We come hear periodically but lately it has been more frequently in the last 4 months. Our go to order is the Bama wrap with pork meal. Its packed with a good amount of moist pork, and then you get a good sized side which is usually the potato salad or mac & cheese and then the drink. I love Rick's BBQ today is the second time that I've been here anytime that I'm on this side of town I have to stop by Rick's barbecue this is now no longer an option. The inside is always clean the people are always friendly and the food is absolute perfection Southern BBQ perfection. The bathrooms are clean and the service is always with a smile. And unlike some barbecue places Rick's catering is actually affordable I looked at the prices even if you're buying a family pack meal it's still very much affordable. Once a local chain with a few stores, they appear to be down to one. Years ago I tried the food and it was good, but there was better closer to my home. Again, back in the day, I attended a conference where one of the participants was a relative of the owners, so she convinced us to go here. Both of these were in the days before I started reviewing. It was a good experience and I will be stopping by more often. The pork sandwich had moist meat and was served with traditional slaw and pickle. It was dry, and you added your own sauce, hot or mild, at the table. It was a very good sandwich. The combo with a side and a drink made for a nice lunch. There are many BBQ "joints" and they range in ambiance and service. There are less appealing dining rooms with great BBQ all the way to fancy eateries with high prices and poor BBQ. This fell into a nice middle niche. On entering, there was a line from the counter to the door, about 6 people, but it moved fast. Knowing what you wanted to order was a plus as it got you through the line and the person taking the order was up to increased tempo. Dining in means they bring the food to you, which is nice service. All the tables were real tables, not cheap rocky things, there was room to sit down and everything was clean. read more

There are way too many kids working in the back and the front. I ordered a pork sandwich and potato skins and waited 45 minutes while Watching people that waited half that time for more food. I was so mad I didn't check the bag and they left out a sandwich and cheese dip I ordered. Thought I would give the sit-down location a try. Our family frequented the drive-thru only location for years because it was close to home. It was always so good. This location is good as well but not quite as good as the other one. My loaded (pork) potato was filling and generous as usual but not quite as hot as I'm used to. The kids loved their food-ham and cheese sandwich and chicken tenders with fries. They actually both asked to return the next day to eat again. It wasn't overly busy at dinner but stayed steady. The customer service was great and definitely would be 5 star if rated separately. I still miss the other location but overall a good experience. The food is good. The place is clean. I don't like them putting up the chairs at 6p when they close at 7p- correct 7p, not 8p That makes the customer feel like they need to leave and anyone coming in, thinks they are closing early. To me- that is poor customer service. read more

Pretty darn good barbecue, the highlight of my entire meal was the pulled pork with white sauce and the mayo coleslaw both were outstandingly great. The mac & cheese was not the best ever but it was still really good. The regular ribs were a bit fatty for me but they were tasty. Absolutely Will return. This is a good barbecue restaurant. I've been here many times, and the food is always good. They always make a fresh batch of anything fried that you order. They have two very different types of potato salad, both of which are good. My favorite is the Baked Potato Salad.. the other one is a more traditional backyard style. Their sweet tea is always amazing. Their white BBQ sauce is also very very good! And they give you a fried hash brown and a pickle with any plate that you order. I literally drove a friend to the Kia dealership in Murfreesboro to pick up a little rubber piece. In this day and age, anytime you can accomplish something (no matter how small) you need to reward yourself. So I typed in "food near me" into the Google search on my phone and Rick's was 30 seconds away... and I was hungry (or so I thought). We headed in and it was clear that we might have hit pay dirt when there were several cars going through the drive through and the lot was pretty full. My friend ordered a pulled pork sandwich and I got a 2 meat plate.... It was like 29.00 for two meals with drinks and honestly, that seemed like a fair price for two for lunch. The first thing that hit me was the fruit tea. AMAZING! I was thinking about Mountain Dew or Lemonade, but something steered me towards the fruit tea. I would give a good review for just that fruit tea. No joke. Then they delivered our lunch. To say generous portions would be failing to communicate what showed up. I was able to eat 2/3 of the ribs and a small taste of the pulled pork, half of the potato salad and half of the macaroni and cheese. I had another meal to take home from what was left... and trust me, I didn't want to stop eating, I HAD to stop because I wouldn't have been able to drive home if I had finished the plate. The quality of food was excellent, I am already planning another trip down in a week or two.... But the compliments need to be extended to the team because they are friendly, courteous, professional and helpful.. and the ambiance of the little place is great. Their funny signs in the dining room and restrooms are enjoyable and snarky without being obnoxious or crass. I'm not a fan of bbq but my husband was craving for some southern bbq. He wanted to go to Whitt's, but he mistaken this location and we ended up at Rick's. I had the loaded baked potato because it looked so good on yelp pictures. Well whenever I received it, it didnt look or taste as great. So much stuff was missing from the potato. I also tried their fruit tea. Goooodness that stuff is sooo sweet. Like you're eating sugar. We had to throw that crap out! They're trying to give people diabetes!!!!! Worst customer service ever. Food is good. But family owned and they are bias about defending family without hearing the whole situation. I'm not saying don't eat here. But be very careful. I have health issues with pork and the put pork on a potato when I called. It was my fault because I said pork not bacon bits. I use to eat there at least once a week. But never again. The foods was terrible. Way to much salt on all meats, and ribs were like eating a piece of leather, with massive amounts of fat.

