It's getting that time of year. Our AC/Heating system needed to be replaced after 20 years. Eco Air came out and really did a great job laying out our options. Matt introduced us to the Daikin, yes the Astros stadium name, variable speed AC and heat pump system. The entire replacement took one day, workmanship was very professional. If you've never heard of the variable speed system, do yourself a favor. It is so quiet and extremely efficient. Price was less than some had quoted for regular or dual stage systems. No more hard loud start-ups, we hardly know when it's running. Give Eco Air a shot, we couldn't be more pleased. read more

My first review ever on yelp. I had the same experience as another customer: had another tech look at my condenser, quote me $1000 to do a bunch of unneeded work involving parts under warranty. Then I called Eco Air Conditioning. Matt at Eco Air checked everything over, and discovered that my heat pump valve wiring had gotten disconnected, causing the unit to run hot air. Simple fix. We have used Joe & Eco Air in the past and had a great experience with fair pricing. I made the mistake of using McCullough Heating and Air. Don't make the mistake I did, choose Eco. I got a quick quote to compare a warranty repair, and Eco was $700 cheaper. These guys were fantastic. We recently had a large & very difficult retrofit of our double HVAC system and these guys handled it with speed and grace. Our system was very outdated (30-35 years old), and although still functioning, was most certainly limping and on it's last legs... The owner of the Company Joe came out to the house and took a look at everything, even ascending the sketchy ladder into our attic to assess the situation. Sure enough: we could have been in real trouble in this scorcher of a summer if we didn't take action quickly. Within a few days Joe sent out his top technicians Camilo & Lanier and those guys got down to business. They removed the antiquated system and had a brand-new, modern replacement up and running within a few hours. This was no small feat as there were 2 large Exchanger units that had to be removed from the second floor attic. Camilo & Lanier are clearly very experienced experts and had the double system with new thermostats fully functional in no time. The old units were in pretty horrible shape and they removed all the rusted and corroded parts from our property the same day. All of this happened (thankfully) right before the first major heat wave hit this summer. Last week I had the guys go up to North Austin to help my brother with his system. My brother sent me a text stating: "These guys are heroes!" & I have to concur. Superb! A/C stopped working around midday in hot/humid weather. Was a bit of an emergency as I have piano students coming in the house all day. They made it out to our home within 90 minutes and replaced a bad dual capacitor. Also cleaned and inspected our entire system. We noticed our air conditioning unit was running as it should, in-house temperature wasn't changing, fan was weak.....gave it a chance after chaining the filter as we do regularly. We called Eco Air and Joe told my husband little things to do that may get it going. Very helpful! It still wasn't right so a tech was sent out the following morning. Not Great Regard For Basic Detail I called them to replace an AC wall unit. The inspection went well and they communicated and were ok to work with throughout. My main issues are the following: 1. The replacement wall unit was the wrong dimensions, and stuck out from the wall. They did not know/communicate this until the end. To their credit, they discounted me $200 and were apologetic. However, while this covered materials needed to frame in the AC, it did not nearly cover my time to fix, and I am left with a replacement AC that is framed sticking out from my wall, rather than flush. See pics attached. 2. The new unit is extremely loud compared to the old unit, and is extremely distracting. In conclusion, I cannot give them an average rating when AC dimensions should be a baseline check. Additionally, the increased volume of the new unit is dissatisfactory. read more

