Last year, I came because my laptop had suddenly gone dead. I believe Eric was the one given the task of repairing it. He came to the conclusion that the hard drive had died. Instead of contacting me to discuss options, he just went ahead and installed a new drive with no go-ahead from me. When I called after many days to find out what was happening because I had had no call in regard to its progress, he informed me that the drive was dead and that he could not recover any of the data from the old drive. When he realized that I was very upset, then he half-heartedly said he was sorry. I did not believe him. Some efforts were then made to recover the lost data, but I was then told that there had been no success in getting any back. Recently, I was having troubles again with the computer going dead. I was told that the charger cable was defective and purchased a new one. This worked for a few days, then the laptop died again. I brought it to Wintel for testing; Eric called the next day to say that it was working again. When I picked it up, he yelled from the back that I should make sure to charge it. HOW STUPID DOES HE THINK I AM??? Of course I charge it; it is plugged in all the time!! But he was obviously not interested in exploring exactly why the laptop had died again or in explaining what had caused it to die again, or in educating me properly about my laptop - all he wanted to do was charge me $40.00 for recharging it!! What highway robbery!! I then took the laptop to another repair shop, and they saw immediately that the charger was not the right wattage for my laptop - it had half the strength that it was supposed to have. Since I got the right charger, the laptop has worked fine, no thanks to Eric or Wintel. Other reviews on their site are positive; of course, who knows who wrote those reviews?

The owner Glen, is a super chill guy, he practically lives here with his shop hours being so broad. This is his retirement hobby, from being a computer engineer, so he really seems to know a lot and is not pushy or trying to sell me more than I needed. I had dropped my all in one HP computer while it was running, onto my leg and it broke it inside. He said it would take 1-2 days to figured out if the problem was 1 of 2 things. Software reinstall was $89 plus tax(which ended up being my issue) or a hardware fix being south of $200. The shop sits right off of Yonge st just a walk north of Major Mackenzie, it's mainly street parking unless you park behind the plaza or the church. I drive by here often and have never noticed this place, but it's been here for years.

The one thing that sets this store apart from the others in the area is the fact that Andy is able to repair major issues (motherboard failure, broken screen, etc.) and diagnose them as opposed to replacing it right away like the other stores do. I had such a pleasant experience. I needed a new motherboard and they sourced one for me and had it installed in a reasonable time frame and made sure I was happy with the choice of part before installing it. The price was reasonable and the work honest. Which isn't always easy to find in repair shops. I would totally recommend their services. Cheaper doesn't always mean good service. Parts and labour is not easy or cheap. Especially on some computers the labour is intense. I would know usually I'm doing the labour and it's not easy! If you want good honest work, for sure check these guys out. They've been around for many many years and as I understand from the owner they have over 15 years of experience. So you are in great hands. Oh and I brought a 2010 iMac unibody to them for reference. And it came back super clean, not a singe scratch or finger print on my screen (which I'm always worried about) and running without any glitches. He was able to transfer my files to a new refurbished laptop and have it back to me within the day. Unfortunately, some of my files didn't get transferred over, so I went back, and again. At first Eduardo couldn't locate my files, but with persistence and some detective work found my files in an unusual file location. He was able to recover the files (7 years of work, consisting of 120 GB). what a relief. I recommend IGS with 100% confidence they can resolve your issues, or outfit you with a refurbished computer.
