Cup of life in each latte serving, breakfast for the soul! I enjoyed grabbing a cup of honey latte and turkey egg sandwich today at Copa Vida. Not only are their lattes beautiful, they are tasty with just the right amount of boldness. Their breakfast meals are served warm and fresh, and my sandwich was so good! One star off because my hubbie said he couldn't taste the sausage in his sausage burrito, but I personally enjoyed each bite and sip of my meal. The place is cute! Quaint little coffee shop with just enough seating. Service is friendly and quick. I would definitely be back. Brought life into my day with the perfect cup of latte!
Cute place, decent coffee, good vibes. A nice amount of tables and chairs inside and outside. Seems like a great place to do some work and hangout at, it has perfect study and work vibes written over it. Very fast service! Thanks for the beautiful heart latte art. I met with a friend here on Thursday morning and enjoyed the food! Upon arrival, you order and take a seat with an assigned number. The girl taking our order was very sweet, but I must have missed the part when she said the drinks are picked up at the counter. When we received our food, we asked about the beverages - the waiter mentioned those are picked up at the counter. The barista was kind enough to remake the espresso shot for my friend since it had been sitting out for over 10+ minutes :) The food is tasty! We sat outside (perfect weather - overcast) and we shared an order of the avocado toast and the French toast plate. Good coffee, great portions with aligned price points. The inside is quite large, but it felt like something was missing... warmth/ decoration. Aside from that, Definitely recommend stopping by - I'm surprised I hadn't popped in sooner!
I was so lucky to find this place after searching relentlessly for a coffee shop with Wi-Fi in Pasadena. I went to the Starbucks on fair Oaks (only outdoor seating, no outlets), that really fun one on Raymond, and I walked around for about an hour before I found Copa Vida in downtown. They had amazing coffee, outlets, Wi-Fi, and really wonderful personalities. I loved their service and I definitely had to give them a shout out. Their patrons are just as friendly. I would come back here anytime, it's like a family with really good quality, service and food
We ordered a vanilla latte as a pick me up. Service was friendly, but it took quite a while for our drinks to come out, 15 minutes. Not bad, but longer than expected. The shop wasn't completely crowded, but it warmed popular. The shop is spacious. Vanilla latte was pretty average, not too sweet. Espresso was smooth, nutty. Drink was slightly creamy. There is street parking and a parking garage nearby. Solid place to get a vanilla latte, but be prepared for a bit of a wait.
I really loved this place. I think it's some of the best coffee I've had. The service, while they were busy probably with normal patrons, had added people for the Noah Kahan collab but they made it work. We got three lattes and a cortado. The lattes and matcha were perfect and I thought the cortado really showed me that their espresso was delightful. Bold and rich. The inside was spacious and had a fair amount of seating. Tucked in a corner spot parking was a little hard but such is Pasadena. Park a little away and enjoy the neighborhood and go for a walk.
Came back here and brought some friends because of the burrito I had but wow the burrito completely changed. Got the sausage again but the potatoes weren't even crispy like last time- they were plain soft. The sausage was also MINIMAL. The insane decline in quality is very very disappointing.
Coffee here is alway good! And also their breakfast. I love their space. Plenty of table & chairs. Good for big groups. Good for hanging out with friends and/or working on your computer. There are 2 rooms basically. It gets pretty crowded though...especially on the weekend. Employees are friendly and knowledgeable about coffee. They have signature drinks and seasonal specials. We made our way through the Coffee Passport and unfortunately, Copa Vida was our least favorite. The service was a little off-putting and it was LOUD inside, both from people and music. It seemed like there were too many guests and not enough seats; people hovered trying to get the next table, which were really untidy (on and under). While we didn't get a ton to eat, it look a significant amount of time for it to come out. The coffee was okay, nothing to write home about.
There's both street and structure parking to get here. There can be a line but it moves fairly quick. After you order they'll call out your name. There's loads of seating here. The atmosphere is cozy and chill. The noise level was decent. It can be a nice place to study or meet up with a friend. The staff are nice and helpful. I got the seasonal hojicha latte. The latte was a bit hot at first but quickly cooled to a good drinking temperature. This latte was pretty good! It wasn't too sweet. I'd definitely return here again.

