4.5*. After hearing friends and family rave about Copper Dock for years it was finally our turn to try it. Despite my late call we were able to get a reservation within the week. The restaurant was hopping, as expected. We were not seated in the main dining room but in the room off to the left of the front door, next to a window looking out at the road. One of the things everyone raves about is the view of the lake; unfortunately, we couldn't see it from our table. We started with the bruschetta. This was very good. I really love fresh mozzarella but didn't particularly care for it on the bruschetta. My husband had the prime rib - it was perfectly cooked and delicious. Also, it was enormous! I I had the mac nut crusted grouper. Where has this been all my life? It was so, so good. And what do they do to there green beans? I'm not a big green bean fan but these are delicious. I also had the mushroom risotto. This was not a personal favorite but still tasty. We split a piece of cheesecake for dessert and it was quite possibly the smoothest cheesecake I've ever had. Overall, this was a fantastic meal. The thing that keeps me from giving the extra half star for a full five is the noise. It was so loud in the room we were in that dinner conversation was difficult. Is it quieter in the main dining room? I don't know. The noise won't prevent a return visit but it would be nice if my husband and I could have talked to each other without feeling like we needed to raise our voices. read more

We went here on a Sunday evening with some friends. The restaurant itself is nice and the view of the lake is definitely a nice touch. Sunday was all you can eat fried chicken, so a few of us decided to go with it. You get rolls and a trip to the salad bar with the meal, which as a big eater is always nice. The salad bar is small, but solid. The veggies/cheese were fresh and overall the salad was very good. They also have some pastas there which were also tasty. The fried chicken itself was ok. The breading reminded me of a fish fry breading, which to me is awesome. The chicken itself was not really anything to die for. I probably wouldn't order it again, however it wasn't really bad enough to not try the Copper Dock again. A lot of the menu items intrigued me, so I think we will give it another shot when summer finally comes. read more

This establishment is hidden away on a small lake northwest of Milwaukee and has always had good food. Is it a five-star Michelin? No, but it is a nice place to dine with [usually] good ambience and food that is certainly more than mediocre. We have been semi-regular customers of this restaurant for many a few years. Of note, we did have one bad experience with a server who was more interested in hanging with her buds than working, but we figured that for a one off as service has usually been friendly and attentive. In the past week we again dined here with friends. Several things came to light on our visit. As do restaurants in our area (Arizona and Vermont) there is no problem with separate checks. It's common. Not so much here, which was a surprise. I understand the issue for large parties, but for four people, it has never been an issue. They also did not really like to take credit cards. Oh kay. But who carries cash these days? It came to light that the reason is that the SERVER is charged with the 3% credit card fee. What? Hence the reluctance to basically take a 6% ding on her (already below minimum wage) hourly rate. We all felt that this was a bit egregious on the part of management. Tell the customers up-front that there is a 3% upcharge for using a card or make it clear that cash is preferred. And don't put it on the server. I assume any contactless payment (Apple/Google Pay, Zelle, Venmo) is not an acceptable methodology. In summation: Food - good, Service - generally very attentive. Ambience - great. Do you know how many times I have driven past this sign in my life? Hundreds. This time when searching for a restaurant I finally found out where that little road led. It was a Thursday night, and the place was near empty. The service was friendly and the waitress was really good. The menu was well rounded, anyone could find something they would like. I not really a salad guy, but it was amazing! We agreed that we could have left happy after just the dinner salads. I ordered the NY Strip and my girlfriend ordered the Stroganoff. That strip was cooked to perfection. It was one of those steaks that you took your time to eat it slow, so that you could enjoy every bite. i did have bite of the stroganoff, it was really good too. We rarely have dessert, but when they have bourbon pecan pie who can resist? I dont know what my girlfriend had for dessert because I am still thinking about that pecan pie! A once favorited cozy neighborhood bar and delicious affordable all you can eat fish fry has now become an $$$$$$over priced fish fry, poor service and bland table dining spot. No more all you can eat large servings, about 10 fries come in an order and only 1/2 of potato comes with a twice baked potato l. Condiments, including salt and pepper, are available upon request. No more tea-light candles either at the table. This once cozy warm place is no longer a favorite, and it wasnt hard to add to the bottom of the list after lengthy waits on drinks and small portioned food. Too bad, we used to crave this place but after one night of terrible service and pricey food, it was an easy switch off. Fishfry is $15.95 for cod, Walleye is $25.95, grilled primerib $41.95!!!! I've eaten here a couple of times and the food and service have always been excellent. The hostess, who I believe is also the owner, is very welcoming. Our server last week was excellent. She was very busy but always made sure we had what we needed. We got an outside table which I had requested when I made the reservation. It was a beautiful evening on the patio. The one negative we experienced was the lack of enforcement of state-mandated masks. We saw many people walking in without them and nothing was said. The bar was business as usual with no distancing between the chairs. I saw 3 bartenders not wearing a mask. The food servers were wearing masks. We did have to wait a few minutes inside before our table was ready outside and I was uncomfortable. I would not have eaten there if we had not gotten that outside table. Once outside, it was fine. Tables were spaced far enough apart. Washington County's coronavirus numbers are ticking upward so it was a surprise to me to see so many people not adhering to the necessary and required safety precautions. read more

