Ate here on our way back to the hotel from a full hiking day in BANFF. Long story short, I was glad we decided to eat here! * Complimentary parking in the lot for 90minutes with license plate registration * Service (5/5 stars): servers were all attentive, friendly, & helpful * Ambiance: plenty of tables & booths to host larger groups + tables w/ 4 people seating Food was large portions which we appreciated and their sushi wasn't bad either! Honestly no notes, 5/5 would recommend coming here with an empty stomach! read more

We went here on a whim on our way out of Canmore, and I can't say we enjoyed it much. We ordered beef udon, shrimp tempura, and some nigiri. The toro nigiri barely tastes like anything and the unagi was normal tasting, nothing special. The shrimp tempura was fine as well but I wouldn't say it was anything great. The beef udon was not good and the beef was insanely tough, making the soup completely not worth eating. I don't recommend this place but it's not terrible. I dont think I'll return. read more

Service: sweet and fast Ambiance: clean and spacious Food: some delicious, some needed more flavor 1) soft tofu soup: we requested it to be vegetarian and it was amazinnnnnnnnng! I loved 2) Avocado & Cucumber Roll + Yam Roll: good as expected 3) Mango Avocado Roll: beautiful and equally delicious... 4) Bibimbap: lacked alot of flavor I would come here again just for the Soft Tofu Soup. read more

My cousin recommended this place in Canmore, which is walking distance from our hotel! I would definitely recommend the Gai Bi Tang (beef rib soup), it was very tasty and had the perfect flavor! The soup was outstanding! The wait staff was excellent and very courteous and always bowing to us! The restaurant was half full but the noise level was fine! read more

Delectable. Phenomenal. A masterpiece. These are but a few words I would use to describe the Korean food at Mii Sushi & BBQ. In a land with a dearth of quality Asian food, this establishment rises like cream to the top. After a long day basking in the glory of Banff, we arrived at the plaza to grab some Thai food next door; however, we had arrived too late, so we decided to head over to Mii. Little did we know, the Lord had intervened on that very day to guide us to an unknown food haven. Upon entering, I was skeptical. Asian restaurants specializing in multiple cuisines are often masters of none, but I needed proper sustenance and rejuvenation after a disappointing meal in Banff. I ordered the Kalbi Tang, hoping for a sliver of the taste I had come to remember back home in New York. When the dish finally arrived, I spooned a tiny portion into my mouth, careful to maintain my expectations. My mouth dropped and the soup almost spilled out. It was one of the best Kalbi Tangs I've had in my life. Little did I know, in this small town of Canmore, I had discovered a restaurant serving fantastically authentic Korean food. The soup was finished in 10 minutes, with every scalding scoop of soup quickly ingested, and each perfectly succulent, marbled piece of kalbi happily swimming in my mouth. You bet I came back the next day and ordered the kimchi jiggae, which, to my delight, was also incredible. I had, again, ate an incredibly mediocre meal in Banff, and needed a real meal to heal my soul. Mii did it again. I was saved and my scarred feet from the meters (we're no longer in America) of hiking no longer ached. Life comes at you in weird ways. It was a cruel summer, but the Lord redeems in miraculous ways, and Mii Sushi & BBQ was certainly one of them. Ordinarily, I would write reviews about the unsavory places I had eaten in Banff, but this week was a happy one, with a stomach full of undoubtedly the best Korean food in the Canmore / Banff area. It was no wonder a tour bus full of Koreans pulled up to eat at this fine establishment. To Mii: keep doing what you're doing and give my compliments to the chef. You truly made this trip that much better by serving food worthy of a Michelin Star consideration (relative to the dining scene here), and that is noteworthy to say the least. Kudos to you read more

GET THE KALBI! It was really good! Run by Koreans, so you know the food is really good. Just note that they might be short staffed and when we went we we're told that there was a 30 minute wait for food at 6pm on a Sunday. We overheard that there was a 50 minute wait for food whether it was sitting in or taking out later on and we're told that they were shortstaff OK. Regardless, I really appreciated the service and taste of the food! We ordered a couple and Unagi rolls, Bulgogi, galbi, soondubu, house salad and ramen for 5 very hungry girls. Portions were large, delicious, and full of warmth. I would suggest the korean food more than the Japanese just because it tasted better. read more

Very very understaffed! Food was mediocre at a price where it should have been better quality. We had to flag down the one server anytime we needed something--even to order. I do think with more staff it would have been excellent! read more

this was hands down one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. First off, this place is completely unfriendly to families or anyone with kids. We were treated like an inconvenience the moment we walked in. The atmosphere was cold and uncomfortable. The sushi was stale, borderline inedible--and when we tried to politely mention it, the owner (a woman) became extremely rude and offensive, making it clear that customer feedback is not welcome here. She showed zero respect, and instead of addressing our concern, she responded with attitude and aggression. This is not just a bad restaurant--it's a place that leaves you feeling frustrated and disrespected. There are plenty of amazing restaurants in Canmore, but this is absolutely not one of them. Do yourself a favour and avoid this place at all costs. It's not worth your time, money, or energy. Just keep walking. read more

