While my Yelp reviews are becoming fewer (old age and physical limitations)...I'm always very happy to give a shout-out to a true 5 Star business. Mission BBQ is exactly that. Stopped in for lunch today and was greeted enthusiastically and warmly by no fewer than 3 different courteous employees. I truly did feel welcome. Parking was a breeze - Handicap spots right outside the front door and plenty more in the spacious lot. Indoor and outdoor seating (a bit chilly today so I stayed inside.) Menu is large - both in readability (on wall behind cashier) and number of options. I was on the lookout for brisket - one of my faves, especially having been a cattle farmer for nearly 30 years.) Hands down, today's brisket was on top of the heap. And a generous heap of beef it was...4 tender, juicy, succulent, flavorful, black-crusted thick slices that spilled out over the edges of the bun. Didn't really need the bun...it was perfect on its own. And, yes, I'll order it again. Sides I ordered today were fairly common - fries that were hot and fresh out of the fryer and really savory baked beans (also loaded withs chunks of meat. Good golly! Wish I had time and room for more...but that will happen in the near future when I venture back to Murfreesboro. By the way, an announcement came over the music-laden speakers at noon, asking patrons to rise for their traditional 12:00 playing of the National Anthem. This is a reliable BBQ spot. The flavor has been consistent every time we have been. Probably the best all round BBQ spot in the Murfreesboro area. Service is always top notch. You only get 2 bones of ribs with a 2 meat platter if you choose one meat as ribs. Was a bit disappointed to see the smallest ribs when I got my tray. Would be nice if they at least cut the large ones or 2 bones worth of meat instead of 1. If you are there at 12 noon be prepared to stand for the national anthem. Very cool that they do that. First time here, and I was first in line literally standing outside like it was Black Friday, but for BBQ. You could smell the wood smoking from the parking lot, and that was enough to let me know I made the right decision. The staff? Super friendly. The place? Clean as a whistle. The crowd? Already lined up like it was a sold-out concert except we were all here to get our BBQ on lol. I went with the combo: pulled pork & brisket because why choose when you can have both? The smoke ring, the flavors, the tenderness this meat didn't just fall apart it practically melted. And the sauces? Absolute fire! Should've bought some, but I got distracted by the food... now I regret it. Lesson learned. Bottom line Mission BBQ delivers the goods, and I'd 100% come back for another round. I stopped for carryout and had the turkey sandwich with fries. The turkey was moist and had just the right amount of smokiness. Portions are large and I usually have some to eat after the sandwich. I was greeted with a smile and my order was taken promptly. The order was accurately assembled and packed for carryout. Will I wait there is plenty of memorabilia to peruse. Stumbled across this gem on our way from Denver to Orlando. We're not used to this southern hospitality in Colorado! The sides were delicious (we got the seasonal cheesy potatoes, baked beans and Mac n cheese), the turkey was juicy, the plethora of sauces was so fun! This is a chain restaurant but I couldn't tell. Highly recommend Mission BBQ! My brother in laws friend had suggested this place for a good bbq spot in Tennessee. Definitely did not disappoint! There's plenty of parking in their lot and we didn't have any issues with seating despite having a large party. Their pricing is quite affordable. I tried their pulled pork sandwich xl combo which comes with one side and a drink for around $13. Each table has a set of Mission BBQ sauces for you to try. Tupelo Honey Heat was a fav between my fiancé and I. Just the right amount of sweetness and smokiness for a BBQ sauce. I highly recommend the pulled pork sandwich, the meat was nice and tender. And their mac and cheese was the perfect side for my meal. Not too much cheese, which I prefer. They also offer a free dessert for veterans! My fiancé is in the Army, a few other guests in our party were veterans and they gave them all a free strawberry shortcake dessert, I thought that was so sweet! I didn't try the dessert but my fiancé said it was good! I love that mission BBQ is big on military and veterans. The whole place is decorated with old military pictures and different memorabilia everywhere. They even have an old military truck parked out front of every location! Here's my advice if you like really bland food with absolutely no flavor whatsoever you should eat here. The food is very expensive and not even good. They don't have any explanations on what the food is so you could order something and you don't even know what it is. The people were nice kind of they should just work on their attitudes we ordered something(we hadn't finished our order yet) and then we decided to change it. The guy that was already making the UNorderd food got mad for us changing the order and he made a stinky face at