Ramen Arashi is a good, probably your best option in Canmore to satisfy your Asian noodle fix. That said I found it extremely salty... like hours later I felt dehydrated and had a small headache.
No-frills casual restaurant, but their ramen is really good, the broth is just so satisfying. Their gyoza has a great filling also, too bad it's fried instead of steamed. Went once when not busy and once when it was full with people on waitlist, service was great both times.
Quick decision for ramen, good choice, would return! We were sat right away on a Thursday evening in a small, casual styled place which seemed to have a steady flow of customers. Our orders we're taken right away, and we both decided to get the popular Arashi ramen. A pork bone and Arashi sesame broth base topped with pork belly, egg, spinach, seaweed, bamboo shoots, chili, onion, and peanut. The noodles were cooked perfectly, not overdone, flavors not over powering, mild heat spice. We both agreed could of been a tad more spicy and probably could of asked but they were busy. The food arrived quickly and was very tasty! We would return to try other menu items and highly recommend for a reasonably priced meal!
Arashi's soup broth is unique in that they flavor their pork broth with sesame seed paste. We tried both the white and black sesame seed paste broths (Arashi and Black Arashi); both were very good. The ramen noodles were cooked perfectly al dente. The pork belly was marinated with a nice soy flavor. The toppings had various textures and flavor profiles. Overall, we had very satisfying and comforting bowls of ramen. They have several locations, including both Canmore and Banff. At this location, it was a 30 minute wait for 2 people on a Sunday night. It was worth the wait for 30 minutes, but not sure if it would be worth more than that, especially after a tiring day of hiking. Their waitlist could use some improvement. Right now, they would telephone every guest when his or her table is ready. Everyone is just waiting outside their entrance. They could just call out the name like any other restaurant...
Casual popular small restaurant chain in Canmore, Banff etc. no frill ramen. Good premium edamame and appetizers plate. We ordered black arashi, signature arashi, shoyu ramen, seafood ramen. Good ramen, tasty soup. Fillings. Quick serve.
Comfort food like ramen always warms the body and soul on a cool evening. I was craving something Asian and with noodles so we searched and found this small shop in a little strip mall just off Main (8th). Walk in and put your name on the list to get a seat. If you want to order takeout, just head directly to the cash register and order. It's a small place that seats maybe 20 people or so. So if you are more than 2 people, you may expect to wait a bit for a couple tables to clear so that they can clean and combine them. We waited about 15 minutes because we were only 2. While waiting, look at the menu so you can order immediately upon getting a table. We ordered the edamame, Miso tonkotsu and the arashi ramen. Good size portions. The edamame was served warm with sea salt... Just the way I like it! I enjoyed my miso tonkotsu... Savory with lots of noodles. The miso flavor was light. The noodles were tasty and plentiful. The corn added sweetness. The husband got the signature ramen which is very peanut-y. It was almost like a peanut broth with noodles. It was definitely different and interesting. Service was good and they were hopping in the kitchen constantly in motion. The cooks were really busy to keep up with dine in and takeout orders at the same time.
We were in the mood for some ramen for an early lunch and found Ramen Arashi tucked away on the 2nd floor of a small mall in Banff. The small ramen shop has an open kitchen and limited seating (about 5 tables). The all Japanese crew added an authentic touch. We ordered the miso ramen and Arashi ramen. The noodles were cooked just right. Both broth were flavorful and rich, but we preferred the miso ramen more. By the time we finished eating, the line was forming outside the door, and I over heard the wait would be 45 minutes. Since they don't take reservation, I would suggest show up outside of peak hours or get to-go (they have a booth on the first floor of the same mall) to avoid the wait.
Stopped in Canmore for Safeway and ended up at Ramen Arashi for dinner. It's a small restaurant and it was packed. Upon entry, there is a sign up sheet for a table. I was able to get a counter seat. I had the Arashi ramen, which has tonkotsu soup with Arashi sesame base, pork belly, half an egg, spinach, seaweed, bamboo, chili oil, and peanuts. The broth was so flavorful. The entire ramen bowl was so good and one of the best I've had. It had chili oil, but wasn't too spicy. I really enjoy this meal.
I was not impressed with this place - they were out of pork the night I came so I got the miso ramen with chicken and the flavors were not hitting. We were seated at stools along the wall and you're just staring at a blank wall which also wasn't great.
Ramen Arashi is a busy place! I discovered their other location years ago in Banff. When I saw there was another one in Canmore, I knew I had to visit. They were busy when my wife and I arrived the first time we went there. After an hour waiting, we were finally seated. We liked everything about their ramen. The broth was very good for the area. The noodles seemed to be the perfect thickness. The chasu they gave was thick. It even came with an egg. We liked what was included in a bowl of ramen. Service was good even though by the time we were seated, they were starting to close. At no time did they rush us. We tried to go there again a few days later. But, this time the wait was even longer. After waiting a few minutes, we decided to do their takeout instead. Even with a drive back to the hotel, the ramen was good. Ramen Arashi is a great place for ramen when visiting Banff. I definitely will visit them if I am in the area again.
I ordered their black Arashi ramen: tonkotsu/pork bone broth with a black sesame base. The ramen bowl had the right amount of ramen with al dente texture. It had spinach, bamboo shoots, half an egg, green onions, two pieces of chashu, and a piece of seaweed. The black sesame adds a nutty and creamy taste to the bone broth. I would come back again if I'm ever in the area.
Located inside one of the "malls" in downtown Banff. The all Japanese staff helped add to the feel good factor about the authenticity. It's decent ramen for a tourist town. We got the Akashi and the miso tonkotsu, with the miso being the favorite out of the two. Service was good and this spot gets packed very quickly. Interior is packed and quaint. There is another spot downstairs owned by the same company / owners and it seems they also have a location in Canmore. Overall not bad considering being in Banff.
Food was great. The ramen was a nice, spicy well-balanced broth. The meat was tender and the egg was cooked just right. Overall flavors were well balanced. The ChaShu was nice safe option with decent sauce and the meat is tender. Service was quick, it's a very casual eatery. Ambiance is intimate and quant. Feels very family owned and authentic. There's a small corner of snacks to purchase. 9/10

