I absolutely need to come back and experience this bar on a soccer gameday. I had come here late one night with a friend just to grab a quick drink. The bartenders were so sweet. My friend loves mocktails, so I asked the bartender to make them something fruity. The bartender whipped up one of the most beautiful and delicious blueberry lemonades I've ever seen. If the syrup wasn't homemade, then I'd be shocked. I personally got a coke, and I love they have glass bottles here. It really added to the Spanish aesthetic and feel of this soccer bar. The coolest part? All of the soccer team scarves hanging from the ceiling and the Madison FC mural in the back. If you're a soccer fan, you have to check this place out! read more

My favorite spot to watch soccer in Milwaukee! They play games from most leagues there as well not just premier league. Owner was great and very inviting taking time to have a conversation with us. Everything was fine until it was time to pay my tab (gave the bartender my card when I first got there). I asked to close my tab, she said I didn't have a card there. I went back and forth with her for several minutes. She accused me of being drunk and not knowing what I was talking about. I checked my bank app, and sure enough, it was shortly after used at another establishment. She closed out a tab and gave someone else my card. When I explained this to her, she still was telling me that I didn't know what I was talking about. I think she knew that she messed up, yet refused to acknowledge that she did this. The next day, I had to call my bank/customer service and have my card canceled as well as order a new one. So for a week or more, I won't have a debit card. I'm never going back. read more

Tl:dr if you've got friends who have any remote interest in soccer - this is the place to be. Joe (owner) and Winn (bartender) are two stand up dudes that love soccer and even more than that, drinking. Highbury is a fun atmosphere that's dog-friendly, has plenty of tv screens and always has on the ungodly-early-in-the-morning European soccer games that my dude friends just seem to love (hey, it's not Winn's fault they're so early!) Reasonably priced drinks and you can even get a spiked coffee if you're one of the early risers for soccer. Also a common stop after the ever popular Chill on the Hill events during the summer in Bay View, we loved "swinging" by to see Sweet Sheiks - a jazz/pop band that plays there every Tuesday night (sometimes adorable little swing dancers are there to watch, too!) The person I presumed was the owner or the manager was walking around and chatting with everyone. The bar doesn't have any beers on tap, but had a ton of beer selection. Standard 3 stars for it being my first time here. It's small. I can imagine how difficult it would have been for my asthma back in the smoking days. It's a soccer bar. It's an Arsenal bar. Due to the size I can see games being super crowded but also friendly. It's divey and pretty awesome. Pints are reasonably priced ($5 Magners, $5 Spaten Oktoberfest). Best soccer pub in Milwaukee. I come to this bar most weekend mornings, and during ALL Arsenal games. Every time I have been here, I've had a positive experience. Really great beer selection, friendly, laid-back bartenders, and cool decor. Most popular drinks include bloodies, stiegl radler, magic coffee and my personal favorite, 32 oz Pabst for $4. If there is a big game on the weekend at 6:00 A.M., Joe will have this place up and running at 5:00. They allowed a dog in the bar which I loved since a lot of places don't allow dogs. TV setup was great. They had a lot of large TVs so a number of games could be watched at once in the bar. My love letter for the Highbury: As I sit at the bar, resting my knees on the red cushioned edging, I can't help but reflect (dealing with Man City's sunrise highlighter kit). I choose every weekend to come to this pub to watch a team that my brother raved about. I appreciated the skill and technicality I watched week to week, along with the company I kept. There was no fan organization or club, but I felt a sense of belonging learning the chants and rants by experience. I decided this was the place that I wanted to adopt as my own beyond just spending time with my brother. Times remembered and times forgotten, I met the love of my life at this pub. We are now a house divided of supporter groups, but it has never divided our allegiance with the Highbury. We have family here. Coming to the Highbury is our release, enjoyment, and exclamation to our week. read more

When she told the bartender there was a mistake all he did was offer to buy her a shot. Not fix the issue. After she left, my friend and I wanted to continue to listen to the band so I ordered one more drink. Instead of offering me a tab cause I was going to drink more than one, he was very up front about me paying for my one drink. That was uncalled for. The bartender has no respect for new customers or for reoccurring customers as far as I'm concerned. Won't be returning. Sad cause it's a great atmosphere and the sweet sheiks are fantastic. The Highbury exists for when you're not sure what kind of level you want to get at. As a newerish addition to Bay View livin', I have been slowly picking my way through the local stumbles. I've been to Highbury enough times to become the Duke, apparently, so hear ye hear ye and whatnot. I find myself drawn to the Highbury when I'm not quite sure what kind of mood I'm in. One night, on the fence, I walked in thinking "maybe I'll have a drink and go home", but the Highbury had other plans for me. The bartender was playing the VERY best of all of the 80s jams. She was out of a beer I wanted, so FREE BEER. She felt bad for that, so, FREE SHOT. And then, OH HEY HERE'S ANOTHER FREE BEER. Another time I walked in, thinking I could maybe go for getting rather merry, but then sports was happening so I took that as Highbury telling me to "just go home, buddy". As someone who played soccer for 25 years before blowing out a knee, I'm always looking for somewhere to go to watch matches with other fans. I live right by the Nomad, but choose to go to The Highbury instead. Both are somewhat tiny when you start trying to pack folks in, but there's more seating at the Highbury and they set up the upstairs room with an extra TV and chairs. They made us mimosas and bloody marys and we just had a great time watching games with other fans. I've never been on like a Saturday night, so I can't speak to that. But in terms of a legit place to watch soccer on TV, I wouldn't go anywhere else. read more

