I had to give this place another try because I felt my first breakfast dish/experience was probably not the norm by looking at the reviews and the pictures. I really like the neighborhood bar doing 7am breakfast on weekends experience because my neighborhood doesn't have anything like this. The foreign bartender with the the music to my ears accent did a wonderful job taking care of me. The spicy Bloody Mary is always a treat with breakfast here. This time I ordered the lakeside egg burger rare with hash browns mixed with onions. The burger came with a over easy cooked egg so some yoke spills out. The burger was cooked perfectly rare and the bun was fresh and soft, the burger meat and the buns are sourced locally. Second time here. First time service was great and food was 7/10. That was about one year ago. This go around they had a limited menu due to having a chef / staff shortage. They usually have some smoked food and bbq options. Ended up with the Buffalo chicken wrap which was really good except they left the food sitting under the warmer for 20 minutes after we had already waited 20 minutes. Then forgot the actual Buffalo sauce. It was very good though. The space is large, clean, and they have a unique counter height bar with stools on one side. The bartender was very friendly. I've ordered a number of times since the pandemic. Thankfully they messed up the order today and I had to go in to have it corrected. If that didn't happen I wouldn't have known they have 0 masking and 0 social distancing going on from customers and only 1 server with a mask. From what I could tell the kitchen staff was properly wearing masks but the rest of the place is a cesspool of COVID. And, wow we were pleasantly surprised but the tender large white meat chunks, sufficiently breaded and sauced. Several sauce options with up to 2 flavors per order. It's Wisconsin and you know how we love our fish frys. I mean, are you really from Wisconsin if you don't eat a fish fry on Fridays? You're pushing it, just a bit. This fish fry was really well done. Tasty, fish was cooked Welland not greasy. The batter and coating had great flavor and a nice crunch. And the potato pancakes and applesauce were really good too, I think that they were homemade. Rye bread was fresh and a nice addition to the meal. I got an order of their famous housemade potato chips which I really enjoyed. The soft pretzel was fine and the cheese that comes with it was a bit disappointing, cheap, processed and slightly spicy. It felt like belonged with nachos rather than a soft pretzel. Appetizer sampler of fried zucchini, mushrooms, & frickles was quite tasty and arrived promptly, however our main course got lost along the way. He ordered a Reuben, which he said was awesome, I ordered Brisket Tacos - they arrived cold to the touch, tortilla, brisket, sauce, and slaw all cold. Ashlyn took them back to the kitchen so they could make it right, which they did. Brisket was very tasty, though my personal preference is not to put slaw on it, so next time I'll order differently. Unfortunately my rating and review does not include food. We sat ourselves at an open table, at what they claim is the best patio in Cudahy. The table was absolutely filthy which caused flies all around us. We waited for about 10 minutes with no water, menus, or simple hello from staff. Finally a server came over to tell us she didn't know who had our table and then she walked away. We decided, at that point, to just leave. We had such a disappointing experience at Lakeside. We visited on a weeknight in the evening, and it was a little busy when we arrived. It took an hour to receive food, and by the time it came out, the place was empty. Others had arrived after us, received their food in the meantime, and left. The atmosphere was not very welcoming, and the service was awful. There was no explanation of why our food took so long until over 40 minutes had passed, and we were told the kitchen had run out of burger patties and was pressing more. I believe our server forgot to put in our order; at one point about 30 minutes after she took the order, she put an order into the computer and went into the kitchen and closed the door. A few minutes later was when she came over to tell us the order was delayed. We probably should have known after the first 10 minutes of arriving that the experience wouldn't be good. We finished our first drinks by the time our server returned to take our food order. We then proceeded to wait 40 minutes until she returned to tell us our order was delayed. We tried to catch her attention numerous times to ask, but she didn't even look at our table. In the meantime, we saw several orders come and go for the staff, who were standing around a table eating and chatting. We saw random food go out presumably for regulars; there was a definite feel of us being "outsiders", which maybe contributed to the poor service. In that 40 minutes, we didn't even receive our appetizer of Frickles (fried pickles). When our server returned to tell us the food was delayed, she tried to offer us shots, which we found somewhat inappropriate (she ended up comping two of our drinks, to her credit). At that point we were starving and only wanted an explanation of why our food was taking so long in an empty restaurant. I'm not sure why they couldn't have brought out our appetizer at least, as they were perfectly capable of making appetizers for the staff during this time. An hour later, the Frickles came out, shortly followed a few minutes later by the burgers. The Frickles were okay, but kind of bland without the Sriracha aioli that came with them. The burgers were good and the fries were just okay. While I was still eating, still chewing even, our server came back and took our baskets away without even asking. I don't plan to return, and I would not recommend Lakeside. I'm really disappointed I suggested going there in the first place. read more

My fiancé and I came in for an early lunch with our three kids (8, 2, and 6 months). We came to Milwaukee from Cleveland just to visit and see the area, and we just happened to be driving by Lakeside. It's a very comfortable atmosphere, and the brisket pizza was AWESOME. As in, I'll dream about it, try to recreate it at home, and absolutely suggest it to other people. Very friendly, appealing vibe, so we sat at the bar and ordered sandwiches from the bartender, who was as welcoming and professional as he could be.
