The Knick is attached to The Knickerbocker hotel. It was a very popular place! There was a steady stream of guests coming in, as well as several takeout orders. The happy hour is very popular. We were sat on the heated, enclosed patio which was surprisingly nice and toasty. We had a peephole view of the lake even! Our server was Nick and he was very accommodating when I asked to substitute a juice in my cocktail and a side with my entree. He didn't even bat an eye and said it would be no problem. He had to do a few iterations of my drink he said, but what he served me was delicious. I ordered the salmon which was prepared perfectly. For dessert I had the carrot cake - also good! I have been to the Knick a few times for brunch (love the breakfast pasta!), but this was my first time going for happy hour. The happy hour specials were great! The HH menu had a large selection of cocktails and appetizers for $6. I also like that the happy hour goes from 3-6pm Monday-Friday. I stuck with the Knick Mule all night and it was delicious. A friend ordered the margarita in a few different flavors and she enjoyed all of them. The food was amazing! We tried 6 items off the happy hour menu: spring rolls, garlic cheese curds, BBQ chicken flatbread, fried chicken sliders, happy tots, and micho burger. My favorites were the happy tots and micho burger. The tots were not what I was expecting, more mushy than crispy, but I loved it. And the chipotle aioli went perfectly with it. The burgers had a really flavorful tomato bacon jam! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because the service was a little slow. We could see our drinks sitting at the bar service station for about 5 minutes before they got delivered to us. Then we asked for straws and I ended up going to grab some myself from the bar because the server didn't come back with them for about 8 minutes. We sat with empty waters for awhile and then when we asked for water refills, they were forgotten. We wanted to order one last round of drinks before happy hour ended and started looking for our server around 5:30. Finally at 5:55, I had to grab his attention to get the order in before the deal ended at 6. It did get fairly busy, so he seemed to be running around a lot, but it is a small restaurant and I think service could have been improved. But overall, not a big deal. He was a nice guy. read more

I've been to the Knick multiple times over the years- always for happy hour. They do it well. There are good deals on both food and drinks and the vibe is nice. There's been a menu change since I last went and today I tried the shrimp and spring rolls on the happy hour menu. I also got the black berry margarita which was pretty sweet and didn't taste like much alcohol- which isn't a bad thing to me. I wasn't mad at my food but it wasn't anything amazing. I came to The Knick for the first time for brunch with a few of my friends this past Sunday. Our server was great and attentive! The restaurant is nice and clean with a patio for seating as well, which is nice to know because spring is around the corner! Our coffees and mimosa were good. The food is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. Personally, my omelette was great and I love the breakfast potatoes on the side. The special was a breakfast sandwich, which came with toast that was flimsy and slightly soggy. The meat inside was overcooked and the taste overall wasn't great per my friend. My other friend got the Benedict and the eggs were overcooked poached and were completely hard. They were redone and sent out about 10 minutes later and were better, but it seemed as if these ones were a little undercooked (the white part was runny too). I would be willing to try their lunch or dinner menu another time, but I don't think I would go back for breakfast. read more

I've been to The Knick a number of times, I love it every time. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. The restaurant itself has a nice fancy vibe but you can certainly go casually. I've heard amazing things about their happy hour but have yet to try it. The wings are amazing! This time I had the truffle burger which was delicious, I wish I could go in the back and take all of their garlic aioli lol. The frites that came with were also really good and a nice serving. I typically get the bacon cheddar avocado burger but my friend got it this time and she enjoyed it. She did say that the bacon was a bit tooooo crispy but still enjoyable. We also shared the pineapple mule which was fruity and didn't have much of an alcohol flavor. We opted for the outdoor patio seating as it felt like the inside was going to be way too hot for us (summer 2024). We were sat pretty promptly but the patio chairs needed a good wiping and a couple more inches apart from other tables. We really enjoyed our drinks, however, felt like our meal was just alright. We always enjoy going to The Knick for dinner. We recently took my grandma there while she was visiting us in Wisconsin. They have a large menu so everyone can find something they like. My dad got a brandy old fashioned sweet and asked for extra bitters. He was disappointed in the drink and would not order it again. He got the Truffle Burger as his main and loves the charred grill flavor. However, the crispy prosciutto was too thick and hard this time. I got the blackened scallop salad because last time I had it, I was obsessed. However this time there was too much cheese and not enough tomatoes/ bacon. However it was still very good. The ribs were fall off the bone and had a nice layer of bbq sauce! I really enjoyed trying those. Overall, the Knick is a solid place to try if you're ever in Milwaukee. read more

I have been to The Knick about 18-20 times. Everything has been fantastic. The food is always consistent. (Always delicious) The bartenders and staff are absolutely amazing. Always very friendly and jovial. They are all quick to a friendly smile and professionalism. While the atmosphere is relaxed and chill, the level of professionalism always impresses. The spot is great for a date night at one of the cozy booths in the bar or watching a game. One recommendation I can offer to the restaurant and it's friendly staff is more attentiveness with the TV's. The bartenders need to be more in tune with the sporting events that are being broadcasting. The servers are always very friendly and attentive. The level of menu knowledge always impresses. Spent the weekend in Milwaukee to catch a Brewers and go to the art museum. Stopped at The Knick for breakfast. Very disappointed by the total experience to be honest. The hostess seemed to argue about where to seat my wife and I, once seated a server did not come to our table for almost twenty minutes. When a server did come they went to find our actual server so we waited a while longer until the same person came back and said they would just take care of us. We were prepared to place our order before we received our water. The coffee tasted burnt. Our food took longer than what I would consider usual, it was not busy on this morning. When the food came out the potatoes were over done. My wife had ordered eggs Benedict and they might as well given her an English muffin with two hard boiled eggs. Recently ordered some dinner from The Knick. I can't speak to the atmosphere since I got delivery but can speak to their food and delivery service. The first thing I loved is that you can order delivery straight from the Yelp app, which makes it so easy. I ordered their turkey avocado sandwich with a caesar salad on the side. It had tons of turkey, which was great. It came with plenty of avocado swiss cheese, tomato and lettuce. It was a solid sandwich! The caesar salad side didn't taste very fresh and had very few croutons. The parmesan was also not terribly flavorful. Ultimately, the caesar was a miss for me. The delivery was a smooth experience and got my sandwich delivered straight to my door in a reasonable amount of time. read more

