I had the cowboy ribeye (medium) it was cooked perfectly the French onion soup was very good, the loaded potato was a bit on the dry side , the bill was way higher than expected, because I went off their online menu and also didn't realize there was an up charge for just about everything extra... who charges extra for cheese in French onion soup?!?! First, the website has different prices than the restaurant and it was upsetting. I confront them in person and they didn't honor that posted price which is false advertising. The lady told me that she had no control over what's posted online. Wrong answer. Second, when I called in ordered for pick up and asked them to hold the spicy sauce on an item I previously had, they said it didn't come with it. That's concerning because you are taking orders without knowing what comes with the dish. Third, I go in the restaurant to pick up my order and they have no clear main desk to go to for assistance and never greeted me the few times I have gone to eat. It's awkward and uncomfortable as you stand in the middle of the restaurant staring aimlessly around hoping someone will be there to assist you. I felt so uncomfortable with my experience as a whole. We used to go to Joe's K Ranch for years. We loved the prime rib sandwich & French onion soup. 3 years ago when we went there the quality went downhill. We got this huge bun with very little prime rib on it. Very disappointing for $18!!! We used to have the bun full of meat. We quit going there for a few years but friends wanted to go there last week so we again thought we would try it one more time. I ordered the prime rib sandwich again. We both looked at what I got & couldn't believe the small amount of meat I had on this huge thick bun. It was alot less than 3 yrs ago. There was only a small amount of meat in the middle of bun. The 3" on both sides of bun had no meat & the price was $20 now just for the sandwich. I had to pay $3 for my green beans too. My husband had the pizza burger & he was not happy either! He had a very thin piece of meat on this thick ole bun. He said he used to get a nice piece of meat. Needless to say we will never go back there anymore! The last 2 times were such a huge rip off. My husband also had a bowl of French onion soup. It was only liquid broth with NO onions & cheese on top. We don't mind paying $20 for a sandwich if we get a reasonable amount of meat on it like it used to be. read more

I'm not from Wisconsin but Wisconsin has some traditional meal nights like Friday fish fry and the Saturday prime rib dinner and since this was the 2nd day of the new year and it was Saturday I thought that I would do prime rib. I found it next to impossible to find a prime rib dinner at lunch time after doing a lot of research and phone calls until I called this place, they have prime rib all day and it was a bookmark already. The place is another one of those south side bar and restaurant where the bar was more popular at lunch time with only one couple in the dining room. The place has a bar at each end of the building and 2 dining rooms in the middle. The place isn't fancy but it's nice and not a dive. Since it was the new year I was going all out for lunch today something I don't usually do at lunch. I ordered a spicy Bloody Mary, Rhinelander chaser, baked French onion soup, 10 oz rare prime rib with hay stack onions. My spicy Bloody Mary was ok but everyone does bloodys different and it was spicy and the Rhinelander was a perfect match. I wasn't expecting baked French onion soup today but it was on the menu and it was pretty good with crunchy bread/croutons that survived the broth which was good and better than average broth wise and not salty with flavor and a nice amount of cheese and onions. The hay stack onions didn't look like hay stack onions and more like onion rings with a light and crispy batter which were good. My prime rib came on a lake of aju for some reason but I would rather had a cup for dipping the whole bite in. I hardly ever order the prime rib because I like raw red meat but the prime rib looked great with a beautiful pink color and it obviously had some fat hand trimmed off as to look super fatty. My first bite was like wow this is tender and moist with a little fat in the bite that made it tasty, I'm sure that there is a better prime rib out there for someone who eats it all the time but liked it for a hard core raw red meat, you can't under cook it or bloody it enough guy. Overall all my prime rib dinner with soup and drinks was pretty good and just what I wanted to start the new year off right. When my check hit the table I was amazed that my great lunch was just $26.49 for a prime rib dinner, sides and drinks. Obviously I have had better versions of all my food today but value vs quality here is definitely on point and probably the best kept secret on the south side. I would have no problem going back for more of the menu and drinks. read more

Sometimes you just have to go Kranching. Service gets slow at peak times, it's great if you're in for an early supper. Very good fish fry, pretty good prime rib, any of the pub fare like burgers are all good. Good selection of beer, ample parking lot, I prefer the sunny room to the right when you walk in, there's also a big bar and a smaller darker room in between. I think this might be the best place for dinner in Cudahy. read more

I just tried the K Ranch for the first time for lunch with family. It looks like your classic dive bar. The service was absolutely incredible! I ordered a gin and tonic, French onion soup, the wonton mozzarella sticks, a 10 oz prime rib, and the mac and cheese. I was very impressed. The appetizers were great and the prime rib was tender and tasty. The mac and cheese was delicious and the top was broiled. This is a great hidden gem and I will certainly be back again! read more

Tonight my husband and I decided to stop in for a late dinner. I was really looking forward to french onion soup and a sandwich. When we walked in 3 servers were sitting at a table and it was obvious we were bothering them. We were seated and given a bread basket and water. A server briefly glanced at us as she walked by and said she would be right back. Well 10 minutes later, without an offer of a drink or anything else for that matter we walked out. Although it was a Saturday night it was later so there were very few other tables (they all had at least drinks) . My husband and I enjoy going out to dinner. We are polite and easy to please. The server probably missed the best tip of the night so I guess it is her loss. If you are a business who is going to serve food later at night you should have a staff that wants to work. read more

