45 minute wait which isn't a problem for a Friday night fish fry during the prime seating time The problem is the slow service from start to finish once seated A room with 6-8 tables and only server but several people helping to buss tables and to keep the salad bar clean Once we ordered our meals it took almost 20-30 for all 3 Meals to show up since we were seated almost at the end of the dinner rush. But it looked like the " To Go " orders was the main reasoning for the delay of our meal.

Baked Walleye and potato pancakes...killer... Seriously!!!!

Authentic local gem!!! Let's be fair... One must rate Hartland's Phoenix against the back drop of what it is... An local bar and restaurant the likes of which are no longer in vogue for most people whom have forgotten the authenticity of a multi generational family run eatery. Nancy ( a spritely 85?) the owner, is heart and soul not this landmark and her soul runs deep through every nook and cranny of the place, every home cooked dish, and every relationship she cultivates with her patrons. First things first... To kitchen puts out one of the best fish fry I've had any where in Wisconsin... Hands down best perch and baked walleye. The fry comes with soup and salad bar... The whole experience is less like eating out and more like going to Nancy and family's house for dinner... Home, real, no flourish just an authentic Wisconsin pleasure. They have daily specials all week long... Call, no web site because Nancy not much of a web developer ;) Secondly, the bar is a BARgin! Say no more! Drinks for a party of 4 adults and 3 kids....under $20! Seriously! I can not recommend The Phoenix any more... Go in expecting the above and you'll fall in love... If your disappointed... Well that's merely a difference between reality and expectation. Did I Mention the Burgers?! Holy !!!!! Killer burgers ... Just go, you'll thank me ;)

Lots of food in the adult fish fry!

This place is a dump. The staff is rude and not knowledgeable. Walk across the street to a decent bar.

Great Bloody Marys. Friendly service. As to the low rating below, I suggest ignoring it - it's a bar for god sakes!!!

It's not fancy, but heck, the bartender and customers were friendly. A PBR with shot of whiskey + tip was $5.

We had to wait 30 minutes for a table last night, but the fish fry was worth it.

This was my second time here. We came about this same time last year for my birthday dinner with…read moreanother couple. There were four of us. Last year was an easy 5-star experience. This visit was a bit disappointing. Food: We started with a couple of the Sangria specials, a beer, and I ordered one of their signature cocktails, the Dolce Old Fashioned. The sangrias that arrived weren't actually the ones we had ordered. Our server caught the mistake as she brought them to the table and offered to have the correct ones made or let us keep these at no charge. Since they were delicious, we happily kept them. My Dolce Old Fashioned was excellent. We skipped appetizers because we wanted to save room for dessert. After all, it was my birthday dinner. We ordered two pizzas, the pork chops, and I chose the Duck Leg Confit. The timing of the entrées was awkward. It felt more like a tapas dinner than a restaurant serving a table together. My duck arrived first, then we waited. Next came the pork chops, followed by another wait. Finally, about ten minutes after the first plate arrived, the two pizzas were served. It's much more enjoyable when everyone can start eating together. Everyone really enjoyed their meals, with one exception: my duck. It was drier and tougher than I had expected. The braised cabbage and roasted potatoes that accompanied it were both very good. Given how the evening had already gone, I didn't make an issue of it, but I did make a mental note not to order that dish again. We finished with several desserts, including the Almond Cake and the Warm Date Cake. Both were excellent and provided a nice ending to an otherwise uneven meal. Service: The service throughout the evening was good. We were seated right away, and our server, Nicole, greeted us promptly, got us settled in, and answered our questions about the menu and nightly specials. Unfortunately, she found herself apologizing several times during the meal. First for the incorrect drinks, and later for the staggered arrival of the entrées. None of those issues seemed to be her fault, and she handled everything professionally and with a great attitude. Atmosphere: The restaurant is attractive and thoughtfully laid out, with several different seating areas. Our table of four was in a smaller section they refer to as the lounge. The air conditioning kept the room comfortable, and the noise level made conversation easy. I'm not sure whether the food quality and timing issues were just the result of an off night or something more representative. It does make me pause before making another reservation. I may check a few recent reviews before deciding to come back.

We started with the Arugula Radicchio Salad (perfectly dressed!) and a cup of Potato Leek Soup, then shared the Duck Leg Confit (it was the best duck we've had in awhile, and braised cabbage! those duck fat roast potatoes!) and the Beef Filet with potato gratin (yum!!), watercress and red wine jus. Every dish had a nice wood-fired flavor. Excellent quality across the board, and the prices felt very reasonable for what you're getting. Our server was excellent - attentive, knowledgeable, friendly without hovering. The support staff kept our waters filled and dishes cleared seamlessly. We appreciated the NA beer, wine, and cocktail options. I had a modified French 75 and loved it - it's nice to have thoughtful non-alcoholic choices. Someday I'd love to grab seats at the counter in front of the kitchen to watch the action. We will be back!

Don't let that throw you off--it's super easy to find and the parking lot is a huge plus (no circling like downtown). We stopped in for their Derby party and it was a blast. Fun games, great energy, and an overall lively atmosphere that made it feel like an event, not just a night out. Food-wise, we kept it classic: cheese curds and the lobster dip--both were really good. The curds hit that perfect crispy/cheesy balance, and the lobster dip felt a little elevated but still totally shareable and worth it. I'd definitely go back again, but next time I'd probably pick a less busy time so we can relax a bit more and try more of the menu. The atmosphere was great during the event, but it'd be nice to experience it on a more laid-back visit too.

When I told the waiter the food was bad he said it's late and they don't care. Upon leaving, the host asked if he could make it up to me. I declined. I wanted a good dinner not a chance to eat another bad dinner again. Needless to say, I will not be returning.
