This place was in our neighborhood and was open late. We went in and ordered the chicken malai tikka, kadhai chicken, and rotis! Loved the taste of the food. The tikkas were soft and cooked to perfection in the tandoor. The kadhai chicken was also delicious, not oily which I liked. My only dislike would be the green colored coriander chutney. Looked like it had food color.

The food, service, and the ambiance were incredible. The food was so good we went THREE days in a row and asked to meet the chef! Generous portions, great spice levels and flavours. A must visit if you're in the area, especially after a day of skiing. The law of diminishing experiential returns does not apply here. It is that good.

Whenever I go to Banff, I always eat at this East Indian restaurant. It's located in heart of Canmore. The ambience is relaxing and inviting. They also offer take out. It is little pricey, but you can't complain as it's a premium tourist place. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They always ask for your spice level and let you know about the dishes. This time we ordered takeout. We took Palak Paneer, garlic naan and tandoori fish combo( it comes with grilled fish marinated in Indian spices, rice, butter sauce and salad ). Both dishes were fresh and flavourful and even naan were crispy from outside and soft from inside. The lady at the counter also gave me disposable cutlery. Overall perfect meal and good service.

This is my new favorite in Canmore! The Chicken in each portion was moist and flavorful! Just enough spice, yet not overbearing. I will recommend it to all my friends and family.

Me and my friends with our incredible dishes. Mine was chicken korma with garlic naan. (Closest on the right).

Let me tell you everything you need to know about this place. First off, I want you to know I am a true Yelp believer. If I see something with only 3.5 stars, I'm not likely to go there unless I'm desperate. But let me tell you something: the 3.5 star ratings for this restaurant don't give the place the credit it deserves. I would rate this place a 4 or 4.5 star restaurant. Here's why: Pros: 1. AMAZING FOOD. My friends and I all appreciate good food. We came to Canmore for a spring break trip, and needed to find somewhere to eat quick. We saw the Spice Hut and we were amazed. The food tasted as closely to authentic Indian food as you can in a place like Canmore. The chicken literally melted in our mouths, and the giant piece of naan comes out fresh and flaky on the outside, but light on the inside. Everything about the food was incredible. 2. Very knowledgeable waitress. Our waitress is a local who said she came to the restaurant regularly for 6 years before getting a job there. She has tried almost everything on the menu. If you want more detail about what makes the dishes different, ask your waiter or waitress. The menu is very simple and doesn't explain well enough what makes each dish unique, so if you want to make sure you get something you appreciate, just ask. It usually has to do with what spices the dish has as well as the way it is prepared. Cons: They charge you for rice and naan. It's really not a huge deal considering how great the food is, but most Indian places include that in the overall price of the dish. It wasn't that much more (I think the rice was $0.60 and the naan was $2.50 per piece). This could be a pro for some people who don't actually want the naan or the rice with their dish, and don't want to have to pay for it. Extra bonus: we accidentally left our leftovers at the restaurant, and they saved it for us rather than throwing it away! The waitresses there know how valuable the food is. So, there you have it. If this place didn't charge extra for rice then I would have given it 5 stars, which is saying a lot. I hope this review helps you make the best decision on which Indian place to choose from while in Canmore.

Yes yes yes. I love curry and I love this place! I've had many great curries in my life and this definitely hit the spot. I got the coconut chicken curry with a level 4/5 spice with garlic naan and rice. Super super tasty with lots of spices! We picked up for delivery which made our eating even more convenient!!! Decently priced too.

Friendly staff, decent decor and okay food. The server and staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was fresh, although wasn't authentic. That said, It was great to have an Indian meal option in a small town like Canmore. We had their Kadhai Paneer which was spelled "karahi " on the menu, Chana masala and butter roti (Their Naan breads have egg in them hence we couldn't try those). Paneer gravy was partially cooked with onion overload and the Chana in Chana masala was a bit undercooked. Rotis were good, they stinged on the butter for our first order, second order was better. Best part of the meal was their Rasmalai, not sure if they made it or was pre made - but was quite good. Overall, quality of food did not match the price (Specially coming from California, were you get best food for dirt cheap prices) The fourth star is for the kitchen staff who served us an extra roti after they had closed kitchen for the day and the server who gave us a complimentary Mother's Day dessert. Thank you :) !!

