We had a party and ordered BBQ beef and BBQ chicken. The food was delicious and we had more then enough to feed our group. The yum yum sauce and terriyaki sauce was so ono. I would rather have the sauce in a bottle though then in individual containers for a party....take up less space on the counter. The service was fast and friendly, despite the fact that they're training a new employee (and she did a great job). They have a wide selection of appetizers, entrées and drinks to choose from. I ordered the Aloha BBQ mix, the Spam Musubi and the crispy shrimp. The BBQ mix was amazing I had a nice sweet yet flavorful bite. The spam was delicious. The saltiness of the spam paired well with the sweetness of the rice. The shrimp had a nice crisp and it was very tasty in the Yum Yum sauce. The ambience of the restaurant was cozy and cute and had lots of Hawaiian decor. Had seating capacity for about 30 to 40 people. If I could give this place 10 stars, I would! It's got a pretty simple dining area, but the food was INCREDIBLE. The plate in the photo cost $14 and was easily enough for 2 meals. The food was all super flavorful...even the mac salad, which is often flavorless at many places. My visit to Aloha Express Hawaiian BBQ was awesome! Went to the counter, asked a couple of questions, and decided on the Chicken Katsu...I'm glad I did not get any appetizers. The meal they serve is HUGE and as you can see where I separated the chicken from the rice & pasta...there's a bunch of food. The chicken is moist and tender, with a crispy crunch from the breading. I dipped in the katsu sauce and what a combination...the sweet with the chicken was perfect. I really enjoyed this dish! The fried rice...cooked perfectly and plenty of it. The pasta salad is very interesting, and I knew immediately what made it different and special...the addition of tuna. I could not finish this meal and there was plenty to take home. Notice the cake counter...these are all made locally and look delicious...maybe next time. I met Jenny (one of the owners) who took my order and chatted with me a bit later on...very sweet lady and you can tell she is excited to bring this to Murfreesboro. My friend told me about this place awhile back but we didn't get to try it until just a few days ago. People were very friendly. Cute little restaurant for sure. We ordered a bunch of food just to try a little bit of everything and they were all pretty good. My favorite was definitely the BBQ chicken; flavorful and juicy. The musubis were good but they would be better if they had a bit more sauce and a bit less rice. I loved that they used chicken thighs for the chicken katsu, rather than the usual chicken breast. My wife is from Oahu, Hawaii and was skeptical about driving 24 miles to try this place out. But, since it was on the way to the Murfreesboro Costco it was worth a try before hitting Costco. This place is legit!! We ordered chicken katsu, Kalua pork, kalbi, and loco moco. All were as good as any we've had on the west coast or in Hawaii. The kalbi was meaty (not fatty) and tender. The katsu was cooked perfectly and not dry, and the Kalua pork was delicious. The place was busy at 1 PM on Sunday but the service was fast, efficient, and friendly. They even came around to ask how we were doing. Definitely have a touch of the aloha vibe. You must try this place if you are in the area. Prices are very reasonable for the portion sizes. Came here for lunch today and was greet by a friendly staff. I ordered the Kailua pork mini meal and my husband got the teriyaki chicken mini meal. The food was fresh, hot and tons of flavor with good quality of food. Price to portion ratio is good as well. We like to mix our rice with the macaroni salad and it was all delicious.
