The Concerning The final cost was $2,303.60 for what I've since learned should typically cost $700-$1,000 (that is including emergency service fees). While I understand emergency calls command premium pricing, this felt excessive. Additionally, the quoted price increased from $2,000 to $2,303.60 when it was time to pay without clear explanation of the additional charges. My Takeaway Apex delivers on availability and technical competence when you're in a crisis. However, I'd strongly recommend getting multiple quotes if time permits, as their emergency pricing appears significantly above market rate. The convenience of immediate service came at a steep premium that I wasn't prepared for. Would I use them again? Only in a true emergency where no other options exist, and I'd request detailed pricing breakdowns upfront. For future customers: Get clear, written estimates before work begins, and ask about all potential additional fees.

My AC condensation pipe was completely backed up and needed to be flushed. Their tech arrived on time and seemed very professional, spending about an hour and a half working on the unit and inspecting everything inside and out. However, he couldn't find where the evaporator line exited the house. His solution? Install an external pump and run a whole new drain line. The rough estimate for that was, well, a hell of a lot more than the $15 fee they charged me just to come out and take a look. When he left, I still had the exact same broken AC, was stressing over an exorbitant bill to fix it, and somehow found out I'd been signed up for a $15-a-month service plan that entitled me to another check-up in six months just in time for winter. Hoping to just get it resolved, I reached out to Service Wizard via Yelp later that evening to see if they could come back today to do the work the tech recommended. I never got a response. Frustrated, I called a different AC company. They actually answered the phone, sent technicians out right on time today, and those guys spent **five minutes** at my house before finding the external line, repairing it, and flushing my system. Problem completely solved in under five minutes, and the fee was incredibly cheap compared to the massive quote I got from Service Wizard. I will definitely be canceling my $15-a-month contract with Service Wizard and won't be recommending them going forward. Save yourself the headache and call someone else!

I was told I would hear from the contractor within 24 hours. Late Friday evening, I received a text from the technician asking if a Saturday appointment window of 10:00 AM-1:00 PM would work, and I confirmed immediately. Saturday came and went with no arrival, no call, and no update. By 2:00 PM, I had attempted to contact the technician several times before finally receiving a response that he was still on another job. He ultimately arrived around 3:00 PM and completed the visit. I understand that delays happen, especially in the HVAC industry during busy seasons. My frustration wasn't that the technician was running behind--it was the lack of communication throughout the day. A quick text letting customers know you're running late can go a long way and helps people plan their day accordingly. The service itself ended up being fine, but the communication and customer experience could definitely use improvement. Hopefully this feedback helps future customers and encourages better communication when schedules change.

A-US showed up the next day, replaced a capacitor, and rolled out before testing anything. I called AHS because the unit still was not cooling after replacement. they sent them back out, the guy that showed up second seemed really helpful. he tried to add freon and the pressures wouldnt change. he went to the attic and found a massive leak in the unit. he told AHS I needed a new indoor and outdoor unit. a WEEK later, they were out to replace the unit. it didnt go well. the tech spent about 3 hours trying to get this fancy unit to connect to the fancy thermostat. glad they upsold me on junk. after that, he gave up, left a note that the thermostat needed replaced. fast forward to the next morning, new tech shows up, troubleshoots it to a bad thermostat, LEAVES TO GO GET A THERMOSTAT!!! 3 hours later, shows up, replaces it, it connects, AC starts working finally. the note said it was a bad thermostat and he wasted 5 hours because he didnt bring one with him. Also, my thermostat is still just hanging by the wires today, a week and a half later, because they didnt have a backplate. Now, less than a week later, it can't connect to the unit again, and my upstairs is over 90 degrees inside. called on Wednesday, they hoped to be out Thursday, but made an appointment Friday just in case. These guys have the nerve to send a text Thursday late (5:15pm) when they close at 5, telling me they have to cancel my appointment and move me to Monday. They absolutely suck. First would be dont get AHS, but if you do, try to have them use someone else for AC before A-US. this has been an awful awful awful experience. A-US doesnt deserve the 1.8 stars it has on yelp.

They loaded an incorrect unit on the truck that the technician/installer recognized after the demo of the existing unit and instead of ignoring and installing anyway (sometimes challenging for a homeowner to know the difference) he called the company and went back to pick up the right one and was still able to complete the installation within a normal timeframe. Erick was very methodical & quick, yet meticulous (& didn't rush or cut corners after losing an hour to pick up correct unit) and payed attention to the details and cleaned everything up afterwards. Louis did a great job on the outside unit, new "pad", electrical connections, etc. ps... they handle registering your product, rebates and arranging the city inspector, who by the way, said it was a great installation job and loves to see installations like that.