Eco Air conditioning saved me from getting my entire compressor replaced which would have been thousands of dollars!! Another HVAC company had given me an incorrect diagnosis claiming a bad compressor. Eco Air suggested I check the circuit breaker to the ac unit because sometimes a current measurement at the unit can also root cause to a faulty breaker at the panel. So I took Eco Air's wisdom and hired an electrician instead to test the circuit breakers at my main electrical panel. The electrician noticed that one of the wires to the breaker was a little loose and low and behold the AC is running for over 10 hours now!! I can't thank the folks at Eco enough! Their wisdom really pulled through on this and I will definitely be using them in the future for any HVAC needs. This business takes a lot of cross-discipline knowledge so I heavily appreciate when professionals try to take a step back when a diagnosis can lead to a very costly repair. Sometimes a re-diagnosis is necessary and they made me realize that!! On top of that, I had them run their own compressor replacement quote and it was very competitive, so they really do try to the best in their business in every aspect!! I'm a brand new Customer. But overall I am happy with ECO. When our AC went out, Frank came over and said we had no Freon, and that the cost to replace it was $1k, but there is also a leak some place - probably in the unit - so it wouldn't last long. So the owner (Joe) quoted a new unit. I called 5 other companies who also gave me proposals. I chose ECO for 3 reasons: They had good reviews on NextDoor, the price they quoted for a new Lennox air conditioner was significantly less than any of the competitors, and Frank seemed trustworthy. The "other guys", CostCo, Home Depot, and some independents came out and explained exactly what they would do. With ECO, it was just a price in an email. No ToDo List. No contract. Just a price. They don't offer financing, so I had to pay cash, but I can finance it another way. ** Here's the thing: If you "pay up" for the big stores, you're going to get more TLC. But I saved $5,000 over CostCo (which also sells Lennox). That's what I optimized to. THE PRODUCT is the AC UNIT. Right? Like buying a Chevy. The install is basically hooking up the 2 lines for Freon from the Condenser outside the house to the (new) Coil in the attic unit. Pretty hard to mess up. After they finished, I inspected it with Matthew. A warning light was lit on the drain, so he blew the drain lines and it went out. My Halo Reme air purifier was off, and he fixed that. But those were minor issues. The house has been very cool. BTW, he mentioned that I did not have a thermal barrier on my attic stair entrance, so I went on Amazon and bought one for $30. Wish I'd done that years ago. Thanks, Matthew. STAY TUNED. I will post again in about 3 months after the AC unit has had time to "burn in". But at this point, I am very happy with my decision and would recommend Eco Air for those on a budget who just want their AC replaced with a name brand. _________________________________________ ** Regarding Financing: When a company says they have 0% financing, beware. Well, I had a bad experience, however, I have to acknowledge that the owner did try to get to the bottom of the issue and ultimately did refund the cost of the service call. Great customer service, very informative guidance on HVAC maintenance. Reasonable service fees.

Our high dollar Trane system went down, and Eco Air were the first to respond. The tech didn't seem to know much about Trane and spent some time trying to get their tech support. In the end, he said I should get a new "condenser", meaning the whole outdoor unit, which would cost at least $4K for a non-Trane unit. When I got a "trained" Trane tech from Climate Mechanical over to look at it, he was able to fix it with a capacitor and a start kit. Price: $455 total. To be fair, Eco Air did show up, for $95, but their solution would have been 10x what I paid, and no telling how long it would have taken. read more

Our ac unit was having trouble keeping up with this hellacious weather and I was afraid we'd have to replace the unit mid summer. I put out an inquiry and while several businesses responded, I scheduled a service call with Eco. They came out the same day and were able to service the unit for the price of the visit and we are cool again. read more

I had Eco air out June 22 to do a tune up/inspection and also to have them install a hard start kit to prevent anything horrible from happening during the summer. I haven't had it looked at in about 3 years. They did what they said they would and I paid them probably too much but I'm not going to complain when most HVAC companies are slammed. Tonight, July 15, a little over 3 weeks later, my AC stopped blowing cold air and the unit outside wouldn't turn on. I had to call an emergency company to come out and fix it. Blown capacitor. I'm pretty sure that one of the things on their to-do list was to check the capacitor. It could have been fine. I don't think they checked anything though because the company who came out tonight told me that the condenser coil was filthy. He took care of it all. I will not be using Eco Air again. Frank was great. Hired Eco to do a tune-up for my two HVAC systems. Didn't try to sell me entire furnace/condenser replacements even though my equipment is 12 years old. I also had a giant 30 foot duct that fell and separated from 3 vents that cooled one half of my home. For nearly a year, I wasn't getting any air to this part! It was the original duct from 1986 (probably) and made out of sheet metal. It was broken in several places. Frank was able to tape it up for me, and apply mastic, and now that side of my house feels so much cooler. I can bear being in my kitchen. It saved me a few hundred dollars which it would've cost to replace the duct with flexi-duct. Now I have a functioning duct that will last a while longer. I bought the bi-annual tune-up so I'll have them back in the winter for another tune-up. read more