Good place for coffee break. Very cozy place to hang out while strolling here in Pasadena with family. Self serve. Seated on your own . Ordered Almond croissants which was yummy. Crunchy not too sweet. The Coffee Latte was very fresh .
This is the best shop I know of. Energetic, friendly staff who know and care about their product, great cold brew, the atmosphere is alive but never overwhelming. And now their smash burger is the best local cheeseburger.
I came here on weekday evening around 7 pm to do some work and there were still a good amount of people studying and hanging out. I really like the environment at Copa Vida. The space is pretty open. It's a really nice spot to just catch up with friends or do work. They have a lot of seating and offer wifi on the weekdays. The wifi isn't the fastest. I ordered the almond milk latte and it was rich and bitter but not acidic. I don't like sweet coffee so I enjoyed my latte. Copa Vida is open later than Philz but not as late as Starbucks. pretty okay coffee but nothing really spectacular. i ordered their most popular or signature drink but it wasn't that great. the ambience of the cafe is nice but it's a bustling atmosphere and I don't think it was worth the 20 minute wait to order plus 10 to get your overpriced drink. if you're not a real coffee fanatic who can taste the origin of the beans upon your first sip, don't waste your time. go get starbucks. your unused gift card is probably waiting for you. read more

A last minute Sunday brunch stop turned into a full belly and happy heart. Don't let the long line scare you. There's constant hustle and bustle, but plenty of table seating around the corner. You're greeted by the aroma of deep, dark roasted coffee beans and the sight of cool, white decor. It's a hipster's paradise sans the pretension. I highly recommend the chorizo egg hash, even though chorizo has never been a preferred breakfast protein. Here, the chorizo comes in substantial flavorful chunks without being overly salty or greasy. This I can get used to. It finds itself on a solid foundation of crispy hash, then is blanketed by fresh arugula and a yolky egg. The jalapeño cilantro drizzle and peppery greens work together to brighten up the overall flavor of the dish, leaving you feeling satisfied but not glutinous - the fastest and easiest way to my heart. The croque madame was good, but rich, as anticipated. Taking a slice and dipping it in the side tomato soup was a perfect meld. The soup's acidity worked well to cut through the decadence of cheese and bearnaise sauce. My preference still goes to the chorizo dish without a doubt. I watched the various dishes pass by, and most entrees looked to be quite colorful and substantial. I'd be more than happy to return to try other items on and off the brunch menu, if I can manage to move away from the chorizo. read more

They don't really need another good review but I've been here 3 or 4 times already and I've had consistently good experienxe here so I just have to. Food: I always go here for the brunch and every time we order the bowl. They're amazing! And unike a traditional brunch plate that always leave you feeling greezy and guilty afterwards, this one fills you up without feeling like you just gained 5 pounds. The coffee and teas are also great of course. They have these really cool machines that you can just stare at all day too. Location: it's a great location! Not far from the freeway and only a few blocks away from the all the shopping and restaurants in Pasadena. There is a parking structure right across the street that is free for the first 90 minutes so it's suprr convenient. Service: great people. Super polite. Only thing is they will serve you the food to your table by your number, but Not your drink. We didnt know the first time when we were there. We finished the meal before we realized that we had to pick up the drink separately. They also collected our number before all our food was served so we had to ask for the rest of our meal too. This is the only reason for the 1 star off. Another note is that they offer five stars too. But it's 1 pount for every $10 spent. Not really going to mean anything to you unless you're a regular there. But it's better than nothing I guess. read more

Cool little coffee shop, had a bit of a hipster feel. A little pricey but overall the coffee is good. Two coffees and one cake was about $20. When I first ordered, it was like $14, which I thought was reasonable but they apparently had only charged for one coffee, so I paid an additional $6 for the 2nd cup. The cake that I got was just okay, nothing spectacular - kind of dry. Staff is nice and place has cool vibe. read more

