Nourish Bistro in Banff, Alberta, is one of the exceptionally rare vegetarian restaurants that genuinely makes me feel like I could give up meat without sacrificing flavor. (The only other spot to ever pull this off for me is Verde Rekado in Coron, Philippines!). Cucumber Salad ($9.99 CAD): This was wonderfully refreshing and reminded me of lightly pickled Korean cucumber side dishes, bursting with savory garlic and umami flavors of fish sauce. Char Siu Marinated Tofu ($4.44 CAD): They managed to perfectly capture the iconic sweet-and-savory flavor profile of Char Siu pork without any actual "porkiness." The tofu was beautifully firm, perfectly cooked, and thoroughly marinated inside and out. The Nourishment Bowl ($24.24 CAD): This bowl is large, and I paired it was the Char Siu Marinated Tofu. The brilliant addition of a subtle coconut cream, paired with roasted vegetables and quinoa, perfectly softened the rough texture of the raw shredded carrots and greens; This combination elevates this bowl so that you don't feel like you're "just eating a salad" for dinner. Tempura Tacos ($17.17 CAD): These tacos were absolutely divine! Nourish restaurant has somehow mastered the art of frying avocados so that the batter is flawlessly crispy on the outside, while the inside remains warm, rich, and smooth. If I could eat these in Los Angeles, I would honestly never miss battered fish tacos again. Summer Shoyu Ramen ($22.22 CAD): Featuring a deeply comforting, hearty roasted garlic and soy broth. They brilliantly give the broth a slightly velvety, thicker-than-water body with just the right amount of oil. It completely tricks your palate into thinking it was simmered for hours with meaty bones, rather than being a boring, thin vegan soup. I wish we had such an amazing vegetarian restaurant like Nourish in Los Angeles!! read more

Vegetarians and Vegans Rejoice..... On the same day my family of 5 from California had a great lunch at Banff Social, we went back to town for a late dinner at Nourish Bistro. What great food! Overall: 5 - Location: 5 - Exterior: 4 - Ambiance: 4 - Menu: 5+ - Food: 5+ - Service: 5 - Price and Value: 5 - Bathroom: 3 - Parking: 3 Pros: - Location: Convenient to the downtown area. In the midst of everything. - Exterior: Small, but with an inviting outdoor patio. - Ambiance: Casual. A vegan/vegetarian restaurant with the look and feel of the 1960s and 70s. I was around and that's a good thing. - Menu: Creative and inventive. Who says vegans and vegetarians can't be delivered great choices? - Food: Unbelievably good and healthy. I ordered the Nourishment Bowl with an extra Falafel ($20) which had a variety of super ingredients. Filling and tasty! One of those each day and I'll live to 100. My wife had Tempura Tacos ($16)...a plate of 3 large and, of course, healthy tacos. So big she gave one away. Others orders included a Nourishment Bowl with extra Tofu ($26)...Cucumber Salad with Tofu ($17)...and Summer Shoyu Ramen with Tofu and Chili Oil ($30). Nobody could believe how good these were...especially with preconceived notions of vegan dishes. - Service: Very good. Our server, "PM", was friendly, informative and helpful. - Price and Value: Not cheap, but reasonable Cons: - Bathroom: As with many small restaurants, the bathrooms are shared with other establishments. No problem. But it was kind of far away and not the cleanest. - Parking: You'll probably need to walk a few blocks since the downtown core of Banff has many more shops than parking spaces. Not only would we recommend Nourish for dinner, but we ordered take-out for lunch the next day and THAT was great! read more

Pure veggie place - they always ask you if you want things vegan as well. Very unique menu - they have taken an asian twist and have unique dishes like cucumber with peanuts and kimchi burger and the world famous nacho with 27 items (including orange, strawberry and mango plus lentils etc). The outdoor seating during summer while looking at the Rocky Mountains was spectacular- bring some mosquitoes spray / they will enjoy biting you, while you enjoy the food :) The service was great - we asked for extra ice and they got it - we hung out late and the staff was so accommodating. 5/5 for service! The food for me was 3/5 and the ambiance was 5/5. read more

