I am pleased to write this review. I had a wonderful experience here. We had reservations and were about ten minutes early, but our table was ready and got seated right away. I was here for a birthday dinner. We had a table that faced the window, so we had a great view of the lake. It was a Saturday, and they even had a guitarist playing music, which was a nice touch. We ordered the smash burger and the salmon. The meat in the burger was very tender and flavorful. It melts in your mouth. We chose the truffle fries with it and these complemented the burger nicely. I liked the fries more than the burger. The salmon came with crispy skin on top, which is my favorite part of salmon. The best part of that dish was the crispy roasted brussels sprouts, probably the best I ever had! So rich and savory! They made my partner's birthday special with a dessert on the house. We shared a rumchata bread pudding, which was sweet but not overpowering. They even wrote "happy birthday" in chocolate and gave him a handwritten card. They really went above and beyond. We ended up at Artisan 179 on a whim Friday night. We were lucky enough to get a table and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I had the shaved brussel sprout salad and added chicken. The salad was super flavorful and the chicken took it to the next level. The pancetta was crunchy and added a nice textural component. Only downside is that the noise was next level. It was a bit difficult hearing people at the same table with you. read more

We haven't been to Artisan 179 in quite sometime, but as we had a gift card stopped in on a Thursday night recently. I ordered the short rib pasta special and really enjoyed it. This is a very nice place! The food was just delicious and I love that a lot of it is homemade/from local farms. The waitress was very patient and kind with us. The chocolate sachet was one of the best desserts I've ever had! I enjoyed being able to sit outside too. Something that could be improved is the pricing. The bill got up there! Second time here. Both experiences were good. Would definitely come back. There were two of us, had 6:30 reservations on a Wednesday night. Got seated right away. The place was buzzing and there was a full house. We were seated along the front windows. The smaller tables are a little closer than I would pick, but our fellow diners had quiet conversations. There was also a musician playing near the door, but not too loud or distracting. Our servers did a great job the entire evening with getting us drinks, food, and any else we needed. Thanks Mallory and Sofie for being personable and fun! Got a couple of the Brown Mumblers, which are basically an Old Fashioned with a brown sugar cube and sweet soda. Which is very good! We had the Bang Bang Shrimp of an Appetizer, Tortellini and Short Rib for our Entrees. Everything came out hot, flavorful and good portions. The Shrimp was cooked perfectly, nice and firm and flavorful. The Short Rib was tender and loved the addition of the Leek Bone Marrow Butter (seeing lots of Bone Marrow Butter in other restaurants). The musician that they had play an excellent collection of classic rock, but in a more quiet, subtle style. Excellent choice for the evening. Another nice evening. Overall - Food and drinks were good, but don't think they justify the price tag. Service was OK, but, again, would expect better considering the cost. Had reservation for 2 at 6:45pm on Saturday night and the restaurant was nearly full, so went to get a drink at the bar while we waited for our table to be ready. After we were seated 15 minutes later, there wasn't a server to check on us for another 10 minutes. By the time we received our food it was after 8pm and our server hadn't really checked on us between sitting down and receiving our meal. Both the chicken and filet mignon were tasty, however, was expecting more considering the $40+ and $60+ cost of the plates. Ordered the bread pudding for dessert and it was great and served more timely. We each had two cocktails (~$16/each), an entree, and shared a dessert, with our bill coming in at $175 before tip. Had a nice time, but was expecting more considering cost/service. read more

