Lemongrass chicken vermicelli
Amelia S.

Pretty good Vietnamese food, served quick. The portions are generous as well. DH got chicken pho, which he said tasted better than Pho House chicken pho. However, he could feel the MSG hit him afterwards. The chicken vermicelli was tasty. I liked how they offered peanut sauce with the dish. It was filling and hit the spot. Peak Cafe offers several other Vietnamese dishes like Banh Mi sandwiches and rice plates, along with sweet drinks. Overall a pretty solid option in town.

A hidden gem in plain sight in Banff! The Vietnamese food here is absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned. Every dish we tried was a hit. Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a satisfying and authentic meal. 11/10

Rare beef pho

While walking around the town of Banff, we got hungry and decided to stop here for lunch! I had the rare beef pho and my friend had the beef tender pho, both were huge and delicious! There were only 2 staff, but the service was quick! I also had the matcha latte, I really didn't taste too much of the matcha!

Overall experience: 4 Affordability: 4 Customer service: 4 Location: 5 Cleanliness: 3 Quality: 4 We visited this Vietnamese restaurant yesterday while we were sightseeing the Banff town center. It was conveniently located in the pedestrian area, and we were drawn to it because of their menu and prices posted outside. Upon entering the restaurant we noticed that they offer a dinner for two, so we decided to place our order. We also decided to stay in the restaurant to eat our selections. The staff was very friendly and very professional. We enjoyed our selections but felt like it was a little salty. We did like the portion sizes, and we were not able to eat all of our food. So our overall dining experience was good, and we would probably return for another visit. The main reason why we gave them a 4 rating, was because the food was kind of salty and the facility was not be maintained to a high standard of cleanliness. @glampedlife

Tried some pho and banh mi. The pho was average-it was nice to have some Asian food. The soup was hot and wasn't overly salty. The banh mi was okay- definitely not the best put together banh mi. It was kind of messy to eat. The cilantro was cut in 1/2 inch sections-when cilantro is usually added in as long sprigs.

Peak cafe is good if you are feeling a bit of Vietnamese food however it isn't authentic. It caters to the tourist hence the name and this can also be seen as the menu offers pancakes. Vietnamese with a twist of western. Their subs (Banh Mis) are good and offer the same toppings as an authentic one. The Vietnamese coffee is good but isn't as strong as an authentic one. Vietnamese coffee is known to be strong. I recommend Peak Cafe for the tourist that wants to try something new or is craving a little bit of Vietnamese with a twist of western.

Pho- beef, beef ball and tripe
Michael Y.

Not the greatest but also not the worst. Ordered the pho with beef, meatball and tripe. The broth is on the lighter side and the portion is normal. It was a good bowl for being located in a tourist hotspot. Your greens are already included in the bowl. Our basil leaves were old and we had to pull them out. Zero service other than placing your order. The food came out quick. A cup of water is not included. You must purchase a bottle water. This is a pay first restaurant.

Super Chicken and Beef Sub

We stopped by here for a quick bite to eat and this place is not only spacious but the food is great! We ordered the Super Chicken and Beef Viet Sub and it was packed with meat and diced veggies. Made fresh, hot and full of flavour. We also ordered pork spring rolls as app. Also great! I would definitely come back. Sub was $12 Spring rolls came with 3 - $6

Lemongrass Chicken Vermicelli Bowl

We were in Banff for the weekend with our German car club and happened on the Peak Café. In the mood for Vietnamese, we decided to try this place as opposed to the Vietnamese restaurant just a few blocks north up the street which was more central to the larger crowds wandering about Banff Avenue as the other restaurant had less than positive reviews. At the time that we went (late afternoon), the restaurant was empty, and some staff were just dismantling the outdoor tables with the cooler air settling in. My wife and I opted for the Lemongrass Chicken Rice Vermicelli Bowl and were offered the choice of 2 sauces, peanut sauce and fish sauce. We decided on one of each. The bowls arrived at our table and looked fresh, with reasonable portions of vegetables and chicken pieces, as well as 2 pork spring rolls. As we had previously asked about the spiciness of the Lemongrass chicken, the Satay, and the Curry, the hostess also brought a container of chili oil with the peanut and fish sauce without us having to ask. Other sauces available at the table were the standard hoisin and Sriracha. We had just enough of the sauces to share and I suspect we would have been provided with more if requested. The spring rolls were crisp and tasty and the pieces of chicken were good, though we both thought they could have benefitted from a stronger lemongrass flavour, and the peanuts in the description could have been more plentiful. Still good however and this satisfied our craving for Vietnamese cuisine at a reasonable price. Had we been in town a few days longer, we would have tried the pho and maybe a few other items on the fairly extensive menu. As an avid home cook, it had me wanting to re-create something similar at home.