We ate here every night we were in Banff! Sure, there's lots of options, but this was where I felt the most comfortable eating, vegan options and knowing that my food would not be crossed contaminated. Service was excellent! Staff were so friendly impatient with us even when they were so busy most nights. We were creative and got something different to try each night and we liked everything. Something else we like more than others and would get over and over again and that includes the mushroom ravioli, cheesy gnocchi, the purple haze smoothie and kimchi burger. And I believe my husband really enjoyed his legume burger and I enjoyed my falafel salad however I substituted my falafel's for tofu. Ambience is great not too loud indoor and outdoor seating. Good for individuals or large groups. read more

This is an EXCELLENT fine-dining vegan eatery. This was such a delicious treat and experience to have in Banff. We went one night for dinner and another night we came back for dessert. As a big ravioli enthusiast, I was amazed by the delicious and creative approach to the vegan ravioli, loved the strawberry!! And my husband really enjoyed the ramen. We got vegan ice cream one night and the chocolate raspberry cup another night, highly recommend! Service was smooth and quick, the staff are friendly and kind. What a view to eat outside and be surrounded by the mountains. read more

This was a flavorful, somewhat fusion ramen. The broth was definitely good, but not quite a traditional Japanese shoyu taste if that's what you're expecting. But it works really well! The weather was also amazing and sitting outside in front of the mountains... that experience is hard to top. read more

Super cool vibes, interesting decor, cool lighting. Loved sitting inside even though it was super nice outside. Servers were friendly despite it being close to closing time. Dimly lit but not super dark. As a vegetarian, I loved all the options on the menu. I got the quinoa mac n cheeze which was super delicious. I wasn't as enthused about the broccoli tempura or polenta fries my partner got, they were kind of dense. I'd still go back to try more things, though! I got one cocktail that was awesome. read more

Had lunch here and while getting seated was a bit of an adventure, and the service justvokay, the food was very good. Tempura broccoli and kimchi burgers were a huge hit. We ate on the patio, which was nice. I'd come here again. read more

Great menu variety, and very creative. We ordered the Vietnamese noodles with all if the add-ons. I don't usually love tofu; I was pleasantly surprised that the char siu (Asian BBQ pork) seasoned tofu was delicious! We also enjoyed sitting outside and the service was friendly and attentive. read more

This was the only fully vegetarian spot we found in Banff--though not entirely vegan, as they serve eggs and dairy, most dishes can be made vegan. The host mentioned it could be hard to get a table in the evening, but we decided to try our luck. Even though the place was almost full, we didn't have to wait at all. The staff was incredibly friendly and walked us through all the specials. We ordered the Watermelon Sugar High and the Green Tea Gin and Tonic--both were excellent. For food, we tried the ramen, which was a bit underwhelming, and the wild mushroom ravioli, which was much better. Overall, I'd recommend this place for the wide variety of vegetarian and vegan options and the warm, accommodating service, though the food itself was more on the average side. read more

Service: amazing Ambiance: casual and cool Food: 1) world famous Nachos: it was ok 2) kimchi burger: no kimchi flavors - patty was hard and tasted more like potato, sweet chili dressing and side of fries were the best part 3) tempura broccoli: it came highly recommended by our waitress but it was essentially broccoli drenched in chickpea flour with too much carom seeds. The final product was very drying and oily. I would skip this place for the above items, maybe something else might be good, but I haven't tried them. read more

I'm pretty much a carnivore, so I was skeptical about having brunch here, but it turned out well. Service was good, the outside patio was a great place to eat, and most importantly the food was yummy! I had an omelette with cheese and mushrooms, which was good, but the best part was the potatoes - each cube was slightly crunchy on the outside and melty on the inside. read more

Came here for cocktails and olives. Love the big green olives, served warm - has pits. The menu no longer had the one I wanted but once I mentioned this to the bartender he said he could make it as they have the old recipes! - Kyoto Sunrise 12/10 best cocktail in town. Anti-everything - 8/10 Gone south - 10/10, was really surprised how much I liked this one too. In the weeds - me 6/10, boyfriend 9/10 wayyy to strong flavor for me but i admit very unique taste. read more

Half restaurant half bar? Either way, the service was very friendly & the food was good. It's all vegetarian or vegan but there are so many options. The portions were also very generous. I had the kimchi burger & it was very flavorful, which I think mostly comes from all the sauces they have to use. My friend & I shared the poutine & it had a little twist to it. read more

Food and service are amazing! We are not vegan but the food was truly delicious. Service was great and Caleb is the best!!!

