Unreliable internet coupled with nonexistent customer service. What more need be said? Switching to Sonic.

Tried to cancel security since living in an apt. cannot place camera on the outside of building. Had security for over 4 years. Tried to cancel today, and they told me I am on a promotion and my bill will go up $42.00 by cancelling security. I have not been on a promotion for over 2 years. When I got security my bill went down to $183, and when promotion was over Bill went up to $202. Tried canceling security and I would have to pay $243. WOW. 1st, I didn't even know I was on a promotion. They charged me $100 for a technician to come to my residence. I have had 4 technicians now. I still have to reset internet and cable box every day because they go out every day!!! Service from HELL! read more

Of course, Comcast Xfinity deserves five NEGATIVE stars, but we can't do that, so here goes. BTW, this is the third time I have reviewed them, because I have had so many unbelievable experiences. This is for the parent company, not the Oakland office, but I live in Oakland and can't find out how to review the parent company. This is the WORST company I have ever done business with, and that's saying a lot. I am stuck with Comcast, but if anyone has any alternative options, I recommend avoiding Comcast AT ALL COSTS. I have already addressed many problems, so I'll limit this review to my last call. The best way to try to talk to a human, I think, is to call their "upgrade services" number at 1-855-307-4896. Then don't tell them anything, just say "agent" over and over. I guess they finally answer because at this number they think they might get more money out of you when you order a new service. For me, it just mean, "upgrade to a working service." Not that that's happened yet... After you spend 15 minutes trying to get through (while they lecture you about how you should try to resolve your issues online, and also, there is NO WAY to contact the company online, although the humans there often suggest it), they will finally give you to a technical person who is calling from home with kids yelling in the background. Their lines don't work very well, so after 45 minutes of crap trying to get to that person, I have twice been dropped while listening to the person say "Are you there? Are you there?" Unbelievably, after the call drops, they make no effort to call you back, even though they have your number. However, after innumerable calls, I have never gotten a tech support person knowledgeable enough to help me, anyway. After six months of constant snafus, my box will not let me put any programs into FAVORITES (the only reason I got it), and it limits my PLAYLIST (which is my workaround for not having FAVORITES) to 10 programs and says the rest are "unavailable." Meanwhile, the box records programs I don't request, and often won't let me delete them. And if you try to clean house by deleting a program from the main lists, it disappears from the PLAYLIST! Comcast has gone from a company that once actually provided service to a completely inaccessible, outrageously overpriced, support-free nightmare. Worst customer service of any utility I have ever had The Misfortune of dealing with. Telephone staff can help you if your issue is very simple and very routine. But no Comcast employee knows corporate policy or procedures. The only way to get any resolution to a problem is too, unfortunately, submit a complaint through the Better Business Bureau. If you submit such a complaint you will get called by the Comcast escalations Department within several days usually your problem will be resolved. Most employees are painfully incompetent. Field technicians have bare minimum training and skills. Unfortunately, they are the only cable show and tell. So you are a captive audience if you want cable TV you must go with this deplorable company. read more

I have never hated a company more than Comcast. There customer service is atrocious. It's really hard to find a phone number. They never answer. Always a bunch of computer responses and wait times that approach infinity. I had to wait 3 years of agony to get rid of their phone service. My blood pressure went down the second I signed up with Ooma. When the internet goes down, there's no way to find out what's wrong in a reasonable timeframe. For me to go back to Comcast, three things would need to happen: A Yelp rating of 3.5 or above. A phone number that is on all their pages that gets answered quickly by a human. If you are reading this wondering if you should go with Comcast for Internet service, I felt it might be helpful for potential new customers to know that for the premium prices you pay, you get supremely poor customer service! Yippee. So awful... Yesterday, my next door neighbor was getting her service fixed because her Internet has been intermittent and unreliable. The service technician from Comcast parked on my driveway and was working on the access point, which apparently is in front of my house. When he left, her Internet was working and mine was OUT, as well as my cable TV. I immediately called Comcast (within 30 minutes or so of when Comcast left), and after getting the runaround on the phone for about an hour, was told that it was too late for them to come back. They would TRY to see if the technician could come back soon, but if not, the next available appointment was in four days!!! They customer service rep has not called me back since (despite saying he would). So, let's recap: 1) Comcast basically disconnected all of my services to enable my neighbor's service; 2) they are offering to come and "fix" my service four days from now; and 3) they have not