Our sever Cheryl was fantastic. Food was top notch - we had the oysters for an app along with the wagyu. Entrees were the seafood platter and 60 day dry aged bone in ribeye. This is old school steakhouse. The wine list is impressive for the area. Awesome desserts as well. We sat out on covered outside patio with the water flowing alongside. Palmer's Steakhouse - 60 day aged bone in ribeye - Steakhouses Near Me - Hartland, Wisconsin

Pros: -Great steaks -Good ambiance -Service has always been excellent -Steaks have always been cooked correctly as ordered Cons: -Tables are packed pretty close together -Can be loud in the main dining room This is probably a 4.5 star review as opposed to a 4 star, but I rounded down based on a couple of places that are truly 5 star compared to Palmer's. Great place for a special occasion, but they don't hit it out of the ballpark every time...maybe 4 out of 5 (hence 4 stars). The food at Palmer's has always been very good. My wife and I have only ever had steak here as entrees. My go to is a med-rare ribeye and my wife always goes with a mid-well filet butterflied (I know, I know...shaking my head as I type that). They also have a really good tomato and fresh mozzarella salad that is a great starter (the balsamic is what makes it stand out). Service here is pretty spot on the majority of the time and all of the people that we have interacted with have been friendly. It can get relatively loud if you are sitting in the main dining room area, and this is where we have always been seated. read more

My wife and I love to come here for the amazing steaks. I think they're better by far than the famous Milwaukee steak chain that start with a B. That said, stay for the dessert! The cookie and ice cream treat is truly indescribably delicious! A WOW! read more

Five Stars for Palmer's Steakhouse - A Perfect Blend of Flavor and Flair From the moment we sat down at Palmer's, we knew we were in for a treat. Dinner kicked off exactly as it should -- with a beautifully garnished Old Fashioned -- and only got better from there. The appetizers set the tone: the hanging bacon was as fun as it was flavorful, and the escargot stuffed into mushrooms was rich, garlicky perfection. Even the bread was noteworthy -- served warm in a little paper bag, easy to pull apart and impossible to stop eating. My NY Strip, topped with bone marrow butter and paired with button mushrooms, was cooked flawlessly. The fresh green beans on the side were crisp, vibrant, and clearly not an afterthought. And I have to give a standing ovation to the French onion soup: served in a classic crock overflowing with melted cheese -- exactly the way it should be. We were celebrating a colleague's birthday, and Palmer's added their own festive touch with a brownie and ice cream topped with a sparkling firework. Classy, fun, and memorable. To top it all off, they were running a deal on one of my favorite wines -- Caymus -- which made the evening even sweeter. A delightful, delicious meal shared with great business partners -- Palmer's Steakhouse knows how to make every visit feel special. Already looking forward to the next one! read more

We came here for our anniversary dinner at 5 pm on a Wednesday. They weren't seating people when we got there so we ordered a drink at the bar. The bar is small so we had to stand off in the back corner which was kind of annoying. When they sat us, our server Emmy(sp?) immediately came over and refilled our cocktails. She explained the menu in good detail which was nice. It wasn't too loud in the restaurant which was good so my husband and I could have a good conversation at dinner. The restaurant has Christmas decorations everywhere it was cute ! I ordered the 8 oz filet and it was perfection. Charred on the outside and soft on the inside with bone marrow butter on top. I ordered a twice baked potato which was delish. My steak came with a side salad which was your normal side salad. They brought complimentary bread. My husband ordered a 24 oz porterhouse steak - he said it was made to perfection. He also got a twice baked potato. He got the beer cheese popcorn soup and said he wouldn't have ordered that again. The ambiance was great for a nice romantic dinner. They brought us out a complimentary brownie and ice cream for our anniversary. Total bill for our 2 dinners with 2 drinks each was $175. Mind you I had $11 cocktails. The prickly pear margarita was so amazing I had to have 2! My only complaint is front bar area was crammed and nowhere to move or stand really, but there's nothing much that can be done about that. read more

They have super great food, a bit pricey but well worth it. I love their steaks and the sides are tasty and part of the entire price.