Went on a Saturday night with four couples. Love the atmosphere, the drinks and food. The couple who had the walleye special raved saying it was the best they've had. Worst experience i have ever had here , i have always loved copper dock but today was beyond horrible, we are seated in the dinning room and notice its warm , 85 degrees yes is 90 outside but , there air isn't working , its fathers day and we already had reservation so we suck it up . I have never sweat so bad in my life while eating dinner. They are also under staffed for the day so getting water is difficult to say the least . I start looking around and notice why the air isnt working , all the make up air vents are clogged solid, and the vents above all the tables are look disgusting. This is all falling into peoples food that they dont realize . Very disappointed. The "im sorry and at least we have power unlike fox and hound" comment . We came here for my moms 86th birthday! She loves supper clubs and heard about copper dock from friends and wanted to try it! The food was very garlic tasting birthday from there it went down hill! We felt very rushed ( asked to finish up and leave table- we were waiting for our chargecard!!) , one of the three toilets worked, no complimentary birthday dessert " they have a dessert tray we can put a candle on the tray what?" We were looking for someplace different for brunch and decided to take a short drive from Milwaukee to Copper Dock. Their brunch is pretty good and nice selection of breakfast and lunch items. They also have a waffle and omelet station. Make sure you save room for dessert. The best apple pie I have ever had!!! The crust was flaky and the apples still had some firmness to them. I rarely leave bad reviews for a restaurant, especially in the recent worker shortage. We all need to be understanding. But I have never had such a horrendous experience and would recommend steering clear of Copper Dock Father's Day brunch buffet. First we were seated outside, which was fine. But the table was in front of the deck and our table was surrounded by a sewage like stench coming from under the deck. We waited for a server who never showed. We went to the buffet to find out plates and many people waiting.they brought 8 plates. Many food trays were empty and would remain so for the 40 minutes we were there. The food that was there was unappetizing. Eggs with pools of liquid settled on top, rubbery bacon, soggy flavorless waffles with thawed frozen blueberries, greasy deep fried french toast, fatty beef swimming in brown watery liquid, sliced ham swimming in more liquid than ham. We kept going back up to the buffet hoping that the empty serving trays would be filled with something appetizing. We were disappointed each time. And each time we waited for plates to be brought... and each time there were not enough for the people waiting. After we had grabbed something on our plates, I had to go to the bar to find someone to get drinks from. No apologies, no how is the food....nothing She removed some plates after bringing our drinks, but then we were left to eat on stacked plates. We saw other guest with salads and had to ask them where that was as it was not with the Buffet line . There was another room with salad and dessert. Problem was that this was also not being stocked either. There were 6 of us, so they automatically charged a huge tip. I would have had no issues with this had we received service.... Or if the food would have been stocked, or if it tasted good... or if we didn't have to smell that stench. I paid over $200 for 6 people to eat at a brunch buffet and we all left hungry and agitated. Excellent restaurant. I was in the Milwaukee area from Atlanta on business and was looking for a good dinner restaurant for myself and two colleagues. Suffice it to say we were not disappointed . They were able to accommodated us last minute on an extremely busy Saturday evening hosting corporate Christmas parties and locals alike. In spite of the crush that evening we were seated within 5 minutes of our 7:00 reservation. The service was excellent and the meal exceeded our expectations. I made a reservation for Saturday night September 23 for my mom's 95th birthday. The reservation was for 18 people some of them coming from out of town. Unfortunately my mom ended up in the hospital the night before an emergency and was not gonna be able to make her dinner the following night I called the Copper dock and Amanda answered and was very upset with me and I understand it was for 18 people for a Saturday night but my mom was in the hospital. It was her birthday and the people from out of town were coming so we had to put that party off for a week now I am making a reservation for the following Saturday and I really don't wanna go back there because I don't know if they'd let us in there. I was very upset with the way the gentleman treated me on the phone. He actually hung up on me after he was displayed his displeasure with me. I recently went here with my family for Sunday brunch. It was delicious, and varied. There were plenty of healthy, and not-very healthy options. We had a reservation. Though we arrived early, we were still seated at the reservation time (fine with me). The food was really wonderful. Carved meat stations, fresh items. Though the food at the buffet wasn't labeled, most items were pretty self-evident. I also enjoyed the view of the lake. This is a good place to bring people visiting Wisconsin, to see a gorgeous lake view and eat a delicious brunch. read more