I was explaining to my boyfriend what's good on the menu, later realized I just named everything I've tried here. The croque madame is absolutely incredible, same with the chorizo hash brown (I prefer the croque madame if I had to pick). The noise is light to medium, people seem to mostly come to do work and study. Awesome cafe! It's always a treat! read more
You will definitely have a say about their food. A Pasadena must. Come ready to pay because it is pricey but worth it in my opinion. You start off with some helpful staff, the place has a sophisticated interior, roomy enough to relax, study etc.. So one of the guys recommended i give their croque madame a try and i have to say it was so tasteful. As in taste something you've never had. That's why to me it is worth the price. This place is nice all around. I feel like I have my sh*t together whenever I can visit and drop that $$ on a drink. I just had their strawberry matcha latte and it was definitely worth it. I needed the caffeine and it provided plus it tasted amazing. Strawberry milk is dope. It reminded me a bit of the special K strawberry cereal now that I think of it (in a good way). Anyhow, I suggest you opt for this drink if you're uncertain about what to order next time you drop by. read more
Copa Vida has always been my #1 go-to coffee shop. For studying, hang outs, reading a good book. I love the simplistic layout of the place and simplistic and original menu. Can never go wrong with the cafe latte and the cold brew. If you're looking for a more curl-up-with-a-book kind of soothing, warm drink, the brûlée mint latte is a must. My personal favorite go-to is the cortado. The meals are amazing and worth the price as well. I loved the avocado toast as well as the beet salad! Only downside being the parking which can rack up in price after the free 90 minutes. But parking in Pasadena is difficult anywhere. Plenty of outlets if you need to charge your devices. And clean bathrooms! Pro-tip: Sign up for their rewards to rack up points and treat yourself to a free drink now and then :) read more

Chicken salad sandwich was good. It's an open sandwich, with chicken salad on top of cheese and cranberry? Sauce. Not sure if it is cranberry, but it's delicious. I don't really care for the tomato soup though. I feel they can make that better. The coffee is good, freshly brewed and very pretty. :) Great place for brunch and meetings. They don't provide wifi during brunch hour, so talk to each other! Haha, they have a sign up that tells you this. I think it's a great idea and very cute how they promote it. read more

The cups started absorbing Coffee and started falling apart. When I grabbed a coffee, the cup collapsed and half my coffee spilled in the car. Needless to say, you must warn your customers that they have roughly ten minutes to drink their to go cup because it will self-destruct. Coffee was okay, but def need new cups. read more

I came in to have some coffee and pastries with a friend. I got there early and ordered my drink: three decaf long shots over ice. When my drink is ready, it's one shot of espresso with a single ice cube in it. I expressed that it wasn't what I ordered. Instead of treating me like a human being, I was asked quite rudely "what is it that you want?" What do I want? The drink I ordered. I repeated my order, offered to pay any price difference in case I was incorrectly charged for one. None of that was acknowledged, instead I was told to go sit down and I would be called when my drink is ready. I also had to restate for the third time about making sure it was decaf because I was sure they were busy being irritated with me instead of listening. Of course, "wait, you want it decaf?" I got a sad excuse for three shots of espresso. I still feel cheated. I posted a photo of it. read more
Very unorganized. The wait for food was horrible. After 45 min of waiting for my food, my friend already finishing her food, I had to go inside and ask about my food and the people realized they made a mistake and didn't make my food. Ordered the chorizo plate and the mushroom plate and the food definitely WASNT worth the wait. The server gave me a free muffin when he realized they forgot my food... the muffin was good, but I wouldn't come back to eat here again... it's more of a one time type of place. read more

The choice was between Bird Pick Tea & Herb and Copa Vida. I picked Copa Vida because I wanted coffee. Ordered caffe mocha and butter croissant. Caffe mocha ($5.00): the coffee is not strong at all. Croissant ($3.00): is this bread or croissant? Free fast wifi. Great service and cute coffee art. Park at the schoolhouse parking structure for 90 minutes free. 3 stars!! I'm a bit of a complimentary wifi connoisseur. Call it a gift or just a occupational necessity. Just don't call it greedy or mooching. I do my part and always purchase the fair amount per wifi sesh I engage in when taking up space at a local business kind enough to offer such an amenity. Cups of Joe are part of my world, probably more so than they should be, but I'm far from being able to pick apart the inner workings of a piping hot or iced saucer full of liquid gold. I dilute it with so much cream and sugar that it's borderline dessert at that point. That's why I leave the coffee reviews for those that do. That being said, I do know coffee shops and have a discerning taste for them. This one is a welcomed addition to the Pasadena caffeine scene. It's super spacious, the staff is very friendly, and they offer complimentary wifi. Now, the wifi isn't always reliable, which can be aggravating but I've learned to check the strength of it before plopping down for a beverage or pastry. They've got fancy teas and a pastry case and word on the street is they offer brunch as well. I prefer it to some of the others in the area because it also has outlets and a more contemporary atmosphere that makes me feel a bit more productive. read more