Ramen Arashi is probably one of the best ramen shops in town. We actually wanted to try this yesterday in Banff, but the time and wait just didn't work out for us, so we aimed to try this today in Canmore. We finished up our day exploring Kootenay and ended up at Ramen Arashi around 7:30ish PM and we entered ourselves on the waitlist. It's a small shop, so we didn't get a chance to ask how long wait would be, but judging by the 10 min wait we did, the turnover seemed fairly quick. We just did a quick walk around the nearby grocery store and back and our table was ready. Between the four of us, we shared Chicken Karaage (2 orders) and a Pork Gyoza. My partner got the Arashi Ramen while I got the Yuzu-Shio Ramen. Order came out quickly. The Chicken Karaage was fried pretty nicely. Juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. It came with a sweet red chili sauce I believe. I think that pairing was okay. Sauce wise, I would have preferred an aioli or none at all. The gyoza were also made the same - juicy on the inside and had a crispy outer wonton shell. This sauce was spicy though! So if your spicy tolerance is low, taste at your own risk. My partner loved it! I just can't handle that spice level. Onto my main dish, the Yuzu-Shio was great for the chilly night! Ramen was perfectly cooked and had a bouncy chew to it. The pork was not too fatty and also tender. The spinach and bamboo shoots were great additional toppings. I wish they swap out the salad leaves with some more hearty veggies since the salad leaves break down with the hot soup pretty easily. Otherwise it was a great and satisfying dinner. Food: chicken kaarage 3/5 was more like popcorn chicken with some sweet and spicy dipping sauce, not true chicken kaarage. Black arashi ramen 5/5 the sesame flavor in the broth really came through and the egg was cooked perfectly with a molten center. The whole dish was delicious and I would definitely go back for this. Service: took about 30 minutes to wait for a table, but its in downtown Canmore so I went to look at other nearby shops in the meantime. Once we had a table, service and food came out fast. They also do a lot of to go orders. Ambience: small little restaurant in a strip mall. Nothing fancy. read more
This ramen was so yummy. The broth was not too salty and had a prominent yuzu flavor as promised! I usually only take a few sips of ramen broth because it's often too heavy, but I almost finished this one! Most restaurants also don't feature a yuzu shio. Toppings were room temp, not warm, but the flavor made up for it. Also, there are signs stating they cannot guarantee zero cross contamination and a majority of the ramen dishes contain peanuts. This is a small place, can only hold 18-22 customers. So be ready to wait since it's popular. We waited for an hour to get a table but it was worth it after a hike. We got the Veggie Miso Ramen- very flavorful and light. and the Veggie Tan Tan Ramen- has a rich sesame taste. Servers are pretty accommodating! read more
After having American, Italian, everything but Asian food for a week... We were really craving ramen. We had a long day adventuring on the road and were ready for some comfort food. Ramen Arashi did not disappoint. When you enter, there's a small area with Asian/Japanese snacks, so if you're looking for some snacks on the road, this would be convenient. The ramen shop is located inside a plaza with shared parking. We parked on the street and had to pay for metered parking, but they do validations if you park in the plaza, so make sure you try the parking lot first. It'll save you a few bucks. Food ordered. Yuzu shio & black Arashi ramen Drinks ordered: genmaicha iced soy latte & hojicha iced soy latte I love yuzu lemon, so the yuzu shio broth caught my eye. The yuzu flavor is light but noticeable. It's a hint of both tartness and sweetness. The black Arashi is a black sesame base. Per my husband, it was not spicy at all. He added karaage chicken for extra protein and loved the hearty broth. I was pleased to discover this small and authentic Japanese ramen spot located near downtown Canmore. We waited 10min for a table on a Thursday evening, and once seated the service was smooth and the food came out pretty quickly. The takoyaki was pillowy and well-seasoned, if I were to nitpick I just wish there was more octopus filling relative to the batter. I ordered the spicy tonkotsu ramen which had a really nice kick to it, the pork belly in it was delicious and the noodles were delightfully chewy. I also sampled some of the Arashi ramen which had a rich sesame/peanut and umami flavor to it, and the classic tonkatsu ramen was what you would expect from a more traditional Japanese style ramen. Overall would highly recommend this place if whether you are looking for a classic bowl of cozy ramen or if you want a twist on the traditional dish in which case I would recommend the Arashi style. Would definitely return if I visit the area again read more

