Not only is the food ready to go, but because they are so busy you are almost guaranteed fresh food because of the high turnover. This place is exceptionally great for buying food for gatherings/pot lucks/large events. The chicken with spicy salt is a must have. It's the first thing that comes to mind when I need to bring food to any event as you can order trays, usually half or a full tray, which they fill past the brim! Truly you get a bang for your buck when it comes to your orders. Tip: if you like the chicken with spicy salt but are looking for a pescatarian option call ahead and order the fish with spicy salt - essentially fried fish! It's just as good but caters to those who are avoiding meat. This must be called ahead of time as it's a special order. They serve large portions and now I can see why people actually like their food. I ordered their spicy salt fish, mushroom tofu, and their potstickers. I was not disappointed. As I waited for my fish to be freshly made, the other customers were ordering their 2 entree plates ($9.55) and the ladies stuffed those containers full. I would say this is better than spending $12+ at Panda Express. Just and FYI- Their pot stickers have a pork and cabbage filling and their egg rolls have chicken filling. read more

Always a great value. The salt and pepper chicken is so good and they really pack their plates. This isn't gourmet or authentic Chinese food but instead super fast and cheap Chinese. Go in worth the right expectation and this place is awesome. We also got the egg plan tofu and broccoli beef which were also both solid. read more

Yes. Order the potstickers. I am definitely not a potsticker fan, but these housemade dumplings are damn delicious. I am not a fan of my usual staples from Chinese places. Their orange chicken and sweet and sour pork really lack flavor and sauce. You really want to get the Spicy Salt Chicken and if you order ahead, I HIGHLY recommend their Spicy Salt Fish. That is probably my fav dish there, so far. Everything tastes so fresh at Combo. Their fried rice and chow mein are both better than most sit down restaurants. On top of all of the tasty food, the ladies who serve it up to go are all really nice. They treat regulars really well, but also treat noobs great. Working on being a regular there. If you are in Vallejo and in the mood for inexpensive Chinese style food, this is a great choice. Combo is basically a home style version of Panda Express. Is it authentic? Nope, but it's tasty, filling and cheap. Served by the same group of Chinese ladies since their opening years ago. The steam table items are good. The standout are the spicy salt entrees. We have also had the orange chicken, soft tofu with mushroom, fried tofu with eggplant, bbq chicken, egg rolls and potstickers. All are good. The egg rolls are huge and very good as are the potstickers. Both are definitely homemade, not out of a box or bag. You can also call in for entree orders and special party sized trays. With Covid, there is no more eat in, but this is a takeout place to start with. They have the floor marked off for people in line and on weekends, the line extends to the door. This is basic bland express chinese food. They have a lot of choices. Eggrolls are over priced, full of cabbage and no flavor. This is a good spot if you don't want to pay too much and need a quick fix. The food gets 2 stars. The staff are great people. Very friendly and kind. So I gave 3 stars because all around they are not terrible. There's no where to sit or eat your food. They still require you to wear a mask. I might try it again in a few months or so. The taste of the food has changed since the original owners that I've known for many years (18+) is no longer there. Their Spicy Salt Chicken is too salty to even consume. I was craving cheap Chinese food, so I went back to Combo Express again today. Social distancing and masks enforced. The employees are also isolated from the customers. The Spicy Salt Chicken always hits the spot, and the Chicken & Green Beans was cooked perfectly. (The beans still had that crunch!) Have you ever watched one of those Instagram or Tik Tok vids of someone stuffing HELLA Chinese food into those styrofoam food containers? Well, this is one of those places. The folks at Combo Express clearly know the structural integrity of those containers because after they stuff the Chow Mein, Salt and Pepper Pork, and Brocolli Beef in that single container, that thing is about to burst at the seams. Miraculously, it doesn't. And eating Chinese food out of one of those containers just HITS different. Food is excellent, they put in just the right amount of MSG to keep me coming back. Usually just buy the chicken to-go and eat it at home with rice ... but their combo plates are a great deal as well. You can get rice, fried rice, or chow mein along with a variety of entrees. One combo plate is more than enough for two people to share. They also have all of the other standard dishes - spicy eggplant, kung pao chicken, etc. Pretty similar to Panda Express, but much more bang for your buck. Tried this place because a coworker said it was good--it's not. The popcorn fried chicken tasted like they used almost-rotten-the-next-day chicken, and the chicken in the fried rice tasted the same way. My husband, who basically uses magic to conjure up great food, also agreed that the chicken was going rancid when they cooked it. Cheap, nasty chicken. And then they douse the food with MSG to hide the fact that their protein is old. No thanks. I was looking forward to this because I love Chinese food, but this was a bummer. Go somewhere else. Came here with my honey for dinner. He's been wanting me to try this place for some time, he drives from Fairfield and swears it was better than my usually spot. So I decided to give it a try. We ordered the salt fish and salt chicken, fried rice and chow mein. I must admit my honey picked a good spot. The food was pretty good and the fish and chicken was seasoned well. I noticed the portions were very generous and the service was fast. The only thing I didn't like was, my honey asked for sweet and sour sauce and they wanted to charge .25 cents.