Some of the best Indian food we have had in a very long time. The dishes were prepared to taste with care. The Aloo Gobi was mostly caulifower with few potatoes, fresh and cooked just enough, not to mushy. The Mint Chicken Tandoori Tiki was suburb, served on rice and we loved the mint sauce and the tandoori sauce. Nice light salad dressing on salad of lettuce, tomates and cucumbers. The Veggie Pakora was so rich and made even better with the sweet sauce. The waitress was very sweet and we enjoyed our early lunch on outside in the sun. Perfect!

We were in town on vacation and decided to try this place out. We were the two of the only people in there but the service was still slow. The food however was good and made up for that fact. Got my husband to try new things so that's always a plus. If we're ever in Canmore again, we'll stop in.

Very underwhelming. Super greasy vegetable jalfrezis, could hear the hostess shouting at staff and service was slow. Won't be returning.

Gorgeous interior with two dining areas with a view of an open kitchen in between. Huge assortment of food from appetizers to pizza to smaller and larger dishes. Ate family style and tried all the food. The pickled brined chicken was a highlight - so flavourful and could be made into a lettuce wrap. The cabbage was surprisingly good. Service was fantastic. Only strange thing was the hours. Not open until 2 pm.

Whenever we host family or friends, we make sure to include an evening at Crazyweed--because we truly enjoy it that much. I've recommended it to countless people visiting Canmore and have left many glowing reviews over the years. I'm genuinely grateful to have such an elevated restaurant in our town. This week, we actually dined at Crazyweed twice. Our Wednesday experience was exactly what we've come to expect: incredible food and warm, attentive service. I shared a positive review afterward. Unfortunately, our Saturday visit for a party of five was very different. While the food was, as always, outstanding--kudos to the chef and kitchen team--the service was surprisingly disappointing. We arrived ten minutes late for our 5:45 p.m. reservation, which I fully acknowledge. However, our server (a shorter woman with long reddish-brown hair) seemed irritated from the moment we sat down. She immediately reminded us that our table was booked until 7:45 p.m. and pushed us to order drinks, appetizers, and entrées almost instantly. Throughout the meal she repeated, "because you were late," four or five times. There were no pleasantries, no warmth--only frustration. The only time she seemed pleased was when we asked for the bill. What made this even more confusing was that the restaurant wasn't full; there were multiple empty tables throughout our meal. Her fixation on our being ten minutes late felt unnecessarily harsh. Despite this, we enjoyed our meal and were completely finished well before 7:45 p.m. Our receipt showed 7:27 p.m. Yet another staff member (with long straight dark brown hair) came to our table to tell us we had only eight minutes left "because we were late" and that another reservation needed the table. No one was waiting, and that party had not yet arrived, but we were still ushered out in a way that felt abrupt and unprofessional. When I asked to speak with the manager or owner, the same woman returned only to argue with me about how many times the lateness had been mentioned. There was no apology, no attempt to listen, and no effort to de-escalate the situation. She refused to give her name and was confrontational rather than constructive. These two staff members should not be in customer-facing roles--especially not at a restaurant of Crazyweed's caliber. Their behaviour was disrespectful and completely out of step with the exceptional service we've consistently experienced from the rest of the team. I am deeply disappointed. I have always gone out of my way to support and recommend Crazyweed, which makes this experience all the more upsetting. The food remains extraordinary, but the service we received on Saturday was far below the standard Crazyweed is known for.

The other courses, including the fish and bison with mushrooms, did not have dairy. Sadly, while the food was aesthetic, I have had much better dairy-free food in both Canada and the States. The bison was the only dish that tasted tender and savory to me. The fish did not taste as fresh to me, and the vegan bread was quite inedible, shaped like a rounded brick and tasting like one too. When I asked if there were any other dairy-free bread options, they said no. I hoped the dairy-free dessert would be something unique, but it was another vegan bread brick with jam and a dairy-free ice cream that tasted like freezer ice and sadness. My boyfriend also found his dessert bland. The waiter said there were no other dairy-free dessert options and recommended a drink, which was solid. The two stars are for the cozy, romantic vibes, the lovely Canadian Rockies view, the tender bison, the good drink, and the kind servers. All in all, I sadly would not come back, as only one course and a drink we liked for the price of the prefix was not worth it, especially for our anniversary.