Small and busy restaurant with not very much seating but well worth the wait! Our group was feeling warm soup after a day of traveling and hiking around Banff and we found this seemingly unassuming ramen shop. We came in with little expectations since we weren't sure how Japanese ramen would taste compared to our past experiences with great ramen in the San Francisco/Bay Area. We got the spicy tonkotsu ramen, Arashi, and Yuzu Shio Ramen. The broth was so flavorful and rich, noodles were perfectly chewy consistency, and portions were generous. Our entire group was satisfied with the meal! Would definitely come again if we are back in town. read more

We came for an early dinner around 5:30 PM. The wait was ~30 minutes for a party of six. You put your name and phone # down on a list and they contact you when your table is ready. The inside is pretty small. There is a "waiting" area where they have Asian snacks but can sit only about 2 people comfortably. There's about six tables with chairs and booths on one side of the restaurant and the other half of the restaurant is just countertop with 5-6 chairs facing the wall. The food was OK but could have been better. The ramen was overall a 3.5/5 for everyone's. It didn't have a whole lot of broth or toppings/garnish. It felt pretty basic and the portion sizes are small considering the price you pay. The appetizers we ordered were alright, but nothing too special. The chicken karaage just tasted like deep fried frozen popcorn chicken. The star of the night was the ume sake. It was really good and we ended up ordering two glasses and even asked what kind of sake it was so we could buy it ourselves. Service was eh. With how little people are able to sit down inside we expected them to check up on us more frequently. Overall 3.5/5. Wasn't the greatest but also wasn't the worst. read more
This was my first time trying the black sesame ramen. It tasted amazing! The black sesame is not overpowering and you can still taste the pork bone broth. The spices also added to the flavor, making it appetizing. It was a great combination I've eaten so far. We also tried the original arashi with pork bone broth. It was so flavorful and paired well with the thick ramen. We enjoyed them so much and surprisingly all of their price were reasonable. The shop is quite small with some regular tables and bar tables.Also, they have some merchandise for snacks near the entrance. So far the service was excellent and welcoming and it felt like dining in Japan. read more

We went to this one and the one in Banff and they are both so good. The staff were friendly and helped up choose and the place was very welcoming and family friendly. The ramen was very flavorful and authentic. Definitely recommend for the semi long wait. read more

We walked into Ramen Arashi and were immediately seated. Got our food really fast and did not disappoint. The premium edamame has a kick to it, so if you are sensitive to spice, this might be a bit too spicy for you. Our ramen was the perfect portion and filling. My husband got the Arashi ramen and I got the spicy tonkotsu. I didn't think the spicy tonkotsu would be as spicy, but has a strong kick at the end. Beware if you can't handle spicy foods. I typically can eat spicy, but even this was a bit spicy for me. Overall great food! read more

