Fish fry was good but.... - service was slow - painfully slow - ambiance - there is none unless sitting in your great uncles garage is your idea of ambiance - drunk loud ladies at the bar were cherry on top And we purposefully went early to avoid the noise, the crowd, the wait. The service was TERRIBLE. A friend and I went in yesterday at about quarter to midnight. Without even greeting us, Amanda, the bartender yelled you guys have 15 minutes and we're closing. Um ok no hello no welcome in just basically making us feel unwelcome as if we shouldn't be there. she was wiping down the bar and as soon as we sat down, she said so you guys are just gonna sit at the bar that I just wiped down? there were two gentlemen sitting at the bar. She never even asked us what we wanted. She didn't know how long we were gonna be there. After she said that I said wow, you're so rude like you don't even know how long we were going to be here. She then threatened to call the police. apparently one of the two gentlemen that were sitting at the bar was her boyfriend. Honestly, I think she got jealous or insecure when me and my friend walked in because she basically told us she wanted to go home and I quote "fuck her boyfriend". Then started making accusations like we're just jealous because we can't go home and fuck him and that is her man and she does it every night. All while he's waving us goodbye. So tonight I called the bar to make a complaint. Apparently they put a "manager" on the phone. I think she said her name was Bre. I don't even know. She then proceeded to say well yeah Amanda told me about the situation this morning, so I listened to the cameras and you were rude to her too.. OF COURSE I was rude to her because immediately when we walked in, she was rude. Basically asking me what it is that I want to happen to her. Her excuse was Amanda said we came in AFTER bar close. which obviously doesn't make sense if the first thing she said was we have 15 minutes UNTIL bar close. they're not going to do anything about it because the manager hung up in my face. But before she hung up, I said how is it that we came in after bar close when she literally said you guys have 15 minutes until we're closed?!? Make it make sense. I will never and I mean never go there again while Amanda is "working". A person with terrible customer service can literally make or break your establishment. I recommend getting new bartenders and managers that are going to hold your staff accountable for why people don't support small businesses!!!! read more

I saw a picture of Spanky's combo fish fry (perch, cod, and shrimp) a few weeks back and wanted to give that a try the first chance I could. With the combo fish fry I ordered potato pancakes for the side and cheese curds as an appetizer. The cheese curds were ok. I couldn't exactly place the kind of breading; it looked almost cornmeal-like but wasn't quite because they were crunchy and didn't sit in a pool of grease that they had absorbed like typical cornmeal breaded cheese curds. I wouldn't be opposed to getting them again, but wouldn't object to trying something else first either. The best part of the combo fish fry was the shrimp, which was clearly out of a frozen box of shrimp that they just quickly deep fried. The breading for the cod and perch completely lacked salt which made them both underwhelming. The potato pancakes themselves tasted fine, but as you can see in the picture I provided, the syrup was extremely thick. I literally had to use a knife to spread it on top of the pancakes instead of being able to drizzle it like at any other restaurant. I can't even speculate how syrup gets to be that consistency, but I didn't care for it. The only good thing I can say about the combo fry besides the shrimp was the fact that you get a fair amount of food for the price. read more

I have lived in this community for 3 years and just found this wonderful little bar with great food and live entertainment. I had been seeing their signs all over Thiensville but they were always in weird places that pointed to nothing so I wasn't sure what to think. A few times, the signs actually pointed to the river so I thought it was a joke! Tonight, because I really wanted BBQ badly (and love to support businesses in my community), I got the not so brilliant idea to use GPS. After following a very convoluted pathway around what was practically my back yard, I drove right to the place. It was totally worth it! The workers were friendly. The atmosphere was low key but welcoming. It was clean and unassuming. Nothing fancy. Truly a hideaway but kinda cute! There was a band playing happy music and people sitting inside and outside. The crowd was having a good time in a respectful adult way. Nobody acting out or being rowdy. It was a happy night right before Labor Day but everybody was enjoying the night with dignity. I ordered 1/2 rack BBQ ribs. It came with Cole slaw, bread, and a side order. I got onion rings. The bread was burned and inedible and I NEVER risk my life with Cole slaw BUT the ribs ... OMG! They were so goooooooooood! Yummy, tender, juicy, sauced nicely, cooked well, and not burned! So many places char them when you do take out and send you home with inedible meat, this restaurant treated me like they wanted me to come again! I definitely will!! read more

