Although it has been several years since I was here, today it felt like a whole new place, in a good way. If we were not in a heat wave we would have had a table outside, in a nice area. Instead we sat inside at a window and had a wonderful time. I remember the inside being a bit grungy and not impressive, but today it is really nice looking and inviting. And so is the staff, especially our server Kia. She was attentive but not pushy, as well as well informed. The chicken tenders were crispy and tasty, and the tater tots that came with them were yummy!!! The Cobb Salad was super fresh and plentiful. A single kid's order of Mac and Cheese with Tots was a hit. Let's not forget the Black Cherry Old Fashioneds which were just right. Our entire tab was $65 for 4 of us. There is the expected 3% charge for using a credit card. That seems pretty reasonable to me for the food, service and atmosphere. Ordered the Reuben flatbread and it was OK. Mostly flatbread, very little corned beef, cheese and sauerkraut. No Thousand Island dressing, but the server was quick to provide some when asked. My family drove out to meet me for dinner on a Friday night after an appointment I had in Pewaukee. We looked at my fish fry bookmarks and of the four nearby options that were new to us, we went with Beer Snobs in Hartland. I got the three piece beer battered cod with potato pancakes, my wife got a plain cheeseburger with fries, one kid got kids chicken strips with fries, and the other kid got a kids cheese pizza. We also got cheese curds and wings to share, half of the wings with Memphis BBQ rub and half with kickin' maple honey rub. The cheese curds are the cornmeal like breaded kind that I don't care for. They weren't excessively greasy like at other restaurants that serve this kind of cheese curd, but they weren't crunchy either. The Memphis BBQ wings didn't have much rub on them, so the flavor was mild. The kickin' maple honey rub did have a little kick to it and both bold flavor and smell of maple. I wouldn't get the Memphis BBQ again, but I could be talked into getting the kickin' maple honey again. The kid that got the chicken strips and fries unsurprisingly liked them. The kid that got the pizza, though, didn't like how it tasted. We all tried a bite of it and I'm the only one that thought it was just ok. The sauce was strong and that's not any of their preference. My wife's burger was cooked medium by default, so heads up if you want it cooked more well done or medium well like she prefers. After having it cooked a little longer, she ended up sharing it with with kid that got pizza. Both said it was a good burger. The fries were battered and had some crunch. The fish fry wasn't great. The syrup for the potato pancakes was thick, so the fragile pancakes broke apart every time I tried dunking them into they syrup. The beer batter on the cod reminded me of breaded items that use rice flour. The breading dissolved quickly as I was eating each piece, so for a portion of the time it's like I was eating plain cod. I thought both the potato pancakes and beer batter tasted ok, but I'd rather go elsewhere for fish. read more

While out searching for all things Rueben on St Patrick's Day we stopped into Beer Snobs and we were not disappointed. The is a cute bar in downtown Hartland that is worth the stop if you are in the area. The bartender was absolutely fantastic, she was friendly, and fast! We ordered the green beer and received a free green Guinness for doing so...extra bonus! The beer was delicious and not your average Miller Lite green beer which I really appreciate! Not everyone wants the cheap beer and for this reason alone I will go back here next year for St. Patrick's day! The food special that caught my attention was the Rueben Flatbread. I love ALL things Rueben! This was delicious, but could have been heavier on the toppings. As an added bonus when we were there we found out they have Rueben pizza all year long! We were scouting some spots to kayak in the area and wanted to round out an outdoor day with a patio dinner. Beer Snobs has several outdoor sidewalk tables, so we were able to find a spot outside to dine, which was so nice on a beautiful summer eve. They have 20+ taps filled with craft beer. Unfortunately, none of them had any porters or stouts. I opted for a bourbon barrel aged ale, which I enjoyed well enough. For my dinner I got the bbq chicken salad, which was also a solid a-ok. My dining companion opted for one of their burgers and was even less enthusiastic about his burger than I was about my salad. Nothing was extraordinarily bad--but nothing was great either. We live in the neighborhood and love visiting Beer Snobs. The owners are friendly and the servers are all really attentive and helpful. They often have food specials so there's always something new to try, but we're partial to the pizza, curds, and Friday fish fry (get the potato pancakes!). The main reason for the 4-star review is because the owner Steve. I don't think there has ever been a time I've been in there and he hasn't been. He seems like such a nice guy. Always says hi and tries to strike up small conversation. Will ask if you need anything when he passes by. I feel comfortable when I go to Beer Snobs. I don't drink much beer but my boyfriend can always find one he likes. They also make a surprisingly good Brand Old Fashioned. Food is more hometown restaurant style than just pub food which makes it an easier choice to grab a quick bite and drink here during the week. Don't expect adventurous items (not a bad thing, not their style they're more no-frills) but what you do order will be solid since they're consistent with the items on their menu. It can sometimes get a little busy at the bar but the tables have breathing room between them. Plus they have a patio in the warmer weather. I don't think you could go wrong at Beer Snobs if you're looking for a casual sit down. read more

