Fast, cheap (for Canmore) and casual. This little corner restaurant (across the street from Communitea) is the perfect place to fuel up between outdoor activities.
The simple space is divided into two white walled rooms and furnished in the latest in basic birch/steel/plastic from the Ikea. You shouldn't go there for the ambiance though; you go there for a super quick, pretty solid, sushi feed. Right beside the till, straight ahead as you walk in, a bar of pre-made rolls, appies, and a few pieces of sushi mean that you could be eating in seconds. If you don't feel like grazing the bar, you can have someone come to the table to order. I took that route this weekend (hard to carry sushi back to the table with my rambunctious toddler at my knees) and the service was fast, and super friendly.
The menus is pretty basic and organized into $2.99, $3.99, or $5.99 plates. The boy and absolutely destroyed 2 of the $2.99 salmon plates (4 pieces), some crispy gyoza (deepfried and rather small but only $3.99), a couple of simple maki rolls ($2.99), and soup ($2.00). This is not your fine dining sushi experience (I probably wouldn't go there for a leisurely supper) but was miles better than rolling through a drive through, and left me more primed for outdoor fun than if we'd stopped for a grease-bomb at one of the local pubs.
I also noticed that they are open until midnight and offer a special light night menu featuring all manner of grilled and deepfried things. I don't know that I'd be hitting that up much these days, but would be a great change from Doritos and chicken fingers for those red-eyed revelers looking to quell the munchies. read more