We came here for dinner, and fortunately took Yelper recommendations by ordering mostly Korean dishes and avoiding most of the sushi. Everything came out sizzling, though service was a bit slow. In order from most to least favorite dishes: The best dish we ordered was the Hot Stone Bibimbap. It had a good kick to it, and there was crispy rice at the bottom of the wok. Everything was tasty and fresh! The Bul Go Gi had a really savory and tasty flavor, and was super tender, but it didn't seem super fresh. It was still good, but a better sear/quality of meat and less salt would make it even better haha. The Chicken Yakisoba was pretty good and the portion was large, but there was an overwhelming smoky-ish flavor to it, and the chicken was salty. I did appreciate that there was a good amount of vegetables though. The Spicy Tofu Soup was a disappointment-the tofu was completely broken and the seafood did not taste fresh AT ALL. The Canmore Bento Box was the only sushi item we ordered-and as expected, the sashimi did not taste fresh. Canmore has limited dining options, so this was alright, but I do not think we would come back. read more

This place is so good! We weren't expecting much, due to it being a small town. We came in, were told right away it'd be 30 mins before we'd get our order, which was fine, were seated immediately and got drinks right away. They came back 6-7 mins later to take our order. I ordered seafood sunomono & sashimi combo, he ordered spicy chirashi. A few minutes later, they brought out miso soup, and it was really good. It was maybe 15 minutes before we got our food, and let me tell you, the fish was buttery & fresh, not old at all. The seafood sunomono had great taste & texture. His spicy chirashi ended up being a winner too. These guys knocked it out of the park, and we'd of come back if they were open mote often! read more

They had the worst service I had ever experienced at a restaurant. They took our order incorrectly and charged is for it. Moreover they made it our fault that they took the order wrong. It was very unfortunate. We enjoyed the food tho. read more

I went here for sushi while visiting Banff National Park. It was okay. The nigiri was good, as was the seaweed salad. I got the spider roll and a roll with tempura shrimp in it. Both the crab and shrimp were fried, but raw inside. They flash fried them both, but not long enough. The batter wasn't very crispy either. Regret ordering those items, didn't eat more than a bite of either. read more

Ordered Agedashi Tofu, Prawn Tempura, Seafood Sunonomo, Tuna Sashimi (8 pieces) and Rice. Something different from my usual Seafood Sunonomo and Assorted Sashimi. I was greeted and seated right away. Both owners came to greet me. They have become like family. The staff are always polite and attentive. I even have my own table as I am a regular here. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and always clean and sanitary. I was debating on having one of their z Korean dishes which are always good but Japanese won out tonight. For a Thursday night at 8:00pm it is still pretty busy. The restaurant is about a 1/3 full which is good for this time of year before Christmas rush. Absolutely delicious read more

Food was good. No pictures, we ate it all. Lol . The waitress, Jenny was VERY FRIENDLY. Wish all waitresses are like her.

We came here after seeing all the good reviews but were not impressed. Maybe we should of gotten korean food but the sushi was nothing special. It filled us but they charged us 3 dollars for a small thing of kimchi without telling us. Service was okay they were really nice. Kind of wish we checked somewhere else out while visiting. Still a pretty little area though! read more

Had a lovely dinner at Mii during my trip to Canmore. My hot stone bibimbap hit the spot and it comes with a small variety of banchan. The service was kind and attentive and you can't beat the views of the mountains and the occasional train at the back. Very happy with my birthday dinner experience. :) read more

Decent food that is overpriced. Read the reviews here and thought this might be a decent option for Asian food. We ordered Teriyaki Chicken and a big bowl of Ramen. The Teriyaki Chicken was just terrible and tastes nothing like the real thing. The ramen had good taste but is way, way overpriced (almost $60 Canadian). Overall, I do not recommend this location if you want genuine Korean/Japanese food. Service is not good at all. read more

Solid international find in Canmore. Really enjoyed the stone bowl bibimbap and spicy tofu soup. It was legitimate authentic Korean food. The French speaking waitress was very kind and did a great job too! My only hesitation is that this place is a little pricey... but it is a resort town. read more

Fine if you are needing warm comfort food. Don't get the spicy tuna. The fish tasted off. I didn't get sick though, so no harm, no foul. The ramen broth, while not offensive at all, was not like good ramen. But it had a reasonably nice flavor. I had the miso beef. My girl had the tonkatsu beef. She was disappointed that there were no thin slices of pork. I missed the soft egg. The vegetable in the ramen was a broccoli floret. That was odd and did not complement the dish. The beef was chopped and had a sweet quality to it. Perhaps it was Korean. It was quite unexpected in ramen. Service was wonderful! Our booth smelled like pine-sol. Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course. Honestly I just wouldn't eat here again. read more

