    Loved the Not-A-Colata.
    Erin W.

Wow! We went a little out of the way to come here but it was totally worth it. We both got the breakfast Nordic waffles that came stuffed with egg, cheddar, and turkey bacon. The food is homemade so it takes a little longer but worth the wait. They were so delicious; like I'm probably going to dream about them. I also had a latte that was infused with their homemade lavender flavoring, which was fabulous. My bf had the Not-A-Colada, which I wanted to steal from him because it was so fresh and tasty. Also, I can't say enough about the friendly service. Such a neat spot, too, because the place is huge with several cozy nooks. Prices were great. Loved everything about it. Can't rave enough. Side note: it did look kind of dark as we drove by, so we were afraid it wasn't open...don't let that fool you!

    Such a thing of beauty!

The Nordic Waffles are amazing! I've tried both the Nutella & 7 layer bar - can you say taste of paradise!?! Love this locally owned place that has a kid's play area, comfy couches & friendly staff.

Umm coolest place ever!? Tons of awesome drinks, nummy baked goodies, salads, food, little homemade items for sale,... oh and a kids play area with a castle, slide, and other play things! Board games for the big kids (and adults) too! Super nice welcoming staff too!!!

Pastry selection (late morning, the first Saturday they were open)

I've been seeing neighbors comment on this new coffee shop in the Nextdoor app since it opened a few days ago, and all of the reviews were very positive, so I had to check it out! I got a cold brew for my husband and a ginger chai for myself (both iced). The prices were very reasonable, and we're both very happy with our drinks! I didn't stay, but there were numerous tables and chairs near the ordering area and then a separate area with couches and chairs beyond the bathrooms. The space was very clean and bright! I didn't take a picture of the beverage menu, but it seemed like standard coffeehouse fare (with a few specialties, like the ginger chai). Based on the tea selection, I think they get it from Tea Source, which is a favorite of mine! I did take pictures of the pastries and food menu, which I will post shortly... I'm excited to try some of the sandwiches :-)

    Coffee and conversation!

They must change the menu because we were here last year (Feb 2025) and not much on the menu appealed to me. But this year they were lots of things I wanted to try. I'm late in posting my review. It's always good food and service. And I'm sure we'll go again next year after our Annual Seminar.

If you don't like sitting in the sun , consider asking for a table instead or away from the windows. Food 5/5: we got the brussels sprouts and shrimp bowl. I loved the maple sauce with the goat cheese on the sprouts! It's definitely different than the soy type sauces other places are doing, and brought the perfect salty sweet combination. The shrimp bowl is my go to here, and was great. The sauce with the shrimp, avocado, veggies and rice is a great balance of flavor. Service 5/5: our server was very attentive and the food came quickly. Ambiance 5/5: this place has an upscale cozy vibe. It is on the smaller side, so tables are somewhat close, but not too close. I ordered the Monte Crisco from the specialty menu and grabbed a caramel roll to go. The sandwich itself was solid--crispy outside, warm and savory inside--definitely enjoyable. The caramel roll, however, didn't live up to the reputation. It was surprisingly dry. That said, the icing was delicious and had great flavor, but it couldn't quite save the overall texture. Unfortunately, what really ruined the experience for me happened after we finished eating. While chatting with my friend at the table, I watched a mouse scurry right past us and disappear into a crack in one of the booth seats. It was quick, but not quick enough to miss. I get that things happen in the restaurant world--it's not always easy to control pests--but this mouse looked very familiar with the layout, like it had done this routine before. I was immediately grateful that my leftovers were already packed, and we made a beeline straight for the exit. No matter how good the food is, something like that leaves a lasting impression... and not a good one.

And while the crowd might trend older, these people have aged gracefully, maintaining a sense of cool. The story behind Crooners is fantastic. A former teacher, the woman owner made money building health facilities. She fell in love with a piano man on a cruise and built Crooners as a testament to her loving spouse. Sadly, her husband passed away before Crooners came to fruition. Her philanthropic work for developing countries and the indigent is well documented. She has a big heart. This was our first time at Crooners, and to test the waters, we drove up the Sunday evening of Memorial Day weekend to enjoy a R & B lounge singer in the free Maggie's Piano Lounge. While the sightlines at Maggie's are ridiculous (it's used as a holding pen for the bigger venues, and the patrons coming and going block your view), we had a great time. Dave, the vigilant and hard-working manager for all of Crooners, also acts as publicist, and was kind enough to show us the other venues. There isn't a bad seat in the house. Marci was our server, and she covers the rooms like a safety on a football field. How she knows when everyone is ready for another drink, to order, or for the check is magical. The food was good, and the menu covers all tastes. We enjoyed Crooners and will return when the performer matches our taste. Knowing what to expect helps. The Minneapolis metro area is fortunate to have a music venue that caters to music lovers outside the mainstream. Go and support Crooners. You'll enjoy yourself.

The restaurant itself is really beautiful and it's also very big. I guessed 200 seats plus patio. The space is very elegant, and clearly a lot of attention went into the design. I would describe it as kind of modern steakhouse vibe. Dark wood, faux fur and leather finishes, etc. Elegant. We were seated at a booth by the bar with a big window view of the patio and parking lot. We were immediately slightly offput because the marble ledge separating the booth from the window was dirty - grease and little food crumbs. Not the best first impression. The booth and table were both clean though. Our waitress, Ash, did provide good service but I would say honestly she was a bit too attentive if that makes sense, and she was also too chatty for us. There were several times when she lingered at our table to tell us something we didn't inquire about or to just talk about something. It was a bit annoying honestly. But the service itself was good. We were also visited by a manager during our visit. We each got a mocktail (it was lunch) but they have an impressive drink menu. I got the Red Rose which was really tasty, and my husband got the pineapple drink, which he also said was good. -We ordered the chimichuri shrimp appetizer, which was pretty banging. Four really large shrimp, each on its own piece of bruschetta, doused in chimichuri sauce. Even for me, with a low spice tolerance, it was just the right amount of spice and it was really really good. -We also got a round of oysters. The oysters themselves were fresh - no complaints there. When they were delivered to our table, the person did not tell us which variety was which (pretty standard when serving oysters at any restaurant). Because we eat oysters a lot and one of the varieties was sweet petite, it was fairly easy to tell which was which. But in my opinion, there should have been information given when the oysters were served. The other big issue was the shucking. Some of the oysters hadn't been fully separated from the shell, and we both found ourselves picking bits of shell from our mouths. We actually had a little discussion about the $6 price tag. I felt it was reasonable, my husband felt it was high. But for $6 apiece, the oysters need to be shucked properly and these were not. Ash also made a point to tell us all kinds of information we didn't ask for about their happy hour, which includes $3 oysters. That would be a steal if they learn how to shuck them. -I got the half french dip sandwich, and I was really glad I just ordered the half because what I was served was totally a whole sandwich in my book. The accompanying fries were delicious, crispy, deep golden brown and hot. The au jus served with the sandwich was slightly on the salty side but not terrible. And I do realize it's au jus. In all it was a pretty decent sandwich. -Hubby got the sea bass sandwich, which was also pretty tasty. I'll be honest and say that I think the entree sea bass would have been better. The fish was so good that I don't honestly think you needed the bun. But it was really good and fresh and delicious. We skipped dessert. In all, a pretty solid dining experience and the food was very good. But it was the minor things mentioned that bothered us, so 3 stars with room for improvement upon our return.