I know this area is not very knowledgeable about seafood, but recently several local restaurants have taken to offering Chilean sea bass only to serve some imposter. Maybe they don't even know, but I asked the waiter if it was truly Chilean Sea Bass and he assured me that it was. But the fish I received was a flat, flaky white fish with little flavor and none of the succulent, oily texture of what I ordered. When he asked in passing how the meal was, I said this was not Chilean Sea Bass only to have him keep walking, ignoring my reply. I have had this experience in other area restaurants, so I will probably just stop ordering it only to be disappointed. Beware of false fish!. read more

We had a very nice bottle of wine and a bone in filet medium rare with a some cram corn that you should not do with out Also do t miss the prawn appetizer!!! We were in town for just a few days We will eat here again Great job!!!! Thanks read more

Palmer's is a true gem. What a wonderful place for a celebration or just a nice date. Elizabeth our server was delightful and could not have timed our meal better. She gave us time to enjoy our Eggplant appetizer and that was delicious. Our salads were nice and fresh and our entrees were nice and hot. We highly recommend the filet mignon and the Walleye. read more

The service was great. The waitstaff was fast and friendly. Explained the menu options and covered the specials for the day. The restaurant is very beautiful on the inside but kept kind of dark. I food is amazing and I did enjoy it, but for what it is it's overpriced. $51 for a 16oz ribeye is a bit pricey. While the steak was delicious it wasn't $50 delicious. read more

I had the ribeye steak. It was cooked to perfect medium and the mushrooms added a wonderful zest. My wife had a striped bass with shrimp. The shrimp was spectacular, though the fish was a bit too spicy for my wife. Service was excellent with a nice pace to the meal. The setting was comfortable and the seating great in the dining room. I think it is a great value for a steak dinner at a fine restaurant. read more

Food service and restaurant has always been good to us. We have been here about 8 times and this is our favorite steak place in south east Wisconsin. read more

We went for our anniversary and though we had a 7 o'clock reservation had to wait at the bar for awhile. My wife had the fried shrimp and loved both the quality and portion size. I had the French onion soup which was excellent then the small filet medium rare, it was done perfectly. They provided a complementary desert because of our anniversary which we took home as we were too full. A pleasant experience the setting was quaint. read more

Food was delicious! A little expensive, but great date/special occasion night place!!

Finally made it out to Palmer's, after living in Hartland for almost 18 years lol. Boy, have I been missing out! First, I thought their pricing was very reasonable for being a steakhouse. The brandy old fashioned was only $7 and the blueberry mule was $9. Then all our meals came with soup/salad and a side potato. That's unheard of if you were in Milwaukee. Normally everything is al a carte so this was a great surprise. I got the ribs and they literally fell off the bone. Not to mention the delicious barbecue sauce with them I tried David's filet and it was soo flavorful and had an awesome char. Even the salad in the beginning was great. It was super fresh and just overall a great meal! We will definitely be back. read more

It had been raining all day and was super humid outside. I think it was unexpected rain so my husband requested an outdoor seat. Even with the weather they didn't adjust anything! I was pretty surprised when they put us outside even though there was a cover. Some other people were outside and didn't seem to mind but I was right next to an opening and was getting sprinkled on! It was extremely muggy outside so I'm pretty surprised they still had the outside patio area open. They put some loud fans on im guessing to fix the humidity, but I felt like they were just loud and it was still muggy/humid outside. We asked to sit inside and they seemed annoyed and stated that it would be another 40 minutes if we wanted a table inside. My husband found two cramped seats at the bar so we went there. The bar tender was nice and pretty quick given how busy they were. The bread was really crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The butter was still very frozen which was a little annoyed for an upscale steakhouse. We started with salads that had a delicious peppercorn ranch. I got the filet with shrimp. The grilled shrimp was cooked perfectly and they were quite large. The steak was cooked well but definitely overly salty. The green beans were good, but it was as if they just sprinkled the seasoning on the top because only the few on the top were seasoned. My husband said his steak was good but over salted as well. The creamed corn wasn't really creamed and had a soupy sauce that was all at the bottom of the bowl. The risotto just tasted like buttery sticky rice and nothing like risotto should taste. The Mac and cheese had no cheese or flavor. It just tasted like noodles with a small amount of sauce at the bottom. Also the small and large sizes for sides was essentially the same and not worth the upcharge for the large. The fries were cooked perfectly. The peanut butter pie was delicious and is made in house! Overall I don't think I'd come back cause the food was really just okay and the sides were pretty bad. read more

First time here. We had a gift card from our realtor so we made a reservation and were able to go on a Wednesday evening. Menu is very nice and we started with beautiful fresh oysters from Maryland. Outstanding! The makers mark manhattans were good, not great. The wine I ordered was mediocre at best. My husband didn't care for the NY strip but my shrimp was very good. Was it a fabulous dinner for $250? No. It was good, expensive but very good service. read more

