Oat milk matcha latte with soy bean powder

Wagashi tea house was such a cute little restaurant that my bf and I went to with his family when we were visiting Banff. Located inside of a green house the restaurant is off to the right side of the green house. The greenhouse itself has tons of plants hanging from every corner and pots as well as seeds and pants for sale which are adorable and artsy. The tea house has a little corner where you can check in for your reservation and be seated amongst a few wooden tables. The staff was incredibly friendly and had reserved the table for us and also were able to accommodate my sesame allergy and make all of the Japanese breakfast items sesame free for mine. My bf and I decided to share one Japanese breakfast which comes with rice, fish and fresh veggies as well as a miso soup, and we also got one of their strawberry mochi desserts to share. Everything from the fish to the veggies were incredibly fresh and flavorful but my absolute favorite was the strawberry mochi dessert and the oat milk matcha latte with soy bean powder atop. The mochi was perfectly chewy and bouncy with just the right amount of red bean filling and a super sweet strawberry atop and the matcha was smooth, sweet and creamy with a bit of nuttiness from the soy bean powder!

Wagashi Tea House is a cozy, cute little Japanese spot in Canmore. I recommend making a reservation as it gets busy fast and there's limited seating. It's set inside a greenhouse, so you get these gorgeous views of the mountains while you eat. The vibe feels very Japanese and chill, and the service is super friendly. The matcha is probably the best you'll find in the area, really smooth and high quality. Their Japanese breakfast is also authentic and delicious. A great place to unwind and take in the scenery!

When I was in Canmore, one of the restaurants near us was a Japanese tea house in a greenhouse and so we were definitely intrigued in checking it out. The interior is pretty unique, as it's essentially in one section of a large store but it is quite aesthetic. I would recommend making reservations since this place can get booked up; luckily we were able to get one the day before. My family decided to try out the Japanese Breakfast, which is one of the main recommended items. The food was very fresh, and I think the portion size is good if you don't want a heavy lunch. The fish was well-cooked and the miso soup was great too. I tried out the matcha too, which seemed to be pretty authentic. Overall, recommend checking this place out for a cool experience!

Had to try Wagashi during my trip here and it did not disappoint! Reservations are recommended-- there was a huge line after we ate (we got lucky)! I ordered the Japanese Breakfast which was delicious and an iced matcha with oat half sweet -- all 10/10. Its inside of a garden center which is adorable. Overall want to visit again!

Please NOTE: It is highly advised to make reservations online or by phone. This place has limited seating and is very well attended so you know the food is good. The Japanese food and dessert are wonderful you won't be disappointed, love their Matcha Tea Latte!! (unless you are one of those people that have very high expectations on food or don't make reservations)! This is not Michelin star restaurant. The servers are fantastic and love their job you can see by the care in preparation they take. Location is in the Garden centre it's such a cute location.

They were pretty nice. We had a large party of 14 and was able to make the reservation. Because the party was so big, They were able to accommodate us with us preordering ahead on their app which I thought was great. The drinks was served as soon as we sat down and the food soon after. The place is located inside the garden center which I thought was appropriate for a tea house. lol. I got the tea and they served the cup first, then a second serving of the tea brewed for longer. Matcha latte: 5 stars by multiple family members. Miso Salmon: 5 stars. I enjoyed the well balanced meal with protein, carbs and veggies. Salmon was well seasoned and cooked. Chicken yakatori: 3.5 stars per little one. Beef tataki: 4 star per eldest. We enjoyed the meal albeit service was a little slow due to limited servers and our larger party and other guests. Would recommend making reservation.

Tucked inside Bow Valley Garden Centre, Wagashi Tea House offers a menu of Japanese teas, comforting bentos, light desserts, and more. Try the trio of refreshing iced green teas; take small sips to enjoy the quality and differentiate the notes. The maple soy salmon was lightly cooked and oh-so tender with a slight crispiness from the skin. While the vegetables may look simple, you can taste the care that went into creating their deep flavor and softness. I don't see the ochazuke on any virtual menus so it might be a newer dish. Don't be intimidated by something unfamiliar; the server will explain how you should traditionally enjoy this dish. I absolutely loved it! The salmon is perfectly cooked, and the broth ties the dish together, creating a comforting umami bath for the rice and salmon.

THIS PLACE WAS AMAZING. i'm so glad that we went because it was in canmore and on this beautiful mountain and the food place was in a shop that sold gardening things, cute whimsical garden figurines and ceramics too. the matcha powder they use here is 10/10 insane chef's kiss i almost got another one but stopped myself because we were about to hike. katsu sando: 10/10 - toasted perfectly and so was the chicken. it was exactly what i wanted and needed without being too filling. the miso soup was a great palate cleanser. matcha cheesecake: 10/10 - so good i loved the the flavors matcha soft serve: 10/10 - so creamy! i wanted to try everything on the menu and would definitely recommend as a stop. the place is soo cute to explore and you can see the mountains in the back through the clear glass.

