I have come to Wintel Computers several times over the past couple of years and have decided that I will not be using their services any longer. Last year, I came because my laptop had suddenly gone dead. I believe Eric was the one given the task of repairing it. He came to the conclusion that the hard drive had died. Instead of contacting me to discuss options, he just went ahead and installed a new drive with no go-ahead from me.
When I called after many days to find out what was happening because I had had no call in regard to its progress, he informed me that the drive was dead and that he could not recover any of the data from the old drive. When he realized that I was very upset, then he half-heartedly said he was sorry. I did not believe him.
Some efforts were then made to recover the lost data, but I was then told that there had been no success in getting any back.
Recently, I was having troubles again with the computer going dead. I was told that the charger cable was defective and purchased a new one. This worked for a few days, then the laptop died again. I brought it to Wintel for testing; Eric called the next day to say that it was working again. When I picked it up, he yelled from the back that I should make sure to charge it. HOW STUPID DOES HE THINK I AM??? Of course I charge it; it is plugged in all the time!! But he was obviously not interested in exploring exactly why the laptop had died again or in explaining what had caused it to die again, or in educating me properly about my laptop - all he wanted to do was charge me $40.00 for recharging it!! What highway robbery!!
I then took the laptop to another repair shop, and they saw immediately that the charger was not the right wattage for my laptop - it had half the strength that it was supposed to have. Since I got the right charger, the laptop has worked fine, no thanks to Eric or Wintel.