us. Other than that the lady that took our order was nice. The place was pretty empty not a lot of people (the first sign that it was bad but we didn't pay attention) so it was quiet. Overall I would say it isn't really worth it. A great seasoning that is it done in 20 minutes. Yep it takes hours to prep that meat and wow when it's out to eat it don't need. Nice tables with state plates encased in them and hard seat booths . Mix of bottled soda s highly suggest. Soda fountain lack flavor mix but the brownie is ok. Just needs some frosting options . Staff is just warm and fuzzy as you want in a place that says we welcome you and thanks for doing them stressful career jobs that take skills and guts. The bathrooms are fun too. Those who have served in military get , but really and up beat place and music is very American. Country and a speck of adult rock. My friend and I came here after getting a hair cut nearby. We both felt like BBQ and found this place nearby. When seeking BBQ, I always for for the ribs. They had traditional ribs and baby backs. The baby back were recommended, so I went with those. Though not the best I've had, definitely above the average. I asked for a dry rub with the sauce on the side. The half slack was filling without the side. As a side, I asked for Macaroni, which I didn't like. Based on the ribs alone, I would give this restaurant 4 stars. However, the following took place which made their customer service experience above what I've seen in other places that pushed this to a 5 star review. We regularly had a staff member come by and ask us if our meal was good or if we needed anything. As our food was consumed, we were offered to have our plates removed. The waitress (might have been the manager, I am not sure) noticed that I didn't touch my Macaroni. She asked me if there was something wrong with it and I simply said I didn't like it. She offered to get me a different side to try at no additional cost because I had already paid for a side and she wanted me to leave with a side I enjoyed to go. The other thing to note is that, we were there just before noon. As soon as it was noon, a PA system alerted customers to stand up and face the center flag in honor of our veterans. Everyone stood up as we listened to the Start Spangled Banner. That was quite a site to see. The announcer mentioned that this is a daily routine at 12 noon, so be prepared for that if you go around that time. read more

The selections are easy to comprehend and written out well. Ordering is simple and the clerks are friendly. The food came out quickly and was quite tasty. There were a nice selection of bbq sauces to choose from and the soda machines had solid choices. The best part was the woman that came around and asked if any of us were veterans and when one said yes, he was offered a free strawberry shortcake. It was simple but a very pleasant. Later, a beautiful young woman came around with a free pan of fires and asked if we wanted some freedom fries. I had the 2 meat combo, pulled pork and brisket, along with baked beans and slaw. Everything was delicious and their sweet tea is perfect. The brisket was incredibly tender and flavorful. The pulled pork wasn't dry like other BBQ places. Both meats had exactly the right amount of smoke flavor. The selection of sauces complemented the meats perfectly. The only complaint was the small portion sizes. My daughter got the kids pork BBQ slider and the amount of meat was tiny, even for a kid's serving. She ate all of the pork in a few bites and we had to give her some of ours. My serving was about a quarter pound of pulled pork and quarter of brisket. They have a very nice selection of sauces and their specials are often don't miss items. They make a very good iced tea and unsweet iced tea, which is a plus for me. There is a lot to enjoy. They even give veterans a free dessert. And they will thank you for your service. I love the decor, which includes nostalgic items from different military branches. I'm told some of the decor is locally donated. It gives a nice, authentic touch. The premises is kept quite clean. They take a lot of pride in their restaurant. The prices are OK. Loved it. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I walked into the place, and it was lively. Very short wait to give my order. I order the 3-meat sampler. I got brisket, turkey, and sausage. I ordered a side of mac & cheese. Brisket - got the fatty or moist (Point). It was incredibly tender and juicy. The flavor was good but not unique. I prefer a little more smoke but was overall completely satisfied. Turkey - also very tender and juicy and worth ordering. Jalapeno cheese smoked sausage - liked this. After the brisket, this was my favorite. Although not the best bbq meat I've had, it's above average and is a great place. I thoroughly recommend it. read more

To top it all off we had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Leslie who catered to us to no end. (she needs a raise!!!) She brought us a basket of freedoms fries to try along with their delicious cherry cheese cake dessert as a free accommodation that is usually reserved for veterans!