I would caution anyone on purchasing gift cards/certificates from Palmers. My husband and I received what we thought was a gift card for Palmers. Originally we were told they could not honor it as it did not have a "bar code". We were given this as a gift and presented what we were given which had a dollar amount and the order number for the gift card purchase. The waiter told me that he can however look it up if I had the information for who purchased it (name, address, email or phone number). I provided all of this information and he came back to the table telling me he could not find anything. Due to this I called the owner the following day to try to resolve. When speaking to the owner he tells me that he can not find the purchase and that I needed the credit card number it was purchased on. Who remembers what credit card you purchase something on let alone have me call the person that bought this and inconvenience them to get this information. I could give him the purchaser name, address, phone number, email AND the week it was purchased! I also provided him with another gift certificate that was purchased on the same day by the same person for the lake country playhouse hoping that would help him. He said he needed time to research and get back to me. When he called me back the story once again changed, now I was told that he found the order but that he could not honor it without the "gift card". To which I reminded him this was purchased online; he also had the photos of the certificate we had received as the gift. He then changed his story telling me that there was a "gift certificate" that would have been mailed to the purchaser and confirmed their information and address! The purchaser never received any such "gift certificate" other than the one she printed online the day it was purchased. Palmers is not able to verify this due to poor record keeping as I was told by the owner Chris today that they don't keep records of the gift certificate numbers and changed the story again to tell me that it would have been a "paper gift certificate". Sadly this is a $100 of wasted money and a very poor experience. They have essentially profited $100 and are not willing to honor the gift card whatsoever. I even suggested he meet us in the middle and honor $50 as a concession to their poor business record keeping and he was not willing to even do that. I find it hard to believe that this has not happened to other people! He never once apologized or even offered any resolution. Something like a 50% off your next visit, a free round of drinks if you give us another try etc! On top of this, the last two meals we have had here were disappointing. Spent $215 and ordered a 45 day dry aged bone in rib eye. The flavor was lacking and not worth the money. P.s. also found similar complaints on other reviews regarding gift cards/certs after the fact! read more

I took my 19 year old son out for dinner for his birthday and he had requested steak so why not go to Palmers, it is always delicious! Made a reservation for 5:15, but had to choose the indoor dining room since the heated terrace was sadly not available. We arrived at 5:10 and were immediately seated. We got off to a bit of a slow start with our waitress coming to the table and drinks, but she made up for it. She was very friendly and the entire staff was attentive. I love restaurants that do not let your table sit full of empty plates! We ordered the tomahawk special - go big or go home! the meat was a little undercooked, we ordered medium rare and it was a bit on the rare side, but we did not mind. The sides were boring. You used to be able to get sides off the menu but now its standard issue baked potato, fries, etc. My other son ordered the ribs with a side of fries and he side it was good, not great. That's what he gets for ordering rib at a steakhouse! We also ordered the creme brulee which left me speechless. We will be back! read more

Nice place Friendly bar We sat outside overlooking the stream Service was very good Bone in filet was very disappointing as it was barely 1 inch thick - I've had better at plenty of other places - for the money I felt ripped off I'd go again but would not recommend or get the bone in filet again 4 star because I know this place is very good and with a good filet it would have been 5 read more

Stopped on a busy Saturday without a reservation and was able to get a table (another reservation cancelled.). Enjoyed the Seafood Alfredo , though was hoping for more than 2 scallops . Wonderful casual, yet classy restaurant. The staff was very attentive and I felt like we were in a high-end restaurant, A+ service. This was our first visit, but we'll absolutely be back for more. We were celebrating my son's 17th birthday and he had the dry aged ribeye and absolutely loved it. I managed to sneak a bite and it was wonderful! We also had the salmon and pike and were very happy. For an appetizer we had the calamari and cheese curds, both were amazing. Definitely a great place for a special event or a regular nice night out (if you have the money). No complaints about the price, we knew what to expect before we came, but felt we got our moneys worth. read more

Was a guest all the food we had was very well done, the service was top notch A bit dark in the dining area. I understand the cost of great service and food is high but I was set back a bit by the prices. But they definitely were a full house in the middle of the week so I guess it's just my opinion. All in all if you are looking for a special place with good food and service this is the place. At least you are getting the best for the price. read more

We had a great experience for dinner here. Excellent service. Delicious meal! The filet mignon was perfection... cooked exactly how we asked. I added the truffle butter & was glad I did! Fries, bread, and french onion soup were all also very good. Dark & Stormy cocktail was a great addition to the meal. We would skip the lobster mac & cheese next time... have had better. read more

