garlic naan, chicken tikka masala, beef roganjosh, and chicken biriyani

This was our favorite meal in Banff! The service was so good -- our server made sure we were comfortable at our table and were so attentive in refilling all the guest's water. Our server was also great with recommending dishes from the menu. The food here was SO good and is one of the best Indian food we've had. The spice level is accurate -- we ordered mild and the food had just the right amount of kick. Everything was so flavorful and not too oily. The portion size was also decent (especially the biriyani) and we had leftovers. Overall, I highly recommend coming here if you're in banff!

I had a wonderful time at zyka this evening! The food was delicious, the service was attentive, and the place was very well kept. I would highly recommend everything we ordered. We got lamb korma, palak paneer, mysore masala (spicy potato) dosa, and garlic naan. We got it all medium spicy and it was perfectly tingly. For drinks we got mango lassi and lime soda. The lime soda was incredible and the mango lassi was good as well. I have absolutely zero complaints and I'll be returning soon!

Consider this a 3.5 star review. Chicken tikka was surprisingly good for an Indian restaurant catering to a tourist crowd. Rest everything was fairly toned down on flavors and spices as expected. Pista kulfi was a dud!! Certainly frozen for months if not more. Overall I'd still recommend this place if you need a quick Indian food fix while visiting the area. We had such an amazing experience here! The owner was incredibly kind and welcoming, which made us feel right at home. The ambiance was warm and comfortable as well. Being from South India, I was so impressed with how authentic and flavorful everything was--it honestly felt like a taste of home. We ordered the chilli garlic shrimp, butter chicken, Kerala beef stew, lamb dum biriyani, parotta, and naan, and every single dish was delicious. The biriyani in particular blew me away--it's probably one of the best I've ever had. This place is such a hidden gem, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone who loves great food, especially food with amazing flavor and staff with exceptional hospitality. Can't wait to come back and try even more dishes before our trip ends!

The place was packed when we walked in, but the servers were able to move some tables to fit our group, and I am incredibly glad that they did. This may have been the best Indian (fusion) food that I have ever had. The classic dishes were incredible (butter chicken, tikka masala, etc.) but the menus also explores many dishes that I had not tried before. Everything we tasted was delicious, not a single bad dish hit our table. The service felt a little slow at times (but it was also quite busy so it was not a major concern for us) and we were offered some free bread to make up for the wait time. Highly recommend if you at passing through Banff!!

One of our favorite meals in Banff. This place was busy and majority of the clientele was South Asian so we took it as a telltale sign that this place is good. We called ahead to ask if they serve halal meat and they do! We were worried about not being able to eat here as we arrived less than half an hour before closing but when we came in they were plenty busy and had no issue seating us. They seated us out on the balcony which was equipped with space heaters and a beautiful view of Mount Rundle. We ordered the tandoori chicken, butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, tandoori roti, butter naan, jeera rice, and rasmalai for dessert. It was a lovely meal. Tandoori chicken came on a sizzling platter and all the dishes were seasoned beautifully. My Pakistani husband had no complaints. Everything tasted great and we had leftovers for the next day.

    Butter chicken was so good!

Really good food and service. I had the Baingan bharta but it was too salty for my taste. They took it back and gave me a new order of something else no questions asked. I was so grateful. I got the butter chicken instead and it was delicious.

Vegetable korma - medium heat. So dang delicious

Hands down the best meal we have enjoyed in Banff. Super cordial and attentive staff who took a genuine interest if the meal was to our liking. Beautiful views from the second floor patio. The Vegetable Korma was outstanding - perfect amount of heat. We asked for medium and it was perfect. The Lamb Vindaloo was also delicious - we ordered it spicy and they were spot on with the level of heat. Naan and rice were also good. We took our leftovers to go in nice plastic sealable containers - they offered us plastic utensils (which we didn't need but shows you how super thoughtful they are). Looks like they have a lunch buffet - sorry we missed it. Highly recommend.