I heard they just revamped the menu. I had the half rack of baby back ribs. Nice portion and the sauce wasn't spicy but I liked it. No vegetable and shoe string fries. You can get a $6 martini but it won't be top shelf but what do you expect? We had a group of 8 of us - we opted to sit outside but in 30 minutes we needed to move inside to the warmth. The server was good about transferring us to an indoor table. He couldn't split checks which I completely understand. I shared the burrata and the wings with a friend and I was a bit underwhelmed. The burrata lacked flavor and the rest of the table didn't finish it. The wings were slightly over salted so thank goodness we had some cheap happy hour cocktails. Had gazpacho, hummus for appetizers, salmon and short ribs sandwiches and vanilla cheesecake/flourless chocolate cake as desserts, $15 per set and it was an excellent deal. Had better gazpacho elsewhere and hummus was solid. Fries were crispy and seasoned well. Desserts were lovely. Two issues: some lady on the street kept asking customers sitting on the patio to buy her a meal. All of us (4 tables total) ignored her, then she started cursing and attempted to jump over the fence. Another old lady who sat across from my husband was rude to me. She looked at me pretty much from the second I sat down to the table. Is this her first time seeing an Asian? My husband went to the bathroom for washing his hands and I took a piece of pita with some hummus. Then the old lady said to her tablemate that: oh, she ate his food. I am not deaf and clearly heard that. I chose to ignore her and continued my meal. What's wrong with folks these days? The Knick is one of the coolest brunch locations I have tried in Milwaukee yet! I got the chance to check out the hotel as well and I was blown away by the interior. Gold chandeliers, beautiful paintings and a white marble lobby. So cool and even better with a restaurant like the Knick attached to it! Being close to the lake and Juneau park is a huge plus but the inside was awesome too! Cute St. Patrick's Day decorations and a beautiful bar sat right in the corner with a ton of indoor patio area to dine in! I got the crab cake Benedict and it was honestly the best decision I've ever made. The chipotle hollandaise sauce was so tangy and had a kick. The egg was perfectly runny and the crab cake was tender and had a nice crunch of celery and onions- wow. The breakfast potatoes were a hit too and I think it's pretty hard to have perfectly crispy and soft potatoes and they nailed it. Would definitely get this again! I also had the mint lemonade and when I say this was the most refreshing drink ever- it was! The polish sausage and eggs and the French toast looked amazing too! Our server was also so amazing! She made the experience that much better. Always keeping our waters filled, bringing our food on time and routinely checking in on us with a huge smile on her face. So great to see. It seemed to be mostly larger parties yesterday but there was definitely space for some smaller parties to walk in. We started out with apps and got burrata and crab dip. Food was ok, service a bit annoying but OK - (A bit too perky and chatty for my taste) but that wasn't the problem... I got the check in a very dark room and calculated a tip at 18% for $37. I could just make out the bottom amount of $202. That's on the whole amount including tax which makes it a little more than 18% of the bill without tax. The rest of the check was pretty difficult to see because the print was small and very light. Looked at it check this morning in the light and saw that they added more than $40 to the bill + 20% of the whole check including tax. Not good. First if they are going to add a tip amount automatically to a table with six or more, there should be some warning from either the staff or on the menu that this is their policy. And it shouldn't automatically be 20% of the whole bill. We should have a choice if the service is good or poor to tip accordingly, or fair warning should be given of the percentage and that it will be added to the bill. When a customer adds an amount to the bill like $37 when there was already $40 added to the bill, the courteous thing for the server to do would have been to mention "did you mean to leave a $77 tip on this $202 bill or is that a mistake?" I cant imagine our server didn't notice such unusually large tip on a $200 bill. Though I like the food and generally the service, I wont be going there again. Too bad a greedy server and inadequate policy to warn the customers ruined this place for me. read more

The Happy Hour prices have gone up by a dollar since my last review (no real big deal, I suppose although $6 versus $5 makes things a little awkward) and the drinks and food are still really good. Despite how busy it was, everything came very quickly and the servers were excellent. What disappointed me is two fold: one, they really don't have the space for groups larger than 6 and I understand why. They are crazy busy starting at about 4:30. And two, I guess it's on the website (it wasn't on Open Table which is their reservation system), but a large group (not sure what the designation is for that. On weekends they do a Queen Mary (their version of a Bloody Mary). Ordered a virgin Queen Mary and it was perfect. Olives, cheese cube, grilled shrimp, pepper lemon wedge as garnish. I had lunch here with 6 colleagues on a Friday. We were seated at a circle table that was part booth, part chairs in a side area. It was the perfect setting for us to see each other, speak as a group, and share secret Santa gifts while still having plenty of space for our orders and seats. Our waitress was delightfully friendly and took good care of us. I had the carnitas tacos for lunch. The pork was tender and moist with a flavor that blended well with the slaw and other seasoning on top. It was a bit messy to eat (wouldn't recommend it for a date), but it was very tasty.
