On one of our visits the guy behind the bar was so loud and basically stood back there and drank lite the whole time. Then a local (I'm assuming) said something to the bartender and he shouted back "F**k you old man"! I asked someone at the bar does the owner know that his employee uses that kind of language? Much to my surprise he told me that the bartender is the owner! Are you kidding me? If you are visiting from out of town or new to town there are a lot better places to go that they don't use that kind of language. Not that I'm a prude or anything because I've used that language...I guess it's more shocking to hear it when you have people in your bar you've never seen. I was going to give it one star but decided I'd give it two because we just moved here and some friends of mine were in town and I thought I'd give them a second chance. We were met by a very nice bartender named Cassie. She was attentive and probably knew as an EMPLOYEE not to talk that way. Anytime someone came in she greeted them. The kicker here? The "owner" was sitting on the other side of the bar playing dice and still using that language and of course drinking miller lite. We'll go when she is working and/or their daytime bartender Ray. He knows a lot about sports and had a great conversation with my husband.

Came here for dinner and unfortunately left pretty underwhelmed overall…read more The restaurant itself was clean, and service initially started off fine. When we first arrived, the restaurant was not busy. Only a couple other tables occupied, so expectations were fairly high for a smooth experience. Unfortunately, things quickly went downhill. The food took quite a while to come out despite how slow it was. When it finally did, it was first delivered to the wrong table before eventually making its way to us. The food runner then randomly grabbed a ranch from our table and brought it to another table. He seemed potentially new, but overall the service felt very disorganized and clueless, especially considering the restaurant wasn't busy. We ordered the cheese curds to start, and they were disappointing. The breading was mushy and extremely greasy, and the cheese itself tasted low quality rather than the fresh curds you'd expect at a Wisconsin pub. We also ordered several wing flavors since they were on special: garlic parm, buffalo, bourbon BBQ, and lemon pepper. One issue right away was the lack of flavor variety overall on the menu. The wings themselves were inconsistent. Sizes varied dramatically, which clearly affected the cook quality. Some were fried so hard they were like chewing leather, while others had soggy, undercooked skin. Flavor wise the buffalo were almost completely flavorless. The lemon pepper was extremely mild. The garlic parm was probably the best of the group, though still just average. The bourbon BBQ was rough. The sauce tasted like an overly sweet, overly salty cheap jarred glaze rather than an actual house-made BBQ sauce. My wife ordered the Mary Mac burger without a bun and was told extra lettuce leaves could be substituted to make it a lettuce wrap. Instead, it came out with just shredded lettuce. The burger itself was overcooked and lacking flavor. The fries were decent enough, but nothing memorable. Overall, this felt like a place with potential that just missed the mark on both execution and consistency during our visit.

Signage outside indicated that they have fish fry on Wednesday night so that was a plus for me. He had a water street melt with chips and fried cheese sticks. He asked for his burger to be cooked medium. The menu indicated his burger had onion spread on it. His burger was not cooked medium but well done. The onion spread was a "sauce overload" and not a pleasant addition to the melt. The cheese sticks were wrapped in a won ton wrap and deep fried. They were served with a marinara. The cheese sticks could have used some type of seasoning to give them flavor. Very bland. I had the fish fry special of fried perch. Mild fishy flavor and definitely frozen. Thin crumb breading that had some type of seasoning. I choose fries, coleslaw, and rye toast. The fries and toast were the best parts. I wanted tartar sauce for my fish but it was so sweet that it wasn't good with the fish. Service was fine. She needed to leave before us and asked if we wanted to close our ticket. We didn't plan on staying as we're traveling so we closed it out. Location was easy to find. Bar area was clean.

My Mr. Plus 1 tried the seafood combo (scallops, shrimp and fish) and I went with perch. Both were above average for a bar fish fry . The breading is delicate and delicious. Becky, the owner, makes her own german potato salad and homemade potato pancakes...that sealed the deal for Plus 1. Place was hopping, every seat at bar taken with people waiting for tables or enjoying a cocktail afterwards the entire time we were there. Overlook the lack of decor and give it a try. This being a restaurant- I weight the food heaving in the rating as that is why you go to a restaurant. Where do I begin?! I ordered the Lord something or other - where you get brisket, chicken, and ribs. The brisket was absolutely awful. Gray, sliced thin, flavorless, very tough. Severely overcooked with zero fat content, dry as a bone. More like rawhide. Drenched in sauce - and if you have to ad sauce to try to make brisket edible - it's no good. Just bad. The ribs- oddly - had a bark like outer covering but I can't speak to flavor because they were drenched in sauce. I sincerely cannot understand how anyone could think this is barbecue. The chicken- over cooked, tough, and again, drenched in sauce. Asparagus- overcooked and slimy - even though it was supposed to be grilled. It wasn't. For the price of the meal, the quality was extremely low. One of my worst meals this year. If I was a chef - I'd be embarrassed this left my kitchen. Lastly, ordered a prickly pear cocktail. Tasted like watermelon. I've had prickly pear juice and drinks before- this had no discernible flavor that resembled prickly pear. All in all- I cannot recommend this restaurant at all. Please- go somewhere else. Anywhere. This food was just flat out bad and very poor quality.

Food: We ordered the Gyro Wrap, Bacon Cheeseburger, and a side of Sweet Potato Fries. The cheeseburger was very good, although the bacon was a bit dry and overcooked. The sweet potato fries were also good, arriving hot and flavorful. The Gyro Wrap was a bit disappointing. The meat looked like thin slices that had been thawed out and overcooked. On the positive side, the prices were very reasonable. Service: The bartender was very friendly, greeting us as we entered and getting us settled at the bar. She was also the cook and was doing her best to keep drinks filled while preparing food orders. The place became busier after we arrived, and one of the regulars actually jumped behind the bar to act as "Johnny-on-the-spot." How's that for customer loyalty? Apparently, everyone there comes to drink. I ordered a tonic with lime, and the bartender must have heard "tonic" and assumed I wanted a gin and tonic. This happened twice in a row. It was more amusing than upsetting. Atmosphere: The place is a typical small lake bar and grill. The décor is rustic and unpretentious. Regulars are greeted by their first names, and strangers seem to have no hesitation about getting to know their barmates. There is a nice view of the lake just across the road. Unfortunately, when you're sitting at the bar, that view is behind you. I'd like to stop back and try the Prime Rib Sandwich, which came highly recommended by the bartender.

It wasn't until recently when they started to actively promote themselves on social media that I thought of them before others as a place to try. I called in an order of fried haddock with potato pancakes and mozzarella sticks as an appetizer. I also ordered an extra piece of haddock. The food was ok. The the mozzarella sticks looked homemade but the potato pancakes did not. It weirded me out that the haddock was in little pieces instead of traditional sized pieces. The breading didn't have much flavor, which was a shame given how much fish there was. When I asked for the extra piece of fish, I was told by the person that answered the phone that they didn't know the cost as they were just helping out that night. I (unfortunately) didn't press for an answer because extra pieces at other restaurants are typically close to $3 and I was ok with something in that ballpark. To my utter shock, the bill showed the extra piece (or pieces) was an outrageous $9. Never in my wildest dreams would I pay $9 for an extra piece of fish, especially when the haddock dinner itself was only $11. I should have refused the extra piece when I found out or just left without any of the food, but sadly I didn't. It also would have been nice had they waited to make the extra piece(s) until I got there and could inform me that it was $9. I absolutely would have said no thanks at that point. Frankly, I'm embarrassed that I've never given them a review before now. Haddock, in my opinion, is more elevated than the cod served elsewhere and extra pieces can be added for a reasonable price.
