This place is my healthy stop every time I'm on my way to Banff. The first time we stopped for breakfast and I tried the Apple Berry Crumble Parfait and Mr. H had the Big Breakfast bowl. Both were amazing! Next time we stopped for lunch and I tried the Pad Thai with Chicken and it was great, but also very filling. So if you have a small appetite I might recommend splitting it along with a small app. Mr. H had the Mega Fresh Bowl which he loved. I had a Chai Latte which i thought was okay (not strong enough for me) but we also tried the Cream of Earl Grey and it was so good that I bought a packet back home and am running dangerously close to finishing it (it's only been three days since I got it!). I came in for a latte, and spent 10 minutes in frustration There was only one customer ahead of me, and the girl taking the order was more concerned about her hikes then she was about serving customers. When it finally became my turn and I ordered a latte she did not inform me of the milk choice I asked for was not available. While I waited for my latte, not knowing it would be incorrect, the customer ahead of me also received an incorrect order. I think it's important to have somebody taking the orders who is customer conscious, and has a command of the language This could've been overlooked, except that when I mentioned it to the girl handing out the latte she simply said this is what we have! I suggested it might be prudent to let your customers know ahead of time they don't have a milk choice that you have requested Lots of space to sit inside and yet nobody is allowed, tables could be easily 12 feet apart let alone six. It would be nice to let elderly, and those who have difficulty moving to have the choice to just stay inside as opposed to going up and down the stairs to sit outside. Ahhh so good! I was PUMPED to try this place and it did not disappoint. You know it's going to be good when the line is almost out the door! I ordered a tofu burrito with chips and salsa and it was awesome! Their salsa is actually really good. It was fresh and flavorful. Tofu in the burrito was good too. Delicious healthy eats located in Canmore. Vegan breakfast burrito was pretty good and stays well if you need to pack it for later. Actually might have been better after the flavors marinated for a few hours... Nori wrap was fresh and tasty, and that tahini sauce is amazing. Skip the breakfast panini -- mostly just bread, not enough real ingredients inside. Their portion sizes are probably too small for those with healthy appetites. Maple latte needed a richer maple flavor, but overall a very good latte. Their stuff is overall a little pricey, but this was the best place we found in Canmore that was this eco-green hippie fresh healthy eating type of cuisine. Visited Communitea on a cool fall day between a friend's wedding ceremony and reception. We were looking for a warm cozy place to have a coffee and lunch - this cafe fulfilled all of our expectations! So many vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options - which is definitely important to us. You order at the till and the barista brings out your food and drinks. The room is bright and airy but still has a cozy feel about it. A chocked full dining room is a testament to the quality of the food here. I had the mountain veggie wrap with a side of the coconut tomato soup. Both were OUTSTANDING! The description of the wrap seemed a little lacklustre but it was full of flavour and lots of good crunch while still being healthy and vegan. My husband had the Thai coconut curry. It was tasty enough and filled up the belly, but not to be remembered or recommended. Chai latte and flat white were good. I've lived in Southern California and was spoiled by endless amounts of Thai restaurants. When I saw the menu here I was a bit intrigued. First of all the restaurant is very spatious and has plenty of seating. They also sell a bunch of unique tea flavors, like lemon meringue pie! Even in jars and bags if you want to make some of your own tea at home. You basically order at the register and choose your own seating. Food did take a little longer to come to us, around 15-20 minutes. It probably would've made the wait seem a little less long if me or my friend had ordered some tea to just sit and enjoy. I ordered the Pad Thai, because that's just what I always order every time I go to a Thai restaurant (even though this isn't a Thai restaurant). Don't expect it to taste like your traditional pad Thai! They have an interesting but good twist to it. It kind of tasted like a fusion of Dan dan noodles and Pad thai. They use peanut sauce which adds a thick and slightly heavier texture to the dish. It has a hint of the trademark Pad Thai taste as well but with the texture of Dan dan noodles. I actually liked it quite a bit. My friend ordered the Dragon Bowl which was surprisingly delicious. It had a mixture of vegetables with rice which all had a taste of Thai Green Curry. So if you want to eat something light that makes you feel healthy and good about yourself but with the taste of amazing Thai Green Curry, I definitely recommend this dish. Their take on Asian dishes can seem a bit strange, but there's definitely a lot of thought put into it, and it's delicious. All in all, a great place to eat. We walked by this restaurant while visiting Canmore and saw that they use Intelligentsia beans for their coffee so we checked it out the next morning. Very glad we did! We wound up going here every morning for the rest of our stay. The staff is very friendly although this is not the place to visit if you are in a hurry, particularly if you order food. Their regular lattes are really good but their maple latte is excellent. You don't need to add sugar and it's not too sweet. They made the best coffee I had in the Rockies during my stay. As for the food, we only had breakfast here but the Green Eggs and Ham panini is fabulous. Scrambled eggs, pesto, ham, cheddar, tomatoes and spinach...a great way to start the day before hiking. It's a very nice space and I would be here often (if not every day) if I lived in the area. The only thing I was not a fan of is their hours; they don't open until 9 am and they close at 4 pm during the week and 5 pm on the weekends. read more