This is not your usual Coffee & Tea Shop; this one has style and they have one of the most fancy tea brewing machines out there. Only shame I guess would be the fact that they do not have any Organic Tea which would be a better option. I have not tried their coffee yet, but that would be on my to do a list for my next visit. [Location] - Located in Old Town Pasadena, just across from the Raymond Public Garage Parking Lot. [Parking] - Park in the Public Garage or on the street. There is no private lot parking. [Déco] - Bigger than most Coffee & Tea Shops, it has both a nice and comfortable style that makes you feel relaxed. [Service] - Friendly service, but the staff wasn't too knowledgeable about the tea. [Drink] - I order the Naked Pue-rh Tea which is a fermented dark Teal which has a strong flavor that I ended adding more water to dilute the strong flavor. read more
My friends wanted to grab breakfast so we decided to come to Copa Vida. Came with three other friends, and all of them have been here before, so I was the only first timer. I originally thought of trying the Egg Salad Toast, but ended up ordering the Sausage breakfast burrito along with the Dragon Green Tea. The store is pretty cute, nicely decorated, pretty hipster. Cashiers are friendly, and store is kept clean. Most people are here on their laptops getting work done, but there are a couple others who are just here to hangout. They do accept credit cards and they also have the five star rewards program. Once we order to dine-in, we are given a number and then you take a seat. The drinks are usually made right then and there so it's quick, and when you're food is ready, they bring it to your table. The breakfast burrito came with a couple blueberries and two orange wedges. They cut the burrito in half and after just eating half I was super stuffed, so I took the other half to-go to finish up at work. My tea was not anything special in my opinion, just tasted like a super light version of green tea, which I guess that's what it's supposed to taste like. I finally was able to give this place a try. This a 3.5 Star review but there is no option for a half star. There's always a long line & the place is always packed. Situated in the corner of Raymond & Green St. The decor is simple & Industrial. Simple menu (not much of a place for kids) food & drinks. There are two sides to sit down. Substantial amount of seating but they get filled up quickly. We ordered Iced Green Tea Mist (comes unsweetened so add your own sweetener) Lattes, Cappuccino, Machiato, & Hot Chocolate. Tea was light (Blue Agave added for sweetness) Lattes were ok, a bit cold. Cappuccino had a nice aroma but wasn't quite smooth. Mocha Machiato (in house ganache) whisked in with expresso was a nice touch but again, it was on the cold side. Hot chocolate was cute (drink was called Sadness because they teamed up with Children Hospital) typical Hot Chocolate. As for food, we got Bacon Breakfast Burrito, Baked Eggs, & a Blueberry Lemon Scone (not pictured). The scone was ok. Blueberry wasn't strong, you can taste the lemon in the background, it wasn't very dense or hard so that's a good thing. Baked Eggs were served with a slice of a baguette. Yolks were over cooked to a hard so no runny yolks to dip the bread in. You can smell the faint scent of thyme. The breakfast Burrito was ok as well. There were bacon pieces, nice melted cheese but too much hash browns to fill up the Burrito. Fresh slices of fruit was a nice touch but I was not able to eat it (I'm allergic to cantaloupe). Overall, nice place. Service was ok but they need more people bussing because we had to clean the tables ourselves from previous patrons. Free Wi-Fi (Ask for the password) BTW, Don't hang around outside of the establishment.... The air reeks of sewage. YUCK! read more
We came Sunday morning, we only came for coffee but stayed for brunch. Cute little shop, not too busy. It was such a pretty day, we sat by the window and ppls watched while we ate. We order the Croque Madame $10.00 (ham, caramelized onions, tomato, Gruyere cheese, egg, and Bearnaise sauce) thing was huge. I wouldn't say I fell in love with the sandwich but it was good. I order a clean green tea, very simple and light and friend ordered a coffee. I loved looking at the trees from Castle Green. I would love to try the coffee here next time. :) read more
Laptop camper here. Copa Vida had its grand opening party last week...a crazy night of live music, a zillion people crammed into the shop and free coffee and tea drinks. They were nice enough to have an open coffee/tea bar. The drinks are organized by the method they're made (brewed, pressure, steeped, pour over, etc.). The coffee beans come from a variety of roasters, including Equator, Ritual, Verve, and Parallel. They have some fancy looking coffee and tea machines. For breakfast they have nice looking pastries (croissants, muffins, monkey bread, Stromboli, tea cake). The lunch offerings include appealing sounding café fare: sandwiches and salads. * Latte ($4.25): The espresso they used during the grand opening was either better or prepared better. When I ordered the latte again, it had a distinct bitterness. The foam art was pretty but not as nice as Intelligentsia's. * Ham, cheese & caramelized cheese Stromboli: a small but tasty pie with chewy dough, served piping hot with cheese on top * Tea ($4.25): I tried a cup of steeped tea, the one that's supposed to be sweet w/ apricot flavor, I didn't notice that many flavor notes, I wish the tea had been more flavorful The ambiance is better than Intelligentsia. The chairs are more comfortable. They have plenty of small tables plus counter seating at the Slow Bar. The brick walls, dark grey paint and wood tables are lovely. I really like this place!!! Great selection of teas and coffee. Very knowledgable baristas and helpful as well. I never feel rushed when I order (very important) and they are always more than helpful in my questions. They don't carry fresh lemon and vanilla almond or soy milk. One minus star there I get the lemongrass ginger tea, soooo aromatic and flavorful, with a sweet note Also for coffee, I order the mocha with a pump of vanilla and almond milk. Kind of has a chocolately after taste Seating is interesting. Good luck finding a spot, it's always packed in there Atmosphere is cool though, plus super cute cups and decorative interior.. great coffee and friendly service. this has been my latest go-to cafe for coffee, tea, and sometimes dessert, a spot to get personal tasks accomplished and even write some! the soundtrack is just right and the clean open cafe is easy on my eyes. it's a great place for locals to enjoy their coffee in a chill and non-pretentious environment. the vibe is refreshing and beverages are consistently carefully crafted. i came by CP when they first opened, over a year ago and ordered a LATTE with almond milk. i found it to be sour and hesitated at first, but then decided to bring it to the barista and ask whether it was improperly prepared or if it were intended to taste this way. he informed me that the use of almond milk tends to intensify the acidity in the beverage and offered to make the latte again using milk. i obliged and what i got was a lusciously perfect latte. this has been my experience with coffee/espresso and almond milk at most cafes, so fret not, i don't believe it's a weakness on CP's part, but rather a common coffee experience in general. if you do or must order a beverage with almond milk, do know that they use the Califia Farms label. it's one of the smoothest and most delicious almond milks on the market! there are several items i really enjoy at Copa: SHAKERATO - my go to drink here. it's an iced latte, with four shots and lightly sweetened with agave. sometimes i'll opt for almond milk, which gives it a less creamy and more acidy but stronger taste. but most of the time i get it with milk. really hits the spot, whether it's a warm or cool day. POUR OVERS - they usually have three varieties offered each day. i tend to opt for the darkest roast. can never complain. always been a great experience. COLD BREW TEAS - crisp and clean. amazing. i love these on hot summer days, which we have plenty of in the Dena!! they also use cubed ice, which keeps your beverage COLD and NOT watered down to the last slurp!! COLD BREW COFFEE - always refreshing. yup they use the same cubed ice. CAPPUCCINO - robust and pleasing. LATTE - always good, but now you know if you want it creamier or more acidy, to order it with the appropriate dairy/non-dairy. DONUT SNOB - yaaay!! finally, they offer donuts, and not just any. Donut Snob's are some of my favorites in LA. my most recent one was the one with Berries. every berry was sweet, and at the height of its ripeness. soooo delicious. COFFEE CAKE - a very moist marbled chocolate and yellow cake. made by Farmshop. CHOCOLATE HAZELNUT CROISSANT - delicious creamy chocolate in the center, when i need some chocolate. also by Farmshop. AFFOGATEM (their version of an affogato) - one of my favorite indulgences here. they use a local favorite, Carmela ice cream, so you get a heavenly marriage of amazing ice cream in an espresso bath. the SALTED CARAMEL is decadent, with salty caramel drizzled atop your scoop. the VANILLA is a classic, and Carmela's is one of my favorite vanilla ice creams of all time. BAKED EGGS - one of my favorite simple breakfasts and gives me a great start. two eggs baked in a bowl, with a touch of herb and gruyere cheese. it comes with thick toast!! i have tons more to try here at Copa. one is the Croque and another, their brûlée deserts. their menu is always changing, so there's always something new to try. it's usually local and artisan. but one thing's for sure, and it's that my coffee will be good! read more

