Unfortunate We attended this restaurant on a recent Friday night with a party of 6, including my 90 year mother and siblings. The bar service was great, but when we were seated the waitress was a little rude and inpatient, I asked her to please let us relax and let us enjoy our ordering process as we were not in a hurry. It was after 7:30 and this would be the last seating at our table. She proceeded to work our table, but was never really friendly, but it was fine. They do have a policy about an automatic gratuity added to tables of 6 or more and we were told that when we sat down. I did have a question when the bill came about the tip because the gratuity was added to the tax. I saw the owner at the bar and I asked him about that and he Totally Blew Up!! He started screaming at us and called us A...holes at the top of his lungs in front of everyone. His wife was trying to calm him down and even the waitress came over to see what she could do to help. I was shocked and even said we were regulars. He then got passive aggressive and went down a real demeaning path. This restaurant is just ok, with average quality food. It was a fun place to go occasionally for a relaxing time, but after what happened to us, it's obvious that the owner only cares about himself and thinks he owns a Michelin Star restaurant. He doesn't deserve your business and I feel for the people that have to work for him. read more

I was searching for local supper clubs and the Cooper Dock was recommended. The restaurant from the outside is extremely unkempt. Cooler laying with empty beer cans and bottles, old sinks laying on the ground, large branches on the crab tree out front that are just hanging on by a thread, wobbly wooden handrails with nails sticking up, the open area to the kitchen see my photo, gross! The inside is very noisy, tables are rather close together. Salad with a hint of lemon and 1 walnut, twice baked potato which was extremely dried out, needed sour cream and cheese and half the bake time, good green beans and an over grilled rib eye which I ordered medium rare to slight medium. The ribeye wasn't even pink and the edges where all well done. When the waitress asked how it was I told her. She sent the owner over. She said to me "I just knew when I heard you ask for this grilled this way there was going to be a problem!" I showed her the edges I said all the edges are well cooked. She says "yeah?" Very rude. The problem was this giant steak (never seen a ribeye so big before) I don't think was quality meat if it was even a ribeye. I sat for quite awhile eating my veggies and dried out potato while they grilled me a tiny tenderloin ordered medium rare and very good. Nothing about this place says supper club. Its amusing that today on the radio someone said if you go out to eat and the dinner rolls suck, you should leave. I should of taken that advice! read more

Went with two other couples and experience was excellent. Sat on deck and enjoyed the sunset. I had the chicken soup with scallops and both were excellent. My wife had the coconut shrimp and said it was almost the best she ever had. Salads were good but small, waitress friendly and house wines were good. Also had the mushroom risotto which was excellent as were the sauteed green beans. This was our first trip there but won't be our last. read more

Went for the first time in ten years to their Sunday brunch buffet. Had a 12:30 seating but was a bit early. Was greeted by a super friendly bartender and got a nice glass of Merlot. Usually at this late time, buffet foods are dried out or running low and not replenished. Not here though, as there was an ample selection and everything was fresh and hot. Waitress was super friendly, drinks were replenished when low and plates were cleared from the table often. Desserts were good. No complaints at all which is rare for me. Great job. read more

Hostess was a poor communicator and not helpful. Waited 40 minutes for a table even though had reservations. We had one person in our group who had some basic dietary restrictions. Dietary restrictions we not met and they had to redo the order. Long wait for food and even longer when they had to redo a basic dietary request. Ended up having to take the requested food to go. Came with a barbeque sauce which seemed a little odd, asked for ranch dressing and liked that better. I had the spinach and bacon salad and enjoyed it quite a bit too. Had the queen filet and it was also pretty good. It was very tender, but a bit heavily spiced. Had a slice of red velvet for dessert and it was good. The selling point to this place is hands down, THE VIEW! The main dining room overlooks scenic Friess Lake. All of the seats in the main dining room have a fantastic view. However, if you get seated in the side room with the salad bar, the view isn't nearly as good. We were seated quickly. Our waitress was nice and thorough. For $4, she let me add their regular house salad instead of the usual salad bar. Their house salad is truly amazing and has a citrusy dressing. YUM! It was my favorite part of the meal. The old fashioned was just average. Not hand muddled. The mix used was ok but the drink was on the weaker side. My husband and I both ordered the Beer Battered cod, mine with potato pancakes and his with fries. Please take a look at my pictures. The beer battered cod and the potato pancakes were both super odd in appearance, but also neither were very good. The Cod had a strange "batter" that was crumbling off of the fish. It was not flavorful and the texture was just off. I even asked the waitress if we received the correct kind of fish and was assured it was the beer battered. The potato pancakes looked more like breakfast pancakes and tasted that way too. This is not a place we'd come back to for a fish fry. After being charge $24 for drinks I didn't order, the bartender shouted "f!$@ off" at me in front of my family and the rest of the patrons. The staff was very apologetic and we asked to talk to the owner. We were told he wasn't available. Turns out, the bartender who shouted profanity at me was the owner, Tim Leffler. On hearing this story, people familiar with the family was not surprised. Mothers day was ruined, to say the least. read more