My wife and I were looking for a place that offered healthy food choices. So, we ordered from this place twice (once for dine-in and once for takeout) Good: -Prices were fair -Food was good Bad: -Took over 20 minutes to get our meals -Customer Service I want to expand on the customer service. The customer service was horrible here. When asking for explanations on their menu items, they seemed to do it with an attitude and arrogance. When asking for certain items, they would do it with a sense of annoyance. The employees need to re-train on how to treat customers with courtesy. Customers pay money for good customer service. If employees have trouble doing that, they're in the wrong business. read more

I had the gluten free quesadilla and it tasted incredible. Others at our table tried the sandwhiches, the bowls, and the salads. We all enjoyed our food for the most part. There is a lot of seating including outdoor seating. Parking is great and easy to walk to from the bike racks. Service was okay. You stand in line and order your food, and someone brings it to you. I can't believe I've never been to this hidden gem in Canmore! I guess I never walked off the main drag, and therefore never had the chance to stumble upon such a great corner cafe. The art on the walls was beautiful, and the vibe was very relaxed, with a wide variety of families, outdoors men, and tourists. The tables are very bunched together to allow more room for people, it made it somewhat difficult to get in and out, but not a big issue. I ordered the children's quesadilla and a peppermint green tea and both were very delicious. The chicken in the quesadilla was real chicken, and the tea was flavorful and soothing. I will definitely be back again soon to try out more menu items such as their bowls, and to sample some more of their fantastic teas! read more

We stopped here for breakfast by recommendation of a concierge from our hotel. We arrived pretty early and were the only ones there. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I ordered the rise and shine panini and the rest of my family ordered scrambled eggs, breakfast burrito, and the pacific avocado toast. We also ordered coffee, tea (divine temple green & jasmine green), and some baked goods. As we waited for our food, more and more people began to show up ad I could tell this place would be busy throughout the day. Finally our food showed up. Reviews for cafe establishments are odd. Are you reviewing the food? The drinks? The Location? For instance, I've given Remedy Cafe in Edmonton a five star review, despite their service of three star (at best) food. But I'm a fan of the chai and the atmosphere, and that's why I go there. We went to Communitea Cafe after a few days in the woods. We had been hoping to get a whole lotta poutine at La Belle Patate, which happened to be closed when we desired it. So we looked on the trusty Yelp app and decided on this place. And while the cafe was buzzing with mothers in yoga pants and babies in tow, and the decor was pleasant, the food left me wanting more. I understand that Communitea probably wants to emphasize health more than anything, but my "bowl of the day" didn't fill me up. The ground bison, and the dish on the whole were a bit too dry, and the flavor was very much one-note. And Sarah was disappointed in her vegetable quesadilla as it too lacked flavour and did not fill her up. I liked the concept here more than I liked the execution. We woke up early today, thanks to the time change, and we decided instead of waiting until 10am -- when all of the breakfast joints around our place open -- we drove to Canmore for some brunch. I heard good things about Communitea and also found out that they carry delcious gluten-free goods. It was easy to find too, though Canmore isn't that big! We both ordered the Classic Breakfast Panini with a gluten-free rice wrap. It had scrambled eggs, tomato, avocado, hummus, and lettuce -- and probably more that I can't remember. Yum! The coffee was great too -- after we wandered around the town for a couple of hours we went back and grabbed a couple lattes for the road. My husband got a Maple Latte! Amazingly delicious. I would definitely take the time to drive out to Canmore again for breakfast or perhaps tryout their lunch/dinner menu. We also found out that they host live music including some pretty big acts including Cuff the Duke, Jason Collett, and The Good Lovelies! Impressive. Surely giving the Canmore Hotel a run for their money. Also, beautiful spacious modern space with really friendly staff. It's almost dangerous having Communitea a five minute walk from my place. It's a fun, open, naturally lit spot with a great selection of teas and yummy plates for lunch. The selection of artists they have play there is fantastic. The people working there consistently ask how your day is, and really genuinely mean it. I