Although I absolutely loath when people go into businesses minutes before they close.. I broke my own no-no and walked into Copa Vida 7 minutes before they closed. I made sure to apologize profusely because (I rarely go through Pasadena and happened to be around the area this particular time) I ABSOLUTELY HAD TO try Copa Vida (thanks to the recommendation from Cafe Dulce's finest :) They were so nice about it and reassured me -just as many times as I apologized- that it was ok and no trouble at all. Not only that, they went out of their way to explain to me their different drinks and the [super nifty] machines they use. Instantly, I had fallen in love with Copa Vida. How couldn't I! I ended up trying an iced soy latte and a 1&1 (posted a photo of the 1&1). Both were made well (duh, hence this rave review lol) and had me craving more. I decided then that I will have to go back and try their other specialties. Update! As of 1/7/14 I have been to Copa Vida more than should be mentioned and I also managed to achieve my goal and have tried many different things! But as of now, I constantly crave their Shakerato lol. Its my liquid crack, courage, and kryptonite in an eco-friendly, 16oz plastic cup with a couple of ice cubes and agave. If you haven't had the time to try one, make time. Seriously. A couple of things I've encountered here while stopping in for that much needed crack in a cup, they have live music Fridays and Saturdays 7pm - 9pm and that they play host to some awesome local vendors! It's a cafe located off of busy Colorado Street. I came here to try their croque madam which looked amazing I photos. As I went to order, I noticed donuts that looked like donut snob. I got the last one, yay!! The cafe was really busy, with people eating and studying. I don't know how people study here because it's pretty loud. The donut was really good!! Fluffy with a hint of lemon!! The croque madam was fairly large. Im not sure if it was hollandaise sauce, but it was really creamy and delicious. The sandwich was grilled well, without being too buttery. Overall, a great cafe and I'll be back to try their coffee! read more