Good beer options and good bar food. I tried the $5.50/16oz draft Wasatch Jalapeno Cream Ale and it was pretty good. I really got the aroma and flavor of the jalapeno. The Rueben pizza ($23/14 inch) was better than I imagined it would be. The corned beef and sauerkraut combo makes for a delicious pizza. I also enjoyed the $6.50 bowl of clam chowder that was loaded with ingredients. I tried my companion's sidewinders fries and they are a must have. I REALLY want to love this place, but the slow service is tough to overlook. Food is amazing. Beer selection is amazing. Atmosphere is amazing. but it always feels like there isn't enough staff. We've enjoyed ourselves the three times we've visited this year. We sat outside on warm evenings, enjoying the drinks, food, friendly people and bustling downtown Hartland activity. Good service. First time customer, went here for Sunday lunch. Asked waitress what was good on the menu, she didn't hesitate and suggested the burger. I ordered the burger with goat cheese and a fried egg with the fixins. I got mine medium, I probably shoulda done med-rare, not that it was over but it would of been exceptionally good with the juice. Service at the bar was a bit slow but I think I got there during a shift change. When I bellied up to the bar I sat there for 4 hickey minutes before I received a menu and a hello. Then another 3 hockey minutes to get the first beer. It was the end of the period. Before I got beer number 2. It was the Anaheim v Carolina game. Once the night shift girls came on to the scene the service picked up and they were attentive and prompt. Good burger although a little over cooked for my taste. They didn't ask me how I wanted it cooked so it came out well done. It wasn't dry but i prefer it a little pink. Bacon was top notch thick cut and crispy. Fries were so cool and something I've never seem. A tweel cut fry but crispy and salty and delicious. Beer selection is good. That alone makes it worth the trip. read more

We enjoyed our stop but were expecting a bit more. For having "Beer" in the name of the place I was expecting a much larger selection. While there was no problem finding something to our liking because we have a range of preferences, I felt the offering was weak and limited. They do serve flights which was nice but the holders were awkward as the glasses are independent of the holder and sat directly on the table. Very easy to knock around on a small table. The beer menu was also very hard to read. Good descriptions but the name was lost in all the text and the font was only a size larger and not offset or bolded. It just wasn't that well thought out and it took a little while to study it. Like the beer, the food menu options were ok but modest. Nothing really stood out as unique. We enjoyed the Wisconsin salad with salmon which was tasty and well done but you typically don't see Romaine lettuce on a higher end salad (it was mixed with baby spinach). The portion size was adequate but in a small bowl so it was impossible to mix with dressing until it was partially gone. Our clam chowder was good. Prices were reasonable. Service was good. The owner greeted us upon entering and gave us a choice of tables. Our server stopped a number of times and was pleasant enough. Setting was fairly modern with the whole industrial concept but heavy on the natural wood. One main room with the bar in the center and another dining room to the side. Not a large place. Conveniently located restrooms away from the dining. Clean and kept up (appeared relatively new). An attractive place but an awkward step upon entering. Beer Snobs probably deserves another 1/2 star but we just weren't "wowed". Maybe I'm being a snob but I wanted more beer. read more

They had just run out of the beer that hubby asked for but the server had a good recommendation for a replacement. I had the Wisconsin salad with grilled chicken. I LOVED it! Food and environment get 4 stars but the service was exceptionally awful. I've never had a server drop food at a table without offering a refill on empty drinks. When Sam finally came back to check on us-- she was halfway back to the bar before we could ask for another round-- we couldn't even tell her we wanted to try something different because she was so far away from our table. There was one other table in the dining room so I'm not sure why mingling at the bar was so much more important than taking care of her tables. We would've loved to spend more money, however the lack of hospitality made it clear we should finish our drinks and conversations elsewhere. read more

I've been having a hard time trying to decide whether I like this place or not. Beer Snobs is located in downtown Hartland in a newly renovated space. The main focus of the space is a large bar as you enter with seating in this area as well as another room. We chose to sit at a high top by the bar. Me being short, just am not a huge fan of bar stools. These seemed extremely tall and seemed to be too tall for the table. Their beer list is heavy on the IPAs and there were some different beers you don't often find around this area. Food menu is limited to pub food. We started off with the cheese curds. They were just ok and could have been better with something to dip them in. We decided to try their fish fry. Hubs had the baked citrus cod and I had the fried cod. It was weird how they served the fish. They came in these metal trays or baskets (I can't remember which one) and lined with paper. Probably not the best choice to serve baked fish in. Both fish were bland and needed seasoning. The batter on the fried cod was light and crisp but again the batter did not have much flavor and sitting in the basket ended up with a pool of grease underneath it. I'm a sucker for potato pancakes. These were average, nothing memorable except that they were a bit raw in the center and a pool of grease again from sitting on top of the paper. The highlight were these little donuts that came with the fish (some reason I thought it was supposed to come with rye bread, but we got these little donuts instead). The donuts were crisp on the outside and rolled in a cinnamon sugar mixture. Service was ok. Our server was maybe a bit over eager and stopped by our table way too much. I think what kind of annoyed me and this has happened at other places is the delivery of the check before I am even done eating (also a pet peeve of mine). While I may not want anything else while I'm eating , we may have ordered another beer or drink when finished, but when the check is delivered halfway through the meal, I just feel so rushed then. read more
