Do not, under any circumstances, hire Cool Horizons. After a lightning strike, our system clearly had a dead blower motor, fried control board and few other issues. Their technician arrived and proceeded with the diagnosis. Crucially, the technician attempted to install a new control board without discussing this expensive, high-risk diagnostic step with me. They immediately fried the brand new control board during the process, indicating severe incompetence and poor diagnostic practice. They then had the audacity to charge me about $1,000 for the part they broke. We hired a competent company afterward who confirmed Cool Horizons had done a terrible job and successfully repaired the system. When I called the owner to request a partial refund--suggesting I only pay the initial service fee, since they broke the system further--the owner yelled at me, used foul language, and aggressively hung up the phone. This company charges customers for their own mistakes and is run by an owner who is verbally abusive when challenged. Save yourself the money, the stress, and the exposure to abusive management. This business should not be operating. read more

We've used several HVAC companies over the years in the Austin area. Cool Horizons is hands down the best by far. Prompt, honest, knowledgeable in their field, fair prices and just all around professional. You really couldn't ask for better. Even in the brutal Texas heat they always seem to find away to take care of us in a timely manner when they're obviously swamped with house calls. I appreciate they're a local family run business instead of one of the big corporate companies of which I've read plenty of mediocre to bad reviews. Cool Horizons is deservedly 5 stars across the board. We'll never use anyone else. read more

My A/C started blowing hot air today. It was about 103º, so needless to say I was panicked. I had used Cool Horizons before, and was very satisfied with them at that time, so they were the first call I made. I had expected a wait time of a couple of days, given how hot it is in Austin now. I was so happy! A friendly voice answered the phone and assured me someone could be there, most likely in about 4 hours. In about TWO hours, Robert was here, fixing the problem! He was extremely knowledgeable about my system and took care of the issue in about 40 minutes. He also showed me the proper way to put the vinegar in the pipe so as to not have a buildup. Did I mention the price was amazing???? I am very pleased with Cool Horizons and will use them for all my HVAC needs! read more

Hadn't had our AC unit maintained in a few years due to the pandemic and my previous company has staffing issues. Found a recommend for Cool Horizons on NextDoor and gave them a holler. Set an appointment and a very nice technician came out and serviced the unit. Ran a basic, very basic, check and then came in to tell me my freon was low due to a leak, and since my unit was over 10yrs old (it isn't) then it was recommended to just replace the whole thing. Not feeling reliable on the quote I ended up calling my dad who did this work before retiring and paid him to run a check. The freon isn't low and there isn't a leak. He also noted that no maintenance had been done on the unit and gave me a list of things to make sure the next technician checks. So, sketch, very, very sketch. read more

What amazing service! I sure wish I had written down the technician's name because he was professional and courteous, quickly diagnosed our problem, explained the issue to us, and was able to resolve the matter. Honestly, I was fairly worried that we wouldn't be able to get someone out on such short notice but because there was an issue with water (it turned out that our HVAC drain line had backed up and was leaking water that seeped under the floorboards in our living room), but they had someone at our house in about 1 1/2 hours. The matter was quickly resolved and at a good price point. Plus, I always like to support local businesses when I can. read more

I am leaving 2 stars instead of 1 star because the lady on the phone is very nice and they actually showed up when they said they would. I am not satisfied that the technician did his job, which is to evaluate why a unit isn't working. The drain wasn't draining so he cleaned that and sprayed the outside coil down and left. The service call is a separate fee by itself, even if other work is done, so diagnostics should be run on the system at a minimum. His service notes showed only drain and coil cleaning. No actual service of the unit. 2 days later, I had a different company come out as it still wasn't working. They immediately opened up the unit and within 2 minutes, said the capacitor was bad. This is an extremely basic item to check, and often the issue when the AC is not cooling. Any one who actually looked at the unit would have found it. Was the drain actually clogged? I don't know, maybe. Or maybe there was no water coming from the drain because the compressor wasn't coming on (bad start capacitor) and no condensation was being produced. I spoke with Cool Horizons about the fact that their service call included no actual servicing of the unit and they said "sorry." Anyway, I paid them and learned my lesson about this company. I cannot recommend them. read more