One of my sister ( coffeeholic) frequents here from PCC, large study tables and wifi. After a few months of wondering, took the incentive to try a drink. Hot cocoa was amaz-za-balls! Can't find the words to describe other then "just keep drinking". Had the salted caramel affagato..... one word genius. Tried a s'more donut from doubt snob and just wasn't a fan. Service is excellent every time especially Ruth and Lauren! I'm not a coffee snob, but I genuinely enjoyed the coffee and atmosphere at Copa Vida. It's a great spot in Old Town to grab a cup of coffee while catching up with a friend. Sure, it's a bit on the expensive side for someone who's quite happy with a mug of Starbucks Coffee, but I don't mind coming out here once in a while to enjoy a quality drink. There are a good number of seats and they have outlets (unlike Intelligentsia down the street....). I tend to stick to their cold brew, and for a coffee connoisseur type establishment it's only $4 which isn't so bad. They also don't pack the cup with ice like some places so that's nice. They're a member of the Five Star Rewards program. Get one point every time you buy a coffee or tea: 10pts - 1 free hand-crafted drink 25pts - 1 free diner mug/pint glass 30pts - 1 free entree 50pts - 1 free 12 oz. bag of Copa Vida Coffee 80pts - 1 free growler + fill For parking there is a lot close by that is free for 1.5 hours.