Dine-in was looking packed for dinner on a weekend and we did not want to deal with parking so we ordered to go. About 1hr wait for food, but wait for dine-in would have been roughly about the same + additional time to make food. 9/10 Butter chicken $19 - Super rich and creamy! Combines the savory, spicy, and sweet flavor profile well. Packed with lots of flavor and large chunks of chicken. Chicken was dry was the only downside. 8/10 Chicken tikka masala $19 - More on the savory side than sweet compared to butter chicken. Flavor is not as good, but still ok dish. Same problem with dry chicken. 7/10 Palak paneer $19 - Average dish, but they made this one very spicy compared to all the others! 8/10 Roganjosh $21 - Interesting savory flavor profile. Lamb was tender and not gamey. 7/10 Goat curry $21 - Goat was a bit gamey. Overall still ok in terms of gravy flavor. 10/10 Coconut Rum Mango Lassi $12 - Ordered this while waiting and it was BOMB. Highly recommend! The mango flavor was very natural and sweet. Coconut made it cream like lassi and the alcoholic content was just right! Not too strong and still had all the flavors of mango, yogurt, and coconut.

Wonderful Indian food at Zyka. Hospitality is excellent. The tandoori platter was amazing! Everything was so juicy and flavorful - especially loved the fish and malai tikka. The palak paneer was also superb - super creamy and the paneer was nice and soft. Also must get the garlic naan. Overall, outstanding Indian food in Banff! Was so good we came back the next day for lunch and had a dosa, chicken tikka masala, and chili cheese naan. A must visit when in Banff! Prices are also very reasonable and beautiful mountain views.

The service was amazing, the waiters were so attentive and provided honest opinions on items. We ordered the hot and sour soup, chicken chettinad, and plain pulao rice. The soup was so wholesome, probably the best hot & sour soup I've had in a while. The chicken was very tender, not really spicy, but well flavored. Overall would definitely recommend for great Indian food to warm you up in Banff

That means I wasn't paying the listed…read moreprices, which I really can't imagine being worth it compared to ordering a la carte at Maclab. There was usually an okay starch, some reasonably fresh salads, one or two pretty tasty entrees, and at least one entree that was borderline inedible. Salads were whatever, but desserts were uniformly excellent. Spices were present but somewhat worse for wear.

However obviously weather is not the fault of the restaurant. A few things that they do have in their control which could've been better... As other people have mentioned the price is crazy for what you get. And the buffet literally shocked me how few options they had for breakfast buffet. It was about the same as the cheapest kind of motel you could go to in USA in a strip mall.......The staff service really has got to be improved, almost everybody I talked to could use an attitude adjustment. For example me and my two teenage sons showed up on time for 8 AM reservation and spoke with the receptionist who clearly doesn't like her job and isn't interested in being there. She simply pointed for us where to go she didn't lead us to our table. Unfortunately our table was literally as far away diagonally across the restaurant as you could get to -it was so far away it was in the south west corner and of course when we got there it was filthy and covered with dirty plates, dirty glasses, used newspapers, and long black curly strands of hair from the previous family who had been there. The restaurant is so large it was actually quite a long walk to get back to her to tell her. She just said so I don't know what do you want to do about it just go back there and wait for the staff to clean it up I guess.... Also the music is unbelievably unbelievably bad. In fact it is so bad that after a while it got funny and I made a list, I will copy and paste here in a moment because my sons and I were cracking up. It was the most sickly sweetViolin elevator music orchestra covers of the worst pop music in the world for example any of the worst songs by Maroon 5 and Nickelback, and Drake, and the weekend, and even that ridiculous song "all about that bass", Which is by Meghan Trainor and it's a song about girls w really fat butts. She is singing about her butt in quite a lot of graphic detail, imagine having those lyrics race through your mind while you're trying to eat a nondescript lukewarm breakfast surrounded by rich snobby people and listening to crappy violins and synthesizers.... it was ridiculous.......I'm only giving it to Star's for finally one of the nice waiters who showed up who sympathize with me and my lack of enthusiasm for the song list. He agreed with me......."Life is too short for shit music!!!!!"

I finally asked her and she said she was our waitress but she too busy to serve us...at all. Seriously? All we needed was coffee and you couldn't handle it? For starters, we ordered the Fior Loaf Buttered Cheese Bread, which was warm, well-seasoned, and absolutely delicious.
