Good food, reasonable price in a tucked away corner on Banff Street. Lunch special rice bowls $16 with pickles and kimchi as sides. We took the pork belly on rice w salad. Service is friendly and prompt. Full at dinner time!

Went back a 2nd time and just as good as the first! Same amazing service with deliciously crispy dishes.

Battered cod rice bowl and creamy garlic miso ramen

We stumbled on to this place by accident as it was tucked away inside a mall. However, we were so glad that we did bc food was so tasty! Salad (with carrot ginger dressing) was refreshing and their battered cod rice bowl was delicious!!! My husband ordered creamy garlic miso ramen and that was good too...the broth was rich but not greasy. Their rice bowls are their specialities and you can't go wrong g with them. If you are craving some good Asian food while at Banff, definitely give Jugemu a try! Service was very friendly and attentive too!! 5 star all around!!

Lets get to the food shall we * Karaage - Texture is on point. Crisp is nice and light. Lemon compliments the chicken pieces. 8.7/10   * Takoyaki - The temperature is super correct. It has to be below molten lava levels. The flavors are good to go. 9/10   * Shoyu Ramen (Ramen of the Day) - let's get the egg out of the way. Its a little overdone. But the whole this is really good. Noodles are bouncy, pork is tender and the broth is on point. 8.6/10 The setting is very nice. I was excited to try Shoku Izakaya after a waitress recommended this spot to us from when we were…read moredining at Sky Bistro the day prior. The place was pretty busy when we arrived for dinner. Things we tried: - Agedashi Tofu: fried tofu with a warm dashi. It was light and the dashi had nice flavor. (3.5/5 stars) - Karaage Chicken: the chicken was tender and well-seasoned. (3.5/5 stars) - Edamame: the edamame arrived at the end of our meal which was odd. It was also not cooked well and tasted like it could have been frozen and then warmed up. Disappointing. (1/5 stars) - Shoku Roll: the roll was pretty good with the salmon on top and negitoro inside. I wish they used less of the sauce and mayo on top or put it on the side instead, because it was a lot and was overpowering the fish. (4/5 stars) - Salmon Oyako Bowl: I liked the raw salmon and salmon roe part, however the cooked salmon was overcooked. The bowl also lacked flavor and required soy sauce, though I wish there was a different sauce to add to it. (4/5 stars) Overall for the food, it's okay. I'm from California so we have better food so I'm trying not to be too critical knowing it's in Banff. It's nice to have an izakaya spot in downtown Banff though. Service: mixed. The waiter was nice, however they seemed under-staffed. He had too many tables so service was slow and we struggled with flagging him down when we needed a refill or the check.

One roll had perfectly grilled pieces on top with avocado that added a nice smoky flavor, while the other had a great crunchy texture that balanced everything out really well. I also ordered what I believe was a matcha drink, and it paired perfectly with the meal. It was smooth, refreshing, and a nice contrast to the richness of the sushi. Everything tasted high quality and thoughtfully prepared. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and the whole place had a great vibe. Definitely a spot worth checking out if you're in Banff and craving good sushi and a solid matcha drink. Service was great. But a little slow

Karaoke rooms available for large groups with high minimum spends. However, when it comes to the food, I've got issues. The happy hour menu boasts several discounted (half price) sushi rolls, which sound great. However, in execution, they are flooded with mayonnaise (not included in the menu's ingredients). This adds so much extra salt and oil to the sushi that it drowns out the true flavor of the fish. For the first time in my life, I couldn't finish my sushi, and I had no desire to eat any leftovers. Also, reservations are not required, but they definitely help (and require a credit card reservation). If you show up for happy hour, get there early, becasue the space fills up fast!

You'll need to walk downstairs to get in. It's an order-at-the-counter spot, and they bring the food to your table. They offer a variety of noodle dishes ranging from Thai and Japanese to Malaysian. I ordered the Thai tom yum noodle soup, and my husband got the beef soup. If you're looking for authentic Thai tom yum, this isn't it--it's more like tom yum broth with noodles added, which is different from traditional tom yum noodle soup. That said, it was still good enough for me. My husband thought the beef soup was just okay. The staff was nice and friendly. Overall, it's a solid and convenient stop, but not a must-visit for me.

Very friendly, very cozy, and food came out almost immediately since it was a late lunch time. Service was spot on. They have a good choice of food. Not the usual big serving, it was enough for one person and I like that it was not very salty and just enough seasoning/spice. The Ube croquetas was a good surprise, the Ube itself was almost tasteless but combined with the breaded coating made it hard to put down. The takoyaki was pleasantly good, came out immediately after it was cooked. I recommend that as well. A very good place to enjoy warm soup and what looked like a family owned business. Check them out!