The food here is excellent, however, the management seems to be doing very little to comply with the appropriate public health guidance related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite displaying a Wisconsin Restaurant Promise sign they are not enforcing masking, social distancing, or other visible precautions to combat community spread (and, if they won't follow pandemic related public health guidelines, how can we be sure they are following ANY public health guidelines?). We are very disappointed that the restaurant seems to care so little for the health and safety of their patrons or staff. The owner asked us to leave when we requested a table with more appropriate spacing. It is sad to see a restaurant that cares so little for the common good of our communities and nation as we seek to combat Covid-19. I would have hoped for a much more patriotic response during the national emergency declared by President Trump in March. read more

Made inside seating reservations for a large group special occasion - was assured restaurant could accommodate. Called day before to confirm - was assured everything was set. Upon arrival we were rudely told our table was not ready and had no estimate of how long it would take our group to be seated. We used to come here years ago with some now deceased family members, and decided that since we were in the neighborhood, we would stop by on Wed. nite, 9/9/15 at just about 5:00 PM, without reservations. We were glad we told the boss at the door (Leffler) that we were staying to eat, 'cuz he said they were pretty much booked up just a bit later on. We sat at the bar with "Pat" and had a couple of drinks and excellent conversation. We got seated inside (our request.... didn't wanna sit out on the deck) and had a great view of the lake (see my picture). We ordered the tempura fried asparagus to start us off and to help finish our cocktails. Those couldn't have been more unique... nor better. I recommend them if you like asparagus. (For those, like me, low carbing.... if you want to avoid the batter, its very easy to peal off the tempura). Cheryl ordered the chicken cordon bleu. I ordered the prime rib. After eating our starter salads, our young server came to the table and plunked down our main course. Huh? Wait!!...." I didn't order a filet. I ordered the prime rib." She immediately took my plate away without saying anything. I was positive she was coming RIGHT back with the prime rib. Right? Uh-uh. She came back with a menu and said, "Sorry. We don't serve prime rib tonight. I thought you meant you wanted a filet. I'm really sorry." Oh well. Cheryl enjoyed her chicken which was excellent. I decided to I didn't want to take the time to re-order and we left thereafter promptly, taking most of Cheryl's dinner home in a doggy box. I will take some responsibility for this, in that I really didn't look at the menu. I remember the prime rib here and just ordered it, being reinforced by my apparently mistaken belief that I saw a slice of prime rib on another patron's plate prior to ordering. For the owners at Copper Dock, we still love your restaurant, the food and the folks there. But please, don't forget that your newer/younger servers DO need supervision and on-going training, especially when it comes to taking correct orders from customers. read more

Sunday Brunch...I have never been to a buffet and thought the food was not being handled correctly. The perch must have been left over from the Friday fish fry. It was over cooked and left a horrible taste and was not warm. The fat on the thinly sliced prime rib was congealed. The bacon was so cold it stuck together. The sausages were barely warm. The salads were adequate. There was cantaloupe in the fruit and there is an FDA warning to not eat cantaloupe from Mexico. The scrambled eggs were scrambled eggs and at least warm. Got a recommendation to come here for all you can eat crab legs on Wednesday's.... well, it's my birthday and I said " let's go!" Nice drive to Holy Hill area... beautiful view of lake from restaurant. Hostess so very nice... and our waitress Heather was just as sweet. Quaint lake area - parking all around building. The bar is nice and big to wait for your table. They have an outside deck and music during the summer. Crab legs are fabulous. They serve you such a nice platter to start out- -and they are waiting to serve you more. The legs aren't small or skimpy. And you get soup or salad (spinach/hot bacon dressing!!), potato, veggie and bread at table. Btw, don't miss the Mushroom risotto- AMAZING. You can get a baked potato any day of the week....I told my husband I'd cut him if he took any more of my risotto. (teehee!) My daughter said she's like that for a plate alone! Went for dinner last night with the family, 11 of us in total. As always the food was fantastic. Austin our waiter was great! Met Heather while waiting for our table. She was very apologetic that we had to wait for our table, but we completely understood. The setting on the lake is beautiful and we took some family pictures while waiting. I came across Copper Dock Restaurant when looking for a new brunch spot. With a four star rating I was expecting good things, but sadly the only good thing was the view. Copper Dock is located right on Friess Lake and has plenty of windows to look out at it. They even have a patio for when it's nice out.   Brunch was buffet style, with a full salad and dessert bar. For $19.95/person this buffet was not worth it! The actual buffet had very little selection and majority of the food was overcooked, like it had been sitting for a long time. The main food I went for were the eggs benedict and let me tell you, the hollandaise sauce was way too buttery and the english muffin underneath, soggy.   Overall, brunch was not good and the drinks were just alright. Our waitress was good though, even if we didn't need her much. I might give them another chance and come back for dinner when it's nicer out, so I can sit out on the patio. As for brunch, I will not be returning and do not recommend it for the price. read more

