Came to Colette for the first time to celebrate our anniversary and we were not disappointed! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and best of all it was some of the best French food we've had in this area. We had the bread service, escargot and Terrine to start with. All 3 were excellent and I usually avoid ordering escargot in the states. For main entree I went with the duck confit. Which was excellent. It was crispy and tender just like it should be! Wife had the fish (sorry don't remember which) but it was excellent as well. For dessert we had the chocolate mousse and ritz au lait. Both were excellent as well but we could have shared one! What a cute spot, right next to Washington Park. The servers and food runners were attentive and friendly, and made great food and wine recommendations. They were courteous to ask what time our next event was so they could pace our courses leisurely. The menu is on the small side. There were many protein options and vegetarian salads plus one vegetarian entree (ravioli). Try both breads, you won't regret it. But if you're only getting one bread, opt for the special butter and baguette option. The simple salad was tasty but not worth the cost for portion size. The cod was unanimously recommended, and it did not disappoint. It was on the salty side, and definitely high fat (butter sauce), but the texture was perfectly crisp on the outside and soft and tender on the inside. Dessert was another winner- I got the Riz au Lait (rice pudding), the best I've had in a while. It comes with caramel drizzle and cocoa nibs and candied nuts on the side. Came on a slow Wednesday dinner service and immediately noticed the beautiful upscale decor as we walked in. We were seated quickly with a reservation. Our waiter was very attentive and was always around to check on us and refill our water. The Raviole de daphine was exceptional with great blend of cheeses and butter. The duck confit was perfectly cooked and had a rich and deep flavor with cassoulet beans. The steak frites featured an 8oz ny strip for $46 which I dare say is a tad bit expensive for the type of cut it was. The steak was cooked perfectly and the frites were crispy and well seasoned, but the peppercorn sauce was very subtle, thick, and tasted of horseradish which was not what I was expecting, I preferred the pepper corn steak and frites at Luca bistro in Mt Adams at half the price. I would definitely return to try their other menu items, but only do so on a special occasion. read more

We finally made it to Colette for dinner with friends before a show! We got Vol-au-Vent, Roasted Beets Salad, and Laminated Brioche for the table and they were all delicious bites. Vol-au-vent was so rich and savory, while the brioche was light and airy and oh so buttery. My partner and I split the Herbed Cavatelli pasta and Icelandic Cod entrees. The cavatelli pasta was cooked perfectly and paired well with the lamb ragout. I was, however, a little disappointed by the cod. I'd heard such great things, and while it was very good, our dish was over salted. The cod paired really well with the wilted spinach - a nice contrast - but the sauce was overly salty - perhaps a outlier? Overall, great experience! Service was superb. I would love to come back and try some of the more decorated salads) - icelandic cod (fantastic--loved the caviar beurre blanc sauce and the toasted brioche crust. I'm not typically a cheesy pasta girlie, but these were light, the browned butter was fantastic, the presentation was fun, and it wasn't overly rich or cheesy - steak frites (fries were great, sauce was great - choux au crauqelin (good--I wish the crauqelin had more of a crunch) - riz au lait (perfection. best dessert that we ordered. loved the crumbly top - Mille-Feuille (love the pastry, but the cherry sauce quite honestly fell flat for me) Overall, I cannot wait to return to Colette to try the dover sole, the duck confit, and the delicious looking chocolate mousse. It was our anniversary, so we decided to try something different/unexpected and Colette OTR fit the bill. The restaurant is comfortable and nicely laid out. I love this neighborhood, it is located across the street from Was Park and a myriad of other cafe, rest, even a bakery! From the laminated brioche to dessert - it was little bites of magic! Our server, Tia, was good, but a little distracted. She explained the various dishes. she did check in at every course. The other staff were excellent...keeping our water glasses full, delivering our various dishes, at just the right time - A nice touch . We chose the laminated brioche (order one for each person) and the pate. Both were excellent - wow! We each had a salad - roasted beats and the radicchio - both very good! We had the brown butter/cheese ravioli and duck confit - another excellent choice. I love that the potions are not huge, but the flavors are. Thoroughly enjoyed Colette. This French-ish spot, where snails are friends and not food, boasted meals full of flavor in a great atmosphere. When we arrived it took 30 min after our