Patelco Credit Union office branch as this location is in San Leandro off of Hesperian blvd. Location is in shopping plaza with other nearby stores for cloth in g, beauty, cable, wireless, and other nearby convince stores. I had prior made on phone online scheduled appointments for in store branch office visit for serving my Patelco Credit Union account. When arriving to my appointments I travel just as myself only utilizing my own personal transporation services not being accompanied any other persons. At this specific's office branch there is on site Patelco security guard on site at all times. Patelco servicing is for retrieving account statements and to provide updates. My account established location I have been a residence of location for several years as location is of a non smoking non drug usage area of space inside and all vehicles that had been purchased signed for registered in my name. My space had disruption of services that occurred in June 2023 which I had not been able to have direct accessible access my mail which normally I am sent home a statement of my account each month. I Christina have not given my door entry key, mailbox key, residence gate code, or vehicle bar code to any other persons of self entry accessing my spaces. As of locations I Christina do not have a personal assistant to myself. During in branch conference office visit, on phone or via online virtual chat with Patel Credit Union representatives I am primarily using English only. I Christina have not taken any vacation or traveled out of the state of California for over 37 years. I am direct at all times only. I came in at 1:52pm today (Saturday) to get my debit card reprinted, and to change my address. Even though the bank was only eight minutes from closing, the teller Giovanni was very gracious and helped me to get everything done anyways! I am so thankful for his kindness and patience! Class Action Lawsuits against Patelco WHY? Lawsuits might be helpful when compensation is needed for losses brought about when: 1) A person/company causes harm to another either maliciously and/or intentionally. 2) A person/company needs to be 'taught a lesson' to not put profits above customer safety. 3) A person/company was provided information but did not act on it - causing #1 (and #2). But suing a person/company just because they were not 'psychic' enough to anticipate the possible future malicious actions of another company (or foreign government) is baseless - especially in this ever-changing high-tech world of ours. As I understand it, Patelco; 1) Did not maliciously nor intentionally cause this breach - cause harm to it's members. 2) Does not need to be 'taught a lesson'. It seems that they took full responsibility for the data breach and set about to address it - both at the coding level AND at the customer level. Sure maybe they could have granted full access to our money sooner. But, perhaps, they took their time to ENSURE that their members would not be breached any further. 3) Would have acted on all information provided to prevent a data breach. 4) Has never claimed to be 'psychic'. Sure the data breach was bad. Sure it was inconvenient. Sure changes do need to be made. But, ask yourself, is suing Patelco the best solution? There is not much to be gained from it: 1) Who will GAIN from a class-action lawsuit? It is usually not the lawsuit participants. Each one might receive a few dollars - no more. But the lawyers - now they will probably get between 6 and 7 figures for their time. 2) Who will LOSE from a class-action lawsuit? Patelco members, that's who. Patelco is a cooperative; owned by it's members. So any money paid out to class-action lawsuit participants will likely DIRECTLY, and inversely, affect services that will be offered in the near future .... AND affect our interest rates. So, perhaps, instead of punishing Patelco and it's member/owners by joining a class-action lawsuit that is mainly beneficial to a law firm, you might use your competitive freedom to express your displeasure (and 'teach' Patelco a lesson) and take your money to another financial institution - IF, that is, you can find one who you are 100% certain will never suffer any future data breach. And maybe, just maybe, you might consider doing some transactions the 'old-fashioned' way - and not be as dependent on high-tech (breachable) transactions. We had some business to conduct at Patelco bank that required a notary. Patelco was very efficient in scheduling us with Michelle Berck , a Certified Financial Specialist at the Bank. Not only was she efficient and proficient in what we needed to do, she did so in a friendly, kind and professional manner. Yes, I'm a fan, but at the same time there are certain times I am more of a fan than others. For example, it is very busy here on the weekend and there are only two tellers and maybe two bankers to help you. I have also had bad experiences with the ATM as other Yelpers have mentioned. My card was once shredded for no reason and then I had to go in and order another. While I have had some difficulties with my banking experience here, I am still happy that they aren't a big bank supporting immoral