The best HVAC company in town. You can tell this family-run business truly cares about their customer. JoJo actually installed our unit around 8 years ago. He was very respectful, explained what he was doing in layman terms, and made sure we were satisfied with his services. Fast forward to this crazy winter storm, and we had Robert come by to help fix the heat. He was equally as awesome. Thank you! I'm glad we're now officially signed up for regular maintenance with y'all. read more

I love these guys!! They are always so responsive and get to me either same day or within a day. I have been with them for years. When I finally replaced our old AC unit, I didn't bother comparing prices, JoJo told me exactly what we needed and that's what we did. It is perfect for our home and saved us so much money in electric bills! You cannot go wrong with these guys!! read more

We've used Cool Horizons a few different times and they are the best. They've replaced our ducting, and got our system up and going a few times (we have an old system). Our AC went out on a Friday night and they were fast to respond and made it out the next day. They are honest about the repairs and costs, and they're out go to with anything AC/heat related. read more

This company is awesome! They respond to your calls quickly and their service guys are wonderful. Their prices are better than the rest.

Couldn't be more satisfied. Competitive price, immaculate work. Efficient, professional. No hesitation to recommend.

We had a failed capacitor that was still under warranty. Cool Horizons said they would get us a replacement from the manufacturer. They took the capacitor and just disappeared. Reached out to them and did not get any response. read more

Flakey!!! Came to house to look at new system need, but never sent written bid. I followed up several times about status but never provided estimate. Not sure why they bothered to come out. Total waste of my time (and theirs). Neighbors used them and were please, so maybe they just have enough business right now. Here's an idea...just communicate that. read more

I decided to try this company because a plumber who was working at my house recommended the owner of this company. Never again. I called because the pan was filled and it seemed that my ACs were not working as optimally as they should. I asked if he could check everything.....perhaps in the form of an annual inspection. I mentioned my concern with some splitting ducts and air not circulating to certain rooms. He said there was no such special, but I still asked for him to check everything. He said the pan was probably filling from a clog in the line and he did nothing else despite what I asked. He also said if he repaired any splitting duct work, and he said it would be $140 per duct and that my husband could tape it up himself. This young man was not interested in working or making money for the company that employs him. I was charged close to the $300.00 only for our family to be put in a terrible situation 2 1/2 weeks later. Well, as it turns out, all he had to do was some basic AC checking, like checking pressures and he would have seen that my older unit was almost out of R-22. The unit was freezing up and the pans were overfilling. Instead, we had to endure over a week so far of no AC while trying to get appointments and now ordering one AC. Now my other one is out and the jury is still out on that. I had it diagnosed by another company as they said the blower is out, but I am now getting a 2nd opinion based on what happened with Cool Horizons. These units affect the functioning of the other, and all of this could have been dealt with proactively, saving us plenty of money and time in appointments, energy bills which are almost $500 this month (never had bills like that), portable ACs, fans, 3 kids desperately finding a place to stay for a week now, and all of the eating out because it is so dreadful in the house while all the food that I cooked spoils in the fridge. And did I mention today is Father's Day? We won't be spending Father's Day as planned in our house. Not taking the time to diagnose something can promote a negative domino effect of unnecessary consequences, as it did in my situation. read more

Cool Horizons came highly recommended by our neighbors and they did not disappoint. It was very convenient to be able to text Jojo to set an appointment to look at our HVAC, which wasn't cooling properly. He came to our house, listened to us describe issue, and determined it's likely the drip pan switch. It took him less than 5 minutes to check out the attic and point out the problem to us clueless new homeowners. We've had the builder's HVAC provider come out a couple of times without ever solving this problem! Jojo was very polite and helpful. On top of that, he didn't charge us for the quick 10 minutes that he was there. Will not hesitate to call this company for any future HVAC needs! read more

Excellent service. I called early morning on Saturday and they promised to stop by the same day. When Robert realized he can a bit late he called up front to notify us. He did excellent job on fixing the AC. All parts were replaced under warranty. read more

Most honest, friendly, reliable and reasonable air conditioning company I have ever hired.