We arrived around 8pm for dinner on June 9th. While most of the staff were friendly, there was one waitress (wearing all black, backwards cap & pigtails, & a gruff voice) who made it very unpleasant for us. I thought she might be playing real life diner dash because she performed drive-by service (asking us and other tables "Is the food good?" While walking fast and we barely had time to answer). When we mentioned to her that the mushroom ravioli was undercooked and pointed out the white hard bit of pasta that hadn't been cooked, she said "I'll see what I can do" and stepped inside for half a second before coming back to our table and saying, "No, nothing I can do sooorrry." It made us question whether she was wanted to create the illusion that she was doing something about it. After that, without even telling us, she stopped serving us and another waiter began to serve us. It was so bizarre. The food itself was OK. We wanted to support a vegan/ vegetarian restaurant but the experience left a bad taste in our mouth. read more

I came here for a nice birthday lunch and it was such a wonderful meal. The ambiance here is wonderful with all of the unique lighting and fantastic music. We ordered several appetizers including the gyoza, hummus plate and nachos. They were all so good but I really loved the vegan nachos! For my main course I had the ramen salad with tofu and it was wholesome, refreshing and tasty. Even though we all gorged ourselves, we all felt amazing after! Vegan food is always so satisfying and the food at nourish is especially satisfying and leaves you feeling revitalized afterwards. Our server was very kind, down to earth and offered great hiking suggestions. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, whether you're vegan or not! read more

100% recommend going to this restaurant even if you're not vegan/vegetarian. The vibe was chill and the ambiance was beautiful! The owner was really sweet. The service was fast! Coming to the food part, I would highly recommend getting the Kimchi burger. It was so flavorful and good size burger. Loved every bite of it. The fries that came along with were freshly made. We also ordered the Avocado smash with side of Chickpea omelette. It was really yum too! I had the iced chocolate chai. Again so refreshing and a great drink to pair with burger. Definitely going back next time we visit Banff! read more

Wonderful. The ramen dishes here are exceptional - even by Japanese ramen shop standards. The fact this restaurant does not necessarily specialize in ramen (or even japanese food) and is putting out this level of legit noodles is incredible. The fact that its vegan? Even more mind blowing. We were in a noodle-mood, so while my review may be somewhat myopic, our cucumber starter, our drinks, and the dessert were also fantastic. I should not fail to mention the hospitality we were shown which was nothing short of stellar. Everyone working here from the servers, hostess, and owner were delightful human beings that were not faking it. You can tell its a nice place to work and they care - and that energy comes out in the food and how you feel at the end. This restaurant was a highlight on a month long trip through the rockies and maritimes. I would not only hesitate to say if your vegan its the best food in the area - it may be one of the better gems in general for the omnivores. The rest of Banff is pretty corporate-y on the food level and this was clearly owner operated and full of love. Must visit. read more

Blown away by how delicious the food was! Our server, Jack, was incredibly friendly and made great recommendations. We got the gyoza, kimchi burger, nourishment bowl, and fruit bowl. During our Banff adventure, we stumbled upon Nourish Bistro and decided to give it a whirl. So glad to know that there is a vegan/vegetarian establishment offering in town. We ordered the King Kong noodles and were able to share it between the two of us. We both felt satiated as the portion was a good size. I gotta say, I was a little off put about the mandarins addition, but they were declicious little bursts of citrusy goodness. I'll be adding this zesty twist to my own dishes from now on! The only complaint I have is the optional tofu. At an additional cost, we had to give it a pass, as the price felt a tad steep. It would be a dream if the tofu could be included given you're already paying $30. Vegans want protein too! We eyed a lot of the dishes around us and defintely wish we had more time to visit again. Defintely the next time we are visiting! read more

Chose this place for my birthday lunch as they offer vegan dishes and glad I did! I ordered the kimchi burger and was very happy with it; all fresh, great flavor. My husband (a meat fan) ordered the potstickers and said those were the best potstickers he ever had! Then he ordered the trio of dips which he said were okay. My kids had mac'n'cheese, non-vegan, and did not like it (I tasted it and it was rather bland.) Service was great and I very much enjoyed my meal! read more