endeavors. So, I'll put up with a little disappointment here and there. I did miss free checks a few times, but noew'days living in an electronic world makes it easy to manage without checks. I visited the credit union on 9/3 and I inquired with the teller about some things having to do with my mother's passing and a deposit, and I had the 'joy' of working with Amy whom indicated that she is the manager. My mother had some money orders that were uncashed, which still had the receipt attached to them and I wanted to know if I could deposit them into my bank account. The teller indicated that she would ask for assistance, asked me to sign-in on the drop-in board and wait to discuss with the manager, who was Amy. The line was out the door because the ATM's were out of service, it was the first business day after being closed for the Labor day holiday, and I waited 20 minutes to discuss with her. As opposed to her bringing me into an office to have a private conversation about my request (there were several available), she LOUDLY asked what I had come in for and said it wasn't something she thought that they could do and would more than likely require approval. Yet, she never made the request for approval. Instead, it was obvious, that she was rushing me out so that she could assist other customers as there were several people waiting to speak with her. I visited the San Leandro location again yesterday to make a deposit, obtain a copy of a processed check payment as well as ask about depositing funds and/or opening an estate account. When I visited, I inquired about the specifics of depositing a check payment as well as opening an estate account. To my chagrin, I again had the 'joy' of discuss my requests with Amy who as with the previous visit opted to have the conversation out in the open (there were again several available vacant offices, she even came out of one) and again said that to make the deposit of the check in question, a request would have to be submitted to the approval department and it could only be deposited on a rare occasion. Yet, as with the last encounter, she again didn't make an effort to make the inquiry. My issue is the extreme lack of customer service and the unwillingness to provide assistance. If, for whatever reason, she was unable to submit the request she should have provided that information during our conversation as opposed to speaking in 'what if's'. What is most frustrating is that I've been banking with Patelco for well over 20 + years, as I joined when it was Cal State 9 credit union and there doesn't seem to be any value or appreciation of me as a client. I reached out to the corporate office to submit an official complaint and discuss my concerns on 9/27/19 and have yet to receive a response. Bottom line, if you choose to bank with Patelco, I wouldn't recommend utilizing this bank location if any of your transactions would require interacting with a manager. The teller's are GREAT, polite and super helpful but Amy needs immediate customer service training and sensitivity coaching. read more

I Went with my husband to have some important papers notarized. We had an appt with the the Assistant Branch Manager. This service is available to Patelco Customers. Being in the Customer Service Profession for over 30 years, I'm big on giving and receiving Quality Customer Service. She didn't even greet us. All she said was if you have the papers just sign them and waited! My husband pulled out the papers for our signatures so she could witness. She could care less and walked out the room a few times. After a while of feeling uncomfortable and a little disturbed, I asked her how are you doing? Her response was busy!! I wanted to say "I'm sorry to disturb you for doing your job!!" But I said "I'm sure you will be glad to get off". No response -- she just sat there. We finally signed the areas where our signatures were needed. She notarized them by completing a Patelco Form and crossing out the areas where she was suppose to sign as the Notary. After leaving we found out she did them incorrectly!! We talked to the company that required the notary and now we must get it done all over again! There are two areas that required a notary signature. Not only did we get poor customer service we also need to have our papers redone the right way! Note: I did say she was the Assistant Branch Manager. SMH read more

This is the best branch. The customer service is excellent. It's so refreshing to be greeted by a professional staff. I was doing a small transaction, and the teller was so pleasant to talk to ( no attitude ) . I mentioned my debit card had expired , and she promptly replied I will order you another one. My banking was done, she told me to have a seat, and she would bring me my card. With in minutes I had my new card. As I exited the bank the security guard told me to have a nice day. I was trying to open two Trust accounts for my 93-year-old mother and after spending two hours getting my trusts scanned and sent to "get approved," the documents were approved but I was handed an extremely cryptic Application form and was told, "I can give you no advice on how to fill it out." She implied I should probably go back to the lawyer to help fill out the app! After another 30 minutes trying to figure out how to fill it in, I gave up and left. I went to Wells Fargo, where I have an account and they were able to open two accounts in about an hour without a Trust Lawyer present as Patelco implied was needed to fill out their application. Being a 40 year member of Patelco, I certainly was disappointed that an institution with a rather heinous reputation lately like Wells was able to get this done with my existing documentation rather that what I was being demanded of me at my credit union. read more

