Okay people... if you're looking for a phenomenal Wing Wednesday deal, this is your place! 6 for $6, and 12 for $10! The wings are amazing, as shown in the pics, and we loved how they were a little charred! The place itself is a nice little corner bar with GREAT beer prices and good food, as we have went a few times now! The bartenders and cook they have (sometimes the bartenders are both which is cool!) are always super nice and friendly, but also VERY efficient at what they do! We love going here now, and we will forever recommend it!

We had a larger group and were able to find seats at the bar. We showed up around 6pm on a Tuesday. The bartender also prepared food so service did take a little longer than we had expected. She did great while managing other customers as well. A good and chill place to hang out with friends. Prices weren't bad. Food 3/5 Service 5/5

Walter's is a lot like Cheers. They take time to know your name and usual order, they lend an ear, they care about the community they are in, they have a team that complements each-other well, and they've created a familial atmosphere where everyone feels at home with shared respect. Sure, this corner bar is like stepping into a time machine but it's up-kept and comfortable. Sure, you'll hear off-color banter from time to time but it helps broaden debate between patrons. Sure, Walter's is not 100% perfect but who needs perfect? Walter's has become my weekday lunch staple, in part thanks to a solid yet small menu offered at a great price. I know no matter what day of the week I go I'll see the friendly regulars bellied up to the bar drinking Schlitz, I'll see Jimmy manning the grill located behind the long bar, and I'll see one of the great bartenders like Abby with my drink of choice in-hand and all ready to take my order. Favorite food offerings at Walter's: 1.) Wednesday half pound black angus burger special which I top with raw onions and pepperjack cheese and order medium rare. Jimmy is a master at getting the perfect temp for these burgers, as man alive does the burger just melt in my mouth. Oh, and the bakery bun is definitely up for the job of soaking in all those juices without falling apart. 2.) Friday cod fish fry with fries, buttered rye bread, coleslaw, tartar and lemon. I love that you can order a 2 or 3 piece here, as I try to keep my meals fairly small. For $7.50 I can get a more than filling 2-piece fish fry and leave 100% satisfied. Crispy yet not too thick batter on the fish, a well balanced creamy/vinegar coleslaw and great tarter that I attempt to not lick out every last bit. 3.) BLT ($7). Yes, seriously. On your choice of bread (I opt for marble rye) is a hefty amount of mayonnaise, firm tomatoes, crispy leaf lettuce, and a pile of bacon that has been deep fried to perfection, as it is thick enough to chew instead of crumble but still crispy. I'm actually not a fan of tomatoes on a sandwich or a burger as they get soggy and tend to dampen the entire operation... Yet, here they are part of this dream team of a sandwich. Oh, and I pair all of these with a side order of fries for just a $1.50! What I need to do is stop in here at night. I've heard great things about their Wednesday wing special (supposedly better than Point's East) and Thursday taco special (ground beef, chicken, pork, and a vegetarian option). During these crazy COVID-19 times they've reduced their hours, yet they are still offering their food to go. I highly recommend you support them by calling in an order for pick up at 414-774-0440 and then come on back again once they reopen. Walter's isn't a destination, but it is a place that's not to be missed and I'll be back over and over again.

This has been one of those long time bookmarks that I didn't know when I would get over until today by accident. I went to another bar in the area for a burger and beer lunch only to find out that Friday and Saturday are the only days that they serve food so I jumped on yelp to find another bar with food and Walters was close so I went over. The place is a nice neighborhood bar with friendly people. Approximately 10 taps on hand and a grill in the middle of the bar and I didn't have to leave a credit card to start my beer lunch, inside joke from another bars beer lunch fiasco. The menu is small and I will post a picture but I was having a burger with lettuce, tomato, raw onion pickles and cheese only to keep it simple when I build a burger. I asked for rare and the woman cooking my burger kinda panicked because she didn't want to over cook it and took my order. The burger and toasted buns are cooked on a char grill which I like because that adds flavor to the meat. When my cheeseburger hit the bar it looked good on a nice bun, no generic back yard bbq bun. The fresh toppings were thick cut with leaf lettuce, my personal fav for a burger. The burger was cut in half so I could see that it was cooked rare, nice. The bun looked bready but it was fresh/light and soft. The cheeseburger was tasty with the fresh cold toppings right to the last bite, I marveled how tasty it was because it was so simple. Overall they do a good cheeseburger and at $11 with a tap IPA for lunch it's pretty reasonable and hit the spot for a beer and cheeseburger lunch.

Before the safer at home order due to Covid-19 came into our lives and reeked havoc, we were regulars at Walters as we live very nearby. It's a fun spot to hang out, meet with friends, and grab a bite to eat. The specials always draw a crowd. So, during this unsettling time, we wanted to support them and ordered their Thursday night tacos to go. While we missed the social aspect from before, we enjoyed the tacos and beer to go. Best of all, we got to support one of our favorite locals.

Hamm's and wings with Phoenix sauce.

Stopped in for a beer and food. Hamm's on tap so couldn't pass that up. Wing special today so the Phoenix. Just the right amount of kick and perfectly crispy just how I like.

