This is our 3rd visit. Food is consistently good. Our server , Brooke, was exceptional!

I so enjoyed our recent experience at Ella's Public House. We stopped by for dinner on a brisk autumn evening. We started with cocktails, which were delicious. I was surprised to see a sazerac on the cocktail menu (the vibes are more basic bar beverages) but it is indeed on the menu. I ordered it and it was a beautifully rendered sazerac. For our appetizer we ordered and enjoyed the burrata. The burrata was creamy, delicate, and balsamic drizzled. It's served with small garlic toast and was a wonderful start to the meal. For my main, I got the caesar salad with salmon added. The caesar was chopped (no overly large leaves of romaine to contend with), crisp, and perfectly dressed. The addition grilled salmon topped it off to make a wonderful and filling meal. The service was attentive and efficient. The atmosphere is deceptive-at first glance it has a basic sports bar dining room vibe--but, check out the sunken fireplace with soft bench seating. I can picture myself there with a cocktail this winter. Such cozy vibes! Get to it! read more

Had a Friday night reservation for 7:30. Had to wait a few min longer to be seated, but once we had a table it took about 10-15min before were were acknowledged by a server who had to ask if we were helped yet. Aside from the service being slow and food taking a long time the food and drinks were good. They list muddled lemonades on the menu, which is a lie because the strawberry lemonade just had flavored syrup in it, not real fruit, which muddled would signify. The fish fry was good, not super oily from the fryer, and decent sized pieces. I enjoyed the Old Fashioned, but as expected with no drink prices listed, it was $12. read more

Stopped in tonight for our Friday fish fry. Sorry I didn't take a pic. If you are stopping in and they have the Pretzel crusted whitefish served on a bed of fettuccine noodles I tell no lies! My grandson tried it and said this is the best fish fry ever! Two thumbs up! I kid you not this kid is one of the most Finicky kids that there is. For him to say he likes something it's a miracle. We came for the prime rib on a Saturday night. We were seated promptly but that was the last thing that was prompt. It took 15 minutes before someone came for our drink order, another 10 minutes to get them. We ordered our meals and it was nearly an hour before they arrived at our table. What the heck? We watched multiple tables order their steaks, get served said steaks, eat their meals, pay and leave. When we finally received our food it was lukewarm but at that point we were afraid to send them back for fear we'd have to wait another hour. The flavor was good - no complaint about the actual food other than the temperature - but we were there for almost 90 minutes before we ever even got it. With so many places on my "to try" list there is no need for us to go back to Ella's. read more

We have been to Ella's a few times in the past month. It's a really cozy place on the inside. Come in for drinks or stay for a bite to eat. They have a great beer menu and tasty food. Loved the nachos and big pretzel on the appetizer menu. The burger with the mac and cheese with pork was to die for. The fries are good too. We jokingly asked our waiter to tell us a joke and when he came back with our drinks he delivered! If you haven't been to Ella's in a while or at all, give it a try! I'm really surprised to see the rating so low of Ella's. We stumbled upon this place once and tried some of the apps. They were delicious! So we decided to trek on another backroad motorcycle ride to try something else and enjoy the fall colors. It was a 50 minute drive and worth it! We tried different apps and they were great! My husband boasted that these are now his top favorite wings. Crispy with charred/grilled sauce giving it amazing flavor. We will be back! read more

Moved to the area in 2018 so this has been a common "go to" place but tonight will be our last as customers. I'm giving a 2nd star only because the bar service is awesome, but we're done with their food. We ordered a few to-go meals on our way home after picking up our children, upon arrival asked specific questions if items were included in the packages without untying the bags they'd prepared, and they said yes. Upon getting home, every meal had something wrong or missing. When we called to ask questions, the waitress/hostess said multiple times that things were not included with the meals, but the menu says otherwise, when challenged - they said it's not in their ordering system or "they ran out" and multiple "I don't know" or "they weren't sure" comments -- No interest in apologizing or trying to fix anything. read more