called me back to actually give me a confirmed schedule. In the meantime, I have a full house that relies on Internet for everything from school to work to security and everything in between. I am a loyal Comcast customer, in that there are no other very good options for top speed internet. Due to online video streaming, I actually don't need the TV aspect but they make it a package deal. Ok so you sign up for a 12 or 24 month package at such and such rate. You personally need to mark it on your calendar or get a tattoo to remind yourself, because when that time frame is up if you are on autopay they will automatically bill your credit card or bank account for a much higher ($40 or so) rate as soon as your 'deal' expires and they possibly can. They will not notify you at all that your 'deal' will expire and they are going to bill you extra, even though they have your email address, your phone number and your street address. They do not want to notify you because they don't give a crap about their customers, and if they do it once a year to all of us I'm sure that's at least a few hundred thousand dollars they make across California. They will refuse to reimburse you for this. I honestly think this is fraudulent. They will also refuse to reimburse you when you are stuck on hold with them for over an hour and a half and your phone eventually dies. So far though it seems they are the only option for fast speed internet. If anyone knows of any other way for video steaming and online games please inform me! So hard to get a person with Comcast. Anyway have been with comCast again for the past 2 years. Had a great deal on internet service. So my deal was done and had tO look for new because they were going to charge me 30$ more x month. I had I interrupt only. Interestingly I find a deal including tv 10. I guess ther basiic tv. Said it was goinng to cost me 65$, not much more for what I was paying and certainly ly a lot less than what they were going to chaarge me. Anyway I go and put that in my shopping cart and go through the checkout process where theey tell me I had to pay 10$ extra for some tv charge to recoUp some of tHe cost for broadcastingg public channels. No, because I chose tv, they were gOing to charge. E for this and for that and I was goinng to be back to what they were going to charge me in the first place, just letting my deal lapse.. we'll, that's false adverrtising. You tell me i get channels for a certain price and than you want to slap in extra for this and for that? F that. Sell it as an extra add on package, but don't include the channels in the lineup showing me one price and then charge me extra in the check out process. I wish I could give negative stars...I have been a comcast customer for many years most notably I was using their residential service for almost two years. It was a disaster. I am pretty clever and was able to finesse my way out of their stupid 2-year agreements without paying activation fees but they always upcharge me or add weird charges on my bill so every month I have to fight to get it adjusted. Also customer service is the opposite of helpful. I always have to explain why something is wrong and be adamant about it or else I (most customers) get the short end of the stick. The service is sometimes really good but usually mediocre and not worth the price of the bundles they try to force down everyone's throats. My internet speed upstream was less than 5 and downstream under 100 when I was paying $15/month for the extra boost and ping was over 5....might be ok for some but my career involves tech and the internet so I need high and reliable speeds. The only real thing I miss about comcast is the xfinity hotspots all over the place. That was nice. I also had xfinity business class for my hotel back in 2013 and it was complete trash. They forced me to upgrade but had no support or assistance. I knew more about the boxes than the fucking techincal support teams. But they still charged the fuck out of my CC every month even when they couldn't provide interent to my hotel and I lost money plus I had a mob of angry guests in my office demanding free wifi. Internet down=riot in this era. Of course I had to prove to comcast it was on their end that the problem lied because they are so stupid. Nothing ever got done so I ended up buying some Ubiquiti equipment and changing my service. Solved the problem and also stopped running through so many routers/modems. I just switched to wave about a week ago and am just waiting for my refund from comcaast. Wave is excellent and am only paying $30/month for 250mbps+ (real time up:150+, down:5+, ping usually less than 5ms, average 2-4). I also added unlimited data usage for an extra $20. Noncontract and no bundles. Instead of paying $80-$140 for basic bundle and fast internet why not just bay $50-$60 for truly reliable internet. Also Wave has undergone some infrastructure upgrades so service in the SSF/SB area has become much better all around. No dropped connection and no worrying if I am going to be charged for going over my data limit. I also noticed comcast changed my promotion prices and deals after I canceled my service to charge me more. It was only $6 but the idea is if they do that to everyone that adds up. I had a bill already for the month(just 6 days prior) so it was kind of shocking how they would blatantly thieve from me but then again it is comcast. My advice is run and never look back. There are so many ISP providers that are localized and I suggest you give anyone a try because no one is worse than comcast. Don't do it to yourself! read more

