    Grilled Hot wings
    Zack F.

Absolute hidden gem townie bar. Great vibe, casual usuals, GREAT wings, and laid back situation with friendly service. Wings and a beer under $20 can't be beat. The wings have multiple sauce options, as well as your choice of grilled or fried. Veggies on request and the blue cheese is thick enough to raise the dead. I can't wait to go back and try some more of the sauces and maybe I'll even go fried over grilled .

Always good food. Delicious French onion soup. Today I had the French Dip with pepper jack and mushrooms--outstanding.

I saw a picture of Spanky's combo fish fry (perch, cod, and shrimp) a few weeks back and wanted to give that a try the first chance I could. With the combo fish fry I ordered potato pancakes for the side and cheese curds as an appetizer. The cheese curds were ok. I couldn't exactly place the kind of breading; it looked almost cornmeal-like but wasn't quite because they were crunchy and didn't sit in a pool of grease that they had absorbed like typical cornmeal breaded cheese curds. I wouldn't be opposed to getting them again, but wouldn't object to trying something else first either. The best part of the combo fish fry was the shrimp, which was clearly out of a frozen box of shrimp that they just quickly deep fried. The breading for the cod and perch completely lacked salt which made them both underwhelming. The potato pancakes themselves tasted fine, but as you can see in the picture I provided, the syrup was extremely thick. I literally had to use a knife to spread it on top of the pancakes instead of being able to drizzle it like at any other restaurant. I can't even speculate how syrup gets to be that consistency, but I didn't care for it. The only good thing I can say about the combo fry besides the shrimp was the fact that you get a fair amount of food for the price.

Service was excellent. The staff were very friendly. The food took longer than usual to arrive, but it was a busy Friday night. Food is 6/10

We had 3 different people come to our table to see how things were going which was really nice. The owner even stayed a while to talk about the business and his other restaurants in the area. Started with a Scotch Egg and I had the Cottage Pie, my wife had the Fish and Chips and we finished with the Sticky Pudding. Everything tasted great. Have to say, the ordering by phone was a little challenging, but we figured it out. Great addition to the Public Market. Definitely will be back.

This restaurant sits in the Mequon Public Market and legitimately has better fried fish (and chips) than St. Paul Fish Market just across the parking lot, as crazy as that sounds. The batter is light but crispy, and there's a generous cut of fish under the relatively "fluffy" exterior and the fries were fresh and awesome. They also have a respectable beer selection, plus some good cocktails on offer. We were acknowledged and never ignored by staff even though there's an option to order everything through a QR code on the table. The manager stopped by a few times to check on us before it got overly busy, which was also nice. I'm excited to come back here and enjoy the patio when it warms up.

I was lucky to run into some neighbors from Brown deer who said they were going to meet at the brick yard. I said you mean the Brick from Tim Wren on Green Bay ave. They said it's new. By the new library, mind you I've been absent for about a year and nine months so giving me directions to a new place that popped up less than a year ago it's not helping so I followed them down to Brown Deer Rd in the old section close to the electric power wires and the oak park bike trail across the street from the Audi dealership to the south side of Brown deer Road. They had a musician on a small stage located inside of a small container box previously used for shipping also re-purposed was the main bar area that had flip up windows all around it that was made with two storage containers stuck together the restrooms are basically a bunch of Porta potty's and conveniently placed throughout the whole area are Handwashing and hand sanitizing stations with probably the strongest alcohol levels I've ever had put on my hands without burning my skin off. Location has plenty of picnic tables lots of open space with access for bikers and community. Music and food rotate. so it's constantly changing. the service on Thursday night was perfect. I am absolutely FURIOUS about our experience at Foxtown Brewing…read more This place was a COMPLETE DISASTER from the second we sat down. Our drinks were WRONG. The kitty cocktail didn't even have cherries in it -- how hard is it to put TWO CHERRIES in a glass? And the root beer tasted straight-up disgusting. Flat, weird, just BAD. That was the first sign this whole thing was going to be a mess. But here's the part that really makes my blood boil: WE WAITED ONE HOUR AND FIFTEEN MINUTES FOR OUR FOOD. AN HOUR. AND. FIFTEEN. MINUTES. And it NEVER CAME. Not once did anyone give us a real explanation. No urgency. No apology that meant anything. Just nothing. We were sitting there starving while tables around us were getting served. After wasting over an hour of our lives, we finally said screw this and canceled our order. We walked out hungry and beyond irritated. And you know what? We went to a FAST FOOD place afterward and it was FASTER, BETTER, and actually COMPETENT. That's honestly embarrassing for a place that's supposed to be a legit restaurant. Completely unacceptable. Ridiculous service. A total waste of time and money. I am beyond disappointed -- I'm pissed. Do better.

With having four kids in tow, we requested the room in back where all of the arcade games are, to give the littles space to move around without disrupting others. It's definitely a little quieter up there, with a fair bit less ambiance, but that was fine with us. Service was on the slower end, but still a friendly guy. We first ordered some cheese curds for the table and damn are those good here. Big in size, too. A few brews were had, along with a margarita for me. Very tasty. We then ordered chicken tenders from the kids for our boys to split, and I went with brisket tacos. Tacos are on the pricey side, but certainly delicious. Overall a place we'll continue to return to!