Terrible service and food. The sushi (fish)is not fresh. Also the young lady (waitress) had a terrible attitude. Probably because she is the manager of a terrible establishment. Also they charge for every sauce including ginger and wasabi, which is shocking for a sushi restaurant. Please don't waste your time and you hard earned money here. read more

Ordered sashimi dinner box, fish quality is good, but not the tempura/chicken teriyaki. Spicy tofu soup used unfresh seafood and spiced way too hot (assuming to smear the low quality ingredients). Ramen was literally instant ramen noodle you can get at T&T (albeit Japanese one). Now at the price of $21-24 per meal, hard to justify the value. Buyers beware. read more

We are so pleased with this place. The salmon, tuna and amaebi nijiri were great. They were super busy (probably because they are such a tasty restaurant) so our service was lacking at first... but they slowed down and the service was great. We ordered the veggie tempura and beef hot pot. It was amazingly flavorful and hearty. Its perfect for the cold winter months. Soup is great for the soul, so are the mountains. Enjoy. read more

I think 3 stars is a great achievement, as the food and service we received was not comparable to other asian restaurants we have seen on our trip from Vancouver to Calgary. We ordered starters, main causes and drinks (beer and cranberry juice). The starters arrived just before the main cause, there was no chance to get the starter finished before the main cause arrived. The food itself was average. The cranberry juice came in a tin and we did not get any water offered, even other tables did. The service was just about ok. For a quick, average dinner it is ok, I would not go again. read more

This place SLAPS. I got a chirashi bowl and a roll, and while both were excellent, my friend got the bulgogi plate and I was extremely jealous. After a day of skiing or ice climbing, the portions and food quality at Mii will definitely fill you up. Can't wait to come back. read more

The sushi was great! But the chicken. omg. Microwaved disgusting rubber. Has chicken gotten so expensive that it should be purchased precooked from a supplier and then microwaved to order? I couldn't eat it. Not at that price. Its really too bad because the Avocado Tuna roll was great. I also tried my boyfriends beef teriyaki. It was better, but still pretty rough. read more

Thought the food would be promising seeing the yelp reviews and the amount of people inside the restaurant. However the food was at most mediocre. The sashimi was average but the rice was terribly made. It tasted like it was sitting out for days. The chicken teriyaki looked good but tasted like a reheated frozen chicken patty from Costco. We were absolutely disappointed especially after a long day of hiking. Maybe the korean dishes at this restaurant would have been more promising. read more

We stopped into this restaurant on our way to Banff. When we arrived the restaurant was very busy and waited a few minutes before we were greeted and seated. There was a sign at the front door to please wait to be seated. The waitress and manager warned us that the food would be half an hour and if it would be okay, we waited only fifteen minutes for our food and I must say it was delicious! The waitress was quite busy so I can't fault her on her service as we had to wait a little bit on our bill. I ordered takeout because I wanted to try this place because it has good reviews but personally I would not come back. They gave me my food in broken or already used boxes which was disgusting. Definitely the best Sushi I have had in the Bow Valley! And the prices are extremely modest for the quality and presentation. They also do Korean BBQ and other Asian inspired dishes.. but seriously, the sushi... You gotta try the Mii house special roll. Awkward and difficult to eat, but it looks and tastes like a master piece! My friends and I go here very often, and have never been disappointed - with anything. Service is friendly and quick. Food is beautiful and tasty. Restaurant is clean and well spaced out. Decor could use improvement - but regardless of that - the SUSHI! If you love sushi, but maybe your partner doesn't - this is a great place to try some of the less traditional rolls as well, sometimes they are easier for the beginner. So, you're looking for something Asian inspired for lunch or dinner? Possibly sushi? Yummy bowl of spicy Korean soup? Or maybe both? Well, let me tell you why you should walk into place right now. It has sushi and Korean (yay!), cleanliness , friendly staff, great service, great parking and most importantly DELICIOUS, YUMMY, FRESH dishes. We ate here more than a few times in our short stay in Canmore. We had their bibimbap, California roll, tuna/salmon nigiri, short rib beef soup, more sushi rolls, and finally, their spicy tofu soup (without the seafood). EVERY SINGLE DISHE WAS AMAAAAAAAZING!!! Being a Seattleite, we have access to fresh fish daily, so we know good fish when we see/taste it. Their tuna and salmon nigiri melted in my mouth. I've never had this experience with my favorite sushi joints in WA. It was an amazing! I've never been to Japan, but I can imagine somehow that's how their sushi would taste like. Bibimbap, short rib beef soup and spicy tofu soup was fresh and seasoned well m, meaning not too salty or bland. Now please, go enjoy this family owned restaurant and enjoy the food as much as my husband and I did. read more

Disappointed. With all the positive reviews I thought this was a sure thing. We were seated promptly- Great. We ordered the following... shoyu ramen which was average at best and little flavor, spicy tofu soup which was awful, beef teriyaki and honestly I had no idea what they actually gave us but it wasn't beef teriyaki, and lastly two sushi rolls which were good but so much rice and very thinly sliced fish. Would not recommend and would not go back after spending 100$ there. read more