I have been disturbed about the whole issue of Net Neutrality, particularly since Comcast is reported this morning as having said supporters of this neutrality "create hysteria." I just received a call from (655)207-8262, and the woman said she was from Comcast and wanted to talk to me about my account and my being eligible to "upgrade" it. I said that I was waiting to hear what is going to happen regarding "net neutrality" and she sounded confused at my response and asked me to repeat what I'd said. I asked her whether she was familiar with the issues of net neutrality, at which word she immediately hung up on me. Is this Comcast customer support? Comcast provided the worse customer services due to the following reasons when customer experience cable problem. #1) No accountability or responsibility from any supervisors to call customers back after speaking to a rep. even problem is unresolved. #2) Supervisors not willing to take any challenges calls when needed. #3) Not willing to make any special arrangements to fix the problem after their mistake of cable replacement but with no connectivity #4) Comcast has the tendency to make customers suffer from their mistakes. #5) Comcast's third party contractors perform extremely poor jobs and Comcast will stay away from any issues when it occurs. Is "HORRIBLE" adequate enough to describe "Comcast -Lack-of-Customer-Service" Customer Service Dept.? Some time back I had trouble w/ TV reception. I called Comcast to inquire if outage in my area. They said "NO". So they sent a Tech who messed around w/ TV's and cables and got NO WHERE. Then all of a sudden, everything worked!!! Amazing, bacause at that point he wasn't doing anything; he was speaking w/ his office. We all looked at each other thinking the tech had miraculously "fixed" the problem. At same time we get a recorded call, saying to the effect "the problem in your area has been rectified"!!! REMEMBER, I started out by asking Comcast if there was an outage in my area. As I mentioned, they said "NO". Then sent tech, wasted his time, but more importantly, they wasted my time! He gets paid; I don't!!! At time of Tech visit he left a brand new TV cable box "in case you should ever need it". Nice; we don't need it. Now I get an email telling me that cable box w/ Serial Number 123456 (the one the tech left w/ us) will be deactivated by Oct 2. and we need to return the box to Comcast. How do you DEactivate a new TV Cable box (still in shrink wrap and in a cardboard sleeve) when it wasn't ever even Activated??? Inquiring minds want to know! So they gave me two options: Return to any Comcast store (yes, inconvenience me for your tech's lack of knowing not to leave a cable box "just in case") OR drop TV Cable Box off at any UPS store. So I said, "Fine" , pls send me a return label for me to put on shipping box so UPS will know where to send it. Two "agents / Customer executives (?)" told me no label necessary. Just drop box off at UPS, REALLY???? Since I had zero faith in the UPS route, I asked for address of Comcast store in next city over from where I live. I know roughly where it is, but "YES, you guessed it" they could not provide me w/ an address. "YES", they could give me an address for a location very much farther away. UNBELIEVABLE. I hate COMCAST, and rightfully so. If you want to punish yourself be stupid like I was and deal w/ the inept people in the Philippines Call Center. GOOD LUCK to you!!! They don't relate to what you are telling them, they misunderstand, they have no logical / viable responses. They are a joke, yet I am NOT laughing. I been a Comcast customer for about 4 years. Never really had issues. Since March of 2020 we have been working from home. That's when I started noticing the "unexpected outages". At least once a month the unexpected outage will happen while in the middle of a work day.... Still working from home. They will not give any reimbursement on bill unless you call. And when I do call it's a headache to get to speak to a customer service representative. Oooh and when they give me a refund it's $15! My monthly bill is $300. So if we are having unexpected outages once a month. It's make me think we have always had them we just never really notice it since we was away working from an office. Get it together Comcast. March 2022 contract is over and I'm definitely going to be canceling services. How about you have an "unexpected outage" to all your employees working from home to see how you guys feel as employers. Horribly bad - non functioning customer service automated system for Comcast Business. As a business customer of many years, it is very frustrating to not be able to get help when my service (voicemail in this case) is down. I initially combed through the website but couldn't find any helpful information there. Chat was unavailable at the time, so I braved the 24/7 customer service number. I started my first call at 5pm on a Tuesday. 