0/5 Stars. I walked in looking for a cheap drink (the place looked run down so I just assumed) while I do some work on my laptop before going to meet up with some friends elsewhere. I pulled out my laptop upon arriving to a table to let it charge before I ordered a drink because I saw the bar was busy and the owner, a short, stalky woman began to shout across the bar. I took out my earbuds to see who she was talking to and she began questioning me as if I were some low life criminal. "Who are you?" "What are you doing here?" I told her "I'm Davíd, I want to charge my laptop before I order a drink. She said "IM THE OWNER!" "YOU HAVE TO ASK!" I simply told her I'm a customer and from there she became unbearable. Saying things that didn't make sense. I didn't deserve any of this whatsoever. I don't know if it's because I'm darker-skinned, more so than anyone else in the bar or if she was looking for a problem, but regardless, I didn't have time for it. One of the last great Greenpoint neighborhood pubs. A safe space for locals as well as newcomers. Patrons from 21 years old to 81 years old are usually engaged in gregarious banter while sitting at the bar. Pool table, darts, video games and seasonal decorations are a plus. Also a big thanks for using your security videos to identify the person who spray painted swastikas in Greenpoint Not sure what some of the other reviews are talking about as the women's bathroom is clearly marked and some of the female bartenders girlfriends are patrons. read more

IF YOU'RE GAY OR HAVE GAY FRIENDS DON'T EVEN THINK OF GOING HERE. Unfortunately, it seems like this bar has taken a turn for the worse. I've been going here occasionally for several years, and as everyone else has noticed, the locals tend to give you the cold shoulder if you're under 40 and not/or not a born and raised local. That being said, they've always been pretty reasonable once you settle in. That was until my birthday this year, April 5th. I showed up with 3 friends, all of us gay, and not only were we refused service at the bar, but my friends and I were verbally accosted by several of the bar patrons. The word "Faggot" was thrown around multiple times. This is definitely not a safe space for the LGBT community, and I will not be going back. If you want a local dive bard that has cheap drinks and gay friendly atmosphere, check out the Palace around the corner on Nassau. read more

I would give this place zero stars if I could. If youre not old, white, miserable and from the neighborhood, you're gonna have a terrible time at this dump. The bartenders only cater to regulars and will be very rude to you if you're new. I tried using their single person bathroom and was told it was for women only when there was no sign and the only bathroom in this sewage pit with a lock on it. Me and my friends were dancing to the music we put on the jukebox and were glanced at the whole night by the regulars. You can feel the prejudice hit you as soon as you walk in. It is a regular bar for regular people and no particular schtick or arty flair at all. Grill out back for anyone to use. Cheap CHEAP drinks and staff who are neighborhood natives. Hipsters get the cold shoulder by the regulars which provides an oasis for those who are burned out on entourages of loud vapid brunchers and other useless people. One of the ways that Yelp is helpful to me is when I see horrible reviews of a place posted by people that I suspect I would rather dislike. Dive bar. Football. Cheap beer. I've been walking by this place for a month or two now and have never stopped in until today. My buddy and I went to watch some football (he's a Bills fan, I like the Broncos) and they did us right, and let us watch both of our games. Buy-backs after three beers. A little kid, there with his parents while they played pool, served us free hamburgers and hotdogs. One of the old-lady bartenders told me to take a Xanax because I was shouting at the TV screen, but otherwise no one noticed my yelling. Don't come here, it's my bar. read more

This place is a shithole and a joke filled with old prejudice white folks. They only cater to regulars and treated my group of friends terribly. I was in a mixed group of friends, we were buying top shelf all night + tipping and using their jukebox. We were getting ugly stares all night as we were singing and dancing amongst ourselves. Eventually they kicked us out because one of my friends was kicked one for using the wrong bathroom. He used the single stall female bathroom because the mens does not have a lock. The bartender began yelling nonsense at him, despite his efforts to resolve the situation. The argument got heated and we left the bar as we didn't want to indulge in the nonsense. When you walk into a bar for the first time, your initial reaction shouldn't be "what the fuck?"

Caters only to regulars! My friends and I (a group of 7 in total) went and were ordering top shelf all night tipping after every drink even though we were just getting shots and even spending music on their juke box. The whole time we were getting stares by their old regular customers who are not used to the idea of fun. Owner got mad one of our friends took a shit and told him to lysol it which we did and then the customers started to yell at him also. Never have I ever been to a bar where they yell at you for using the restroom as intended. Only go here if you are rotting away and don't care about your money. read more

This bar flat out rules. No you wont pick up chicks and no there aren't bartenders wearing slutty outfits. You come here to get drunk, smoke cigarettes, do a little light gambling, and sit at the bar. Really cheap beers, nice smoking patio, blue collar vibes with friendly bartenders. UNACCEPTABLE (wish I could give zero stars but y'all know that's not how Yelp works) I suppose the bar itself is fine but if you or anyone in your party is a human and cares about human rights and equality - don't waste your time or hard-earned money at this disgraceful spot. I'm ashamed an establishment like this exists at all, and in Brooklyn, NY no less! I came in with a group of friends, two of which are a gay couple, and we were kicked out for no reason other than the regular bigot at the bar felt uncomfortable. That's right, WE WERE KICKED OUT BECAUSE MY FRIEND IS GAY. I understand if my friends had been PDAing all over that place it would've been awkward and maybe disrespectful but that was not the case at all. We were there just hanging out, drinking a pitcher of beer, playing darts and then the old woman at the bar started actually yelling slurs at my friends. The bartender then asked us to go and when one friend showed a bit of resistance, asking for an explanation, the bartender started cursing at us. It was all very aggressive and honestly just scary. I went to a concert in bk with a few friends, and we found Connie O's. We had a blast in that place it was like 2 in the afternoon and just full of regulars. We got hammed. Great prices and nice ppl.
