Cheap yummy burgers. Way better than a McDonald's, Wendy's, burger king burger. Highly recommend, glad we stopped in while out of town.

The food was amazing and the counter staff was polite but the manager hassled me about my service animal, who was wearing identification. Asked me for paperwork, which I'm not obligated to carry, and he's not legally allowed to ask for. When I told him that he was very rude to me. Won't be back here. read more

Christmas Eve was our third time visiting. I am now dealing with food poisoning for the third day, after having the grilled chicken sandwich on Christmas Eve night. Tried this place out on Monday and I must say it's good food. Prices are excellent and the staff is very patient. There's a huge menu and so many things to choose from! I went to the new one on Memorial Parkway for lunch today. The hamburger looked and tasted like it was made yesterday. The fries were stale. I ate at the other location one time about a year ago and was not impressed. The experience today was very bad. I won't be eating there again. read more

It was so cold in there I had to wear a toboggan! I would've wore gloves but I didn't want to get ketchup on them!! Burger was good though.

We tried Cook Out for the first time Friday then got it for a second time on Saturday (and we aren't big fast food eaters)! The burgers remind us of Five Guys, yet at much more reasonable prices. A regular burger is on the small side, but in combination with a tray that comes with two sides, it provides plenty of food. It tastes like a burger you'd make in your backyard grill. Same great smoked flavor for the hot dogs. I ordered one plain and did not add a thing to it as nothing else was needed. For the sides, I love their fries with cajun seasoning and their slaw. I'm pretty picky about slaw, but theirs is great. The cabbage is diced into small pieces and the flavor is very mild - not overly vinegar tasting or too heavy with the mayonnaise. The highlight of the meal, though, was the milkshake. I ordered a peanut butter one, and it tasted just like one from a local franchise where I grew up and have never been able to replicate from restaurants in the mid-state. It was thick with real peanut butter and the only bad thing about it was when it was gone! Cook Out offers great food that tastes homemade for very reasonable prices. read more

When my boyfriend and I get to craving that bad for your health food this is where we go... every time. The plate is well worth the four dollars and change and you can add a delicious milkshake for a dollar more. Best fast food joint around and the chicken quesadillas are delicious. read more

I usually don't have a problem with this cookout. Being a student at the local university I come here quite often. However, I have had 2 bad experiences in the last 3 months. The first bad experience I order a big double tray with ketchup, mustard, pickles, and cheese with 2 side orders of fries and huge sweet tea. When got my food I received a regular burger with ketchup only which is not what I order. Plus the tea was unsweet and had NO ice. The second bad experience was today, I once again ordered the same tray from the first time. When I received my burger it was a big double but it was only ketchup and pickles. I took my burger back and asked them to make a new one. Instead of making a fresh one, they took my old burger and just added cheese to it and still didn't add mustard to it. My bun was tore up from them opening it just to add cheese, and it was still wrong. However, with all that being said, I've been here several times and never had any other real big issues. read more

My favorite fast food place in Murfreesboro! I've had the burger, the chicken sandwich, and the spicy chicken sandwich. All were delicious. My only complaint is that the sides are a small portion but still for the plate at less than 5 bucks, i get pretty full. Especially when you get a milkshake. Their peanut butter milkshake is amazing! This is by far the worst establishment I've had the displeasure of visiting in the entire city of Murfreesboro. Once, I was given my food and it was burned black and, burned a hole through the cheap box they handed it to me in and it actually burned my leg when I sat it in my lap. They offered me a FREE MILKSHAKE to compensate, when I had already purchased a milkshake to begin with! I do NOT need TWO milkshakes. This was an incredible inconvenience, especially since I was trying to rush to get food before an ice storm. The microphone and speaker on the drivethrough are awfully terrible and a straight-up violation of the ear. The staff in general has no personality and says "my pleasure" like its the initiation for a cult; so obnoxious, so annoying, terrible business decision. I have NO DOUBT when i hear it they're told to say it after everything. The inside of the restaurant is not well lit, and it's dirty and dingy on a regular basis. To clean the area behind the front counter they just dump water all over the floor and mop it around. Eating inside the restaurant makes me feel dirty. The drivethrough lanes are terribly designed also and you can easily get stuck just trying to get out of the place as happened to my friend and I the last time I made the mistake of going to cook out for a quick bite to eat. Finally, the food. The food is any old greasy fast food, which is fine, but not at these prices. The only decent deal on the menu is the 5$ cook out tray which comes with a burger, two sides, and a drink. You can upgrade the drink to a milkshake for an extra charge. This is the only item I ever get because it's the only one remotely worth my money. One complaint I have is like mentioned above the food is often overcooked and the quesadillas (which is one of the sides I generally choose when I get the cook-out tray) will far too often have NO MEAT, just the cheap sauce and melted cheese. This place is cheap, quick and pretty tasty. Yes, you do get what you pay for but compared to places like McDonald's or Burger King, Cook Out is much better quality food, in my opinion. The "Cookout Tray" combo is surely the way to go. Choice of main meal (burger, chicken sandwich, etc) plus two sides (okay people a QUESADILLA as a side? Yes, please) and a drink. (Or shake which there are a plethora of for an also affordable price) The burger tastes like it was grilled in your backyard and there are a good amount of toppings to choose from. My fry portion was decent, worthy of the price overall. Cole slaw was surprisingly good, not too tart or drenched in mayo/vinegar. Service is mostly college students, of course, so I didn't have super high expectations on that but it was quick and friendly, albeit a little overwhelming with what seemed like 10 employees buzzing around the register station/kitchen entry. They also offer a good variety of fountain drinks, including the southern favorite Cheerwine. Overall, this place is definitely worth the money and they're open late very night (drive thru and lobby). read more