reservation to be seated. Not the best if you're in a hurry, but for a girl's night out, no worries. We started with the vol au vent. The mushroom sauce was so delicious that we held onto it for dipping our frites in. My friend and I then both enjoyed the duck confit for our main. Shatteringly crisp skin, tender meat, and savory beans combined for a dish I could not stop eating. Seriously, I was too full for dessert and that rarely happens! ( if you haven't been to this pastry shop , I HIGHLY recommend it). The steak was cooked perfectly with the frites , however the frites were very salty. But the fries were good from what I could eat. Really pretty restaurant near Music Hall--we were a party of 4 before the ballet on a Friday night. First--be sure you have reservations! Our reservation was for 5 pm and the restaurant was already filling up. We had a table near the open kitchen which was fun. The vibe is French bistro and there appeared to be a number of regulars in the restaurant. The noise level was lively but didn't interfere with conversation. We were greeted by the server almost immediately and she took our drink orders after reviewing the menu with us. Service throughout the meal was prompt, friendly, and unobtrusive. The menu was well explained and dishes were promptly cleared and the table was crumbed between courses--a nice touch. Drinks arrived promptly--my martini was perfect. Our party decided to order both items on the bread service--one is a beautiful, slightly sweet house made brioche and the other featured a fantastic butter on a Blue Oven rustic bread. Excellent! Two in our party had the ravioli, which they really enjoyed (I had a taste--it was goooood!). The cod was the best fish I have ever had--velvety, rich, and perfectly cooked. The remaining diner had the hamburger, which she said was very good. We couldn't decide on dessert so we split all four--gorgeous patisseries that you don't see on many menus. Including drinks, the bill came to less than $300-honestly, we were expecting it to be much more because of the high quality food and service. I'm already looking forward to my next visit. read more

I'm thrilled to have this caliber restaraunt added to our options here in Cincinnatti. It's a French-ish option for sure. And one I'll proudly bring friends who visit me from Los Angeles & New York. The menu is simple and to the point. The bread basket is a must. Wow! The delicacy of each bite allowed us to experience both the skill and artistry of its baker. Nice job! My party of two shared the beets salad, cod, steak fritz and finished off with profiteroles and ginger/turmeric tea. All dishes are served on varying antique plates, and the side room felt as if I was dining at a location in the country side of France with the surrounding French decor. I love the Jean colored napkins. Our waitress may have been new to this level of dining service and put on the floor too early. Everything was so delicious & we absolutely loved all of the dishes we ordered! We couldn't recommend enough the steak frites, raviole du dauphiné, missy cocktail, rosemary in thyme (nonalcoholic), & then for dessert the choux au craquelin and mille-feuille. Reservations are recommended as they are busy, but walk in's are accepted & we were able to get last minute seats at the bar while visiting town. The staff was amazing & the ambiance is so cute. Somehow our reservation had been cancelled and they were still able to accommodate us. It's more of an upscale vibe- servers, hostesses and management carrying themselves a little differently than at your run of the mill restaraunt. The food reviews from our table of 6 were mixed. The ravioli was not my personal favorite but another person at our table ordered it and really enjoyed it. The burger was one person at our tables "best burger ever" and another didn't like it. It's pretty pricey and the menu is almost too simple- it's hard to really describe it other than maybe saying that if you wanna go out with a few friends for drinks and share a few tasting items or dessert, then perfect, but for dinner itself (for my tastes) it's kind of hard to put together a really nice cohesive meal- like the offerings are nice but just don't really compliment each other in a really fluid way- like it's a French inspired tapas menu - just not what I was expecting - paired with my personal sentiment that I've enjoyed other similar type foods elsewhere that I've liked way better. We ordered the fish spread dip, the laminated brioche, the ravioli, the beet salad, the carrot salad, the lamb cavatelli, the mushrooms, the cod dinner, and all four of the desserts- So we did give it a fair shake, but I guess I just was expecting to fall in love with at least one of the dishes, but not one of them made me say "oh, that's really really good"- which with all the hype I've heard around town and given we ordered so many things, I just had a set expectation. And maybe it is that the overall quality/offerings of the menu are lacking or maybe it's just my personal opinion- but it's just not the spot for me.
