Food was good but service was so slow.. we came in at around 7 ish and did not get our food for almost an hour. We finished eating as fast as we could and all the stores was already closed so we sightsee around Banff. This was our favorite meal in Banff! The service was so good -- our server made sure we were comfortable at our table and were so attentive in refilling all the guest's water. Our server was also great with recommending dishes from the menu. The food here was SO good and is one of the best Indian food we've had. The spice level is accurate -- we ordered mild and the food had just the right amount of kick. Everything was so flavorful and not too oily. I had a wonderful time at zyka this evening! The food was delicious, the service was attentive, and the place was very well kept. I would highly recommend everything we ordered. We got lamb korma, palak paneer, mysore masala (spicy potato) dosa, and garlic naan. We got it all medium spicy and it was perfectly tingly. For drinks we got mango lassi and lime soda. Consider this a 3.5 star review. Chicken tikka was surprisingly good for an Indian restaurant catering to a tourist crowd. Rest everything was fairly toned down on flavors and spices as expected. We had such an amazing experience here! The owner was incredibly kind and welcoming, which made us feel right at home. The ambiance was warm and comfortable as well. Being from South India, I was so impressed with how authentic and flavorful everything was--it honestly felt like a taste of home. We ordered the chilli garlic shrimp, butter chicken, Kerala beef stew, lamb dum biriyani, parotta, and naan, and every single dish was delicious. The biriyani in particular blew me away--it's probably one of the best I've ever had. The place was packed when we walked in, but the servers were able to move some tables to fit our group, and I am incredibly glad that they did. This may have been the best Indian (fusion) food that I have ever had. The classic dishes were incredible (butter chicken, tikka masala, etc.) but the menus also explores many dishes that I had not tried before. Everything we tasted was delicious, not a single bad dish hit our table. The service felt a little slow at times (but it was also quite busy so it was not a major concern for us) and we were offered some free bread to make up for the wait time. One of our favorite meals in Banff. This place was busy and majority of the clientele was South Asian so we took it as a telltale sign that this place is good. We called ahead to ask if they serve halal meat and they do! We were worried about not being able to eat here as we arrived less than half an hour before closing but when we came in they were plenty busy and had no issue seating us. They seated us out on the balcony which was equipped with space heaters and a beautiful view of Mount Rundle. We ordered the tandoori chicken, butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, tandoori roti, butter naan, jeera rice, and rasmalai for dessert. It was a lovely meal. Tandoori chicken came on a sizzling platter and all the dishes were seasoned beautifully. My Pakistani husband had no complaints. We got the: Dahi puri - 8/10 we really enjoyed this but I wish there was some sort of base of chickpeas or potatoes. It was mostly just yogurt and chutney. Also really loved the pomegranate but wished there was more! Shahi paneer- 9.5/10 PERFECT really solid curry. Located in the heart of downtown Banff with a great but limited patio seating Zyka showed lot of promise. We ordered Amritsari fish, methi Malai mutter, chicken kadhai, butter chicken. The Vegetable Korma was outstanding - perfect amount of heat. We asked for medium and it was perfect. Combines the savory, spicy, and sweet flavor profile well. Packed with lots of flavor and large chunks of chicken. Chicken was dry was the only downside. 8/10 Chicken tikka masala $19 - More on the savory side than sweet compared to butter chicken. Flavor is not as good, but still ok dish. Same problem with dry chicken. 7/10 Palak paneer $19 - Average dish, but they made this one very spicy compared to all the others! 8/10 Roganjosh $21 - Interesting savory flavor profile. Lamb was tender and not gamey. 7/10 Goat curry $21 - Goat was a bit gamey. Overall still ok in terms of gravy flavor. 10/10 Coconut Rum Mango Lassi $12 - Ordered this while waiting and it was BOMB. Highly recommend! The mango flavor was very natural and sweet. Coconut made it cream like lassi and the alcoholic content was just right! We went here on our 2nd day with high expectations. Only saw very good reviews. We walked into a very understaffed restaurants. Our expectations were too high. They had the buffet style going on and you can also order from the menu. We opted for the buffet because it took so long to get the server to come back. The butter chicken was very tender and the sauce was good. All the other items were okay as well. The price was about 30 dollars or higher per person for the buffet so if you eat a lot this wasn't a bad deal. The ambiance of the place would've felt nicer if outdoor seating was available but it had snowed the night before so it was closed. Other tables being seated after us had to wait a long time to get seated, waited tables to be cleaned before seating even when there was a lot of seating available, waters were not delivered, orders not being taken. For a place so highly rated i know if should get busy but it seems they did not know how to manage at all. It was a bit disappointing for our first time eating at banff at a restaurant. read more

Very good food here, the butter chicken and aloo gobi were outstanding. They accommodated us very near their closing time and it was a very busy night so service was a tad slow, but the wait staff were so kind and owned the delays. We did wait likely around 45 minutes after ordering our food, but the waitstaff didn't charge me for a cocktail I got in that time due to the delay which was some great customer service. We sat outside and it felt nice to see all the people walking by on the street and to see the mountains. Really good Indian food in Banff downtown. The view from the patio is great. It was so quiet and serene when we stopped by overlooking the mountains! They have a lot of options to chose from. We got the garlic naan, tikka masala, chilli chicken and fried rice. All of the food tasted great. The naan was delicious! And our lassi's were perfect. The service was good and fast. They have a large seating area. Prices are a bit higher but thats every other restautant in tourist town in Banff. Paid parking close to the restaurant. Bunch of us opted for the buffet while some of us got a la carte. I got the aloo paratha and it was really good. My husband got the dosa with chicken curry and if you're a dosa regular, you'll know what fresh dosa batter tastes like. I can attest the dosas here were fresh! You don't often get good parathas and Zykas parathas were really good. Service was prompt and our server was very friendly, kept checking on us since we had 2 kids and we were a group of 7. I tried the masala chai and the filter coffee both and I am slightly more inclined towards the chai! Overall, this is a great spot with good views. Parking can be an issue. read more

The best naan I've ever had. Heck maybe the best Indian food I've ever had. Who would've imagined I would've found it in Banff. I came here post skiing with my friends and tried some lassis, curries, and naan of course. They had come a couple of days before and wanted to come again. What a great decision. Everything was super flavorful and hit the spot. Some favorites were the butter chicken and eggplant curry. The mango lassi was the best one in my opinion. The interior felt like a buffet hall and there were some tables that had buffet serving equipment on them. It felt authentic and tasted incredible. Would highly recommend visiting Zyka's! The food was absolutely delicious and tasted just like my favorites back in India.