I've been coming here for years ... awesome big burgers.... not a big menu, but excellent food... neighborhood bar, great owner and employees ... very friendly and great service ...

This place is a great gem stashed right in front of your eyes yet overlooked!! They have a nice size full bar, great food selection with the grill top right at the bar. Prices are very reasonable! That sandwiches and burgers will leave you wanting More! There is an outside smoking area if this is your thing. There is a private parking lot as well as street parking. So the interior is a bit dated, but I think that is part of the charm!! There is a very large seating area that is suitable for private partys or quiet private moments. They have 1 beautiful shuffle board that is still in use. Bathroom's are not gender neutral but everything is wheelchair accessible. This is a Must Try Spot!! Great location to visit before and after a Brewers Game!!! Nice choice of Micro Brews too! Have Fun

I should have listened to them because I went with more of a lunch/dinner type item and it wasn't made the way I asked for it. My husband also went lunch/dinner and also did not get what he asked for. Staff was frustrated and apologetic, but I didn't love the delay after a long day at work. Thankfully the second time was the charm and my bananas foster milkshake was quite good and definitely something I would recommend. A member of staff had their little one hanging around, and while I don't normally care about that, when they wandered outside and were playing a bit closer to the street than I was comfortable with, I knew it was time to go. The outdoor seating is directly on the sidewalk, so if that is not your jam, look to sit inside instead, though this did not bother me at all. Next time I come I would listen to my friends and hope for an error free breakfast item instead!

We arrived with three people (one a regular due to GF dietary needs) and started at the bar while waiting for a table. Right away, the service felt off. My friend asked about a martini -- understandable if that's not offered, but the bartender's response came across more curt than courteous. When she explained she was hoping for something more savory, that could've been a chance to suggest alternatives, but instead he just walked away. My own drink, which I'd ordered before, was supposed to come flaming with a cinnamon stick, but it was served plain. Without the flame, the cinnamon stick added nothing. We also weren't given straws and had to grab them ourselves. The bigger issue was around my friend's gluten-free needs. When she asked about the coconut water, the bartender admitted he wasn't sure but assumed it was fine because "that's the restaurant's thing." Instead of checking the container or showing her the label (which is standard at most places), he told her to look it up online. That felt dismissive and concerning -- especially since the brand isn't certified GF and could risk cross-contamination for someone with celiac disease. We decided to stay and order food: crack fries, chicken tenders, pork tacos, fried rice with jerk chicken (suggested by our waitress as a protein add-on), and a Caesar salad. The fries (with volcano ranch) were excellent, as always -- honestly the highlight of the meal. The tacos were good, and my friend enjoyed her tenders. But the rest fell flat: the salad had brown lettuce, and the jerk chicken in the fried rice came shredded and bland, almost boiled, instead of the grilled/seasoned style we expected. The rice itself was gummy and lacked flavor. My friend didn't touch it, and the waitress didn't seem to notice or ask about it. When the bill came, they did credited $5.50 of the $6 for the chicken add-on. No offer of to-go boxes, despite lots of food left behind. Overall, the service felt inattentive, the drinks underwhelmed, and the food was hit-or-miss -- especially for the prices. It's frustrating since this is one of the few GF-friendly spots for my friend, but based on this visit, we may just stick to at-home dinners together instead.

The honey added a velvety sweetness to the soft, gooey curds that made this appetizer taste more like a dessert! For an entree I tried the Maple Ginger Lettuce Wraps. I was surprised there were no knives at the table, but in the end I didn't need one. The maple ginger teriyaki chicken was extremely tender and juicy. The cucumber slices that accompanied were large and crispy and tasted great with the sauce. The romaine slices were large and perfectly cut to cradle the chicken and hold the cilantro lime sauce. All in all an wonderful, fresh dish that was refreshing and filling.

Otherwise I might have thought they were closed and kept going (special glass that cuts down glare inside?). Once inside there are several different areas for seating; the bar with stools, the front windows ledge with more stools, or the center area that has larger tables for various size groups. Lots of natural light from the front windows. The interior design, is a bit industrial, well lit, and welcoming. Things were neat and clean. Inside there was a short line to the counter which was right ahead. Took a few minutes to arrive at counter and order. Got a pleasant greeting and help with the order. I ordered the usual London Fog Tea Latte (little lavender, little vanilla, and extra foam). They didn't have much in the way of pastries/bakery. They were out of the Coffee Cake, but suggested the Apple Galette supplied by Miss Molly Bakery. They don't have the ability to warm up the bakery, which was a little disappointment. They took their time steeping the tea, which is a good thing. It came with a nice head of foam, had great flavor, and was the right temperature (148F). Texture-wise it could have been a little creamier. The Apple Galette was amazing. The crust was flakey and nicely sprinkled with course sugar. The apples had great flavor and were moist. The atmosphere was relaxed and most people were having quiet conversations. There's a very chill cat (Sugar) roaming around the place, and occasionally keeping people company. Not my favorite, but definitely a place that I would return to.