I do find them, unsurprisingly, rapidly responsive after they submit a quote. Then, there are the coupons, with the fine-print disclaimers. In my case, a $150 "special" promotional discount vanished when we removed a short run of basic flex duct from the scope of work. No explanation was given about the discount's removal. It just vanished from the quote. Awesome HVAC company, if you can tote the note, and navigate the, sometimes disappearing, morass of their special promotions, discounts, and coupons.

Sorry for the long review...but please read on to hear my horror story with this sorry excuse of a company. I don't normally write reviews (good or bad), but my poor experience with this company cannot go unheard. I feel obligated to warn others of their frankly criminal business practices. I originally called them out to take a look at my old HVAC that was no longer producing cold air. They identified the Freon was low and filled it back up. Worked well for a bit, but then got low again...indicating their was a leak in the system. The unit was so old, we decided to replace the unit instead of fixing it. The new unit was installed, but not without issue. I chose what they described as their go-to brand - American Standard. Apparently their technicians do not know how to install their go-to brand, because it took several days and several different technicians to get the install completed. A year later, the unit began tripping the breaker any time it went to the 2nd stage. Took them 3 days to come out (when approaching triple digit temperatures), charged $150 service fee and $450 in parts and labor to add a capacitor to the setup (a $50 part and about 10 minutes of labor). Did not fix the problem. Tech came out again, and said it seemed to be an issue with the breaker and that I needed to call an electrician to diagnose and solve the problem. Ended up paying $300 for an electrician to come out. When he took a look at the install, he was flabbergasted. He could not believe what he was seeing! He identified the unit was installed on an aluminum electrical line, that was severely undersized for the unit installed. He said no respectable company would EVER do this kind of shotty work. He said replacing the electrical line would likely cost a couple thousand dollars, since it was on the other side of the house. When I called Smart Air to let them know of the situation, the dispatcher was very dismissive. She said she would have their lead install tech follow up with me, but of course I never heard anything back... That is when they went dark despite several additional attempts on my part, and broke communication with me entirely. I ended up having to pay an electrician to run the new line on my own dollar - several thousand dollars - and now I'm finally back up and running.

We recently upgraded our attic to a semi-conditioned space, which involved removing all of the blown fiberglass insulation on the attic floor joists and replacing it with several inches of foam sprayed overhead under the metal roof. One critical requirement that needs to be addressed when you do this is to take steps to ensure that the humidity level in the house/attic remains below approximately 55% in order to prevent mold from forming, as it is likely that the previously installed single-speed A/C unit will be oversized and consequently not run often/long enough to remove enough moisture. I expected that we would need to completely replace both of our HVAC systems at considerable expense to address this (e.g., install HVAC systems with dual or variable speed A/C units), but Tim Hostetter at TemperaturePro of West Austin came up with a much better solution that only required replacing the heating subunits along with installing ecobee thermostats that can control the systems on the basis of humidity as well as temperature. His approach literally cut the equipment and installation costs in half, saving us thousands of dollars, and our house and attic are now more comfortable than they have ever been with significantly lower energy costs to boot (e.g., attic temperature is no more than 4-5 degrees different than our living space, which eliminates any risk of pipes freezing during winter). Needless to say, I found Tim to be exceptionally knowledgeable, professional, informative, and honest, and consequently he and TemperaturePro are now our go-to resource for all things HVAC going forward. This is by far the best air conditioning service I have ever received, and I have owned many homes and rent houses. First, Lisa, who answers the phone was very courteous and professional with a smile in her voice. She listened carefully to my issue and was knowledgeable herself. She gave me a quote over the phone and scheduled me and appointment for the next day. She then followed up with an email with the technician's photo on it. The day of the appointment, she confirmed with a text and phone call. The tech, Martini, was very courteous, clean and knowledgeable. Clean is important if you are going to be in a house with a stranger for hours. He was very considerate of my animals and of keeping his work area clean and cleaning up afterwards. I have a mini-split system and many a/c companies are not that familiar with it. Temperaturepro is very familiar with it and has the correct tools and equipment needed to do the work. Chris, Lisa's husband, stopped by to check on the job, which was going great. Martini did a fantastic job, did it for half the price of other companies, and my airflow has tripled. I highly recommend this company. They sent me an email receipt in addition to the paper receipt I received. I am now a lifelong customer. read more