I love patelco as a bank, always provided me with great service. Always looked out for me when i had issues. But earlier this month i pulled out $100 cash because i always want at least 100 bucks on me in case of emergencies. And yesterday i had to return because of an issue. The cashier gave me a fake bill on accident of course, and when i went inside the bank to get it fixed the manager refused to swap the bill out. Instead she took the fake bill that i was given and said she had to send it back to the federal reserve. So now im out of $100 dollars of my own money and i wanted to just cancel my account I decided that i shouldn't throw away a good bank for a arrogant managerial experience, but i will never come to this specific bank again. They don't have crazy fees for overdrafts or minimum balances like other banks. They don't change their policies every 30 days. This Patelco is inside the Lucky supermarket! I've been on an unsuccessful manhunt for this branch before and only recently did I learn it was inside the Lucky. So there. Came through on a Friday at about 11am and there was already 10 people in line. To be fair, it was the day after Veterans Day. The line moved as lines move through a grocery store. All four windows were open and they were processing customers as fast as they could. My Member Service Rep, Brandy, was super helpful with everything that I needed to take care of (deposit, debit card questions, direct deposit slips) and did so in a friendly manner. She answered all of my questions, got me out in a matter of minutes, and I have only praise about our interaction. read more

The wait for a teller and for a consultant (is that their title?) at the desk averages 20 min (or longer). Why are they always so busy????? Despite the wait, the tellers are courteous and acknowledges your patience. I had a simple CD request and despite waiting 40 min (2 people ahead of me), the consultant was very nice and very professional. I would say she is very experience and quick without making you feel like you are rushed. I commend all the staff that works there but I urge management to address the wait issue here!! There was a slight incident during the wait where a guy demanded that the tellers let him cut to the front of the line because his father was handicap. Despite the many seats that were available for the father to sit, the son made a scene and even interrupted the consultant to help with the matter (extending my wait time). All the staff handled the situation very professionally and fairly. Bravo to all the staff there but boo on Management. I came to the San Leandro branch & received the service I expected from Elizabeth Ruiz. I came here regarding an issue with misuse on my debit/checking account (there were charges I didn't authorize), I originally went into the downtown Oakland branch & I asked about the unauthorized charges, instead of helping me, I was told by the assistant branch manager that I shouldn't have shared my account info with anyone! Really?! Who the hell would do that? So, I called the 800# to get more info regarding the charges (to dispute myself) & I was advised by the rep to go into a branch to fill out some forms to dispute the charges, why this wasn't offered to me at Oakland, I don't know....which is where I met Elizabeth Ruiz. She helped we with disputing the charges and followed up with me thru email & a phone call, letting me know that everything was credited back to my account & taken care of! I didn't have to follow up with her, she actually called me the very next morning! I definitely received the service I expected from Elizabeth, she went above & beyond to follow up with my concerns. My review is strictly for the the lady that helped me. She was very nice and professional. She explained everything thoroughly and answered all of my questions. I can definitely say my first time experience was a positive one. Due to the pandemic, they have a long line outside if you wish to go inside to a teller. The only thing that I was not too thrilled about was the process for helping the people who have appointments. I may have waited about 10 or 15 minutes past my appointment time and when a petite woman came out, she never asked who was next. Instead, she instantly proceeded to help this couple that was standing up, which is when I had to interrupt and let her know I was there first. Mistakes happen, but the fact that she walked back-and-forth quite a few times before that couple even came into the bank indicated that she saw me but she chose not to acknowledge me.
