Was pleasantly surprised to find Korean food all the way in Banff. Deco has a lot of cute Korean elements, like Andong Hahoe masks. The Hangover Soup was a hearty breakfast, and the service was fast and attentive. The soup had very little meat and was mostly MSG-ish broth and bean sprouts. Price is reasonable.

Excellent food. Excellent service. The Kelbi was so good. The sides were delicious. I love the kimchi cabbage. The oxtail bone broth was also great.

Rating is more of a 3.5 but Im rounding up for the friendly server. We were craving Korean food during our trip, and this was the only available option near us. The service is really slow, and the bathroom was out of order. The food is a little more than decent. I ordered the galbi tang which was the only yummy dish for me and the kbbq was okay. The cast iron ended up boiling the meat rather than grilling it so that was a bummer but the meat was marinated well. We didn't get to finish our second portion of meat because the server took too long to come back to our table. Totally not his fault because the place is definitely understaffed. He kindly helped us cancel the second order and gave us the check. Will I come back? Yes, for the galbi tang. LOL

I drove from Seattle all the way to Banff. It was exhausting but, the beauty on the way just took over my tiredness. However, my body asked for a good energy meal and was craving for a Korean food. And there it was, Seoul Country Restaurant in middle of Banff downtown. They are the oldest Korean restaurant in here and different than how it was before (over 30 years ago) it got lot more better in terms of a shape. I ordered Do-ga-ni Tang. Is a Tendon in Ox Bone Broth. Nowadays every health conscious people asks for a Bone Broth and they are pretty expensive in markets. Just remember, you will find them much cheaper and healthier in Korean restaurants who serves them and for a bonus, this broth had a Tendon "Collagen!!!" Anyway, the food arrived and had the first sip. It was good as it can get. Their method is pretty traditional and I can say they keep the Korean Style intact even in this far up in the mountains. The Ban-Chan (Side dish) was very fresh and tasty. I check other foods in the menu and definitely it looked good. Inside ambiance of the restaurant is also somewhat similar to some of the city side restaurants in Korea. The gentlemen who served us was very polite and kind. For those who wants to have some Korean food here, I definitely recommend this restaurant to give a try. Beside the dish I had, there are couple of other foods that will be good for westerners too.

Shared the gamja tang and dukkguk. Craving Korean and this place hit the spot after a long day of exploring. Worth checking out, not sure where these bad reviews come from.

I came here recently while passing through Banff. Food had decent portions and was pretty good. It wasn't anything mind blowing but is comparable to other Korean restaurants. I tried the Ox tail in ox bone broth soup. It came with salt+ pepper seasoning in a small plate and a bowl of rice. Note that the soup by itself is bland so I had to add the seasoning myself to adjust to my likening. Do not add the whole plate of seasoning or else it will be too salty. My partner liked his kimchi pork stew. The spicy stir fry squid was good as well. They were pretty typical Korean dishes. The thing that could be improved is the service. It was a bit disorganized as we saw people who ordered after us get their food first. We were also brought a wrong plate a food that we didn't order.

I would have never expected to find such a great-tasting and authentic Korean restaurant in the heart of a ski resort! Seoul Country is so delicious and comparable to the Korean restaurants in San Diego and Orange County. Everything we ordered was delicious, would definitely come again if I revisit Banff. Definitely disagree with their current 3/5 star rating, great tasting food this restaurant deserves 5/5 stars!!! What I recommend: - Soon Doo Boo (10/10): Broth is extremely flavorful and tasty. Quite spicy, I recommend requesting for a lower spice level if you are less tolerant of spice. Tips: - All soups come complimentary with banchan and one rice bowl (per soup). Do not order banchan and rice off the menu in advance since it is provided with a soup order.

We got seated very quickly as it wasn't busy and they often check in with us. Good and service was great. I got soon du boo, my friend got bibimbap, and the other got ox tail soup. All delicious and authentic.

While we were in Banff last August, we managed to try different restaurants its cheat treat for three days. It was a cold rainy afternoon, so we craved for bbq; glad to see Seoul Country Restaurant. I see some reviews of how disorganized this restaurant was, however so far; we had a good experience here; the waiter was able to seat us, guide us with their menus, keep coming back and assist us on grilling the bbq. Another thing that I remember here would be this is where I appreciate and did love cold noodles. We had; Bibim Naengmyeon ($18) we were skeptical about ordering this, but for a change, we wanted to try something different. Surprisingly we all liked the icy, chewy, slightly sweet, vinegary, spicy taste. It was my second time eating cold noodles, which made me want more. Any restaurant with cold noodles to recommend here in Vancouver? Soon Doo Boo ($18) has an excellent soothing taste; Tufo was soft and refreshing. Haemul Pajun ($25) savory pancake with lots of scallion and seafood; it was a large serving. We only had a taste each, then took home the rest; it was still delicious after microwaving the next day. Wang Kalbi ($38) is well marinated and so tasty, with lots of side dishes that come with it. Overall, our bbq craving was satisfied. I think it's a bit high in price, but this is Banff, so yea, not sure if there are other Korean restaurants aside from them. So in case you are on vacation there, check them out.