In spite of some negative reviews, I decided to give Rick's a shot with great hope some of their problems had been fixed. Let's start with the positive. The pork on my sandwich was tender and well-seasoned, eliminating the need for sauce. I had read their sandwich portion sizes were small, but mine had plenty of meat on it. I'm a big fan of potatoes, so I really enjoyed the tri-tater...basically a large tater tot in the shape of - you guessed it - a triangle. Now for the not so positive. The bottom part of my sandwich bun was a soaking wet, soggy mess. Inedible. My husband ordered a rib platter only to get home and discover he was given pulled pork instead. And the potato salad could have been purchased in any grocery store. I think with more attention to detail and focus on homemade sides, Rick's could be much better. In the South where bbq is so well-done by so many, the little things will make or break a restaurant. read more

Rick's Barbeque is similar to Whit's Barbeque in quality, vinegar-based flavor, and selection. I went there today because I noticed their sign that said they offered Garden Salads and wanted to see what that was like. It was as tasty as what you would think paying $5 for a salad with pork barbeque would be. Nothing fancy. Rick's Barbeque gets a deserving three stars from me because they were just okay. I picked up lunch for the family on Sunday which consisted of the "Picnic Pack" and some potato salad. It included 2lbs of pork BBQ, 12 buns, cole slaw (vinegar base) baked beans, and 1/2 a gallon of sweet tea all for $28.00. The pork was juicy and very similar to Whitt's (which is actually what I was looking for) while both the cole slaw and baked beans were just meh. Of course, that is always what I have found at these places so I wasn't disappointed or surprised. What was a surprise is how good their potato salad was! I have been to Rick's BBQ a handful of times. First off, I like the food. It seems reasonably priced and the portions have always been great. My problem is this: the staff. Each time I have visited it seemed to be burdensome for the staff to take my order. No smile whatsoever. No "welcome to Ricks" or "thank you have a great day". These people either have terrible attitudes because it is simply who they are, or it just must be a terrible place to work. I was initially impressed with the size of the sandwich when the server brought it out, but the was disappointed by the amount of meat on the sandwich. The fries were hot and tasty. Ok, Rick...the bbq is beyond crazy good. We live in Nashville and there are no Ricks. Ive been to two of them in MurryBurry, Tn and Ive kicked it at the Florence drive through at Ricks. Ive also seen the giant awesome factorys that produce the bbq. So just one question??? Why not Nashville. Im on my porch and drunk as heck at 129pm on a c19 saturday and we need some Ricks bbq...we all do..people need a Ricks on Charlotte Pike in West Nashville...it would be your busiest location because Id eat there three times a day and everyone would freak over it. I've been working in Murfreesboro for about 3 years and I pass this place at least twice a day. I never had the chance to stop by and check it out, but recently i decided to stop and give it a shot. I'm actually pleased by the barbeque. I've been to lots of barbeque joints in my lifetime, even have relatives who had barbeque restaurants of their own and i have to say it hits the spot. Arrived at a slow period of the day which is around 3pm on a week day. I tried the stuffed baked potato and the second time around i tried the barbeque nachos. Very well pleased with both.