I have used Cool Horizons for furnace and A/C repairs, plus installing a new HVAC system. Consistently dependable service, and they are honest and helpful. David has given us tips on things we can do ourselves and is very up front about cost, options, etc. Because they are a smaller operation, they can't always beat the big guys in price, but I have found they more than make up for it in terms of good honest work! Our go-to company for sure. read more

There's nobody better. Have used Cool Horizons a number of times now and they surpass the standards every time. Robert is the epitome of what service techs ought to be in the world. In fact, it should be a law that every service tech in the world, no matter what discipline, ought to be required to shadow Robert for a year to learn how to both do the job and treat people. No need to call anyone else after you read their reviews. read more

Seriously. JoJo and his crew are the best. We've been using them for the past several years. What'd you'd last expect on a July 4th weekend with house full of guests visiting for the first time in a long time!!! AC started suddenly blowing air only instead of cooling in the middle of the night and making a humming noise! Luckily, our house is naturally cool and we hoped it would remain the same throughout the weekend. We immediately called David Rogers at Cool Horizons to schedule a visit as soon as possible; July 4th was a holiday after all and on a Friday! ...perfect for a long weekend. He indicated that the AC should be fine and was available first thing on Monday morning. We had planned on a weekend eating out, shopping, movies, so we'd be out of the house most of the time except in the evenings when it'd be cooler. Shortly after our conversation with David, he called back and said he'd be able to come by the house if we were available! Yes, of course we were and waited enthusiastically. We didn't know for sure the extent of the issue with our AC - thinking we'd probably have to replace the entire system, we were nervous and unable to truly enjoy our weekend. He must have known this and made an exception to come on his day off! David arrived timely! He immediately checked the AC system and confirmed that the AC would run fine, with limited cooling, until Monday without harming it. We needed to replace a part which was the cause of the humming noise and limited cooling. He probably would have fixed it right there and then but we needed to order the part (stores were closed). We were elated that we did not have to incur the high cost of replacing the entire AC system and able to enjoy the our weekend in peace! First thing on Monday morning, David arrived on time. He replaced the part, cleaned the entire AC system area, and made our home cooler, again! He was about done when I had to step out for a brief five minutes and left a check with him and key to lock up!!! He did just that and left a receipt and courtesy thank you note on our kitchen table (and hid our key as instructed). To add to almost perfection, the price was more than reasonable and most of all fair. Cool Horizons, David Rogers, is amazingly Honest, Reliable, Timely, and very Caring - better than family! read more

I came home friday night July 31 to a hot house. The fan was blowing air but it was hot...the dreaded A/C failure on a weekend in a summer drought. I called Joe that night around 8pm. Told him we were down. He offered to come out that night and look at it right away. That was very nice. Saturday morning was fine with me and Joe showed up early Saturday morning. He quickly diagnosed the problem...2 blown capacitors. The compressor would not kick on because the capacitors were bad. He had one on hand and went to his supply store to get the other. He installed and then went about cleaning the coils and performing other checks to make sure the air conditioning unit was performing at maximum efficiency. He also check the air handler unit in the attic. Everything is working fine and the unit is cooling very well for a 14 year old system. I have called on Cool Horizons and Joe many times over the years for our primary house and rental units. He has always repaired / checked the systems and never done more than needed. To come out on a Saturday morning with very little notice shows you the commitment Joe has to his customers. Joe is honest and meticulous...he also is very good at HVAC repair and service. I agree with all the other reviews here...friendly, reliable, reasonable...and above all a person and company you can trust to give you the truth about your systems. I highly recommend Joe and Cool Horizons for all your HVAC needs. read more

I called JoJo at Cool Horizons today because my downstairs unit wasn't working and he came very highly recommended by several of my neighbors. He called me back within minutes, was able to come out right away and fixed the problem. He was very polite and showed me the part that was broken. I had many questions about ac units and he was very patient and answered all my questions. I have very old units and he could have easily convinced me that I needed 2 new units, but he was honest and it was an easy fix (today). When we do need new units I will definitely call him. read more

Mike W. I highly recommend Jo Jo and David for any repair and or new installation. Jojo and Dave are all about customer service. We've used Cool Horizons once previously after not feeling the love from our former AC team and had a great experience. So when my AC went out today, they were my first and only call. I called at 4pm and they were here within the hour. They worked quickly to diagnosis and resolve the problem and by dinnertime all was comfortable in the house again!