My AC system is from 2004. Temprature Pro came out the day after my phone call. I was having an issue where the system was blowing colder in one area of the home than the other. Tim Hostetter viewed all the interior vents, went up into the attic and completed a full check of the system. He drew a diagram of the entire system including the ducts, explaining whey some rooms receive more air than others. He showed me pictures he had taken showing that everything looked good inside the system. He explained the type of system that I do have and the type I will need, when the time comes to replace it. He also gave options in how to keep the price down, by not needing to replace the furnace. He made a few adjustments to the ducts, gave me an Amazon link to change out my vents, bc mine aren't the best.....over all he was at my home for an hour, did a great job and didn't try to up sell me on something I did not need. When I do need a new system or anything relating to my HVAC system, I'm definitely calling these guys! read more

I can't say enough about this company. We just moved to Austin 3 weeks ago and our A/C unit stopped working at our new house. Fidelity Home Warranty sent the repair to Temp pro for the repairs. First thing is the technician they sent out, Dean Maldonado! I can't give this young man enough props. He was about as professional as they come. Very polite and explained everything that was going on. The problem was a bad motor and fan assembly and he got it working. However a few hours later it went out again because the motor mounts finally just broke. I called the company office and they said they would talk to Fidelity and get a new motor assembly ASAP. Dean was back the next day and everything is perfect. Fidelity however did not want to pay for the entire repair so Temp Pro worked with me and we got the repair done and I can't be happier. When it comes time to replace the entire HVAC system we will not go to anyone else. read more

I provided a previous 5 star review of this company (a few years ago), but had them out again earlier this week and wanted to provide additional feedback. We have an air handler (with exterior AC) that is on our 2nd floor that was leaking and damaged the ceiling below it. It appeared likely that it was a blocked condensation drain and the technician (Stewart) spent considerable time trying to confirm this (Initially trying to pull any blockage through from the outside with a vacuum, then installing a Jones Valve and putting 200 PSI of pressure through the line to blow out any blockage. Stewart was thorough, friendly and a pleasure to work with. We have not had a problem with the unit since and I believe that the problem was resolved. Stewart did suggest I monitor for excessive condensation on the copper tubing as it is an older unit that still uses R22 and under some circumstances the unit may be freezing up. read more

These guys are awesome! I have two AC units, and the unit upstairs needed the coils replaced. I called Temperaturepro after trying to work with another company. The other company was not very responsive, (I had to call them two times over the course of a week, asking for the estimate) and quoted me ~1000 higher then my research said the price should be. Temperaturepro came out to give me an estimate when they said they would, and emailed me an estimate right away. Their estimate was right in the middle of my researched prices. They came out to do the work when they said and even moved the HVAC unit a few inches forward so I could change the air filter easier. Another nice thing about this company is they always texted me 30 minutes before they arrived to let me know they were on the way. Definitely would recommend them, and I will use them again if I have any future issues. read more

Our house is a two-story, and 3 weeks ago on a Friday night at 6:00 (1 hour after apparently almost almost A/C companies close), the fan/compressor for our upstairs went out. All the way out! Since it was Friday evening, we were looking at 3 hot, restless nights ahead. Or the couch and floor downstairs! We got REALLY lucky when we came across TemperaturePro and called them. Dean (Service Tech) was here in less than 30 minutes. He was very knowledgable, a good guy and he also noticed 1 inch of water in the drip pans underneath both our water heaters. Whoa! A few more days of that would have meant catastrophic failure! But that's the kind of techs TemperaturePro has-sharp, knowledgeable and aware. Our a/c went out while we were out of town. At first, we thought the problem was an easy fix, but after the TP crew investigated further, it turned out our entire unit needed to be replaced. Tim, the owner, called me himself (that alone deserves 5 stars!). He walked me through all of our options, answered my numerous questions, and was incredibly kind and knowledgable. Lisa, who works in the home office, made sure to have the entire unit replaced before we came home (which was just under 48-hrs) so that when we arrived back in the Texas heat, our house would be nice and cool. Reid at Temperature Pro of West Austin was a life saver! Reid and this company are both honest and competent. Our heater went out Thursday morning and my husband went into the attic and immediately knew what the problem was and asked me to call someone to come replace the broken part. Unfortunately, I called another company first and they informed me it was unrepairable and too old to fix. A new unit would be $4200+. They could put that on for me the next day. Tim came out late to my house across town due to my AC going out the night before. He diagnosed and fixed the problem at no charge and stayed almost until 7 at night to get it done. We hired a competent company afterward who confirmed Cool Horizons had done a terrible job and successfully repaired the system. When I called the owner to request a partial refund--suggesting I only pay the initial service fee, since they broke the system further--the owner yelled at me, used foul language, and aggressively hung up the phone. This company charges customers for their own mistakes and is run by an owner who is verbally abusive when challenged. Save yourself the money, the stress, and the exposure to abusive management. This business should not be operating.