Today I attempted to call and cancel my Mother's Day Reservation because my mom had changed her mind about wanting to go out. The owner answered "Hello, Copper Dock". Me, "Hello, I am calling because I would like to call and cancel my brunch reservation for this Sunday." (FYI it's Thursday now) Owner, "Are you serious?" Me, taken aback I giggled and said, "Yes...." Owner, "Do you realize I've turned away like 500 people for brunch and now you wanna cancel?" Me...giggling because I am in shock at how this man is speaking to me... Owner, "What's so funny" very rudely. Me "Well you're just being very hostile and I'm not sure why?" Owner then hung up the phone. I called back a second time, he let it go to voicemail up until I was about to leave a message, and then he picked up the phone, and hung it up again so I couldn't leave one.... I called back a third time, and he answered and said, "Can you please hold?" I said, "sure". I was on hold for 4 min before hanging up again. He clearly was leaving me on hold on purpose... I called a 4th time, a 5th time, and a 6th time.... no answer. I eventually was able to leave a message. I hope that someone is able to help me out because the restaurant has my credit card information on file for when I originally made the reservation....and they will charge me if I don't give at least 24 hours notice... I have NEVER in my life been treated this horribly by any employee EVER. I, nor my family will be back to the Copper Dock. read more

Sad- A Place listed in WI Supper Club book that can't make an Old-Fashioned The elderly woman bartender gets a failing grade of F for the drink she served calling it an Old-Fashioned and rude to boot! She didn't listen to what I ordered where I specifically asked for a bourbon old-fashioned with fruit mentioning fruit twice. She served it with olives. I hate olives and mentioned to her that I had said fruit. She reacted, "calm down it is fixable". (In a rude condescending tone and there was no reason to say calm down.) Then she put a toothpick with 2 cherries in my drink on top of the olives. I fished out the olives. When she had put down the drink you could see it wasn't right by the color. I tried the drink, it was way off. I asked for more bitters trying to improve it and the boy bar back was present so I asked him for more bitters and he didn't know so I asked if I could put them in. I did so and the drink was only slightly better. In retrospect, bartender should have taken back the drink and remade it since it had some olive juice in it from the misplaced olives or not charged. In retrospect, I should not have accepted the 'off' drink and asked for a remake. Aftermath, my husband was talking to the guys at work about the inept bartender and one guy said that he knew who she was and said that is her MO to not listen and do the olives as he had done it to him too! Maybe she has a hearing problem. None the less, avoid this person if you are going to go there. The food was good and done properly, the waitress Gail was very nice and the hostess was also very nice. Dear owner, listen to your customers and let this bartender retire or show her the door. She has no business pretending to be a bartender as if she has been there for years, she is getting sloppy and doesn't know how to work with customers anymore. Dear Owner, please realize that interactions like this can set the tone for the meal and ruin what would otherwise be a very nice experience, you work too hard on a business to let a bad employee like this affect your business negatively. read more