Pro tip, if u go in and register your license plate, it's free parking...super tiny restaurant with limited tables inside...went around 7pm Sunday night and table for 5 was 1hr wait time...ordered the pork tonkatsu and spicy pork tonkatsu togo since our place was 9 minutes away... Service was average...can't speak to the ambiance bc we weren't waiting around for an hour... Chicken karaage was mediocre with a sweet chili sauce instead of the usual mayo sauce (thought I was eating lumpia for a minute there)...pass on this... Pork tonkatsu both spicy and non spicy broth was extremely salty...evidently the chef has a heavy hand when it comes to seasoning with salt...broth was not complexed and lacking the depth of bone soup...uh, I wasn't even lifted an inch let alone "transcended"... pls, let's dial it back a notch...by no means was this on same level as Japan or California ramen places...hard pass... read more

I think this place will go down in history as one of the best ramen I've had in a while. I got the spicy tonkostu ramen with rice noodles and the broth was sooooo flavorful and the meat was sooo tender. It's a small casual spot with limited seating. The service is kind, friendly and exceptionally nice. If I'd lived closer I'd make eating here a weekly affair. read more
Despite its tiny size (four tables), Ramen Arashi made a large statement. It was perhaps the best ramen I have ever had. I ordered the Veg Black Tan Tan Ramen. The broth was otherworldly, I cannot put my finger, on which ingredient made it pop so hard. It had a dark gray/ blackened, sweet, creamy flavour. The ramen bowl was generously filled. It was the real deal. Located off the main strip, it appeared to be a local joint and far less touristy than other nearby restaurant. Coming from Toronto, I was pretty skeptical about getting ramen in Canmore. However, Ramen Arashi exceeded our expectations and could compete with what I've had back in T.O. Firstly this place seems to be a staple for a lot of locals (and tourists) as it was very busy when we came. Luckily we managed to grab a seat not long after arriving, but there were many families behind us who were not so lucky and had 20-45min waits. The seating inside is very limited so I'd recommend maybe calling ahead or going during off-peak hours. I think the business could have fit a couple more tables inside but perhaps they don't do so for COVID-safety reasons. To start we got the takoyaki and the gyoza. The takoyaki was delicious, we really enjoyed it. Not to mention, $6.95 for 6 pieces is quite a fair price for takoyaki. The gyoza came as deep fried dumplings, which were okay, but I prefer pan fried dumplings more. I got the Devil Arashi spicy level 3 while my companion got the black tan tan ramen. The Devil Arashi came with a generous amount of toppings that are a little unusual for ramen (tofu cubes, spinach, fried garlic slivers, etc) but they worked very well and it was delicious. Level 3 would probably be pretty spicy for the average person but for me I could go another level or two higher next time. The broth was rich and thick, and the noodles were great quality and perfectly al dente. The black tan tan ramen also has a thick broth, with a heavy nutty flavour from the sesame (it's very reminiscent of peanut butter). For me personally the tan tan broth was a little too rich but my companion loved it. We walked out full and satisfied, and I'm very glad we gave this place a visit. read more
My cousin and I were exploring Canmore after hiking in Banff and decided we wanted something hot to eat to help warm us up. We saw that this place was within walkable distance and decided to head here. There is a small parking lot available as well as paid street parking for those who were wondering. Walking in, the establishment was cozy with maybe 4 tables and a bar with maybe 5 seats, but we were seated surprisingly fast for how busy it seemed. I decided to try the arashi since I feel like this restaurant wouldn't name their business after a meal if it wasn't good, and my cousin decided on the tonkotsu. It didn't take long for our dishes to be brought over, and man were they good! Hot and fresh packed with flavor which is definitely what we were looking for. It was filing enough to satisfy us until dinner but didn't give us that groggy feeling people typically get after carb-loading, which was so nice since we really wanted to shop around. Service was also nice and efficient; no problems for us, so definitely give this place a try if you're in town! read more
Very yummy ramen for a great price. The restaurant itself is very small - few tables on one side, and a counter with stools on the other side. But people were moving quickly in and out so there wasn't that big of a wait. Our server was very nice as well. The ramen was great - lots of toppings which I enjoyed. I do wish you got two halves of an egg instead of just one. My boyfriend had the miso ramen - he said it was good but just a little too salty for him. This place is great bang for your buck, and a good place to warm up on a cold day. read more

Got the vegetable tan tan with kale noodles and it was delicious! I believe the veggie ramen options are the only ones that don't use a pork broth. This was perfect after a cold snowy day in the mountains. Space is pretty small so they have a waiting list that you can sign in on if you can't find a spot to sit at. Free parking for 1 hr in the front using the indigo app. There's parking in the back, but you do have to pay for it. read more