We had a different company diagnose a leak in our mini-split on the second story of our home. Their quote for repairs seemed high and they weren't able to do the repairs for another 2 weeks. Just starting working with Eco Air Conditioning. Had a service visit today, and I'm very pleased with their work. Joe arrived on time and was very professional and helpful. He took the time to answer all of my questions and explain why my system was intermittently shutting down. He cleared the drain line and I expect it should be all good now. I have a high efficiency communicating unit, and my old AC provider came out but wouldn't service it because they didn't install it. Joe said they don't have any such rule, and that they like challenges - what they don't know, they will find it out. This house is new to me, so I really asked Joe a lot of questions, and again, he was very patient and helpful. Cold air has returned. Good experience. Eco Air is recommended. Update 6-6-18 Just the "tune up" we got by topping off the refrigerant made a huge difference. After being told it was time to replace my A/C system by another company, I gave Eco Air a call. Had a tech out to my house in less than 90 minutes. Frank immediately recognized the issue with the drain (that the other company did not catch), walked me through what was wrong, and what he was doing to rectify it. While another company quoted me ~$275 just for a quote ("emergency hours" charge due to Covid-19), Eco Air had everything up and working for $160 in less than half an hour. Frank also gave me some essential tips on A/C maintenance and upkeep to prevent future issues. I cannot recommend this company enough, and will definitely be the first one I call in the future. Had a few concerns with my A/C and requested a quote here on yelp. The initial fee is reasonable to have someone come out. Tech was sent out the next morning. The levels were checked and the tech gave a lot of information and was able to talk about the layout of the system. No pressure to do any extra services or buy new equipment. Justin came out to look for a refrigerant leak but couldn't find it. When discussing next steps, he suggested replacing the evaporator coil which is notorious for leaking. It was a significant $2k+ cost so I was hesitant to agree without confirming the source of the leak. Joe came out the next week free of charge to find the leak. Turned out Justin's sniffer was faulty all week and Joe was able to identify the leak quickly. In the end, after some discussion, it made sense to replace my coil and AC condenser due to an expired warranty. The team found a coil which was actually not in stock from Lennox and managed to get it down to Austin for installation. Installation occurred the next week within a few hours. The guys who came by were great and courteous. Joe offered a fair price, answered all my questions in a timely fashion, and never made me feel pressured about operating according to their timeline. He was able to locate a part that was in short supply, too. His team was very considerate. I'd recommend Eco AC to anyone. read more

They used full floor coverings and did not leave a scrap behind. The install looks better than the original unit that came with the house, and the function is absolutely perfect. Turns out there was a hole in my attic duct and I'd been cooling my attic for months. Joe, the owner, was truly awesome and very helpful in explaining some things over the phone about our issue. So then we had a couple technicians come to our home and give our system a tune-up and assess what we should do next about our musty smell in the home. Frank and Travis were truly wonderful techs. Super thorough, professional, respectful and had great knowledge to share about our options. Their prices are reasonable as well. This review is a bit long, but addresses the level of customer service I received and why I am giving them such a high rating. Last week our AC stopped working at night; was blowing fine during the day, but at night we would just hear the fan blowing in the attic. House is less than two years old and I am no HVAC repair guy, so I was annoyed to say the least. Turned to Google for some answers, turned up the thermo so that the fan would stop blowing , fired up the fans, and went to bed. Slept like a baby. Woke up in the morning and the AC was working again. Methinks something froze up last night and giving the lil engine that could a break was beneficial. Night two rolls around; same problem, same resolution. Thursday rolls around and I am doing some Yelping. Want this issue resolved and found EcoAir. Live in South Austin, reviews are good, give them a call. Get a technician scheduled to come do some Preventative Maintenance and to check out the problem. Like I said, no HVAC tech here, but also hadn't done as much (or any) PM as I probably should have....first time homeowner, ya know. Anyways, Matt comes out Friday morning and I describe the issue to him. He does the PM and confirms my hypothesis that something is freezing up. He asks to conduct a leak check with comes at a cost of a few hundred bucks. At this point he's at my house and I want the problem solved, so whatthehell. After an hour or so, he can't seem to find the leak, but does mention that our unit needs a more few pounds of coolant. Lack of coolant = lack of cold blowing air. Kiss 90 bucks goodbye. Total bill for PM, leak inspection, and coolant is about five benjis. After talking to neighbors, I called another company who came out today (who also need a review) and they took a look at it all. In less than five minutes, I kid you not, leak was found. Mudda effin...I thought to myself. Guy tinkers around and says I have to replace the evaporator, which is luckily covered under the warranty. Made me think I was Luke Skywalker checking on the moisture vaporators, but alas, I digress.... Call Eco Air, describe the issue, and call it a day. Less than 30 mins later, the owner calls me back and apologizes. I describe to him what happened and he legit feels sorry about it. He offers to refund the complete cost of the inspection and is putting a check in the mail. I offered to take a partial refund because I know this is a small local company and they gotta pay their employees. But he insists on sending me the complete amount back. THIS is why Eco Air is getting a 5 star review; when the owner of a small company calls you back in a timely manner, offers his apology, makes the situation right, AND ACTS WITH INTEGRITY, that is how you build loyal and strong customers.
