I've never had any of their alcoholic beverages, but they look and sound really good. They also always have wines and beer selections that appear to be from different areas in California. I don't think I would ever torture myself by standing in the line to eat here - but apparently Fresno peeps think this place is bourgie lol (according to my daughter). Think maybe a slightly elevated Mendocino Farms.

Horrible. So shitty. Cool hand Luke's is one of the worst restaurants in Clovis or Fresno. I can't possibly wrap my brain around the fact that people love this place so much. i heard a ton of great things about this place. When i hear comments like "Cool hand Lukes is one of the best steak house in the Fresno Clovis area.' i really seriously wonder if we were eating at the same place. Whats the deal? Are there two separate menus at this place like a good one and a supremely shitty one? The decor of this looks just like Jr's western wear emporium in Galveston Texas. Oh and by the way the movie cool hand Lukes is about a man who escapes from prison. so why does this restaurant have a Western theme. They got one thing right because the food taste like the food in one of our countries fine correctional institution's. Yes the food is terrible. i had a sirloin steak, like i had never had a sirloin (or any steak for that mater) before in my life. I think the recipe goes like this: take a 10 oz sirloin steak let swim in vinegar or some sort of meat tenderizer for a couple weeks. next beat the shit out of it without mercy with a mallet for several hours. The result a terrible tasting steak that has the texture of saw dust. My steak came with mashed potato's with a catch. The catch was the mashed potato's came with BBQ sauce and Cheddar cheese melted over the top. (Yeah for real BBQ sauce.) They really know how to throw you a curve ball at cool hand's . I was expecting BBQ sauce on my potato's like i was expecting the server to levitate. with all that said cool had Lukes is a very poor excuse for a restaurant, the owner should be put in prison for this crap he is calling food and making people pay for. Just so you understand how much i hate this place i have comprised a western style list of horrible ordeals i would rather go through than the ordeal of eating at this place. 1. i would rather try to coax a rattlesnake to bite my nuts 2. i would rather dip my hand in a bucket of water and slap a sleeping cougar across the face. 3. i would rather strip down nude have a helicopter fly about 15 feet above a bed of cactus and jump in. 4. i would rather take one of cool hand Luke's steaks wear it around my neck while trying to pet a grizzly bear. well tar nation! There is alot of f ed up shit i would rather do than eat at that terrible place. Oh well, to wrap up cool hand Luke's food sucks and its theme makes no sense. On April 27, 201, we arrived an hour after opening and the place was nearly empty. There was definitely more wait staff than customers. We were seated promptly. Our waitress seemed a bit eager to take our order because after taking our drink order, she was back quite quickly to see if we were ready to order our meals. We asked for a few minutes, and she was generous to give us a few more than that. No worries though--especially since we were not in a rush. We ordered an appetizer... It's been a while since I've been here...looks like they've gone through another menu pricing increase. I was surprised to find the appetizers now cost just shy of $20. Oh well, a sign of the times, right? I ordered soup and salad for my meal, and a steak. A few minutes later, two servers came out with my soup and salad.. When I informed them this was my entree and we were still waiting for our appetizer, they were a bit confused and seemed to want me to take my meal while my husband waited for his. After an awkward pause, they agreed to take the meal back to the kitchen and bring it out after the appetizer and when my husband's meal was also ready. Because I had made a few special requests for the salad, I asked them to just keep my salad chilled--no reason to toss a perfectly good salad due to timing issues. The rest of the meal was flawless. Our waitress was prompt in refilling beverages, and overall, it was a very nice meal. By the time we left, the place was busy with the standard Saturday rush...and our quality of service did not suffer even with the busier dining room. In all, I don't mind if there are mistakes made at a restaurant--we're all human. What matters to me is how they are handled. The servers did not make me feel bad for requesting my appetizer first, and they were more than courteous and prompt...and of course--it helped that the food was quite delicious! read more

I've eaten here before and had a good meal, but tonight was awful. They were not crowded, but we still had to wait to be seated. Once we were finally seated, we kept having wait staff walk past us, but no one stopped to help. The service didn't get much better as the meal went on. As for the food, the prime rib sliders were great! The rest of the meal wasn't worth a quarter of what we paid for it. The food arrived lukewarm, maybe that's why they call it Cool Hand Luke's. The lime chicken skewer was bland at best. I ordered the 32 oz bone in rib eye. $59 paid for the worst cut of rib eye that I have ever been served! This was a low grade cut of meat. There was little to no cap on it. It was gristly and like the chicken, it was bland and lukewarm. I ordered medium rare and it came out very rare. There was no seasoning at all and the steak taste like it was cooked on a dirty grill. The meat was tough and chewy. What an incredible disappointment. Not sure about all the haters on line here. some of these reviews are suspect to me! For my money you can't beat the food and drink at Cool Hand Luke's. It's rare to find a place that is so consistently good in service and food quality here in the Valley. I like spending my money local and this place is a locally owned and locally grown restaurant chain that is spreading through the Valley and beyond. Try the RibEye smothered in mushrooms or ask them if you like it black and bleu. they are cool and accommodating. The bread pudding is arguably the best in town. Not sure what Paul Newman's character in the movie has to do with the over the top cowboy ish, but that's easy to overlook. read more

If you like your steak rare or medium rare this is not the place for you I wanted to like this place so much that I tried it 4 times and each time something went wrong most of the time it was the fact that they could not seem to cook anything less than a medium steak and I just dont like it that way. The last time i went o ordered the prime rib and it came out looking like it had sat out for a few hours and the manager even agreed. They have great side appetizers and the best bread pudding but I dont go to a steak house for side dishes and bread pudding. read more

Had a nice experience at Cool Hand Luke's. The 3 star is based mainly on the steak. It had good flavor, but it was pretty tough. My sides were good. The place was loud, but not overbearing. Service was also at about 3 stars. Our waitress was okay. She didn't go into details or try to sell us on anything. I asked if the calamari steak was good and she replied "yes." I asked if she recommends the rib eye or prime rib and she replied "they are both popular." She wasn't rude, just generic. I will come back and try this location again. read more

I ordered it medium, and it came out medium (imagine that). The best part was the sunny side egg that was placed on top. That first bite was heavenly. The only thing I would add next time is an element of spice to take things up to another level. My wife ordered the BLTA sandwich , with sweet potato fries. I didn't try a bite because I had enough bacon on my burger , but I did sneak a sweet potato fry , and it was fantastic. My son order the chimichurri steak , he seemed to enjoy it although it may have had too much sauce on it for his liking. Perhaps it would been better if he ordered the sauce on the side. My picky daughter ordered the pesto chicken sandwich ,and she said it was pretty good. My family and I were full , but weren't going to let the dessert options pass us by. My family has a sweet tooth. We all shared the chocolate cake and bread pudding . Both are nice options if you need something sweet to top off your meal. The food is solid, the atmosphere is naturally friendly, and the overall vibe should make for a great night out. Unfortunately, the owner single-handedly ruins the entire night. Every single evening, he can be found parked at the bar, working his way through a bottle of wine, getting visibly intoxicated, and treating everyone around him with utter disrespect. He is blatantly rude to customers and staff alike, bringing a toxic, uncomfortable energy to the entire room. Walking through the front door and seeing him sitting at the bar instantly sours the mood and makes you want to turn around and walk right back out. It is heartbreaking to see such a great staff and a cool local spot get weighed down by someone who has zero respect for his own business or the people supporting it. Go for the food and support the incredible workers if you must, but be prepared for a deeply uncomfortable atmosphere the second the owner opens his mouth.
