Randy seems like a very nice guy but their customer service is horrible. They are highly disorganized--never calling you back when promised, never getting work done unless pressed. They seem too understaffed to handle their business and source their parts from highly unreliable suppliers--at least in my particular case. I hate to bad-mouth local businesses--especially one owned by such a nice guy--but Computer Exchange needs a major overhaul in the way the business is run before I recommend it to anyone again. read more

Terrible experience and took my money!! If it were possible, I would not give 1 Star. They don't deserve 1 Star as a rating after the experience I have been through. Computer Exchange had my laptop for almost a month for a cracked screen. They called and said it would not turn on and needed a motherboard as well. It didn't have that problem when I dropped it off, however I agreed. When I was told I could pick it up, I took it home and the touchscreen didn't work. I had Branbleton Computers fix it and the reason it would not work is because they put in a different computer's touchscreen. They installed a DELL and I don't even own a DELL laptop! I tried to resolve the issue before going to Brambleton Computer and the owner would not refund my money. He became angry with me! Unfortunately, I have spent as much fixing my laptop, as it is worth and this is going to court. read more

October 2018 I needed a new power supply for the pc that was being built for me as an anniversary present. I called the store before going and asked for a particular wattage which I was told they had in stock. I drove a half hour to get to Computer Exchange. When I got there they pulled a bait and switch on me, telling me that they had a lower wattage and not the one I had called about. Needless to say I got angry because they wasted my time, my gas and my patience. On top of that I wasn't even offered an apology. I hope they learn that bait and switch is illegal before someone sues them! Before Randy retired I had been doing business with his store for over 15 years. I even remembered that one of the new owners had worked summers there. I think Randy would be appalled about how the new owners are treating, in my case, a now long term former customer. These new guys have to be the last pc store in the Roanoke Valley before I go back there. read more

I took my computer in for repairs. Was convinced I'd be better off purchasing one of their used computers for some $179.00. Brought it home, found it filled with dust, as if it had set in the back room for many months. Had several XP-related problems with it as well. Was told they'd upgrade it to Win7 for $25.00. A death in my family put the computer on the back burner for a few months. Took it in in May. Was told the upgrade would be some $165.00. For $344.00, I could have purchased a new computer elsewhere. I told them that was NOT what I was told, and a heated discussion ensued. Owner said, "Give me a couple weeks" agreed to upgrade to Win7 for $65.00. I said no hurry, take your time. A heart attack and rehab delayed my getting back in touch (but gave them plenty of time for the upgrade!) Went in last week, and he couldn't find the computer (but offered to sell me another used computer!). Owner held up three fingers and said, "We call the customer three times to come pick up their computer" as some form of lame excuse. I told them: "Apparently the work wasn't done, because I never received ANY calls from you!" Was told, "Give me til Wednesday. I'll find it." Wednesday: "Call back in a couple days." Friday: "Owner's out today. I'll call you back." No call. Overall, this has been the WORST experience I have ever had with any company. At this point, a full refund of the purchase price would be the fair thing to do. Instead, the POS computer I purchased, and they "lost," was replaced by a worse POS you could find on eBay for $75.00. I would NEVER do business with Computer Exchange again, not would I recommend them to anyone. read more

We have bought a few computers from them over the years. The last one we bought the hard drive failed just after 6 months. They said it was due to a virus, but I had current protection so I think that was just a convenient excuse. They would not warranty it. I had to pay them an additional $100 to get a new hard drive installed. I felt like we got ripped off. I won't buy another pc from them since they didn't stand behind it. read more