I had a feeling something was off the night before, but by Thursday, it was clear something had failed. The next morning, June 20th, I called PT Maintenance & Mechanical and spoke with Teresa, who was incredibly kind and professional. She was able to schedule a same-day visit between 12-2 PM. To my nice surprise, Pete arrived early! He quickly diagnosed the issue: the safety switch had shut off the system because the drain line was backed up with water. Thankfully, the switch had done its job and prevented any damage to my floors. Pete explained everything clearly and honestly, no upselling, no gimmicks. He told me the fix was straightforward: pressurize the drain line with nitrogen and clear it out. The total cost was very reasonable and there was no fee to come and assess the issue. I called several companies that charged a fee of over $150 just to come by and look at it. He even took the time to show me how the safety switch worked, and the entire repair was completed in under 20 minutes. My AC was up and running again within a couple of minutes! He also offered helpful advice, like changing my air filters monthly instead of every three months, especially in the Texas heat, to keep the system healthy and efficient. From start to finish, this was a stress-free and trustworthy experience. PT M & M is a company that genuinely cares about doing right by its customers. I can't recommend them enough! If you've never heard of the variable speed system, do yourself a favor. It is so quiet and extremely efficient. Price was less than some had quoted for regular or dual stage systems. No more hard loud start-ups, we hardly know when it's running. Give Eco Air a shot, we couldn't be more pleased.

Short Version I…read morecalled LaCounte and iAirServices to fix a new install job by another company that went horribly wrong. They were professional, thorough, detail oriented and fixed everything that was not right with the previous install. They were able to make the temperature 5 to 6 degrees cooler, make everything nice and up to code, and significantly reduce the static pressure. If you are thinking of getting a new AC call these guys. They pay 100% attention to detail and will make sure it is done right to the specs of manufactures installation guide. There is a major difference between having a single AC technician installing your unit vs and installation crew where people are specialized. You will not have to worry about your install being done correctly. They might be a tad bit more expensive, but I assure you that investment will go a long way in having your unit installed correctly and having ZERO corners cut. We scheduled and they came out did the following (and probably more) : 1) Increase the return plenum for proper rebound zone. 2) Increase the supply plenum from 4' with a terrible workman ship to 8' with something picture worthy. Note: having a larger supply plenum is important part of duct design and helps with air flow. 3) Increase a return duct size to get appropriate return air, 4) Straighten existing duct work to remove restrictions. 5) Install furnace and evaporator coil per instructions. This is where they fixed specifically what the instructions said not to do which was done incorrectly by original installer. 6) Fix the electrical wiring outside to meet code. 7) Fixed the low voltage wiring to the outside unit that had the protective insulation worn off. This probably saved me an electrical short and thousands of dollars of damage a year or so down the road. 8) Sealed/glue the condensate pvc drain line. Seriously, the original installer did not even do this? 9) Moved the air scrubber to the supply side of the unit so I will work more effectively. 10) Remove all refrigerant, vacuum, pressure test and retest the unit to make sure there was nothing bad in the line. 11) Fixed furnace exhaust pipe to go to the right direction. 12) Fixed furnace exhaust to go to correct size outlet. At the end of the day the static pressure decreased from 1.4 to .9 and a 5-6 degree temperature drop but LaCounte wants the static pressure number better/lower. So they are going to come back and increase some of the supply ducts in our bedroom and living room because they are undersized and are not getting appropriate air to them. The crew itself fast, efficient, courteous, meticulous, and cared about the craftsmanship. Heck, they even vacuumed up in the attic. Yup - that is right. They cleaned up after themselves very well and even cleaned up their mess in the attic. These guys are installation artists. LaCounte, his crew, and iAirServices care about quality and will not cut corners. If you need a new AC, call them. You will know that everything will be done right and if something isn't 100% right they will fix it. And they will be transparent... LaCounte said he is not happy with the static pressure number and they will come back to fix it by increasing duct size. If you purchase a new AC system, say a 16 SEER, and the install job is so terrible like mine was, it does not operate at 16 Seer. TBH, I would be lucky if the original installation were as effective as a 11 or 12 seer unit. I am curious to see how this system will handle a 15 degree day, but I suspect it will do quite well. I am lucky to have found these guys to help get us out of a mess. Learn from my mistake and call them first.