Getting Kranched, Kranching, etc. Now that my linguistic primer is over I will say that Joe's has a very supper club vibe with the prime rib special. Yes - you get a bread basket with this dinner that contains the most amazing garlic bread pieces. It's a great trade up from the traditional breadstick. You won't stop at eating once piece - trust me! I wished there was a tub of cheese spread staring at me in addition to the butter. The prime rib is a great value and on Monday's you get $4 bucks off your slab of meat. Along with the bread basket you get soup or salad plus a side. I despise bottled dressing so I was pleased that they make their own ranch dressing. I opted for the mac and cheese which was carb-loaded delicious. The star of the meal was my rare prime rib which has a nice seasoned crust on it with some salty au jus. I would put Joe's prime rib against the higher priced places any day. The vibe is a combo of up-north meets the city with the friendliness of a rural supper club. It's a fun place and worthy of your visit! If you don't want the prime rib they have an extensive menu of other tasty items. read more

Larry took great care of us this evening- came in with a big group of 8 heading to the Brewer's game during prime fish-fry time and he found us all a spot at the back bar (versus an hour wait for a table!) and made sure we were well taken care of. Went on Mother's Day for dinner. They didn't advertise that they only had the Mother's Day buffet and not their regular dinner menu. Took disabled parents and didn't realize it until they were already seated with drinks. Then was charged $42 for the buffet per kid that only ate bread (since they didn't like anything from the buffet). When I called to complain, they lied about the website saying it said the buffet was going to be that day (we specifiy checked beforehand). Management didn't care and said they posted flyers in the restaurant. Well, I don't go there so how would I know? That's what the website is for!!! Congrats on getting me for $300+! This was my first time going to this restaurant. When I pulled up the parking lot was jam packed. I could see they have sand volleyball courts off to the side of the restaurant. Once we entered there was a huge bar to the left and two dining rooms to the right. There were not very many people inside the restaurant so all the cars outside must have been the volleyball leagues. The menu is quite large with everything from appetizers, sandwiches, soups, salads, and full course entrees. We started with cocktails and 2 of us ordered Old Fashions which were mediocre at best. No muddling involved or even a garnish and too sweet! I ordered mine dour and thought it was too sweet. I'm thinking they use a mix and I would not recommend it. My other friend played it safe with white wine. My one friend had been before and said she really enjoyed the prime rib dip. So she and I decided to get that and my other friend decided on the pulled pork sandwich. The prime rib dip came with choice of soup or salad and a side. They offer great sides like cheesy potatoes, hash browns, baked potato, sautéed green beans and pasta. The food was good. I would have liked my prime rib a little rarer. The au jus was fantastic. I ordered the baked French onion soup which was good but would have liked more onions in it. My friends thought their meals were good as well. Overall my take away is I would definitely go again and try something different. But not in a rush to go back! read more

I have always heard good things about this place... Well it must have been from people who like bland unflavorful food, super slow service and have 2.5 hours to eat, when it wasn't busy. Watch out for the hidden charges (i.e. nasty sour cheese cup with the pretzels, a side of fries with your over priced for the quality sandwich/ wrap...). Grilled chicken breast was dry, overcooked and burnt tasting. Crispy burnt sausage patty for the pizza burger. Best things were the can of beer and Italian peppers. Had to ask for the bill after sitting for almost 30 minutes after the meal was over. To get the bill split.... Well that was another task... I had to physically get up, walk to the bar and pay the bill. I was ignored multiple times while sitting in the dining room. There are so many choices in the area. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Steer clear and find something else. read more

There is something about Joe's K Ranch that screams Wisconsin, and more specifically, the south side. Whenever I bring people to town that have not visited Milwaukee before, we end up at the K ranch for at least one drink. This is the kind of local spot that screams Wisconsin's blue collar culture from all angles. As far as parking goes, the k Ranch has a large private parking lot, so you should never have an issue finding parking. Once you walk in, they have a dining area to the right with fish fries and other local staples. To the left you will find the bar area. as you can expect in Wisconsin, there is a juke box, some darts, and a line of video poker machines. The interesting thing about the actual bar is that the seats are attached to the bar by a pole. The bar top is old school, and adds to the feel and authenticity of the place. The bar itself can make whatever sort of drink you are looking for. We always order old fashioned sweets, which they have a premixed mixer set up for. The taps are not extensive, but have all of the local staples. The bartenders and patrons are nice. We have never run into a problem at the ranch. The beauty of the juke box is that you never know what you are going to be jamming out to as the night plays on. It is as random as the people in the room at the time. I've been here a few times for take out and once for dine in. Take out was great with the fried chicken bucket hot juicy and potato wedges thick and good. First time sat by bar area it was kinda busy and didn't get a lot of attention from bartender kinda was busy helping the regulars but another bartender came in and helped out more. Just an FYI getting the fried chicken dine in takes about 25 mins to make so be patient. They have sandwiches and pasta, fish fry, chicken many good things. The back room is nice with windows could be used for a party room see the volleyball court from the windows. In front is the bar area and some seating as well.
