Their hours are not on their website. I ate here twice in August and had the worst waiter. The first time I went I had to repeat my order 5x to him even though he's standing next to me an I'm pointing to each item on the menu. My food was served with no silverware or napkin and placed on the other side of the table since he left the menu in front of me. The Masala tea was more milk than tea. Quality Indian food with authentic dishes I typically can't find in most Indian restaurants. The black lentil daal was the favorite of the bunch. It was creamy and flavorful. Dahi wali bhindhi was a great take on okra curry. The garlic naan was good and fluffy. The chili garlic laccha paratha was layered, although not as flaky as I'm used to. Truly impressed to find this in the small town of Canmore. We had the chicken Masala, butter chicken and the lasooni saag and truly everything was so good. We got a side of rice and garlic nan and it was so yum. I liked the chicken masala especially due to the spicy kick! Even my picky father who doesn't eat anything but chinese food really enjoyed it. I've eaten many times now and I have to say that this restaurant is entirely hit or miss...sometimes everything is awesome and tasty and other times the flavor is underwhelming or the amount of protein like chicken or paneer, is sparse. My friend and I were staying in Canmore and walked by Mumbai Local Friday evening. The menu looked promising and we were in the mood for Indian so we decided to give it a shot. There's both indoor and outdoor seating available when we came in early September. We opted to sit outside. I started with a glass of the mango mojito sangria ($11), which was delicious. My friend had the Kashmiri chili caesar ($10) and thought it was decent. The portions here looked pretty big based on the tables around us getting their food, so we shared one appetizer and one curry. We didn't want to walk away with leftovers. The Kandhari murg/chicken tikka ($18) is one of the most popular orders here according to our server, so we tried that and the fungi and coconut curry ($18). We also ordered some roti, naan, and basmati rice to eat with the curry. We loved the chicken tikka, which was super flavorful and tender. The fungi and coconut curry was also good but a little bit sweeter than we prefer. Loved the mixed mushrooms they included in the curry though! read more

The menu here is very interesting however the flavors were a miss! The service is excellent and everyone we talked to was very warm and accommodating! The pav bhaji did not taste like pav bhaji. Did it taste bad? No! I ate it and didn't mind it but it just didn't taste or look like pav bhaji is supposed to. Same with the puri bhaji! The puris were extremely thick. We did let the restaurant know for constructive feedback! The papdi chat also wasn't authentic! I had a bad experience with the restaurant falsely charging my bank card $220.00 for a purchase I did not make. I did purchase a meal for $22.00 however as stated I was charged $22.00 and $220.00. The day after I noticed the false charge I went back to the restaurant to get the charge remove. Returning to the restaurant meant I had to alter my vacation plans as I now had to return to the restaurant. The owner did call me after I had to put up a fuss and stating I would report the incident to the police. In the restaurant one of workers told me that I was running a scam. It took 5 days to resolve and interactions between my bank, the restaurant worker, and the owner. The owner did right the wrong but the interruption to the vacation and the hassle warrants that I will never return to nor recommend Mumbai Local. This is a true story and I have the bank statements to validate the incident. read more

As a business owner, I almost always never leave negative reviews and try to resolve situations and leave things as is. My partner and I ordered Lamb Bhuna and Nan to go and paid with a debit card. The curry had more South Indian flavors instead of the Mumbai flavors we were expecting- I'd rate the food 3* What ticked us off was not only was there a charge of $22 ish for the food but an additional $220 ish charge debited from the card when we checked the bank account. The next day we returned in an attempt to resolve the higher second charge. They told us that they couldn't find either either of the 2 charges and that we could be running a scam. After threatening to involve the cops and speaking to the owner, the $220 charge was refunded with no apology either to the mistake or the accusation of scamming them. I understand humans or machines make mistakes and it's easy enough to check the nightly credit card settlement sheet to see all the charges applied and deposited into the business account. In the end, we are glad that we were spending an extra day in Canmore and were able to return for them to reverse and refund the money. read more

Amazing food!! The menu was fun and unique. We started off with the Mumbai chaat platter which was 10/10 so delicious. I felt like I was truly transported to Mumbai and eating the street food there. The naan and bhature was so buttery and soft. My favorite curry was the kibbeh- so flavorful and rich. The servers were also very sweet and brought the food out promptly. Excellent Indian food in Canmore! Loved every dish we ordered. From the cheese naan to dosas. The Sambhar is warm and tasty! They spice it up to your level. The servers are so polite and eager to ensure our experience is nothing but the best! It was a pity we could not eat more but had we stayed longer we would go back there everyday!!! Ok as we were on vacation and they closed yesterday, we called today to see if we could reserve a table. They said they were closed due to an emergency, but they opened the restaurant just for us. That has never happened to us. We got the chat appetizer , Cornish hen, parathas and drumsticks. The Cornish hen was the best I have had. The rest were good, the parathas had dal and alloo and the drumsticks had Chinese fusion. As we were the only people, we got to see their new summer drinks menu being created. They have a spicy mojito and we got to drink it. It is the perfect summer drink. If you come to Banff or Canmore, please have the two partners Prasad & Subhan pamper you. So this guy walks in with a lady, waits all of 35 seconds before knocking on the kitchen door demanding service claiming he waited 10 mins. That has nothing to do with this review, but I just want to point out that tourists suck a lot sometimes and you should take these reviews with a grain of salt. Went here twice during our trip to Banff and got some very large orders. Food is great and everything we got satisfied all 25 of us. Only thing I'd like to say is that everything could've been spicier, but I guess they're just catering to the local crowd. Raj and his small team are capable of cranking out orders small and large, just be a little patient and don't be like that jerk who started knocking on the kitchen door. The ambience was good, the food was good and our host Raghu was extremely nice. We ordered dosa, Chole bhature, dahi wali bhendi (okra) and rajasthani kachori. All the items were very tasty. The bhature tasted like real bhature - not like puris. They had been fermented properly. The dosa was small but well made. The kachori chaat was made very well with all the chutneys. It was a proper rajasthani kachori. To top it all, we had a nice conversation with the host, Raghu. He was gracious answering all the questions, and we had a nice conversation about his experience working in the restaurant. Extremely understaffed We gave this place two chances and were very disappointed both times. The first time, we waited for 45 minutes with our any service. We were hungry and decided not to waste any more time. We left and went to a different restaurant. Then the next day, we decided to give them another chance. We got a hello after 10 minutes an they brought us waters 30 minutes later. After another 30 minutes they took our order... after another 45 minutes of waiting, we'd had enough and walked away.