The apps were great and so were the first two bites of my burger. Service was ok. Everything was great until there was two beard like hairs on my plate. I was charged half price for my entree and was told that the kitchen staff were clean shaven. The owner proceeded to tell me the hair may have blown into my plate. Not impressed with this resolution. Said they now need it for 4 people. reached under us, and grabbed our flatware. Offered us an aisle table, in the only walkway for bringing out food to the tables. Told them we did not want to sit on the aisle. They then said one table is open in the back room, which is dilapidated quite cold with a direct draft. Told a server about the cold, so she offered another table. The woman from behind the bar said we can not sit there either. She wants that for 6 people. Quite mean and aggressive women running the show. Quite uptight for a shack of a restaurant. Unpaved parking lot and dilapidated. Left them with sharing our story with neighbor friends. Went in for lunch a few days ago and got the 1/2lb burger with bacon and cheddar. The burger was cooked perfectly medium just the way I like it, there was an ample amount of bacon that was cooked perfectly (not rubbery and not burnt) it had just the right amount of crunch to it. The cheddar cheese was great as well. It was on a fresh brioche bun that was amazing. The seasoned fries are some of the best in the city, have a side of the homemade ranch with them and you won't be disappointed! Give this place a try if your in the area. Enjoy! read more

We stopped in on a hot Saturday night. The place was packed, and kinda hot. But the fans made it ok. I had the baby back ribs with seasoned steak fries. The ribs were't baby back ribs and the fries weren't seasoned. My wife had the French dip, which was ok but a bit dry. The place was really loud. I came here on a Friday night with a coworker and out-of-state guest. We were somewhat nearby for dinner and wanted a place to grab a drink. The name intrigued us. However, it was somewhat lackluster. We arrived around 9pm on a Friday night. There were maybe 10 people all sitting around the bar, otherwise the place was dead. We sat at a table near the bar since there were not 4 seats available. We were not greeted when arrived; in fact we felt like everyone stared at us because we weren't regulars. We waited for several moments at the bar before we were noticed to order. I did order a drink and it was reasonably priced (less than $5 for a tall rum and diet coke). They did have a food menu and I would be interested in coming back for fish fry. The place was clean and wasn't obnoxiously loud. I would give it another shot if I was in the area but wouldn't go out of my way just because I liked the name of the establishment. I would have given it 3 stars but our guest was extremely dissatisfied with the lack of acknowledgement and service. It made me feel bad for suggesting this local bar and we ended what we wanted to be a super fun evening on a dull note. read more

A pretty decent and cool looking bar and Hideaway this place is on a real isolated Lonely Road and is a unique structure fun bar to hang around I would imagine the building is old and pretty fun to be in and there is plenty of good drinking choices from the hard liquor to the beer. Ohhhh man this place is GRAND ! The staff are great , the food is great and the people that go there are like family . If you order a burger just remember there is 1/2 pounder that I LOVE ! but there is a regular size too - GO BIG OR GO HOME , LOL ! . They have a great patio , dog friendly as long as your dog is friendly all is good . There are daily specials and even really awesome fried chicken . Bathrooms are clean , pool table , darts plenty of tv's and good company . We love this place and our staff . Just remember it can get busy and the staff works hard and as fast as they can be respectful , if something is wrong just don't yell . The owner , the staff and the people that go there are like family and we all lookout for each other so trouble makers will not be welcome . It's safe clean and fun ! There are times when you just have to write a review. Went to this establishment today and for the second time in a row was a bad experience. Poor service, incorrect orders, cold food. Talked to waiter about the issues .He acknowledged the complaint but didn't have anything to explain. No comments.