I booked a week ahead of time on the restaurant website To celebrate my husband's birthday. I don't recall if I could reference what the occasion was when booking on the website nor was I asked when we checked in or when seated. Maybe they don't do anything extra for special occasions. But points to them for the website reservation option. After checking in, we ordered a drink at the bar. Shortly after our table was ready. The restaurant has a supper club feel. The staff at the front and the bar were friendly. We ordered the oyster Rockefeller for an appetizer. The oysters were a good size and cooked well. Reminded me of the tasty oysters in New Orleans. The house salad veggies were fresh. I had a porterhouse steak which was cooked just right at the requested rare plus. My husband's filet mignon was cooked well, too. Just a side note they are only about 5 small button mushrooms that come with the meal so if you like a lot of mushrooms ordered another side. We also had a side of Brussel Sprouts. Some were overly charred but for the most part, were good. Overall the experience was great and would go again. Oh yes, the bread was served nice and hot! I took down a whole loaf myself (it was a small loaf). One ding was around my Perfect Manhattan. Drink sat at the bar for probably 10 or so minutes. It was pretty watered down when I received it. So I requested a new one. It's a pretty pricey drink. read more

I don't know how this place does not have a perfect rating but highly recommend this gem roughly 20 minutes from Milwaukee! Our entire table ordered steaks and each one was perfectly cooked- my husband even ordered black and blue cook and they executed it perfectly (which is not common!). The Manhattans were great and the wine pairing was great for dinner. Highly suggest the Brussel sprout side! read more

Outstanding dinner. We had a group of 6. Made our reservations well over 3 weeks ago. They hold the tables to 90 minutes. Situated in a quaint "downtown" area. Nice bar area- but I wouldn't want to have to eat dinner in there- as the night goes on, it gets busy and too much commotion and not a ton of room. We had two waiters tag teaming us- which is nice. The side choices all were delish- risotto, crispy fries, creamed corn, brussel sprouts. Yum! And enough to share with 2 or 3. We all chose steaks- filets and ribeyes- cooked to perfection. Drinks were outstanding- and desserts were great as we totally enjoyed our meals. This is a gem of a place- so glad we tried it. We will be back! read more

The service and atmosphere were good. However, I ordered a 20oz. bone-in rib eye dry aged steak rare and was thoroughly disappointed. It was tough, stringy, and hard to chew. Not the tender and flavorful treat I was hoping for. I did not want to make a complaint at the table because I was a guest. But $70 for the meal that I had was outrageous and had I been the one who was paying, I would have raised a complaint immediately. Not sure if I would want to go back there and take a chance on another pricey steak. read more

My mom traveled in for Mother's Day weekend, so I took her to Palmers on Saturday, May 10th for dinner. I'm also an expectant mother and six months pregnant. For dessert, we wanted two strawberry crème brulees, but our waiter said we couldn't order them because they needed to sell the last vanilla one first. I joked, "I guess we're waiting!" and he replied, "You can stay all night, but what if we don't sell it by close?" Peter, while I understand that you don't make the rules, you are always a super condescending waiter. Rather than the restaurant allowing us to buy $25+ worth of dessert, they chose to force the sale of the one leftover vanilla. It was illogical and prideful. Since it was 9 pm we closed out and left. read more

Are dinner at Palmer's lat night (3/27/25) ordered the lobster Mac and cheese and to my amazement found that there was only enough lobster in it to fill a tablespoon. Are you kidding? Paid $20 for a bowl of cork screw pasta with dry cheese sauce. What a rip off. This is poor business practice, as I would know being in the restaurant business over 30 years. Will not be going back if this is how you rip people off. Shame on you!! read more

It isn't too often when ol' Geno gets to do a splurge meal like this!! In lieu, this deserves a review and a half. Starting off, I have to give a shout out to my daughter and son for funding most of this meal/drinks extravaganza. Secondly, this is one of my favorite places to eat for a splurge and fancy pants time. Starters were coctails at the bar. I had an old fashioned and the wife had a cosmo. Both were very nice. We were seated after our drink and proceeded to order a bottle of wine for the meal. Now, when i say we splugin', I mean we SPURGIN'!! We chose the red blend, Conundrum. We both chose the salad and it was accompanied by fresh, warm bread and butter. I had the Ribeye and the wife had the Saturday night special, prime rib. All the photos speak for themselves. It is as good as it looks. Already stuffed as a tick, we proceeded to have the peanut butter cheesecake as a split. Everything was top notch, from wait staff to food quality. Expect to pay close to $250 if you're gonna do it up like this, but hey, WOLO. It was a very nice treat and we both appreciate getting to experience nice meals like this. Depending on your income and ability to spend on dining, this is a nice place to visit without it being pretentious. Thanks to Palmer's for a memorable and delicious time/meal. read more