The location was interesting. The service was mostly attentive. It's decently quite being that it's located inside a greenhouse. The food was also good. The bento box was great and the deconstructed matcha cheesecake was surprisingly good. The sando was also really good.

Wagashi tea house is a cute little tea house located inside of a garden center. I went on a Saturday morning and there were plenty of tables. I went with the Japanese breakfast, which came in a bento box with grilled salmon, rice, salad, pickles, Japanese egg omelete, and miso soup. I also had the matcha latte. Both matcha latte and the bento breakfast were delicious. The bento was pretty light, healthy, and not overly greasy. They also have eggs benedict, croque monseur, omurice, and waffles. There dessert menu looked really good. I chose the matcha cheesecake. Very creamy and not too sweet. The service was great and very attentive. They sell Japanese ceramic dishes. I bought a cute mug.

Japanese food in Banff area? I know, not the type of food I think of when I think of Canada either. But Wagashi Tea House is well worth a visit. Or two. Or even three (which some in my group did during our 3.5 day trip!). Wagashi surpassed all our expectations in terms of presentation and taste. Every single item I ordered tasted amazing. I had the matcha with espresso shot affogato, mochaccino, genmaicha, croissant, and omurice and loved all of it. The croissant was super fresh, buttery, and flaky. The mochaccino was the perfect amount of sweetness aka not very sweet at all so the chocolate shines through. The teas were of high quality. Price point is reasonable for the Banff/Canmore area. The owners are lovely and provide a homey feel.

Last time I came during winter, the menu was more limited. Returning after three years, they now have a more extensive menu and more supporting staff at the restaurant. You can make reservations online or wait onsite for a table. When the weather is nice, they offer outdoor seating with beautiful mountain views. I ordered the cold beef tataki bento box, soba set, matcha latte, amazake, matcha cheesecake, and mochi. Everything in the bento box was delicious. I liked the refreshing salad dressing. The beef tataki had great flavor. Their rice was seasoned well and had a great texture. The soba set is simple but good. The dashi broth was flavorful, and they provide hot water to dilute it into a soup after you're done with your soba. Their wasabi tasted freshly grated. In addition, I also got their rock crab cheese melt and shrimp onigiri, both of which were delicious. I also enjoyed their unique take on the matcha cheesecake. It's a ball-shaped cheesecake with matcha powder on top, and graham cracker crumbles spread on the plate.

I love love loveee Wagashi! What a great find. I love the idea of a teahouse hidden in a greenhouse. The food is all so solid. I loved their Japanese breakfast. Every component was well made and the tea paired very well with it. We also enjoyed the Wagashi waffle. I came with my family, and we liked it so much that we came back again during our short trip to Banff. I recommend this spot to everyone I know who's going to Banff. So so good. (Mugicha cold brew was AMAZING)

We started with two small plates and a vegetable: Salmon Crudo, Pickled Marinated Fried Chicken and the Cabbage. Wow. Wow. Wow. We decided to eat each one entirely before moving to the next one. Each one had such unique flavors, we wanted to focus on them and enjoy without confusing our taste buds. I highly recommend doing this! Then we ordered the Lamb dish. Our menu said it was going to be a curry dish, but when it arrived it was a Mediterranean dish. It was honestly dreamy! But we were confused because I guess we had a copy of the old menu. Nonetheless, I basically licked the plate! Lastly we ordered the chocolate salted caramel budino (pudding) for dessert. It was so luscious and went perfectly with our end of dinner hot drinks of tea and cappuccino. The serviced matched the food: also fantastic. Super professional and friendly waitress (I forgot to ask her name) she was so personal and we enjoyed talking to her. They comp'd our lamb because of the menu mixup which was so nice! This was hands down, my favorite meal of my trip. The staff was welcoming off the bat. We had a large party but was seated relatively quick. We started off our meal with the Chef's Signature Mussels and Pulled Pork Poutine. I liked the gravy in the poutine. The mussels were bathed in a sauce. Do dip your bread in it and go wild! My son normally doesn't like seafood but he couldn't stop eating the mussels. They have weekly specials on their website. Definitely check it out before you make a visit over! We went on Thursday and it was pasta night specials for $20. We tried the Clam Linguine, Carbonara, and Linguini Bolognese. The Clam Linguine was the lightest of the pastas. There was a good amount of clams. The Carbonara was extremely rich and probably the least favorite of the three. I thoroughly enjoyed the Linguini Bolognese. The pasta was cooked al dente and the flavors were so deep and comforting. The Braised Alberta Pork Ribs in a Root Beer Glaze was tasty too. You can really taste the root beer flavor so if that's not your thing, you should skip this dish. My son kept raving about this meal for the rest of our trip! I can't wait to come back to see more of Canada and of course to have another delicious meal here.