Wisconsin weather was beautiful last weekend. My husband and I ventured out to our favorite restaurant, The Copper Dock, after the COVID drought of no dining in. We appreciated the great food, friendly service and beautiful view of Freeze Lake even more than before. It was a Friday night so of course a WI fish fry was in order. I recommend the perch! However, anything you order is satisfying. The owners and staff have opened their doors mindful of COVID safety standards. However, if you still feel curbside is for you, their carry out is up to the same standards as dine-in. Another beautiful WI weekend? The Copper Dock is a beautiful restaurant with fantastic food and very friendly and attentive owners. I went to the Copper Dock last Saturday for the all you can eat Prime Rib and it was spectacular. Everything from the delicious Salad with strawberries and walnuts, to the rolls, to the entree was great. On top of that the dining area is absolutely beautiful. It's basically a huge window overlooking Friess Lake... definitely a great place to take a date. To top it off, the owners were extremely friendly and one of them remembered my name from our phone call to make reservations. Very impressive, I'll definitely be back! We all had the Wednesday night special, Snow Crab, and everything with this dinner was spectacular! The crab legs were absolutely perfect. The salad and soup was amazing. Each of the dinners came with a side dish and green beans as well. Everyone enjoyed everything ordered. To top it off, the desserts were incredible as well. Done, I am just done trying this place! I want so much to have a good experience here, its a beautiful spot, but It just never works out. The bar was great, bartender mixed a great drink, but after being seated at a table it all went downhill. The service was awful, the food prices were very high, and the highlight of our dinner were the salad/soups. One diner had the Walleye, said it was good but I paid $30 for a seafood casserole that was mostly cod. The risotto (ok, my mistake for ordering risotto in a non-italian restaurant) was gloppy, not the velvety smooth dish I was anticipating. The waitress, unless we literally flagged her down was never around, never cleared salad plates, even after dinner. I have tried numerous times in the last couple of years to like this place, it is now off the list, especially having to run to the BR as soon as I got home. :( read more

Got there about 6 PM, and like an idiot, I did not make reservations. Well, we had to wait till 7:30 if we wanted to sit outside. Inside, not an issue at all, we could have sat immediately. We decided to wait, and had drinks down by the dock. It was a perfect night, BEAUTIFUL sunset. Right about 7:30, the hostess came down to us, and sat us at our table. Very nice. We were a bit paranoid that we would get bumped, as it seemed like there were a lot of "regulars" there. But this did not happen. Okay, now for the low down: Atmosphere - Very nice. I'd be willing to bet that even in the winter inside would be nice. Big stone fireplace, very "homey" feel. Clean, and roomy enough. HUGE window overlooking the lake in main dining room. Outdoor patio is nice, wood deck, stunning view of the lake at sunset. Open, so no cover. Mosquitoes showed up around 8:15, but spray was offered by the staff. Food - We both got the all you can eat snow crab legs. Very good! Had to wait a bit longer for them, but it was a bit busy. We did get seconds, however it was the last of the legs for the night. Again, it was pretty late, and by the time we were finishing, there dining room was getting pretty empty. The salads that came with were very good. I got the bacon spinach, and she got the apple walnut. My twice baked tato was good as well, not great, but good enough. The menu looked like a good variety, and not everyone that not got the crab legs. I hear the Sunday Brunch is very good, and very reasonably priced. Service - Yes, the wait staff in the summer is predominantly HS, or college kids. They were all very friendly. Our Waitress met us quickly, and did a good job. A little slow here and there, but again, a very busy night. Never had to go looking for her. Hostess did a VERY good job with the situation. Very friendly. The bartender was working his butt off. He had a helper, but not to make drinks. He could have used another person, but he was as prompt as he could be. He was also very nice. Drinks were just a tad light, but not bad at all. 5 STARS FOR BRUNCH!! best brunch around. I've had them all. The eggs benedict is seriously to die for. The rest of the food usually includes freshly fried home made donuts, an EPIC salad /fruit bar, a meat carving station with ham and prime rib, a Belgian waffle opp n with several toppings, an omelette station made to order, fish, seafood, (which im not a fan of so ive never tried it) and all the traditional brunch items I.e. french toast bacon, eggs, bread pudding and MANY other things. Also a ridiculous dessert table. Yes. An entire table just for desserts. So many pies. They also are right on fries lake and its so beautiful. I mean REALLY pretty. Outdoor seating is available in summer too. Been there over a dozen times and NEVER had a complaint. Love it. Can't wait to be back. read more