may actually have gone here on a couple occasions when feeling not particularly my best and left feeling oh so happy because of the friendly service, the bright atmosphere and the tastiness. Oh! I love visiting Communitea when I come to Canmore. I've tried a number of their drinks - all are excellent. In my opinion, lattes are graded by how much sugar I need to add to make it taste good. At Communitea, I don't need to add sugar - that means it's a GOOD latte. The food is also awesome... I've tried a quinoa salad that was very tasty. The menu is ever-changing and has really unique items. My only comment is that the food might be a little pricey for my liking. So it's a once-in-a-while kind of occurrence rather than every time I go there. They also have live music some evenings, which I've never managed to hit up - need to rectify this. Usually you would never catch me at a place that sells a side order of quinoa or offers you a bowl of sprouts and calls it a salad, but there's something about this place that takes the stereotypical "rabbit food" and turns it into something amazingly delicious! On this trip I ordered the Pad Thai with gluten free rice noodles in a peanut sauce with tofu, eggs, shredded carrots, bean sprouts, purple cabbage, tomatoes, green onions, crushed peanuts and I added some free range chicken. It's definitely not a traditional pad thai, but it was still super yummy. The noodles were nicely coated and all the veggies were cooked al dente so there was still a nice bite to them. The portions were very generous as well. They have a side station where you can add your own hot sauce and condiments as well as pick up your own water. The cafe is fairly huge and is divided into two distinct seating areas. One side is pretty laid back with bean bags and comfy chairs while the other half has traditional chairs and tables. There are large windows letting the sun come in and with the wifi, one could easily spend all afternoon here. At night they have local live music as well. My friend Lyssa ordered the Mountain Veggie Wrap with hummus, avocado, apple, shredded beets, carrots, alfalfa sprouts, and spinach on a sprouted grain tortilla. Visually this wrap was absolutely beautiful, the beats and carrots just made it look so organic and wholesome. Definitely something I'm not use to eating but I had a few bites and it was surprisingly really good. The crunchy texture made me feel like I was eating something deep fried - minus the grease, while the hummus spread provided great flavour. I'm not a huge fan of chickpeas but I always enjoy the hummus here. You could put lashings of this onto a tire and it would be delicious! It comes with apple slices, rice crackers and cucumber slices. My only complaint is that they don't give you enough things to dip the hummus in. I hate it when restaurants do this. They are so generous with the dip but then they give you three crackers and expect that to stretch! We ended up spreading the hummus on our individual dishes and then took the rest home. The friend ordered the free range chicken pesto panini with herb cheese, roasted red peppers, vine ripe tomatoes, spinach and a basil pesto on ciabatta bread. The herb cheese was great and I really liked the toasted ciabatta bread! They also have a great selection of teas, free trade coffee as well as gluten free and vegan treats made by a local shop in Canmore. This place seems to be doing it all right. Not only do they help to support the environment but they support the community as well. What also keeps me coming back to Communitea is the large portions. Usually at places like this you pay an arm and a leg for some organic carrots and a table spoon of quinoa with some micro greens sprinkled on top, not here, you definitely get what you pay for. Fresh, healthy food. I knew I'd like this place upon walking in. Modern, clean, and bright seating with a row of funky teaware on display. The location is fairly convenient. The seating is decent, and assuming the weather is okay, there's more available outside. I ordered the salmon pesto wrap and a fresh iced tea. The food took about 15 minutes to arrive, even though it wasn't busy at the time. This proved to be okay, as the wrap was wonderful. 5 stars? Not enough! Hubby and I were on holiday in Canmore enjoying the fresh mountain air. We wanted to try and eat healthy so we went to Communitea after reading about it on Yelp. WOW! What else can I say? The restaurant is very bright and airy. Behind the counter, were many different varieties of teas in very colourful tins, making a delightful backdrop and helping to create a very fun atmosphere. I ordered the Buddha Bowl, fantastic! It was so fresh, healthy tasty and filling that I didn't eat all day afterwards. Hubby ordered the Protein Power Bowl with tofu instead of the egg. Not being a normal veggie lover, he was skeptical, but after his first bite, he was in love! "So fresh, crisp, tasty, healthy. I can't believe it's this good not being a hamburger!" he said. The total for both items was only $28. A "large" pizza in Canmore costs more and isn't nearly as good! This is a great little café in Canmore! My husband and I were traveling to the Banff National Park but staying in Canmore so we decided to explore the town. With a quick google search, this restaurant popped up! It had a great assortment of teas (and coffee/latte options) along with some amazing vegan friendly choices. We ordered the tofu scramble, hemp seed smoothie bowl and shared a double tropical avocado toast! Everything was so delicious and service is very quick.