Rare beef pho, extra beef
Tiffany C.

Came here after biking all day and was starving! They have a huge menu of all kinds of things. I choose the rare beef pho and my friend had the chicken vermicelli noodles. My pho was very tasty with tons of noodles! I ordered extra beef and was satisfied with the amount provided. The chicken vermicelli noodles was good as well, my friend couldn't think of any improvements. We cleared our plates. Definitely give it a try!

Nice service and great crepes for breakfast. Added iced Vietnamese coffee. Maple syrup (instead of Nutella with the fruit was a winner.

I initially wasn't interested in waiting in a long line for ice cream. But later decided to check them out at the end of my trip to satisfy my curiosity. Plus it was a warm day and I had already finished all of my shopping. Cows is located in the heart of Downtown Banff and is known for their hand-made premium ice cream. Cows has a variety of flavors with fun creative names like the Gooey Mooey, Cownadien Maple and Wowie Cowie. The people in line were really excited to be experiencing this place. I also noticed Cows has a large gift shop area that sells cow-themed merchandise and apparel. There was a lot of cool stuff to check out in the store. I grabbed my coffee flavored Caramel Moocchiato ice cream and one of their snack items and spent time in the gift shop. Overall, Cows was a fun experience and I am glad a was able to squeeze this place in at the end of my trip.

Our friends had walked the area prior and knew about this ice cream shop. So... we get out of dinner without dessert with the express idea of coming to Cows. It was a good decision. We took a walk there through beautiful downtown Banff, basically just following the people in front of us and them. Cows is well known with a very loyal following. Lots of people walking in and a fairly robust line moving very quickly. You walk into a store with lots of different products. We came in with the express idea of some cones. I don't remember the flavor (not my regular chocolate) but this ice cream is good... really good. Not even remembering the flavor I can tell you that is was rich and packed with flavor. Enjoyed every bit of it. After paying, we all strolled out and back down the street to the bus eating our delicious ice cream cones. KUDOs to the team at COWS.

Beavertails came up and we saw they had shops within Banff, so we decided to try them out after our lunch. They had a flavor called "mEHple" and since maple syrup is also a Canada staple, we figured this would be a good pick. What we didn't notice was the chocolate drizzle that was on top of the maple syrup in the menu photo. The chocolate overwhelmed the entire dessert, and was a bit too much for our group. The pastry was good, crispy and flaky, but we really couldn't get through the entire thing without getting a huge bite of chocolate syrup. I think if they had put less chocolate, or even removed the chocolate altogether and just left the maple syrup, that would've been way better!

Since maple is also something that screams Canada, we opted for the mEHple flavor. Unfortunately, it was a bit of a letdown. The pastry itself was good as it was light and flaky but still crispy, and we enjoyed the maple flavor. However, there was so much chocolate drizzled onto it that all we could taste was the overwhelming Hershey's chocolate drizzle-like taste. We didn't notice the chocolate drizzle on the menu photo, although I noticed there are a few different menus floating around, and some show the chocolate drizzle while others don't. However I saw a photo uploaded from a different Yelper of their mEHple pastry, and they had way less chocolate on theirs. I think it had to potential to be delicious, but it's just unfortunate that it was loaded with so much chocolate to the point where we couldn't really taste anything else. There were 6 of us that shared one BeaverTail and yet we couldn't even finish it. Overall, it was cool to try a uniquely Canadian dessert, but would recommend staying away from the ones with chocolate drizzle...or at least asking the staff to go light on the drizzle.