We walked in for brunch on a weekend while visiting Banff. We got their masala omelettes with roasted potatoes, aloo paratha and fried eggs. The food was fresh with the right amount of char on the veggies & potatoes. We got their passion fruit cheesecake for dessert, and were pleasantly surprised by the texture and flavors of it. The service was great but the ambiance was a bit dark and the ventilation was poor. The food was delicious though! read more

Came for drinks and a place to sit since this place seemed to be one of the few places open slightly later than the rest in Banff. My group ordered a wide variety of offerings on the menu, from the falafel salad to tea and beer and cider. One standout was their soup of the day, which was decribed as a potato mushroom soup. Definitely heavier on the mushroom and difficult to describe. We all tried it and we're still not sure if we liked it. Drinks were standard and had a decent variety. The falafel salad was alright. Staff was accomodating for our group of 7 and we lucked out getting their "private room" which was a booth in the back. read more

Being plant based makes dining while traveling difficult, but finding this gem of a restaurant absolutely made my day. Nourish Bistro is a fun funky establishment with an incredible menu that is plant, vegan and veggie friendly. We ordered the gyoza, vegan poutine, tempura broccoli and the king kong noodles. I asked for a recommendation for cocktails and was not disappointed; ordered something with watermelon (can't remember the name) and it was ridiculously delicious! Each of the food items had a wonderful flavor profile, but the gyoza was my favorite. The service was superb and the ambiance was welcoming and warm; maybe bring the volume down on the music, but still enjoyable. The highlight was that I am also traveling with my pup and he was welcomed INSIDE...this overwhelmed him, but he behaved. We will be back. Definitely recommend this restaurant if you're in the Banff area! read more

I've been to Nourish three times, each were excellent experiences. The first time was by luck, having tried countless spots beforehand for a table, busy night in Banff. The next two were deliberate, having enjoyed the food and having a daughter with diet restrictions. This review is really about the 3rd visit that we pretty much drove an hour specifically for lunch at Nourish. Seems excessive but if you are vegan or have dietary restrictions it offers a unique dining experience. As with all the visits, food and service was excellent. The staff is very friendly and you get the feeling your all part of some sort of vegan sorority (says the male carnivore). On this particular visit, all the food was excellent. The Mac'n'Squeeze is one of the best pastas I've ever had, vegan or otherwise. I do find the prices high but I appreciate that delivering this quality of vegan, gluten-free, or vegetarian food isn't cheap. World Famous Nachos are beautiful, delicious, and shareable, but by the time you add a couple of sides you'll be over $30. Overall we spent almost as much for lunch as we'd normally spend for a decent dinner, however it is a unique experience so it's a judgement call, especially for those with dietary restrictions, whether the prices are worth it. We visited on one of the coldest days of the year and since the place just opened, it was freezing inside and a lot of the food and drinks were coming to the table cold. Also, we felt seating was a bit tight for the COVID situation. These may not be long term concerns, but enough to warrant a rating of four, even though the food is definitely a five. Definitely will be back to try more of the menu, maybe post-COVID (if that's even a thing!) and on a warmer day. read more

We're enjoying four days in Banff and have found ourselves brunching and lunching at Nourish every day so far! My husband is vegan and this place should be your first stop if you are interested in plant-based or vegetarian bites and delights. On our first visit, in the midst of a seven mile hike, I enjoyed the smashed avo which was a delightful DIY avocado toast with four pieces of toasted focaccia and lovely toppings to try and find your perfect combination. Ask for the hot sauce as it brightened every bite. My husband enjoyed the v(egg)ie bowl with chickpea "scrambled egg" pancakes. The "butter" mushrooms and garlicky sautéed spinach were the highlights of this dish for us! Day two we came in for a late lunch after a spa day and I enjoyed the ramen salad with extra dressing while my partner-in-crime devoured the green lentil soup and the signature mushroom ravioli. The bread was a lovely accompaniment to the soup as well. We finished our meal as the sun finally emerged from behind the clouds with the nutella cheesecake which was gone in an instant. The service here is so gracious and attentive that we will definitely be back in before heading home in a few days! read more
