    Salt and pepper fish
    Idy C.

Best value of Chinese food in town! Their portion is huge, double size than Panda Express and fresh! I have been a regular customer for many years. Their salt and pepper chicken is very popular! But I also love their salt and pepper fish. You cannot beat the price for a whole plate of fish for less than $20!

The food here was pretty good, but the meat was really chewy and most of the meat i had to swallow and eat whole because it was really hard to bite into the meat. The service here was pretty mediocre, I ordered one plate and took 30 minutes. not the longest, but it certainly wasn't fast either the ambience surrounding this place was a standard family owned busy that everyone enjoys. I would reccomend this place, and wouldn't be surprised if the other food was good too.

Truly a Vallejo gem! The staff is always so nice & generous with their portions, pricing is very reasonable & probably the best pricing you'll find. Party trays of chow mein, fried rice & spicy salt chicken are always a hit at parties! They pack the boxes with so much food, they barely close! They are closed on Sundays, but open Monday - Saturday & they DO take Apple Pay.

I stopped by Combo Express after hearing really great reviews from a couple of friends, and Combo Express did not disappoint! I tried; the Pork Chops, Sweet & Sour Pork, Spicy Eggplant, Salt & Pepper Chicken, the Fried Fish & Pot Stickers. Everything was fresh, tasty & delicious! I had company at the house when I bought these items and everyone loved it. I highly recommended! This is a "takeout only" restaurant, there is no seating inside. It's located in a strip mall. You may see some questionable people outside, but don't let that be the reason you don't try Combo Express! You won't be disappointed! :)

I am not exaggerating when I say this is my all-time favorite Chinese takeout restaurant! I grew up eating here, and I'm thrilled that nothing has drastically changed over the years. I'm still so happy to see a line of customers waiting to be served every time I visit--it's proof they're still thriving after all this time! For cheap, tasty food with large serving sizes, Combo Express is the place to go. My go-to combo is half fried rice, half chow mein, salt and pepper chicken, and barbecue chicken. The barbecue chicken is a classic, but the salt and pepper chicken is my absolute favorite. I could snack on it like popcorn chicken from boba shops, but paired with the fried rice? Absolutely delicious! I've also tried other dishes like the beef and broccoli, and everything is consistently great. During holiday celebrations, I often order their party platters--they're very affordable and come in generous portions. I genuinely love this place and always recommend it to people around me. It's well-deserving of a 5-star rating from me!

Combo Express is located in the Springstowne Shopping Center. My co-worker has purchased food here to bring to our work potlucks, so I am familiar with some of their dishes. They are know for their Spicy Salt and Pepper Chicken. I ordered the Spicy Salt and Pepper Chicken, Tofu with Eggplant, Chicken with String Beans, Chow Mein and Pot Stickers. Everything was very tasty, but the hit with my family was the Spicy Salt and Pepper Chicken. They do not have any seating to eat in as they are strictly take out only. They do a lot of party trays, so call in ahead of time to order for your next party or potluck.

I really wanted to like this place because I heard great things about their salt & pepper chicken. Unfortunately, after eating it, I noticed the meat was pink inside and didn't look or taste like real chicken. About an hour after eating this mystery meat I ended up with a bad stomach ache. I'm honestly disappointed and concerned about what they're serving.

Ask the Community - Combo Express

Do they sell smelt on trays?

They used to sell 1/2 and full catering trays. You had to call a day or two ahead.

Is the chow fun made to order or ready upon arrival like at a panda express?

Their chow neon is on the steam table, but the chow fun is made to order. They have high customer volume so the food is often fresh.

Anyone know how the prices for party trays?

Party tray ranges between $25 and $35. They have pretty large servings. We regularly get food from them when we have gatherings.

We ordered a variety of dishes but the cadence of food arrival was very sporadic. I had to go up a few times to ask for napkins and water refills. I wasn't impressed with the appetizers- chicken wings and calamari portions were basic and small. The prawn pad Thai, pineapple and crab fried rice dishes and the desserts were pretty good. With so many Thai places that have great service and food, this place was mediocre. At least parking is free- probably best for takeout!

We ordered the chicken karaage which came out really quickly and had big pieces of chicken, perfect seasoning, wasn't too much and it had like a sriracha sweet mayo dipping sauce. My mom wanted the seafood ramen and my dad wanted the wonton ramen. I know they don't eat too much so I figured to share with them and just ask for an extra bowl. My parents don't like spice so I asked for them to not have any spice in it. Their wonton ramen was a tonkatsu base and it was pretty good. They had huge mandu style wontons that I enjoyed with the bakchoy and hard boiled egg. The seafood ramen is the most expensive and it comes with shrimp, fish balls, bamboo, corn, sprouts, boiled egg and green onions. The shrimp were huge pieces and I enjoyed the ramen noodles. The flavoring tasted like regular ramen to me. Overall it was a busy flow for a Saturday night both with people ordering take out and those dining in. They also have sodas and Hawaiian bbq plates to order plus tons of other sides you can get ala cart. Service was quick! It's not too bright inside, the walls are covered but you can partially see outside.

As for the bún bò Huế, I actually asked the waiter about it beforehand and she mentioned it wasn't very traditional and that she personally didn't prefer it. Honestly, I should've trusted that. It wasn't terrible, but it definitely wasn't the best or what I was hoping for. I'll stick to their pho moving forward. I also ordered a to-go soup for my dad, and this is where things were disappointing. The packaging just isn't great -- especially compared to other pho spots nearby. The soup was spilt all inside the trunk of the car. They don't double-bag it, the container itself felt slippery and not very secure. In my opinion, pho like this can be a bit hazardous for takeout if it's not packaged well. To be fair, the spill of the box was partially my fault while juggling my phone, but the container didn't help the situation. I'm mainly sharing this as feedback on the takeout packaging. For me, this is a place I'd rather dine in than order to-go. Overall, it's not a bad spot -- the pho is solid -- but it's not quite my go-to. I'd come back, just with adjusted expectations.

When we got there, it was already busy, but we were glad we were able to get a table right away. Good thing we came when we did, because a wait started forming shortly after. We did have to wait a bit for our food, but it was understandable--they had a steady flow of call-in and DoorDash orders going out. We ordered the garlic soy wings, salt and pepper fish, and shrimp fried rice. First off, the shrimp fried rice actually had real, good-sized shrimp--not those tiny ones you sometimes get--which we really appreciated. The wings were flavor town: crispy, packed with flavor, and super satisfying. Even though you can see peppers in the dish, there wasn't really a spicy kick, which is different from San Tung, where there's usually a slight heat. That said, even without the spice, these wings absolutely live up to the hype. The salt and pepper fish was also a standout--crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Overall, I can see why people compare this place to San Tung. They're both delicious, just in their own way.
