I haven't been here in AWHILE. There have been a number of changes and updates since my last visit. BUT- there's still a pool table! Chill drinking hole.

45 minute wait which isn't a problem for a Friday night fish fry during the prime seating time The problem is the slow service from start to finish once seated A room with 6-8 tables and only server but several people helping to buss tables and to keep the salad bar clean Once we ordered our meals it took almost 20-30 for all 3 Meals to show up since we were seated almost at the end of the dinner rush. But it looked like the " To Go " orders was the main reasoning for the delay of our meal.

Baked Walleye and potato pancakes...killer... Seriously!!!!

Authentic local gem!!! Let's be fair... One must rate Hartland's Phoenix against the back drop of what it is... An local bar and restaurant the likes of which are no longer in vogue for most people whom have forgotten the authenticity of a multi generational family run eatery. Nancy ( a spritely 85?) the owner, is heart and soul not this landmark and her soul runs deep through every nook and cranny of the place, every home cooked dish, and every relationship she cultivates with her patrons. First things first... To kitchen puts out one of the best fish fry I've had any where in Wisconsin... Hands down best perch and baked walleye. The fry comes with soup and salad bar... The whole experience is less like eating out and more like going to Nancy and family's house for dinner... Home, real, no flourish just an authentic Wisconsin pleasure. They have daily specials all week long... Call, no web site because Nancy not much of a web developer ;) Secondly, the bar is a BARgin! Say no more! Drinks for a party of 4 adults and 3 kids....under $20! Seriously! I can not recommend The Phoenix any more... Go in expecting the above and you'll fall in love... If your disappointed... Well that's merely a difference between reality and expectation. Did I Mention the Burgers?! Holy !!!!! Killer burgers ... Just go, you'll thank me ;)

Lots of food in the adult fish fry!

This place is a dump. The staff is rude and not knowledgeable. Walk across the street to a decent bar.

Great Bloody Marys. Friendly service. As to the low rating below, I suggest ignoring it - it's a bar for god sakes!!!

It's not fancy, but heck, the bartender and customers were friendly. A PBR with shot of whiskey + tip was $5.

We had to wait 30 minutes for a table last night, but the fish fry was worth it.

We started with the Arugula Radicchio Salad (perfectly dressed!) and a cup of Potato Leek Soup, then shared the Duck Leg Confit (it was the best duck we've had in awhile, and braised cabbage! those duck fat roast potatoes!) and the Beef Filet with potato gratin (yum!!), watercress and red wine jus. Every dish had a nice wood-fired flavor. Excellent quality across the board, and the prices felt very reasonable for what you're getting. Our server was excellent - attentive, knowledgeable, friendly without hovering. The support staff kept our waters filled and dishes cleared seamlessly. We appreciated the NA beer, wine, and cocktail options. I had a modified French 75 and loved it - it's nice to have thoughtful non-alcoholic choices. Someday I'd love to grab seats at the counter in front of the kitchen to watch the action. We will be back!

Visit: 8/5/2024 My…read moreapologies for letting this review fall through the cracks. Given the delay, this one may be a bit lighter on details. It was my birthday, and our friends wanted to take us to one of their favorite restaurants. This is a place they've been to several times and were excited to show off. They're especially known for their artisan pizzas. Food: Since pizza is their specialty, and two people in our group get very excited about a good slice, they ordered a Cheese, Sausage & Onion pizza and a Margherita pizza. The nightly special was Lamb Chop, which is one of my favorites, so I went with that. The last person ordered the Salmon. Overall, the food was very good. The lamb chop was nicely presented, cooked to the right temperature, and pesto-encrusted, which was a delicious combination. While it was good, it could have been a bit more flavorful. The salmon was enjoyed, though it leaned slightly dry. Both pizzas came out piping hot, generously topped, and very flavorful. There was plenty to share around the table. We had a little room left for dessert and ordered the Chocolate Nemesis. It was a good size and just enough to satisfy everyone's sweet tooth. They even added a candle to help celebrate my birthday, which was a nice touch. Service: Our server did a very good job throughout the evening. We were quickly settled in with drinks and menus, and the pacing of the meal was relaxed and well managed. We never felt like we were waiting on service. When they learned it was a birthday celebration, they went out of their way to present the dessert with a lit candle. It's a small gesture, but it really shows attention to detail. Atmosphere: The restaurant felt much larger inside than expected. We were seated in a separate room that we had entirely to ourselves. Each of us had an upholstered chair, which initially felt special, though it took some adjustment not to lean back too comfortably at the table. When we arrived, the room was quite chilly and drafty. We asked if the thermostat could be adjusted, which helped, though it remained a bit drafty. Overall, it was a very good experience and a place we would return to. Next time, I'd probably opt for one of the pizzas and request a table in the main dining room.

If you know Steny's Lake Country, you already expect a good time--and this newer location (only…read moreabout 2 years old) delivers, even though it's tucked into a corporate park. Don't let that throw you off--it's super easy to find and the parking lot is a huge plus (no circling like downtown). We stopped in for their Derby party and it was a blast. Fun games, great energy, and an overall lively atmosphere that made it feel like an event, not just a night out. Food-wise, we kept it classic: cheese curds and the lobster dip--both were really good. The curds hit that perfect crispy/cheesy balance, and the lobster dip felt a little elevated but still totally shareable and worth it. I'd definitely go back again, but next time I'd probably pick a less busy time so we can relax a bit more and try more of the menu. The atmosphere was great during the event, but it'd be nice to experience it on a more laid-back visit too.

TASTELESS & greasy. * pumpernickel bread: 2 pieces about 2" wide (tiny) * Fries - terrible dry and hard * All this for a $20 fish fry - WAY OVERPRICED Wings - both orders of 6 wings were NOT crispy but mushy (and I had asked for EXTRA crispy even though they advertise that they are "crispy"). * Dry rub lucky 13 wings - SALTY * Naked wings - much better * At almost $10 per 6 wings, not great quality * They don't take phone orders at all, and their app doesn't allow you to place an order after 5pm - but doesn't tell you, it keeps prompting you to pay. I tried to place the order about 5 times (using Apple pay repeatedly but it kept coming back with that pickup time is not available - pickup times are NOT selectable). * They tack on 4% for to-go orders but they don't tell you until you see the final bill. This did NOT show up on my attempts at ordering and paying on-line. * They tack on 3% for credit card payments. We went in and had a drink and placed the "to-go" order. There were mostly female bartenders, most with not much more than enhanced panties on (nothing under them). Very uncomfortable.