I was hoping to live this place but I found it just ok. We were seated about 10 minutes without being offered beverages. We flagged a server down to ask when we would be helped, she said she would be over soon. We weren't provided a drink menu, so we ordered wine. We ordered for an appetizer the beef tenderloin carpaccio. It was paper thin as stated on the menu, couldn't pick it up, you have to spread it like a paste. There was no flavor, the flavor came from the horseradish. I wouldn't order it again. For entrees we ordered ribs and the seafood casserole, with twice baked potatoes and the vegetable was green beans. My friend loved the ribs. The seafood casserole was very basic. I wouldn't order it again. The twice baked potatoes were very dry, they seemed "old". We were impressed by the young man who was clearing tables and refilling water. I regret not tipping him! Our server was Amanda I believe, pink hair. She was lovely. We would come once more to try other things. The view is beautiful. read more

Ahhh, the Copper Dock. Hadn't been there in many years. It's a drive for us but worth it. (If you're looking for masks and Covid protocols, this isn't your place. Hard stop.) Made a resy for a summer Wednesday night at 6 which appeared to be the restaurant's busiest time for a table. If you prefer sitting at the bar, there was seating, but that filled in later. Tim sat us and he was a bright spot of cheer and happiness. Due to the humidity, we chose to sit inside at a table next to the windows for a lake view. (Highly recommend.) The 3 of us skipped the apps because we saw the portion size was pretty generous. We didn't do the snow crab leg special, but we'd go back and give it a try. Instead we ordered the coconut shrimp, beef stroganoff and the salmon Wellington. (We did ask our very nice server for suggestions.) The rolls for a supper club should be exceptional. These were not. Not even close. But, the food came out piping hot and was it flavorful, cooked to perfection and gooood. The green beans were tasty and perfectly prepared. The twice baked potatoe?!? Great. Each of our entrees contained ooo's and ahhhh's. Our cocktails were good to okay. We attributed the wait time and the taste to staffing challenges. They're still very real everywhere y'all, so take a beat and chill if you aren't a patient person like me. :) Overall, the Copper Dock was a pleasure. The landscaping and the parking lot need some love and maintenance but don't let that dissuade you. Looking forward to digging into the leftovers for lunch. I had the opportunity to visit this beautiful establishment on a Saturday evening. They are always very busy and with the wonderful ambiance, it's easy to understand why. The people in servers are friendly and the views of the lake are fantastic! I found the food to be good, tasty and the presentations were pretty good. I thought it was a bit expensive for "just pretty good" . I ordered a blue cheese burger which was tasty and very well done, I requested medium. I cannot remember what my bride ordered. But that's the point, it wasn't very memorable from a food aspect. What was memorable was the friendliness of the staff especially the hostess who tried her best to fit everyone in on a super busy day and did it with grace. read more

4.5*. After hearing friends and family rave about Copper Dock for years it was finally our turn to try it. Despite my late call we were able to get a reservation within the week. The restaurant was hopping, as expected. We were not seated in the main dining room but in the room off to the left of the front door, next to a window looking out at the road. One of the things everyone raves about is the view of the lake; unfortunately, we couldn't see it from our table. We started with the bruschetta. This was very good. I really love fresh mozzarella but didn't particularly care for it on the bruschetta. My husband had the prime rib - it was perfectly cooked and delicious. Also, it was enormous! I I had the mac nut crusted grouper. Where has this been all my life? It was so, so good. And what do they do to there green beans? I'm not a big green bean fan but these are delicious. I also had the mushroom risotto. This was not a personal favorite but still tasty. We split a piece of cheesecake for dessert and it was quite possibly the smoothest cheesecake I've ever had. Overall, this was a fantastic meal. The thing that keeps me from giving the extra half star for a full five is the noise. It was so loud in the room we were in that dinner conversation was difficult. Is it quieter in the main dining room? I don't know. The noise won't prevent a return visit but it would be nice if my husband and I could have talked to each other without feeling like we needed to raise our voices. read more

This establishment is hidden away on a small lake northwest of Milwaukee and has always had good food. Is it a five-star Michelin? No, but it is a nice place to dine with [usually] good ambience and food that is certainly more than mediocre. We have been semi-regular customers of this restaurant for many a few years. Of note, we did have one bad experience with a server who was more interested in hanging with her buds than working, but we figured that for a one off as service has usually been friendly and attentive. In the past week we again dined here with friends. Several things came to light on our visit. As do restaurants in our area (Arizona and Vermont) there is no problem with separate checks. It's common. Not so much here, which was a surprise. I understand the issue for large parties, but for four people, it has never been an issue. They also did not really like to take credit cards. Oh kay. But who carries cash these days? It came to light that the reason is that the SERVER is charged with the 3% credit card fee. What? Hence the reluctance to basically take a 6% ding on her (already below minimum wage) hourly rate. We all felt that this was a bit egregious on the part of management. Tell the customers up-front that there is a 3% upcharge for using a card or make it clear that cash is preferred. And don't put it on the server. I assume any contactless payment (Apple/Google Pay, Zelle, Venmo) is not an acceptable methodology. In summation: Food - good, Service - generally very attentive. Ambience - great.
