I also ordered garlic naan as a side to scoop up the extra sauce from the poutine. Really charming Indian spot in Canmore. We got a chicken tikka, a paneer roll, and a garlic naan to split. I also ordered a mango lassi. This place serves Indian street food, which I thought was interesting to try. I tried the Malai Chicken Kathi Roll and Dal Makhani. The Malai Chicken Kathi Roll was like a chicken burrito. It tasted all right, but I thought it had too much sauce (1 star off). I was expecting just the cashew cream described in the menu, but there were couple other sauces in there. It was almost like a wet burrito. The Dal Makhani was all right as well. The spices tasted smoked or bitter (1 star off), so I was not a fan. The garlic naan was my favorite. A solid choice for food in Canmore especially after a whole day hiking in banff! The chole kulcha was spiced well and there was potato inside the kulcha too which was a nice touch. It is also huge so definitely can be shared with something else as well. The paneer Kathi roll was also packing with flavors from all the sauces and chutneys they put inside. The sizes of the dishes here are really big and filling so be aware when ordering, thanks to the server who led us down the right path when ordering the food. Omg this was honestly one of the best meals I've had in a long time. As a vegetarian, I have dreams of the butter chicken my husband occasionally gets, I dip a little naan in the sauce and let me eyes roll back into my head in sheer bliss. The Roaring Rolls has BUTTER PANEER! And the sauce was spectacular. I got that, hubs got the butter chicken and we cleaned our plates and rolled ourselves right out of there. I wish I had room to try the saffron crème brûlée for dessert. So this place is totally unassuming on the outside, it's in a little plaza off the highway. But inside it was clearly designed to be instagram worthy. Rich greens and golds, silk flowers hanging from the ceiling, even a little wallpapered alcove with chairs for selfies. But the clientele on a Wednesday night seemed mostly oblivious to this. They were enjoying the plush banquettes, velvet chairs, beautiful stemware and friendly service. The Murgh Makhanwala was my favorite and I recommend it for everyone to try but everything we ordered was packed with flavor and really delicious. The chicken tikka was moist and done to perfection. The chole kulcha had the right amount of spice with the potato stuffing in the kulcha adding much flavor to the entire dish. We ate here twice during our stay in Canmore because it was literally that amazing! The butter chicken gravy had such rich and well balanced flavors. The organic chicken was tender and moist. The garlic naan had layers and layers of goodness that was different than other naan textures I've had in the past. Do yourselves a favor and eat here! We will miss it once we leave. read more

We tried the Chaat (not sure how to spell it, but it had crunchy spinach) small plate and it was incredible. It had so much flavor in it! The main dish we ordered was the Chicken Tikka Masala and it was delicious. It also had lots of flavor. This was recommended by a friend for its fusion items. We went to the restaurant at 8:30 pm and the first thing we hear is they don't have any of the fusion Baos that they have been advertising. Service- was super slow. It took 30 Minutes before someone took our orders and were avoiding eye contact for the rest of the time. We ordered Drinks 1. Beer - what we ordered wasn't available so ordered another one 2. Panna margarita - was excellent 3. Moscow mule - was also excellent Food 1. Amritsari fish which was decent, 2. butter chicken gravy was good but the chicken itself was tasteless. 3. Butter naan - was excellent 3. Egg kathi roll - here is where I lost it. I asked for spicy. It had no spice, it was too big to be a handheld. It was soggy and I was nibbling at it from the plate like a rabbit as one couldn't hold it. We spent quite a lot of money on the food and would have been better if we chose McD over this. After having mid-tier, overpriced food in touristy towns all throughout our trip to Banff, we weren't sure what to expect of this place since it had 0 reviews on Yelp. But we took a chance bc we saw lots of great reviews on Google (and many were from Indian folks so you know it's actually good) and it's now a restaurant we will come back to during future trips. We ordered the amritsari fish, chicken kati roll, and dal makhani meal. A lot of their menu is more modern and fusion cuisine, so don't expect to see a menu full of the classic indian dishes (although they do have a small section of the menu with the classics). Overall, everything we had was delicious, cooked perfectly, and beautifully presented! Although it was a bit pricier than a lot of other Indian restaurants I've been to, their portions were bigger than we expected (kati roll was huge) and it's similar price range as other sit-down restaurants in the area anyway bc tourist town. Moreover, the restaurant has classy vibes (see pics) and the service was impeccable. The employees were so friendly and attentive. I'd also highly recommend the mango smoothie (basically mango lassi) which cools you down after a spicy meal and was super tasty. FYI when we walked in, there was a sign that said "reservations only" but since there was 1 empty table they were able to seat us without reservations. So I'd recommend to make a reservation beforehand just in case you don't get as lucky! The restaurant is located in a plaza with tons of free parking. read more

We loved this place ! The more modern Indian food was new to us. The Palak Patta Chaat was described as a street food. It is spinach with chickpea batter that is deep fried and layered with other vegetables and yogurt . It was beautiful on the plate and tasted delicious. It was a great mixture of flavors. The chicken kathi roll was served in a rolled up naan with crispy veggies. We enjoyed the paneer kulcha as well . I had a NA cocktail of mango lime and ginger beer that was tasty. I highly recommend this spot if you staying in Canmore! The decor and ambience is topnotch and they have a great bar. We came in starved after a long day at the National park and were very happy to see that they have large portion sizes. We ordered Malai Chicken Roll and the paneer tikka roll and they were both yum and each roll could serve 2 people. We also got a couple of their chaat appetizers and the spinach chaat was excellent. The nacho chaat and the cheesy tikka naan could have been better but no complains. The service was a little slow but I assume that's because we came in immediately after they opened. Food was okay. Portion sizes were good. We got the Palak Paneer, Egg Kathi Roll, Butter Naan, Mango Lassi, and Chai. The paneer was plain and same with the chai. Would have liked more seasoning on the paneer and some sweetness added to the chai. The roll and lassi were delicious! What truly affected our experience was the opportunity to sit in a booth. When we arrived with a reservation at 7pm, I saw that there was both a booth and a larger table available but was told that these were reserved for groups of 4-6, and was instead seated at a small table next to the restrooms. This is understandable on a weekend during peak hours but on a Wednesday at 7pm? What made this more upsetting was they were fully open for reservations, the larger table was unoccupied the entire time we were there, and that as we were leaving (by 8pm) another couple was able to be seated in a booth. Please be consistent in your communication to guests so we can feel welcomed. This comment is specifically being made to the female host who seated us, not our server for the evening; she was cordial and made the evening a little more pleasant. Also, not sure if race was a factor (and I hate saying that) but this experience made me really question that. The food is an important piece in eating out, but the dining experience is what makes people return. read more

A fabulous calm vibe, the staff was incredibly friendly and answered all questions we had of the menu. We got butter chicken, biryani and butter naan. All the dishes were fantastic. Wow, what a fantastic find. This was some of the best Indian food we have ever had, and our family eats it a lot. We started with the Bombay potatoes, which were incredible. Don't skip them. The mix of flavors and spices was exquisite. Next we had the Chicken tikka kabob, which, again, was so much better than the usual kabob at most places. Everything else was fantastic too. I can't recommend it highly enough. Also, we had drinks which were exceptionally good. I can't tell you to order them because they were a holiday special (Negroni sour), but I'm sure the rest of their drinks are probably equally good.
