Micah and I were running some errands today and he was hungry all of a sudden...what's new? The moment you leave the house with a fridge stuffed with food choices, your kid says, "Hey Dad, I'm hungry." Anyway, I didn't want fast food...I hate it! But Micah was in the mood for a chicken sandwich, so as we were heading towards our destination we saw Cook Out and stopped to get him a quick bite to eat. For kiddos especially, this place is awesome. The have great combo packs, milkshakes, and aren't just limited to burgers and fries. They have quesadillas, corn dogs, burgers, chicken, etc. Needless to say, he was very pleased with his meal. He really likes this place. And I like the inexpensive prices and value.

Across from the WalMart on Rutherford, this location is in an area that sees heavy traffic during weekdays and when MTSU is in session. The restaurant is easy to see, just turn in when you see Starbucks or Cook Out if you are coming from the south. The burgers really do taste like you went to a friends house and had a burger that they cooked on their grill. Not fancy but satisfying. The slaw is straight out of a famous fried chicken chain that is know for a founder that likes wearing white suits. The beans are better left behind the counter as they were very salty. I can get behind the shakes, though. The flavor selection is large and my peanut butter shake was rich and creamy and tasted like they put real peanut butter in it, which I'm hoping they did! Overall, a decent place for a casual meal. Just stay away from those beans!

Got this Corndog today from Cook Out Burgers. Definitely don't recommend. Wow!

Got this Corn Dog from here today. Quality control is not up to par. Definitely don't recommend. Wow!

First time at this restaurant chain. We got the food to go. The only reason why I'm not giving this restaurant one star is because my daughter liked her pulled pork. The burger patties were super small and over cooked. The fries were under-seasoned and the hush puppies were tasteless. We won't be back.

Great price for cheap cafeteria style burgers and fries! Whenever I'm in town, I must stop here! While I was pregnant I would sometimes eat here twice during my stay in Murfreesboro. The burgers are good, always cooked made to order, very fresh, hot, and tasty. I love the cheese fries here. Crinkle fries with actual cheese sauce. None of that sprinkle shredded cheese. The fast food joint itself is very clean inside. I would highly recommend stopping here.

Opening night of a new restaurant. How glamorous! Really though, the place is fairly good, especially considering the price. The selections are what one might call standard American "summertime" fare; burgers, hotdogs, assorted chicken items, and pulled bbq plates. They have a pretty impressive milkshake list as well. The restaurant bills itself as "cooked outdoors style", and I'd have to agree based on what I tried. My burger tasted like something that would game off a grill at a park, or perhaps from the concession shack of a little league game. The veggies on the burger were of higher quality than I expected for the price. There are quite a few side items to choose from, and you're able to pick two for a combo. I also opted for a shake, and it was definitely better than most shakes from fast food joints. The prices are very low as well; with most of the sandwich items being a couple bucks and nearly all of the sides only costing 99 cents. Their combos are slightly over 4 dollars. All in all, it seems a decent alternative to typical nationwide burger chains, especially if you're wanting to spend very little. Opening up right next to several student apartment complexes was probably a brilliant decision on their part, as this is exactly the sort of place I would have loved to have next door during my broke college days.

The milkshakes are amazing. The cook out tray is the best thing to order. Pretty good amount of food for a cheap price.

The tables were dirty and the floors had trash all around. The employees acted unhappy to be there. The tea was good.

My go-to drink is the Dirty Hippie--it never disappoints. Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. It is on the pricier side, but the portions are generous, so you definitely get your money's worth. Parking can be tricky but we always get lucky and find something around the square.

The food is delivered to your table. While waiting, I noticed that the old building has a faint mold smell that would have set my wife's allergies off. I was alone on a lunch break. I ordered their Greatest American Hero burger with Cajun fries. The fries were crispy and perfectly cooked. They were great. The burger was perfectly cooked and had enough lettuce that the fresh crunch came through. Joanie's Magic Sauce was served on the side. It was good with the burger but not the fries. This was my first trip here and I can recommend it. The burger was better than average. I'd give it a 7.8 out of 10. Other than the moldy smell, I can recommend it. The condiments are in small packets on a wall, which I didn't care for, but not the end of the world.

While visiting Panther Creek Brews there was a non-descript food truck there with a hand-written…read moremenu. I took a look at the menu and it didn't really resemble what most food trucks offer. The offerings indicated someone who cooked using a bit of flair and looked like they knew how to enhance a dish with sauces. I selected the Rosemary Chicken Bacon Ranch Quesadillas. Now these are not like any quesadilla I've had as a "appetizer" at many restaurants, this was a creative melding of intricate flavors into a quasi-soft shell taco/quesadilla. The grilled chicken had great flavor and the bacon and ranch really complemented the quesadilla. The tortilla was perfect, slightly crisp, and held the entire quesadilla together and didn't fall apart after the first bite. To top it all off...I got to meet the owners/operators Frankie and Tony Wong. This couple works hard, serve up great food, and are really fun to talk to. Highly recommend you like and subscribe to their FB Page. Their menu is a dry erase board and changes daily, I can't wait to see what special item they will create next. https://www.facebook.com/Myrootsfoodtruck

The TRIPLE LAYER TOMATO AND BASIL GRILLED CHEESE ON SOURDOUGH was delish! Soft, with a crunchy outside and surprisingly not too much bread. A good amount of cheese and flavor. I'd definitely recommend. CRINKLE CUT FRIES were over cooked. I'm sad to say I didn't even finish them, which is rare for me since this cut of fries is my absolute favorite! Just too crunch and the flavor was heavy on the oil, rather than potato. Total cost was $9 before tip, which made it one of the least expensive items on the truck. Customer service was professional. Food was made quickly and from order. Pretty good, IMO.
