Movers didn't show up AT ALL. Booked 3 guys for 3 hours (4pm-7pm). I was getting confirmation texts…read morethat they would be early, then I got a call that said they would be 1-2hrs late. Those 1-2hrs turned into 3hrs. At 7pm, I got a call that said they were here- they weren't. We had to call back the main headquarters/owner. Our two options were: 1) wait until Donna could get movers that night or 2) have our Uhaul stay packed overnight in a truck. (Overnight wasn't an option because we didn't have a padlock). Although we were grateful for the TWO movers that she could get to us that night, there should be more back up movers so this type of issue doesn't happen over and over again. The "discount" I was given was because I only had TWO movers vs. the THREE I had originally booked. We helped the two movers so that we could act like a third mover for these two guys to make it faster. Thank you to the two movers for getting to us that night, and I wouldn't use this service again.

Just to start with the experience itself was really slow and it was explained to my sister that there would be three movers and only two showed up. The process was slow and I felt frustrated - and based on interactions with the individuals assigned to my specific job- I am not quite sure exactly what was the point of hiring movers. It took the movers from around 9:30 to 2:30 to pack a full truck. I would describe the demeor of the two men as slap happy or almost unprofessional- it felt that you were always almost being laughed at or condescended. It almost seemed the two men were deliberately taking there time to add hours on the clock and pay. If that wasn't enough- here are a few main events that were alarming- - while at my old apartment, the movers literally asked me how/to help move the couch down the outdoor stairwell. I don't want to gripe or be a snot, but kinda thought- this is exactly why professional movers were hired...... - the second thing- getting into my new place- when the men came to my lobby, when they came to my lobby- I was literally asked- can we just leave the stuff in the lobby? Just sheer lazyness for a lack of better term- I was just absolutely appalled by the sheer lack of professionalism and wondered what thought process did the movers have ? Are they aware of their assigned job description or why they are hired for? The last offense- I gave them the keys to get in my new apartment before dropping my sisters things off at her new apartment half a mile away and of course they didn't give me back my key- and my parents had to go help me get it from them, and apparently they thought it was funny. Worse - my Dad wrote a complaint and they called my sister, harassing her- to remove it? Like excuse my language but if you want good reviews- make sure your employees are taking it seriously and not doing a half ass job? Don't harass my sister because your employees can't get it together. Completely embarrassing- like how do you own a company- look at the past couple of weeks and have multiple one star reviews and not feel embarrassed or ? I am glad to know it wasn't just me and my sister. In addition despite a completely unacceptable experience- barely anything was offered back. Please, please- please do not hire this company they do not give a single crap about the experience provided- they just want you money at the end of the day and good reviews without actually delivering. I hope this review helps people choose another company the other reviews too- showing moveman that's fine if they don't care but actions have consequences. *I am pretty sure I noticed a few reviews- not sure- of the day I moved that were one star within the same week but those are gone. I am going to guess that others were intimidated to remove the poor reviews- showing the 4.9 stars grossly inaccurate- what I suspected.

I went with the Chicago Green Box after doing a quick search on Yelp and am happy with the experience. Scheduling the box delivery and pick up was seamless through their online form. I appreciated the routine confirmation reminders via email as the dates approached. The boxes themselves were sturdy and clean. I ended up not needing to zip tie any of the boxes during the move. My only small complaint was I had scheduled the boxes to be dropped off and picked up from 9-11AM, and both times the team was here before 9AM. The first time, I was admittedly still in bed half asleep when they called to let me know they were there, and the second, was on a work call. I had to ask the drop off/pick up team to wait a few minutes each time. I recommend calling the customer the day before to check in if pick up outside the set time window works for them, or at the least, sending a text the morning of to confirm they are available. Will be recommending Green Box to my local friends and family for their moves!

I sent in a request for estimate late Saturday…read morenight, I got a call on Sunday to go through everything, discussed pricing and what typical moves of my size typically take from there I felt we had a fairly accurate estimate and was able to pull the trigger they were able to get me in that Friday. The guys showed up very punctual (5 minutes into the arrival window) got my two full storage units loaded up from the 5th floor in what I can only assume was record time and got everything unloaded even faster. I can not say enough good things about the crew: Miguel, Juan, German, Denis, Jose, and Henry. They were fast efficient and best of all careful. They protected everything and made the move easy. I would have no problem recommending these guys to anyone making a move in the Chicagoland area. Best of all pricing was very competitive, and final bill came in at the estimated cost.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY…read more My experience with College HUNKS was incredibly disappointing. I was quoted between $873 and $1,261 for my move, and that estimate included packing my kitchen. To help keep costs down, I packed my entire kitchen myself before moving day. Despite reducing the scope of work, my final bill was approximately $1,900--over 50% higher than the high end of the estimate. What was particularly concerning was that members of the moving crew acknowledged that estimates are often underestimated. Had I known the actual cost would be anywhere near $1,900, I would have chosen a different moving company. To make matters worse, several of my belongings were damaged and some items went missing during the move. While I understand that accidents can happen, what is unacceptable is how the situation was handled afterward. I promptly documented the damage, provided photographs and supporting information, and made multiple attempts to resolve the matter directly and in good faith. Despite repeated follow-ups, I have received no meaningful response regarding my claim. A moving company should stand behind its work, communicate with customers, and take responsibility when issues arise. Instead, I was left with damaged property, missing items, a bill far higher than expected, and no resolution. If you are considering this company, be aware that your final bill may be significantly higher than your estimate, and if something goes wrong, you may have difficulty getting a response.
