Not Recommended Service was horrible--we had to ask several times before anyone came to take our order. The pakora tasted old, as if it was just reheated in an air fryer. The roasted masala papad was off, and the dahl ballah was far too sweet, even though we specifically requested it to be made spicy. It's your typical westernized indian food...let me preface by saying not for Indians. The butter chicken was basic...sweet and extra creamy. The veg korma and mutter malai paneer used the same base so there was no difference and it looks like they used a whole bag of frozen vegetables. There was barely any paneer. I would skip on those. This was one of the only places open late for dinner. My friend & I went to watch the sunset on the gondola & didn't return until 9pm. By that time, most places in downtown Banff were closed! It was April & we wanted something warm so getting Indian curry was a good option. It's not the best Indian food but maybe the best you'll find in Banff. When I called the restaurant, they said Mysore dosa can be made Jain (no onion, no garlic, no potatoes) without the masala (which has potatoes). I had even mentioned I am allergic to these ingredients. I ordered and finished the dosa and it was tasty. When I asked for extra jain sambhar, they gave me non-jain and I asked them confirm as I could see onions and had to confront them to replace it. After sometime when my friends joined and asked to order Jain Mysore Dosa, the other waiter mentioned that they can't make it Jain. So basically they made me eat non-Jain food. The restaurant folks need to educate all their staff members and make sure they do not violate a person's religious/food preferences. My husband and I were looking for some food places and stumbled upon this place and I'm glad we did. It is hidden, its upstairs so don't miss it. To start we had their garlic bread, samosas which were great. Also had their vegetable pakora which I did not like, that is one thing I did not really like. Also had their chicken curry which was outstanding! With white rice. WE really enjoyed the food, it was just enough for both of us between the appetizers and the main dinner. Was trying to grab a meal in Banff between hikes and my first choice place had an hour wait on a Saturday so I walked around the corner and stumbled into the curry house. I love Indian food, so was happy to find this place. Restaurant is small (like most Banff places) and a bit pricey since it's tourist country, but the food is good. I just got a butter chicken and garlic naan and both were excellent. Lots of tender chicken though in a flavorful tomato sauce. The garlic naan had plenty of garlic and had good textual differences - some parts were more airy and crisp while other parts were softer and more pillowy. Dip away my friend. Free pop on checkin. I love that they had plenty of vegetarian items. We started with the samosas. I feel like you can't mess up a samosa. These weren't the best I have had, but they were good. For my main meal, I had the vegan chicken masala. It was super spicy for me. I ate it, but I couldn't finish it due to the spice. The vegetarian chicken had a squishy texture to it. The rice was extra, but one order is good enough for 2-4 people. Service was meh. My friend couldn't decide what she wanted after I ordered. There is no doubt that Canada has some of the best Indian foods outside India. So, I already had high expectations when I went to this place but oh wow, this place did actually surpass my expectations. I loved their Butter Paneer dosa!! It looked so delicious both the times that I had ordered it that I could not take a picture haha! Then we also ordered other things like aloo paratha - it was yum!! The staff was friendly, the only thing was when we ordered biryani rice as a side, they got it in an extremely hot dish that almost burned my fingers. We complained about it to the staff, and they heard us out and apologized. We tried this great little gem right in the middle of DT Banff. Their goat curry and Chicken Tikka masala just did it for me. Ofcourse ordered it to be spicy and they weren't shy to make it that way! We had ordered 4 total dishes, and even confirmed we wanted the 3 vegetarian options he had recommended, but at the end he only ended up putting in 2 orders... 1 appetizers and 1 dosa. We thought the entrees were just taking a long time and needed more time. After waiting 50 mins for the entrees, we asked the waiter when we're going to get our other two dishes. This is when he said he didn't put it in and thought we just wanted the appetizer and dosa... Appetizer and dosa is definitely not enough for the two of us... I was extremely upset because we are tourists and visiting Banff. Our time was precious and being wasted waiting for.... nothing. However, with that said, I am giving this place 5 stars because the food was really delicious. Everything we got were amazing. It is one of the best Indian food we've had at an Indian restaurant. My husband is Indian and we both eat tons of Indian food. We were both extremely impressed by the taste and quality of the food. I did not expect to find authentic Indian food in Banff, but I underestimated the cosmopolitan draw of a global vacation town. The food is as authentic as you get, and the service was top-notch. The server even helped us preparing a street food appetizer (I forgot what's it's called, but it's very airy and we stuffed the crispy balls with a potato filling). The butter chicken I had was the best dish amongst all the dishes we ordered (chicken curry, fish curry, vegetable rice dish, goat rice dish, vegetable potato dish, etc). Great place for an amazing Indian meal. It's on the first floor, so one will need to climb stairs to get to the entrance. However, there is a possible entrance from the Bear Street Parking lot which has an elevator but it will require a little more walk. It will land you to the rear part of the restaurant though. We went for Vegetable Korma with Roti, Butter Naan, and a Masala Dosa. Almost everything was great. Korma was delicious - the right amount of spice and great taste. Naan was quite soft. Masala Dosa was very salty - the Dosa part actually. The staff and the service were good. The food arrived fairly quickly. The west end of the restaurant has a great view of the street. Overall, it was a good experience. We exited from the back of the restaurant because it had an elevator (we had a senior with us) and our car was parked in the Bear Street Parking lot. read more
