We stopped to try something new. Should have passed it by. The onion pedals were tiny pieces of chopped onion that had a flavor of last years oil. The chicken fingers were were ground chicken ( frozen) dropped in hot oil. No flavor. The FF were crispy on the outside and soggy inside. The pub burger was probably the only item fresh. I waited 80 mins at least for a meatball sandwich to-go. I waited patiently as the guy kept serving me a beer. When I asked 80 mins later (he said it was going to take an hour). He told me I I initially said "f-it, I can't wait that long". But what I really said was "It is Friday, I am patient and I can wait, I am enjoying myself". Very disappointed in this place. My husband and I wanted to try something new so we decided to stop at Sals. He got to Miller Liked, Half, Beers and I had a bloody Mary we ordered theCajun steak sandwich and I don't understand why they call it that because there was nothing about it that had that flavor and it was super dry and tough and hardly any meat. The bartender was cold, but came back outside from smoking and reeked of cigarettes so I had a smell that why ate. We also ordered poppers for an appetizer and they were piping hot and they were nothing other than Store bought from the frozen section. And somehow my bill came out to $54. The bloody Mary didn't have anything more than a lime and a lemon and a pickle. Slice not a wedge a slice never again. read more

Stopped in to have some food and drink and play a couple of video games. Ordered some food which looked good and tasted fine. However I will never return. I understand this can happen but I wish the cook would have worn gloves. After I finished one sandwich I decided I would order a second. As I approached the bar to place a second order the cook came out of the kitchen and sat at the bar and ordered a bandage from the bartender. The young cook mentioned that his band-aid had fallen off making my first sandwich as he sat at the bar and applied his fresh one to his bloody finger. We wanted to try a new place for Friday night dinner. We chose to eat at the bar. Bartender was very attentive but this is the best thing I could say about the place. Fried cheese nuggets were overcooked and too heavily breaded. Blackened Ahi tuna was overcooked. Fried Haddock was little chunks of overly breaded and over cooked fish. Terrible! read more

Sal's is a most interesting discovery, on the southwest of the Four Corners of Menomonee Falls. bar and grill with a kitchen instead of a grill. The place is too nice to be classified a dive (you don't stick to the floor) but it's not quite a restaurant, either. Sal's appears to be a neighborhood bar "...where everyone knows your name," at least, most of the people there fit that description. It's in a 19th century building that used to be a hotel (so I've been told) and it still has tin ceilings. Tables are tall with bar stools. There's a back room with two pool tables that were unused while I was there. We were greeted by Sal who sat and chatted for a bit. There's lots of microbrews on tap so I started with my go to, Lakefront Riverwest Stein, my dinner partner had the Lakefront IPA. The menu is extensive by pub & grill standards, lots of sandwich choices. From the description of their signature burger, had I ordered it, I'd still be there trying to finish it. I ordered a meatball sandwich, and it was a more than pleasant surprise. There's a lot of effort that goes into the making of the sandwich. The meatballs are loosely packed, soft and easy to bite into. Ground beef, pork, onions, homemade bread crumbs, onions and there's something else in there that I couldn't identify. There was just enough homemade marinara sauce, the sandwich wasn't swimming in marinara like some places do. It was toasted and hot when it arrived at the table, and was served with chips and Sal's cole slaw. My dinner date ordered Chicken Parmesan without singing the little seven note jingle Peyton M. sings. It's served with the same marinara sauce that was on my meatballs that helped make it a great sandwich. Overall, it was a good experience. The music was a little too loud for my taste, making dinner conversation difficult. I'd take off half a star for that if I could, but the food will cause me to return. read more

Sal's! People from my high school seem to dig this spot. Pretty dang solid for a suburban dive bar, methinks. This pub (and grill?) lives right on the corner of Main + Appleton. I ended up here w/ my brother on a St. Patrick's Day for Guinness and good times not too terribly long ago. Additionally, I definitely ran into some folks from high school and saw some of my old teachers, too. Hilarious and fun if not a touch unnerving, but it's all good. Requisite dive bar solidness abounds at this watering hole: jukebox, pool table, regulars... you know the drill. Owned by the same folks that own Su Casa? Their website link on FB seems to suggest it. It also suggests these owners may be the new Menomonee Falls hotness, whatever that means. I came here on a Friday after work and it was a very popular gathering place for local employees. The owners really took care of the large group by setting up a corner with cheese, veggies, and help-yourself chicken wings! The staff regularly checked with the group to see if they were happy and thanked them for coming. Really seemed like they cared. I was there for the drinks. Had a brandy old fashion. The bartender was very responsive and made my drink quickly. Looked like he maybe used an old fashion mix instead of muddling real stuff. For $4.00, it was well priced. Small glass and too much ice kept me from loving it. Overall good place. The place is a typical old bar that is worn, but the staff keep this place feeling local-friendly. read more

I was visiting a friend over the weekend in Menomoniee Falls. Our first stop was Sals. What an experience. Within 5 minutes of sitting down a sloppy drunk old women was falling off the bar stool next to me and put her hands in my drink, obviously trying to get us in a fight with her male companion. All things one might look for in a good dive bar, but at 7:30 pm?, and then for the bartender to watch the whole thing and do nothing as we were basically forced to leave our drinks we didn't finish. read more

This is one of the good pubs to have few drinks! When you enter you are greeted by the bartenders. i have been here couple of times and it seems everybody knows each other! But you won't feel like alone. People are usually welcoming and friendly. Morover their fried fish is excellent on fridays. Also this is fairly priced. read more

Pros: good food Cons: the place smelled of an old nursing home. As we walked to our table and sat ourselves we were never once greeted from the one worker who was not busy. After sitting for just a few minutes the charming worker came over and greeted us. Once taking our order he sat on our table an old greasy 6 pack beer holder with condiments in it. Although this is a cute idea the box should probably be switched more often... possibly daily for sanitary reasons. That was gross. This is my 4th visit to Sal's since my company moved to Menomonee Falls. I have ordered the grilled chicken breast every time and it is the best chicken sandwich I have ever had. Bun is lightly grilled with fresh lettuce and tomato with the most moist chicken breast. Simply amazing!!!! Co-workers also rave about the burgers that I will try next. Sal's was great. This place is seriously underrated. It seems like a typical Wisconsin dive bar but the food was homemade and delicious. The bartender was the only server but he was very friendly and attentive. I had a burger and my fiancée tried the chicken parm sandwich, both were great. We will definitely go back. read more