We came here with family for an early dinner snack time meal with 7 people. We were seated promptly and our server Kate, appeared to introduce herself and take drink orders. That went smoothly. At the appropriate time Kate appeared to take orders for food. We all figured out what we wanted and specifically I ordered boneless chicken wings, pineapple teriyaki and ordered 6 because there were half price on a Sunday. Everyone else ordered things that were also easy to understand or so I thought. All orders were presented in a fairly long period of time because the restaurant was getting more patrons. My chicken wing order arrived with regular wings, not boneless. I noted this to Kate and she said she would have them redone. What arrived in 8to 10 minutes, after everyone was half done eating was 6 , 3/4 inch chunks of overdone chicken with little pineapple and strong teriyaki flavoring. One of our other members had an order of 10 regular wings which were more than twice the size of my Oder of six and appeared very meaty. Other ordered were delivered ok, but not especially great, thus the star rating I had to give. I would dread ordering this little chunks if they were full price and smaller than McDonald's nuggets, and overcooked to compound the problem. read more

Ella's is a great place to have fun, relax and dine. Drinks and food are great. They work very hard to put together specials to keep the menu interesting. Staff is lovely. They may be short on staff, but I can tell they are all working hard to make sure that everyone has a great experience. read more

Went here with a large group on a Sunday afternoon. The service and food were great. Our only real complaint was the lack of shade where we were sitting. There were no blinds or other window coverings, so people sitting on one side of the table had to squint in the sunlight throughout the meal - not the best experience. The consensus among the group was that the burgers were great. Our group also tried the cheese curds, burrata, chicken salad sandwich, prime rib sandwich and a couple of flatbreads. I also had a huge side order of the Maui chips - fantastic! I saw a really unique flatbread on the menu and had to try it. Called the Ella's flatbread, it had apples, blue cheese, fontina cheese, coppa, and caramelized onion with a balsamic drizzle. Yeah... not my favorite - but it was unique. I also ate about a quarter of my wife's Ella Burger - with mushrooms, caramelized onion, bacon and aged cheddar. That was awesome! read more

Stopped in today after many time's passing it while traveling to camper/home. Will definitely be pulling in again. Food , atmosphere, bartender were all great. Fantastic food, great daily specials, and cozy atmosphere! Ella's is perfect for date night, family night out, or to meet friends for a drink. In my 30 years of being a vegetarian I have never experienced cauliflower "chicken" wings, but this place absolutely crushed it! The veggie burger is one of the best I've had and I love the wide variety of tasty drinks/beer on tap. Stop in and support this great local business! read more

The food is consistently good, but don't come if you have a timeline. I can't count the number of times I've sat at a table for 20 minutes and no one came to take our order. An excellent spot for a cozy atmospheric Wisconsin lunch or supper with an excellent beer wine and spirit collection, and the cocktails and service are second to none in the area. Only reason it might feel slow is there's 120 people inside on a big night! Might be a bit on the pricey side for a bar but you are getting every bit of what you pay for. We've lived in the area for 3 years and finally visited today. The bartender seemed fairly cordial. Ordered a basket of fries to hold us over until dinner and when we got them, first of all, not a typical size of a "basket" order and second, they must have taken all the leftovers and piled them in. Just moved down the road so thought we would try it. After an hour wait to be seated, we ordered beer battered fish fry and it was not edible. That was honestly the worst fish fry I have ever tasted. The service was mediocre, my water was never refilled and the waiter forgot my clam chowder. Why the place was busy will forever be a mystery to me. read more

The service was attentive, the drinks were great, the food however was mediocre at best. I had the deluxe burger with homemade Maui chips. The chips were stale and tasteless other than the salt on them. The burger was cooked to the right color but it was not juicy. The cheese was melted all over the plate. The waiter didn't ask how I wanted my steak done, and I never received the soup that was included in my meal. When we gave him a card to pay, we had forgotten to also give him a coupon that we brought along (the whole reason why we went there in the first place), and he stated that it was too late to use it. I work in food service, and if someone were to present a coupon to me after the transaction was completed, I would refund the transaction and ring it up again because the customer went out of their way to stop in at this location. read more