It had been a while since I had dined at Artisan 179 and now I ask myself WHY? This restaurant has such amazing character, fabulous service and amazing food ... not to mention the fantastic craft cocktail selection! Sat at the bar with a friend and shared a few small plates and each selection was amazing .... but I would say don't pass up the bang bang shrimp it was outstanding from flavor to the jumbo shrimp themself! Yet another wonderful meal and experience at Artisan! This is one of our favorite local spots for dinner as they always have great cocktails, food, and service! We started with our favorite app - the truffle popcorn... it is so good and doesn't fill you up before the meal. We then spilt the shaved Brussel sprout salad which is always delicious. Several more visits since last review, and still great experiences. Tonight, a friend and I shared the Waygu Meatballs with Burrata and Caramelized Brussels sprouts as starters. The meatballs were a perfectly firm texture with the right amount of seasoning. The Brussels sprouts were as great as they look in the photo! My friend ordered the Ricotta Gnocchi, and I ordered the Bucatini Bolognese. The pasta and gnocchi are made in house. I had a couple pieces of her gnudi (gnocchi made from ricotta) and found them to bee too dense, but the sauce they were served in was delicious! My bucatini was a perfect texture, and the bolognese sauce tasted great! It's made with wagyu beef and Berkshire pork, so I wish the sauce had a lot less cream, so the meat could stand out in a thinner tomato sauce. Again, great flavor! For dessert, we shared the Chocolate Sachet, filled with white chocolate mousse and raspberry puree, and it was mind blowingly decadent! The Limoncello Chambord Mousse with sugar cookie was also decadent, but the Chocolate Sachet was our favorite! We each ordered a cocktail. I had the Blood Orange Manhattan, and it was one of the best cocktails I've ever had! Their cocktail program is pretty strong! I've enjoyed many over the years from them. Our service from Emily and Mary was on point! They were both fun and personable. The view of the lake across the street, as we dined on the patio, added to the great experience! We had high hopes for Artisan 179 given its reputation and the beautiful lakefront setting, and the view truly was spectacular. Unfortunately, that's where the positives ended. From the start, the dining room was overrun with flies. At any given time there were at least five buzzing around us or landing on our table, food, and even on us. For a restaurant at this price point, that's unacceptable and immediately took away from the experience. We arrived around 3:30 PM, but were told dinner service didn't start until 4:30. We decided to wait, but once we ordered, the food still took nearly an hour to come out. I even overheard our server in the back complaining about a dinner order that had been in for 45 minutes, which turned out to be ours. When the food finally arrived, my thick-cut pork chop was excellent, perfectly cooked and flavorful, but it was obvious the sides had been plated far earlier and left to sit. The vegetables were cold and unappetizing, and the shoestring potatoes were stone cold. Service was polite but disengaged. The servers avoided eye contact with me altogether and only addressed my wife, which felt awkward and dismissive. Between the flies, the wait times, and the uneven service, this visit was a major disappointment. For the price, there are far better dining options in the area, I'd recommend taking your money elsewhere until they address these issues. read more

The food was really well done, and it's hard to beat the view out onto Pewaukee lake! Our service was spotty with a few things taking far longer than they should've (drinks, bread, apps). Server was very personable, and made up for a lot with a surprise birthday desert for my wife (even though we really wanted some angel food cake inside that mug! The short rib was tender and delicious, so was the snapper, and the cauliflower bits can with a tangy and spicy sauce that was delicious. The price tag and the lack of really excellent service made this meal a little underwhelming, and it's the second time that it's been that way. We dined here in the summer and decided to come back now that winter is here. I've had an issue with the loudness inside in the past. I'm so happy to say they have solved the problem. They hung sound tiles that really work. The food was delicious as always. I had the pork chop and it was bursting with flavor. Beautiful location and setting. Food was good, timing was awkward when mains came only 10 min after our charcuterie. Server prompt otherwise. My dish had a super long hair on top when server brought it out. I removed it because it likely came from her and just moved along but if it ever happens again I'd likely say something at that point. Might be wise to have servers still tie long hair back. Husband's steak was fantastic, my short ribs were good but grits didn't have as much flavor as I had hoped, broccolini cooked perfectly. While enjoying a busy, hot summer festival day at Pewaukee's lakeside, our group of three couples walked into the perfectly chilled Artisan 179 for a late lunch and a cool drink. We were surprised to be seated immediately and grateful for the offering of iced water! Shortly, our refreshing Watermelon Sangrias arrived, followed by a variety of appetizers, including an enormous and delicious dish of roasted brussel sprouts, which even Todd, who detests brussel sprouts, tried and loved!