Went for my birthday and had a terrible experience. It took 2 and a half hours for us to eat, the service was subpar, and my husband sent back two dirty cups. If we would have had better service I would return because the escargot and hot bacon salad were fantastic. I would not order the fish duet, it was just okay. The Copper Dock gets 3 stars because their owner did personally apologize to us and give us free desserts for our inconvenience, the dock and view are gorgeous, and like I said, the escargot is out of this world. read more

I can't understand these 5 star reviews, not even a little. My only guess is lack of actual impressive food experiences. Copper Dock was okay at best. The environment is nice enough. Lots of space, nice view of the lack, pretty classy but not obnoxiously so. My fiancee and I had a couple drinks from the bar and they were made very well. It only took us about 30 minutes of waiting for a table outside at 6pm on a Wednesday night, not too bad at all. The service was good, not amazing, but good. Waters could have been refilled a little more often and the food was a little slow making it to the table. Again, not a huge issue because we were not in a rush. We both had the all you can eat crab, which was just fine. Crab is hard to mess up. My problem with this place, is every side dish we tried was terrible. The risotto was too mushy and left a very strange mushroom heavy after taste. The salad dressings were way too sweet. The Tomato soup tasted like a hot Bloody Mary with way to much pepper. I was very very underwhelmed by this place. I saw another table order the ribs, and they looked amazing. I fully intend on going back and trying a few other dishes and giving this place a fair chance. However, as of right now, I'm not a fan of this restaurant. read more

I called ahead to confirm they were having a Father's Day brunch buffet and was told they indeed were, so I made a reservation. Upon arrival 10 minutes early for our reservation, we started by standing in line in the entranceway. There was no hostess present for at least 10 minutes as the line continued to grow. When the hostess finally arrived she was clearly stressed and short with us, without us asking she informed us they are running behind because of "having to sanitize tables" (aren't tables always cleaned between guests?) and we will have to wait. We waited patiently in a corner of a packed bar. As we are waiting we noticed the hostess seating people who arrived after us, my husband gave a head tilt and hand gesture of "huh?" and the hostess just lost it and started yelling how they are busy and there are 6 guests in their party and some other rambling yelling aggressively. I mean literally yelling at us as we stood there saying nothing in shock. She seated the other persons and returned and again snapped saying "here...you want a table? follow me" angrily stomping away pointing at an empty table, which we cautiously sat at. We sat for another 10 minutes with no water, no greeting. There were menu cards on the table from which we were apparently supposed to choose options, not a buffet like I was told. The server finally stopped by rushedly saying she will be with us in a minute, they are very busy. My husband briefly asked if there was a pineapple in the fruit salad, well there isn't because they are already out of fruit salad. He asked if there was a kids menu. The server said no then she also snapped out of nowhere saying "this is the first time we have done this and we are trying our best so you just have to be patient". We immediately left after that second round of deplorable behavior. The level of rudeness from the staff was unparalleled. They clearly think the customer is an inconvenience to them, and that we should be patiently waiting to spend our money in their establishment. Shameful. We have never been snapped at like that in a restaurant ever, and at Copper Dock we somehow got completely snapped at twice. Not a respectful way to treat a father on Father's Day, I hope these staff are ashamed of their behavior and terrible customer service skills. It doesn't matter how busy you are, it is no excuse for blatant rudeness towards a customer who is asking simple questions. read more