Decided to give a try for early dinner Saturday. The place looks really nice with the addition of garage doors and beer related artwork. Sat at the bar first for a cocktail first. The menu for food is small, sandwiches and a few nightly specials, but the drink menu was interesting and boasting of prohibition era crafted cocktails. I was disappointed that the Aviation was missing from this list so I went for the French 75. Would have been fantastic except it was first topped with the small amount of sparkling wine that was leftover and flat from who knows when before opening a fresh bottle. Drink was $10 and husband had a tap beer. For dinner we went to the sun room and I immediately noticed that in all the years and changes of ownership no one has yet to replace the windows. The seals are broken on all of them and due to condensation you can barely see out of them. I ordered the filet special and husband the smoked prime rib. He enjoyed his , I didn't try but it did look like a thinner cut. I think $24. Mine was ordered medium but arrived at the brink of well done. Now it's my own fault for not reading the description more thoroughly on the menu but my steak had an overwhelming taste of liquid smoke. It was awful. The topping of crispy pork fat would have been a better addition to the delicious Brussel sprouts on the side. The potatoes were creamy and delicious. The prime rib came with a salad, the filet did not at $30. Our server was very friendly but I did notice she dressed a bit casual and sloppy for the position. Last night was our first time at Ella's...it will probably be the last time! We sat at the bar for a drink and dinner. My husband had the walleye almandine and I had the chicken salad sandwich. We asked for a description of both items (ie. ingredients and method of preparation) but neither the bartender or waitress could describe very well what we were asking about. That should have been the first red flag. The walleye was acceptable but not great for a fish fry. However, the chicken salad sandwich was a huge amount of mayonnaise with canned chicken and 3 or 4 grapes halves and 3 slices of celery on a croissant. It had NO flavor and was soupy! These items were served at least 45 minutes after ordering. We had arrived early (4:30pm) since we had to be somewhere by 6:30. There was no follow up from either the bartender or waitress...terrible customer service. read more

Ella's is the kind of place you go to because it's close to where you live. My experience has been that the food is good but the wait time can be bad (even had to wait an additional 15 minutes for a pick up). Cocktails are often served with a light pour. read more

Tasty food and friendly staff. Highly recommended. Overview-- I've been here several times. The Friday fish fry and the Wednesday wing special are very popular. Over 12 beers on tap and plenty of wine and cocktails to choose from. Atmosphere-- The bar is exquisite and the fireplace is inviting. The whole place is very clean. However, some of the tables and chairs have seen better days. Overall, a family-friendly place. Service-- Servers are friendly and helpful. It was packed on Friday for the fish fry. Waited a bit longer to be seated and served than we would've liked, but the food was worth it. Food-- Hands down best in the area in this price bracket. I can tell the kitchen is working with fresh ingredients. Try the lobster corndog or the chicken wings as an appetizer, followed by the cowboy burger or fried chicken dinner. Pair with a tap micro brew or old fashioned. Finish with the cheesecake. This is a must-try for anyone in the area. The restaurant is less than a year old and looks promising. Great food! read more

I rode my bike here for a dinner ride. Thought I would sit outside on the patio. I immediately noticed a lady sitting outside at a table smoking . I went inside and aske if they allow smoking on the patio. She said she didnt know and wuld check . I never heard back. But she smoked one after the other. The food is actually pretty good which is why I'm leaving 2 stars. I did not leave a review on my first visit as I am always willing to give a place a second try, especially if the menu is worth it. Unfortunately my two visits have had equally bad service. The first visit everyone at the table got their food at different times...leaving some of us done eating while others were just getting food. This evening we arrived early for dInner with our kids (5pm). We had to ask for a server after sitting un-greeted at our table for over 10 minutes. Then after ordering food we waited over an hour for 4 medium rare burgers and a salad. We had to ask about our food twice. After all the waiting they even got an order wrong and even charged us for bacon they forgot to add to one of the burgers. The manager credited one burger after I spoke with him...but unfortunately at that point the damage had been done. I hate that a place with a decent menu and some local meat is having to get crossed of our list. read more

When we arrived we were confused by the parking lot. All the very large area by the door was marked off for bike parking. Made for a long walk to the door from a barley lighted parking lot acrocc the driveway. We loved the pork belly appetizer, great flavor and very tasty. The special was bbq ribs, after the pork belly, they were ok. After sauced they could have used a little char on the grill. But the fried chicken dinner was amazing!