Hits the Korean street food craving! So happy we found this place during our travels in Banff…read more We went during a raining weeknight and it was fairly crowded. At first the restaurant felt small but when you go in further you do notice they have sufficient seating. The restaurant is divided into two sections. When you first walk in you order your main meal at the counter straight ahead from the entrance. To order specialty drinks and deserts you go to the other section of the restaurant to your right. We ordered the bulgogi chicken bowl, the fried chicken bowl, vegetarian chicken bowls and a couple of mozzarella corn dogs. They were all very good. You can pick the level of spiciness and they have extra sauces near the counter that you can add to your bowl. We also ordered one of the bingsu (strawberry flavored shaved ice with ice cream, and fresh strawberries). It was really tasty. We also had the muscat grape drink. It does come carbonated and a little sweeter than anticipated. Overall we were happy with our meal. Happy enough that we are planning on going again before having to leave the area.

Everything is served in a paper cup, and you can decide if you want to dine-in at one of their small tables or take it to-go. Bowl #1 Korean BBQ bowl was the best, with marinated beef, egg strips, salad, and white rice. The menu said it was pork, but it tasted like beef to us. Bowl #6 Korean fried chicken and dumplings bowl was not bad, but the fried chicken wasn't Korean fried chicken. Korean fried chicken usually has a crispy coating and sometimes with a sweet and spicy glaze. Their "Korean fried" chicken had neither (1/2 star off). I still enjoyed the bowl, but it was more like a regular chicken and dumplings bowl. You can request to top your own sauce. They have bottles of garlic mayo, sweet chili sauce, ketchup, etc. in front for you to add as much as you want. This also means that the tables can be left with smears of random sauces. The staff does not clean tables (1/2 star off), so I had to do a thorough wipe-down of a sticky table before sitting down. After your meal, you can also try their bingsoo (Korean shaved ice). Those are probably sticky too...

The place was pretty busy when we arrived for dinner. Things we tried: - Agedashi Tofu: fried tofu with a warm dashi. It was light and the dashi had nice flavor. (3.5/5 stars) - Karaage Chicken: the chicken was tender and well-seasoned. (3.5/5 stars) - Edamame: the edamame arrived at the end of our meal which was odd. It was also not cooked well and tasted like it could have been frozen and then warmed up. Disappointing. (1/5 stars) - Shoku Roll: the roll was pretty good with the salmon on top and negitoro inside. I wish they used less of the sauce and mayo on top or put it on the side instead, because it was a lot and was overpowering the fish. (4/5 stars) - Salmon Oyako Bowl: I liked the raw salmon and salmon roe part, however the cooked salmon was overcooked. The bowl also lacked flavor and required soy sauce, though I wish there was a different sauce to add to it. (4/5 stars) Overall for the food, it's okay. I'm from California so we have better food so I'm trying not to be too critical knowing it's in Banff. It's nice to have an izakaya spot in downtown Banff though. Service: mixed. The waiter was nice, however they seemed under-staffed. He had too many tables so service was slow and we struggled with flagging him down when we needed a refill or the check.

The inside is very small and everyone sits around the conveyor belt. It is first come first serve so plan ahead if you wanna beat the lunch/dinner rushes. We went around 1:30 and it took us maybe ~40 minutes to get seated for a party of six (we didn't want to be separated). There is a sushi chef in the middle who makes the sushi right in front of you which is pretty entertaining. As for ordering, you can either ask the chef or your server. They are always putting different things on the conveyor belt so there is always an assortment of sushi to try. We weren't a fan of the sashimi but we did order a lot of the rolls. Their spicy ahi is different from what we're used to - it's just plain ahi with a drop of sriracha on top. Our favorite roll was probably the deep fried shrimp roll and California roll. You can't go wrong with that. We ordered the seaweed salad and potato croquette a couple of times. Price wise it's pretty expensive for the amount and quality that you get. All the food on the menu ranges from about $4.95-$7.95. IMO you're paying for the experience - sushi chef in front of you, conveyor belt, plates on a sushi train. There is one server for the restaurant because the seating area is so small, but the staff in general is pleasant. It's OK but hits the spot if you want a little sushi fix.