This place had the feel, vibe and smell of a rugby bar. Alas, it is actually a soccer bar, or perhaps they would prefer Fut-bal. I was fortunate enough to go to Highbury Pub for Boxing Day 2010 English Premier League games. My beloved Manchester City were playing as well as other big names, but most importantly our bitter rivals Manchester United. Although only drinking coffee the entire morning, the amount of fraternity, fun atmosphere, and activity at Highbury was truly something to remember. The owner was a complete gentleman, setting up a TV so I could watch my game while others were playing, inviting my girlfriend and I to other games/events later in the week - the staff offered us shots for being good sports about the United supporters, and by the end of it (I could not make this up) the crowd at the bar HOISTED ME ON THEIR SHOULDERS and paraded me around the bar in honor of the out-of-towner holding his own in a hostile soccer situation! Haha brilliant. Literally one of the funnest bar experiences I've ever had in my life in any town, and much respect to their staff for being so open about us having a good time. If I lived in Milwaukee, I would totally be a regular, and even if you are just in town for a weekend/wanna watch a game or two of soccer, THIS IS THE PLACE TO BE. When this pub opened years back did it not profess to be a British pub? Eager to toss back a few pints of Bitter I stopped in when it first opened. Besides the large Highbury signage behind the bar and the selection of beers, little else reminded me of a British pub. And why all the tile? It was a friendly boozer if nothing else but I was disappointed with the decor and the way they utilized the small space. And with a plethora of locals to watch Premier League football, this place didn't call me back until a few weeks back when I attended a party there. I was somewhat befuddled by the trashed men's bathroom and the general messiness of the upper back room. And the music selection was suspect, but that is a personal thing. If anything it appeared as though the owners had let the place go quite a bit. But I must admit the service was friendly and the beer cold. I have never seen it crowded enough to matter, but when it's nicer out, I could see it getting a little too close for comfort in there. When you walk in you see the bar to your left and bench seating around the outer perimeter. There are bar stools on the opposite side of the benches and an upstairs area that has a few more benches with low tables. European football is the entire theme of the bar with flags, soccer memorabilia and what appears to be work from local artists in empty spaces along the walls. They have pizza specials, like one pizza and a pitcher of beer for $12, or a pizza for $10. It's really just a cheap frozen pizza, but it's actually pretty tasty for thin crust frozen pizza. If you show up for trivia, the prize is $25 bar tab for first place, $10 for second place, and a free pitcher for best team name. $25 will go a long way there as we have been sitting on $50 worth of bar tabs for a few weeks now. It's a quiet place to chill and watch football or hang out with friends and have a drink. The only suggestion I have is that they serve more food, or bar snacks, or something. There isn't much food here, so don't come hungry. read more

To be completely objective, I have to start off with this: the Highbury is first and foremost a little pub on KK in Bay View. It is a soccer pub. But, most of all, it is a bar that changes day to day (or night to night). It is a great place to watch a game (soccer or not, though soccer will take preference... but you can always ask a bartender to change one of their three LARGE televisions to a game of your choice) and not a bad spot to spend an afternoon especially in warmer weathers. However, the biggest thing to know about this bar is that it is different every single night of the week. The earlier days of the week tend towards a more "quiet" atmosphere and are more relaxed whereas the weekends are a bit loud with live music (either by band or by DJ) and the regulars. However, the music changes now and again. Not to mention: each bartender of the Highbury has a different "style," so service is not always the same (whether by speed or how a drink is made, though that's pretty common in most bars). Nevertheless, all members of the staff are courteous, knowledgeable, and kind. The great thing is that this little pub always has something happening, whether it's a live band or DJ or karaoke... or a soccer match. Not a bad place to have a drink with a friend to unwind or have a good time. There is also a patio available here, but it's only until 10 pm and only on sunny days. read more

I was in town for a buddy's birthday and this was one of the stops. I remember walking in and seeing a couple of guys playing a soccer video game on a big screen character. Their game ended and they asked if anyone else wanted to play. As a person who doesn't pay attention to sports or plays video games, I naturally said, "I will!". As I'm playing this game having no idea what I'm doing, the bar has a cozy, and friendly atmosphere. It seems like a lot of the people there kind of knew each other and the staff were friendly and attentive. I found out that this is a soccer bar and will open super early to play soccer games on TV. Might not be my cup of tea, but it's pretty cool to know that there's a bar specifically for soccer fans. Most sports bars focus on football, basketball, and baseball.