10 minutes it took answering questions to (hopefully) be routed to someone who might be able to help fix the voicemail system that a business I manage uses. It then put me on a brief hold then disconnected me. I tried again. Same results. About 30 minutes of my time and no closer to getting any resolution. Seriously? If I could give it a 0 star I would. Yesterday 7/12/2023 I finally got fed up with the five and six calls a day I get from Comcast trying to make me come back to them. They never give the option of hitting a button to opt out of their calls, just one to sign up and talk to someone. They have woken me up early in the morning and then more calls throughout the day. This has been going on for months. They were harassing me terribly. I hit the button to talk to someone. I was very upset. I told them I never wanted to hear from them again, that they were harassing me 5 and 6 times a day. I wanted them to take me off their call list. Believe it or not, I am still trying to process it, the rep said to me "Go F--- Yourself! and he hung up. I can't even type the work it is so disgusting for a business person to speak to anyone this way. I am a 73 year old woman and this was inexcusable. If in my working career if anyone did that they would be fired on the spot. I quit Comcast a few years ago because of their unprofessionalism. They would promise things and not follow through. My area rep was totally inept. She got my money and then I got nothing. I cancelled them and will never go back. This just adds to my dislike of Comcast. All they do is give you nothing, but raise their prices. I called Comcast and advised them about this vulgar person and told them he should be fired. I know they won't do anything. As you can see the LOW star review is not new around here. That should tell you something about your customer service. Thought about switching to you guys from AT&T. LOL. Boy was I wrong. You guys are the biggest lazy pieces of shits! Literally was told a technician would be coming out to my house tonight at 8pm (after I repeated that time 3x to person on phone to confirm time bc I thought that was late). Look outside around 4:30 or 5pm to find a Comcast Tech sitting outside of my house in his car. Not coming up, ringing door bell or performing the service he was suppose to. Automatically, since it's not 8pm the time I should be expecting him, I am not thinking anything of it. But, I do think it's weird so we think it's for the neighbors. I literally walk outside look at the guy since my garage door is open and he completely avoids me. I finally got a hold of someone on my third attempt after being hung up on twice because I didn't want to pay $1.75 for a "$100 rebate" ya, sure. Comcast is always talking a slick game and they love to charge for things that generally aren't worth charging for. When I lived in FL, I was paying $150+ a month for internet, cable and phone, so upon moving back to CA, I figured I'll just have internet and phone for $50, the price I was told. Nope. My bill is $80/ month because Comcast wants to charge $10+ for "renting the modem" and another $10+ for "faster internet" plus whatever taxes after that. It's annoying because I was told the bill would be $50, not $50 + whatever the fuck we want to charge additionally. To add the cherry on top, I was also promised that my house number is "new" and I wouldn't be receiving all the spam like telemarketer calls and whatnot...April Fools! My phone rings off the hook and this number was once a gold business/pawn shop with customers looking to flip coins and jewelry along with some poor woman trying to get ahold of some man that was once significant in her life. This review is for Comcast in GENERAL!! Last night my cable and Internet worked completely fine. Today I get home around 3:00 and it's not working. I reset the cable box and left. I came home about 30 minutes ago and it's still not working. I called and they told me there is nothing wrong so it must be something outside. I asked if they could come tomorrow and they said the earliest they could come was SUNDAY!! Um, NO!!!!!!! If they do not come tomorrow I am canceling ALL my services with them. What company makes you wait 4-5 days to come? HELL NO!!!! I am missing my shows tonight and they probably won't DVR & I am missing the Warriors game! I am beyond pissed. Also now that I am on a roll and venting about this company I might as well add one more thing in there... They said that if I record a show in one room I could watch it any any other room in the house... LIES!!!!! Because whatever I DVR in my bedroom I cannot watch on my other TV!! Ever!! If I could I wouldn't even give them a one star rating. Reading the reviews here are not surprising other than the one where the person (Greg C.) said they actually fixed a problem. That is a surprise as I am on month 4 of them contacting me about a problem with my service that they detected and they still can't fix the problem. Today their phone service that I pay for was so bad I couldn't even talk to them on my home phone and they had to call me back on my mobile (which by the way is no through Comcast). Their field service agents can't fix anything and their call center agents are just as bad and can't do anything but schedule an appointment. I pay them a hefty fee every month for all the services they are not actually providing today so I am looking for a new provider. I would even pay more to a new provider to actually get something that works and has competent people working for them. Maybe the FCC should actually hold them accountable instead of just ignoring the many complaints they receive about this company that monopolizes many markets in the U.S. I know lots of people that pay Comcast for a service and not one has any positive thing to say about them. I spent well over an hour working with an online clerk named Priyanka to obtain a quote for service. When I finally got the answer I wanted and the price, I printed the chat record while I continued to price alternative providers. When I called back to initiate the service, the customer service/sales group refused to honor the price I was given, despite having it in writing from one of their own customers. They overcharged me by first giving me high rate without my consent. Then they charged me with two rates for the same period. Besides they still gave me high rate even after I signed new contract for low rate. and I can only contact them by texting messages which don't help read more
